May have found the source of the re-draw issue - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hey Guys,
If you are having the re-draw issue, try this. I can confirm that it fixed my re-draw issue.
Settings>Developer options>Uncheck "Don't keep activities"
After you do this, you should get the re-draw one more time, afterwards, there should be no more re-draws. I was also able to re-create the re-draw issue when I checked the "Don't keep activities" option.
Hope this helps!
Btw, I'm using the Nordic Combined version of ICS right now.

Bad developers,or bad android os.

I also cleared my internal storage and reset my phone before the flash. As well, I have "automatic restore" in Backup and Reset, unchecked before I re-downloaded all my apps.

Thanks a lot !!!!!!!

Isn't that the default option (if you flash a ROM fresh, that option is unchecked by default). So how does it help

Try opening loads of windows in the browser and looking for a good 10-15 mins and see if it's still fixed?

Thanks Mate worked for me too. Initially i also flashed directly on .75 but was feeling lags. Today i reflashed after clearing Internal memory and restoring too default. But today I was very unhappy with the lags that too when i have only the stock softwares. The Leg was killing me when i perform basic functions such as going to dialer and it shows redraw while coming back to home screen the icons on home screen will take second or two to come back and was thinking of going back to GB but your post helped me.
I really don't think sony has worked very well on the update or may be they haven't provided proper installation information to customers.
Please note when i initially flashed wihtout restoring to default and clearing internal memory even for me these options are unchecked. Also today i flashed with SUS not PCC.

To tell you the truth, after flashing and before I did anything else (install apps, etc.), I would go into settings and set everything back to how I had them on GB which included checking that option. So this time around, I installed all apps before settings which led me to discover that that option was what was causing my redraw issue.

I don't know how many windows that I usually have open, but under normal use so far, I haven't had another redraw of my home screen. Give it a try, it only takes 2 seconds, my friend.

Hmmm, have you tried to check it then start a few apps in the home screen and then uncheck it? It was unchecked by default, then I went and checked it (unknowingly), then once I unchecked it, the redraw issue was gone.

I can not confirm whether it does or does not. However, I've taken a browse at some of the folders and files that are left behind from various uninstalled apps and such, I would propose that it is probably a good idea to clear your internal storage and perform a factory reset before your flash. Now, once again, I can not confirm whether this actually does anything, but it's just what I did.

mhm okay.. could you try to open some heavy apps like browser or games and then right after open the dialer or contacts and tell me how fast it is?

I tried it. The initial launch was a slower than normal however, after that, it was fast like normal.

okay.. just cleared everything.. its way faster now imo.. thanks mate! =)

It should be unchecked by default in all pure stock ROMs. If it was enabled on your phone it means you manually enabled it before, or the custom ROM you installed had it enabled.

Yes, it was unchecked. But as a habit (probably because, like everyone in here, I'm obsess with making sure that I have the most amount of memory free), after flashing, I would go and check it; not knowing that it was causing an issue with this version of ICS. Now, I certainly suspect that this alone did not "fix" the issue, I'm thinking that it was a combination of clearing the internal storage, resetting the phone, and not checking "kill application" that fixed this issue.

[Q] Constant LAg & F/C

So I've read the homescreen / re-draw lag posts & Ive tried everything suggested with no luck.
Problem is my GS3 lags constantly, bringing up messages, contacts, app drawer, everything. On the lockscreen the ripple lag is like 2-3 seconds, its getting extremely frustrating. Ive tried checking in OS monitor for a CPU lockup but theres nothing I can see that would be causing it.
Im running Omega V3, Apex launcher, on Vodafone Australia.
The other issue im having is my browser is f/c ALL the time, pretty much everytime I use it, it locks up for about 10 secs then returns to homescreen with the message saying Interent has stopped working.
Have reinstalled ROM twice, its runs super quick until I reinstall apps from Titanium Backup, then it just drags. Would there be a conflict with an app / data from my GS2 backup? Is there a way I can run a log to check? I have Android Assistant, and have checked the log, but im too much of a noob to know what to look for, although it seems to be running a lot of debug lines but I dont know if thats normal..
Thanks in advance.
The restoration of backup sounds like the cause. I recommend you restore the apps one at a time or in small batches. That way you can figure out which app is causing the problem.
my apex launcher is usually fast , but i've aswell that 3sec lag when i push homebutton.but that happens only sometimes.
ive also ticked that option to keep launcher in ram...
iam using omega rom and no bloatware or s voice

