Full BRick! - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Phone will not boot, full brick. Anyone know how to remove the internal memory chip from the board and know of a device that can read it?

How did you manage this? A bit of information might be useful.
Thanks.

Flashed the omega rom and it just killed my phone.
No download mode
no recovery.
Not even a charging led light.

This might be helpful for taking the phone apart and working out what's what.

I would assume the chip would need some specialist equipment to read it though :/

Donate it to Adam outler for testing his unbrickable mod.
Bad luck dude.

Maybe its just dead and charging is broken? Worth trying an external charger or friends device to make sure, that really is bad luck I hope to get this phone but I wont be diving into roms until I'm sure this won't happen :/

Have you tried a JIG to get to download mode?

Note + Don't blame the ROM, it is ALWAYS the USER, as it was your choice. Nobody made you try flash it!
Is your device a international I9300 or I9300T model?

What did you mean exactly "Phone will not boot", stuck at samsung logo? or phone just won't power on?

try usb jib for S3. you should be able to go to yellow download icon mode and then flash back the old stock rom again.

There was one time when I was able to get the LED on while plugged in to the PC, maybe that was it .I really hope that was it but Odin did not see it.

First of all you need to calm down.
Then you need to ask that buddy of yours exactly what he did.

Can u go into download mode ? Volume Down+ Home button + Power button ?
You dont need to go into any mode, you can connect and flash by Odin while PHONE ! PC logo is displayed, just flash it again and be more careful in what you are doing.
The trouble is you don't know what your original rom was... If your mate just flashed a new rom on without knowing what was needed he may have flashed a custom rom onto a carrier rom... This is not easily fixable if you don't know what your carrier or stock rom was...
Just because someone has flashed their phone doesn't mean they know what they're doing. If its NOT the same phone, don't hand over your rather expensive toy...
Just download SAMSUNG KIES:
http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/m...softwaremanual.do?page=MOBILE.SOFTWARE.MANUAL
Restore your phone back to stock rom.
I can't go to download mode..many time i'm trying to make it..just be like that only, when i put on charging, the screen screen still like that..hurm..anyone can explain to me,how can i do??my friend said, his friend pull out the cable from the fon when he flash the rom into fon..then when he restart fon and want go to download mode...that screen come out..and won't go to download mode..
i have kies ready..when put cable on fon, kies not detect my fon..how??

[HELP] Ace Brick...

Hi, well yesterday I was trying to flash the SGAce of my dad with Odin, but it was like 18 minutes without moving from the part that said "qcsbl download .." and as I unplug the phone and I closed the Odin, as I unplug the phone and turn it off so I try to turn it back on and nothing, try to enter the recovery mode and nothing, so try to enter anything Download ... and now I have a paperweight ... What I can do?
view my post here, flash the clockworkmod recovery from stock. if u allready have cwm, then flash the rom in the link off your sd card. it will boot up.

not work, download files ClockWorkModAce.zip Root.zip and place them on a MicroSD, insert the MicroSD to the phone and try to enter recovery mode and nothing happens ... : s Understand that the phone does not respond (it has full battery, no SIM) as well as connect to the computer via USB or attempt to charge the screen does not respond. Thanks dragonnn spacecaker, today I learned something new and I'll put you to review this more thoroughly, but the important thing now, I have everything installed ok but when I put "adb devices" do not see the Ace, remember that the phone is in black does nothing.

Yep, service is your answer. Bricked mine about a month ago. No life whatsoever, couldn't turn it on. I tried every possible solution that search results offered me and still nothing. At the end it had to be flashed directly on board. So I spent 50 euros on service, but I learned a valuable lesson.

[Q] Cannot enter recovery on sgs2!

While flashing Odin stuck at zImage... I disconnected the phone from PC. Now i cant enter neither the DL mode, nor recovery... Important thing that the PC still see the phone when connected (Odin too (yellow indicates)). i9100g. Can someone help?
If the flash stalled is it possible you were flashing an incompatible firmware for your phone? I9100G has different firmware yo the I9100/T.
Anyway, my suggestion is if uoi definitely can't get into download mode then maybe try using a jig to force it. But I suspect that may also not work.
You say the PC picks up the phone when you connect it. Does that mean it boots up?

Yeah should have been fine then. Can't see why download mode won't work because you haven't touched the bootloader. Maybe try removing then re-inserting the battery, then use the 3 buttons for download mode.

Well if all else fails, next step may be a jig. It can be a pain if you don't have one but check in the general section. There is a thread about users (including myself) who are willing to help people who urgently need to use a jig. There are heaps of countries listed so if your lucky you may find someone close by who will help.
EDIT: here is the link to the thread. Check the first post for locations.

OP, are you plugged directly into a USB port on the PC? Not through a keyboard pass-through, or a USB hub, or something similar? I've heard of stalled flashes because the person was not plugged directly into the PC.
The other thing, is to try a different USB cable. Faulty cables can also cause stalled flashes.

WHAT DOES RECOVERY HAVE TO DO WITH FLASHING???
You have other posts in this thread that imply you were able to try flashing again. If that's not the case, than I misinterpreted, and sorry I tried to troubleshoot your problem and suggest a course of action.
I'm sure you're frustrated, but that is no reason to snap at people trying to help you.

You mean the screen keeps flickering?

i717 permabricked. Won't even boot to download mode.

Is there any hope? I was trying to install LiquidSmooth Jellybean 4.1.2 RC8. I did a backup of the stock ROM before doing so using CWM 6.0. But now it won't even go into download mode. I plug it in via USB as the screen won't even turn on and it keeps flashing that it's plugged in, then it's not, then it is, etc.
I had used the files from AndroidJinn without reading the reviews at the bottom.

I'm facing quite the hard brick. $1.60 for a jig won't kill me, now to buy it. But is there anything else I can try?
I would try to find out exactly what caused this before attempting to fix it. Has the recovery that you used been reliable and tested enough to ensure it didn't cause any troubles? I compiled twrp for this device and I can tell you that recovery is a pain to build correctly.

I hope you can work it out. With my own I have not had any major problems to troubleshoot. Mostly things that a battery pull or an odin flash could fix. Although I have had a couple times that I was unable to get into recovery and simply removing my otterbox and retrying did the trick. ( Buttons getting worn out on the otterbox cover? )
