No WiFi direct in ICS? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Does anyone know if there is or will be a WiFi Direct function in ICS for our SXS?
I thought this would be supported native by Android 4?!
I am missing that..

Think of it as being like Bluetooth, but a faster way to send files to another person or device.
My Sony Bravia TV can take pictures, music or video via Wi-Fi - if I search and find the device by doing a scan. But I need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network that the TV is.
My TV also has its own SSID, and if someone else took a photo or had a video on their phone - they could simply scan for the TV and - bam - it appears on the screen. The One X and Galaxy S III has Wi-Fi Direct, and given Sony TVs do, it seems very odd to leave it out.

[Q] [REQ] Redirect all audio to upnp/dlna/airplay

Hi everyone,
Is that possible to redirect all audio of a phone/tablet to a dlna renderer ?
I found some applications but you have to listen to through this application to be able to redirect the sound on a dlna renderer......
That's why i would like to be able to redirect all audio !
Like an app with a widget and when it's active, every sounds goes out on a media renderer located on the wifi network.
When it's inactive, it goes out on the phone/tablet.
I've never developpe an android application....if someone could help me ?
Thanks a lot !
Amans
I am looking for something like this for a while now.
The reason behind this is, that several applications do not support native DLNA streaming. One example would be Spotify for Android. How awesome would it be, if you could simply use the player on your tablet or phone and redirect the sound to your DLNA devices?
Unfortunately I wasn't able to find a solution by now.
If anyone should have a solution for this issue, I would be extremely thankful for a hint as well.

This would be totally awesome. I guess at least for rooted devices it should be possible.

Any news on any software like this?

i still didn't find anything which is doing that :crying:

[Q] make my ps3 or tv recognize and play media from my phone over wifi

My PS3 and my smart tv pickup my windows computer over wifi enabling me to show pictures music and videos on it. Im assuming this is a windows feature that allows it to show up like that. Is there any type of app that can fake the tv I to thinking my phone is a wi dows media?
I may be using wrong technology terms here but hope what I am saying makes sense
Hey,
There are many apps for that in Google Play, the technology is called "DLNA", just look for that in Google Play.
I use imediashare for displaying videos and pictures on my Sony TV. But with this app you normally send your media to the TV, and not the other way round.
Just try it!

Phil

Miracast or wireless display.

As TEGRA 3 supports Miracast I was wondering how to use it with the prime. Any ideas?
And also, is there any other good way to stream the prime's display directly to a TV, wireless.

This forum is getting dead. good questions going on unanswered..
the prime comes with anynet by asus that does exactly this.
Sv: Miracast or wireless display.
Well, how to you play to something then? Because I can only seem to play to my Prime. There is a play to button, but the only alternative is the tf201. And also that wouldn't share the screen to a tv, or would it?

both devices need to be on the same network for starters. My samsung plasma needed to agree to the connection first and that was somewhere in the tv settings then it showed up as an option in the play to menu. My new Vizio does not come with that functionality though. I does however still play the files from my prime using its own menu as I have enabled the sharing of media files wehn the mynet software came up asking for permission. So there are a couple of ways the connection can be made to play your media on your tv from your prime.

If the device is DLNA compatible then use Skifta. I find it far easier.

There is a lot of difference between dlna and miracast.
Dlna = Prime can share files that other devices can see and play...
Miracast = mirroring what u see on prime to any tv.
With miracast, u can Play games like temple run by watching your tv, but still swiping on ur tablet.
To op's qn...Miracst will be supported with 4.2 android version.. i think statement has been made by nvidia as well confirming this for tegra 3. Google.
All u need is a netgear ptv3000 device hooked onto yout tv that will wirelessly connect with your tablet.

Ah, ok that's a bit sad then.
About the dongle. if I have one, my tv doesn't need dlna. Right? Also do you know if the prime/tablet will send data to the dongle constantly or are you able to decide when to do that?

Prime does not support miracast yet , so dont know.
Samsungs allshare cast works damn nice for screen mirroring. You can pair the dongle with the tablet and start stop mirroring anytime you like. I have a note 10.1 tablet and galaxy s3, and I mirror them both on tv to play games watch movies.
Dlna is different than miracast... once I can mirror, I dont think u will need dlna that much.
I am banking that samsung allshare cast, miracast and intel widi will all merge into one protocol, and it would be lovely then.