S3 become Slow / Sluggish to response

hello,
My Samsung S3 it has become sluggish or slow reacting to the home button and when I want to Unlock the device. At least a 2-3 second delay before it reacts. I've cleared cache, removed all open/running apps, cleared ram, restarted phone nothing happened.
I try as much as I can to clear everything daily twice a time, but even though it doesn't help. I also clear the Application for Task Manager and Running Application also that I do want, but no joy. I don't browse much, I don't have lots of Pictures of Videos.
I have only installed a few applications;
WhatsApp
UberSocial for Twitter
Gmail Client
Exchange Server Mail configured on it
Andriod Keyboad 2.3 (ASOP)
TouchPal Keyboard
App Cache Clearer to clean all Application Cache

What is your suggestion about the Cache/Memory?
4.0.4 latest firmware PDA:LFB/ PHONE:LFB / CSC:LF3 (XSG)
Are you using a custom ROM/kernel? If then, return to all stock.

@OP I was on LFB a few days back and it was really snappy for me.
First advice is to stop worrying about cache/memory. Let android handle it. Second try and uninstall cleaner app, reboot and then see

Hello, I don't use any ROM/Kernel at all. it's stock and I never played with it's OS other than upgraded to the latest Android. 4.0.4
There's always a delay when pressing the home button when waking up the phone. This is a hardware problem and the S II, the Note and some other Samsung phones all suffer from it. However 2-3 seconds is too much. Go into S-Voice and disable the "double tap activation" in its settings. It should speed things up a bit.
maybe do a factory wipe/reset?

[Q] How to remove annoying message "clear default app settings by going to settings"
Hello guys
Since JB on SGS3, my phone KEEPS asking me to set defaults for the same things, really bloody annoying.
"Clear defaults
Clear default app settings by going to settings > applications manager > all"
An utter pain in the arse. Anyone found a way to make Touchwiz remember defaults or to stop giving this newbie bollocks message?
I'd love some brainy hacker to make it gooo away!

Titanium -> backup/restore -> TouchWiz -> freeze
Make sure you have a proper launcher already loaded, like ADW/Nova etc.

NOPE!
after a reboot it is back to square one, the message comes up again.
there has got to be a way to make the system remember that stuff, surely?!
EDIT
not quite square one... it seems files I have opened before using a specific app will continue to work with that app automatically, but if I, for example, open a pdf document in Maildriod and tell it to open with Adobe reader, then click on the same PDF in the GMail app, it will ask me again... so it seems to be based on the app it is coming FROM and not the type of link/file you are clicking on. Pretty daft IMO.

No, Samsung apps are independent of TouchWiz and will work with any launcher.
The only repeating request for default I've experienced is when I left TouchWiz in after I'd added ADW - it came up after each boot to ask which launcher I wanted and then ignored the 'always' bit. After I frozen TouchWiz it's all working as expected, opening each file type responds with the app I've chosen to use with it (from the launcher).
I just tried the exact test you describe, opening a .pdf in two apps. After I'd set the option from each app it remembers the setting - but it just doesn't appear to be a system wide setting, like it would be in Windows.
If it keeps asking the same question from the same app then you may have a problem, otherwise I think it's just the way JB works.

I will check, though my nexus 10 tablet NEVER has a message telling me that I can clear default app settings... so it's not a google thing but a samsung one.
I will see over a week or so if it does remember, though i guess with each rom update I have to enter all the bloody defaults again... one of the down sides of customising rom's frequently.
cheers
Mark.

I had the same issue when I installed the Handcent widget and kept the stock messaging app. Here's what worked for me:
1) Go to Settings > Developer Options, and check "Do not keep activities". I'm not sure what this actually does (or how it affects other apps) so I unchecked it after it took away the message notification.
2) After a little while, the problem reappeared, so I found a free app called "SMS Cleaner Free" in the Play Store. That seemed to solve my issue permanently, as it hasn't reappeared since.
I'm not sure if one or a combo of doing both helped, but try it out and let us know.

Constantly Crashing

I have an issue that I cannot pinpoint the cause of figure out a solution to. Maybe someone here can help.
My Sprint G3 is always crashing and rebooting the launcher (phone doesn't turn off, just closes evwrything). I'd be in the middle of any app and it will randomly close every single app. The running apps page always displays after every crash. It's as if too much ram is being used, but it will happen even after a fresh phone restart and launching something simple like WhatsApp.
My phone is rooted via the Stump one click method. I don't have any type of rooted mods enabled, only Adfree. I use Nova launcher (paid & updated).
Is there some sort of event viewer that will log the activity of the phone so I probably someone here can see what might be causing the phone to crash? I'm tempted to Unroot and restore back to stock... But if I can avoid that, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks. I've reverted my adfree hosts file and uninstalled it. But I think the issue persists. If I try to use any app that clears cache, specifically Clean Master, when it's doing the scan of apps it'll crash midway through the scan. If I go to system settings > Apps & wait for all the downloaded apps to load the details, it'll crash there too.
This is the oddest thing.
Edit:
This visual may help. It's a video of me running Clean Master & seeing how it just crashes. I can replicate this issue every time like this, but the crashes are random when using other apps.

Ok, so I began uninstalling some apps that I thought may have been the issue... Which they weren't as the crashing still continues. I decided to reboot under safe mode and the problem occurs there too.
I honestly cannot recall if this began before or after rooting with stump. I may have to Unroot & factory restore. =/

I'm at a loss... The 2 things I mentioned can be the culprits, but not for you I guess. Some other ideas?
Did you uninstall Stump after getting root?
Have you froze or uninstalled any system apps/ priv-apps?
It might even be Nova is having issues.

TL;DR version = Yes, I did fix it. Factory restore did the trick.
A few days after my last post the phone wasn't as bad as the video. It would still crash and reset but mainly after heavy app usage or when trying to clear app cache using any app like Clean Master.
Once my storage reached about 40% used and I couldn't clear the cache, I began to get constant Play Store error messages. No apps would update. I think it was error 483 or something close to hat number.
Since I couldn't flash back to stock because the drivers wouldn't install, I gave up and tried a factory reset. I nearly sh-t myself bc once I confirmed the restore, the phone didn't want to automatically reset per the instructions. I pressed the button multiple times and nothing. I pulled the battery and when I turned it back on, I got the initial screen with the "powered by android" and then black. It did not wanna do anything. Pulled battery again, same outcome. It left it for maybe 10min and still nothing.
I was ready to go back to sprint and see if I could exchange the phone. While researching the closest store, the phone beeped and the initial android setup screen appeared. This was about 25min of waiting on a black screen.
The phone is now back to working order and it's still rooted. There must have been a corrupt file that was erased/restored once the g3 decided to behave.

TL;DR version = Yes, I did fix it. Factory restore did the trick.
A few days after my last post the phone wasn't as bad as the video. It would still crash and reset but mainly after heavy app usage or when trying to clear app cache using any app like Clean Master.

Congrats!
My G3 is crashing in the similar manner as the video you uploaded.
Except that it only happens when I'm in office connected to office wifi with almost no cellular reception.
On top of that, as far as I could tell... only two apps are causing the launcher to crash... the game Clash of Clans and LINE.
Very very strange....