Yeah, mirroring will eliminate my need of dlna. The Samsung all share is a Great solution though it only works with samsung products as you need the all share framework. And I dont think you can get around that.

My friend just discovered this feature. He was able to push photos he was viewing on his s3 phone to his Panasonic plasma TV wirelessly. So the underlying protocol that Samsung uses must work with other manufactures.

Yes sir.
This feature is called dlna. S3 has allshare play that is dlna.
Can your friend play a game on s3 and u watch his screen play on tv? That is screen mirroring.

Yes it does work with other manufacturers but right now you'll need a samsung device which is running a Sammy rom to use the allshare app. Though dlna is a really nice feature

Can't do Screen Mirroring (miracast) and WiFi connection simultaneously

Why is it that once I connect to miracast it will disconnect from wifi? Is it hardware limitation or software bug? My Samsung note 2 can connect on both miracast and still maintain wifi connection.
I would like to know... Had the same problem.

SW Issue
This ist what I posted in the sony forum thread under talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Tablet-Z/Can-t-do-Screen-Mirroring-miracast-and-WiFi-connection/td-p/333179/page/3[/url]
Sooo, installed Cyanogenmod 10.2 (based on Android 4.3 which supports WiDi/Miracast natively) and see there:
WIDI/Miracast and the connection to my home WiFi Network work simultaneously.....!!!
So Sony, two lessons for you here:
1. Get of your collective ***** and get Android 4.3 going without nerfing perfectly fine core features
2. If you're going the forum/community way, provide correct information (aka really ask your developers) and don't spew half informed nonsense/play the information hiding game...
To everyone else here: give them ****, or they will never learn!
PS: Who wants to try, google Cyanogenmod ("Pollux" -for LTE variant- or "Pollux_Windy" -for WiFi only variant-). Warning!: Possible Warranty void when flashing custom ROMS

Will Simultaneous Screen Mirroring and WIFI be possible on Sony's V4.3 Release?
I am glad to hear screen mirroring and WIFI can work simultaneously with the Cyanogenmod 10.2 ROM. Just wondering if the screen monitoring/WIFI issue will be fixed on the official V4.3 stock ROM?
The Xperia Z tablet is awesome, but shutting down the WIFI while enabling screen mirroring is a major show stopper for me, given that I bought this tablet for my parents to watch streaming video (i.e. Netflix, XBMC, YouTube.) on TV though a Push2TV adapter. For close to a year my Nexus 4 has been able to stream many movies using wireless screen mirroring without losing the WIFI, I am surprised the Sony Xperia Z Tablet is not able to do the same.

Real Racing 3 - Xbox controller x Split-screen Issue

Hello all.
Today I installed this game and it ran gorgeously with stuning graphics on the shield.
I was glad to see they implemented Split-screen multiplayer and gave it a try with my Xbox Wireless Controller receiver and one extra controller.
As I result the game detected 4 players/controllers instead of 2 (nvidia controller + 1 Xbox) and the screen divided into 4. The 2 controllers worked just fine, but the other 2 players got stuck.
Did anyone have his issue with the wireless controller?
Could you please try it and post the result?
Hope we can find a way or an update fixes that. It would be awesome.
Cheers.
Split Screen??? That game support that?
I have the same issue, and I think Firemonkey have to update RR3 to select Number of players/select input device

I think so too and I've sent an email suggesting it and never got the answer back. That would definitely be the simplest solution.
I've found out where the problem is exactly. The Xbox Wireless Receiver has support for 4 controlled and will always send this information to Android regardless of the number of controls attached. Found this on a SNes emulator showing them on the config list. :highfive:
Anyhow, even if you only the shield controller connected, RR will detect more than 1 player connect and that'sa clearly a bug.
issue still remains
Hi guys
I just installed the game on my Shield TV and saw this issue.
It's 2018 and it's still not fixed????
This game used to get A LOT of updates on the phone. why didn't they fix issue??
I just opened multiplayer option out of curiosity (only have one controller) and it automatically split screen into 4.
Also, gamepad keeps connecting and disconnecting every 5 seconds.
