Well, how can we go back to asia? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Waiting is annoying. In particular for us, the razr (maxx) users in asia. After waiting for a day and a day, a month and a month, a delay followed by another, ics update for asia razr has finally be officially informed. This is really a godsend gift from motorola!
Though, some impatient asia razr users (myself inclusive) who has flashed the ics leak, can we go back to the asian retail version? I currently am in t-mobile german 4.0.4 ics leak, how can I flash back my razr to hongkong retail version? Is it just the same way as flashing from german version to european ics version? In fact, if this is the way, i don't quite understand what the boot.img is and how can i get it. Would anyone of the profession gives a helpful hand to us?
Thx guys!

You might need to wait for the ics fast boot files..

we got the push notification. Don't know if there's any link, but one guy posted the screenshot of the notification here

May i ask, what is fast boot file? is it as same as the ota file?

One more question, just about flashing logic in my mind.
Process to flash will be:
1. Flashing the boot.img in fast boot.
2. Flashing the stock hk 2.3.5 rom with Rsd.
3. Flashing the ics ota in recovery.
Am i correct? If yes then, how can i get the boot.img for asia version?

we dont have the leak yet. just wait for the Fast boot file

The fast boot file is the firmware in the format in which we can use rsd to flash out in the phone.
I am curious, how u manage to get Europe leak without knowing what is fast boot files..

PS, Is my logic above correct?

My problem is that, i cant go back to GB. My Device is a Motorola RAZR XT910 with Stock firmware 2.3.6 Telcel (LATAM)

i try to return the file mmcblk1p18 in dev/block/mmcblkp18 but inst working. somebody can help me with dat? and sorry for my poor inglish, im Latam...

Remember you have to be root to restore your own p18 bkp

Yeah, you're right because german leak doesn't need to replace the p18 partition. So, OP, you are able to downgrade anyway, you're luck!

Maybe you need the p18 trick to do this. But just try without it, you can go back to the german leak anytime you want. But root will be gone.
You can flash the chinese leak, just use RSD to flash ONLY System, then reboot into recovery, let it wokr, then reboot using BP tools, device will boot into chinese leak. But you won't have root and so you cannot delete the chinese stuff and bloat... So, the best hing would be to stay on the german leak 'till we'll have found a way to change it. And by the way, the german leak runs better for me (tested both of them).

PS After flashing my razr to ics, I found that when using the built-in message app to send SMS to my friends (in chinese content), my friends told me they cannot see the message. To be precise, what my friends received were the empty boxes.
I can only send these messages through the 3rd party app.Anyone know how to solve this problem? Thx man
Why does no one read? Its like its a lost art. The op explains everything in the main ics leak thread. Yet there are people everywhere asking what can't or is very difficult to do. Sigh

[Q] Really confused about getting LATAM ICS...

I came from the Galaxy S forums where all these ROMs and updates were given to you on a silver platter instructions and all
I'm using a GSM Canadian Droid RAZR purchased from Fido, running on the Virgin Mobile network. (Yeah, its complicated.)
System Version:
651.167.3331.XT910.Fido.en.CA
Android Version
2.3.6
I've been waiting all this time for the Verizon update, but only realized a week ago that Verizon is CDMA, and theres no chance I'll get it on my Fido branded RAZR.
What do I need to do? I downloaded the LATAM 2.3.6 GB as well as the 4.04 ICS. I have RSD Lite but no idea how to use it. My device is complete vanilla. Do I have to root/install CWM in order to install 2.3.6?
And should I do data/cache wipe. If so, how?
Thanks in advance. I really don't know whats going on.
Oops. I thought this would automatically be moved to Q&A after I checked that box. Could a mod move it there please?
Thanks

Please take more care when starting a new thread.
Hey, I'm actually in the same boat as this guy. I have a Rogers GSM Razr and I'm wondering if I want to install an ICS kernel based ROM, I have to use RSD lite to flash up to an ICS stock rom, and then flash the rom I want, right?
Thanks for the link Pedro.
Does my phone need any modifications (root/CWM) in order for me to flash with RSD?

Not really. Take your phone as a latam device. Any rom for a latam razr will work fine.
Just follow the procedure for ics on latam razr.
You have 4 Langs on ir. Eng. Pt. En. Fr.
And I posted a working 1 click root method today.
Btw, tell the guys about it

So this is the .211 Fastboot files for the CDMA RAZR (912) correct? So now I can fastboot this and NOT have to use Matt's 1.7 utility to "unstuck" my RAZR and flash the .211 OTA?
I'm assuming then this is the OFFICIAL 211 image.
Also, noticed that the XML file doesn't have the entry to wipe your internal SD card. Thank goodness that was removed (even though it was an easy edit).

It allows you to flash your phone with a fresh install of ICS .211 (the same as the OTA) through RSD Lite. So, if you really mess up your phone trying to install a ROM or something, you can get back to stock ICS. That is all this file does - makes your phone stock. Originally we would flash the 2.3.6 SBF file to get back to GB. However, if you installed the OTA or some of the ICS leaks the bootloader changed, so flashing the 2.3.6 file would have caused your phone to become a brick (meaning you would need a new one). So now guys can mess with their phones (like we did on GB) and we can have this to fall back on if something goes wrong while trying to get our flashing fix...
Enjoy guys

And soon, Matt should release v1.8 of his utilities which will make it even easier for us to go back to stock.

[Q] Can you confirm this is the right way to do it ?

Hey XDA Community,
First off, i'm living in France so excuse me for my bad English and for my general noobness...
After a rapid (i'm a bit on a hurry so hope you'll understand) use of the search function, i did not find the answer to my questions so i started this new thread
I have to downgrade my Atrix (w/ bootloader unlocked) from CM7 to stock, i have found the .sbf of the stock rom and have extracted boot.img, system.img + webtop.img (this one may be optional ??) from this .sbf file.
Do i simply have to fash boot.img + system.img using fastboot (i'd better use fastboot instead of RSDlite coz' i've read RSD would certainly hard brick because of the unlocked bootloader, but is it true ) to downgrade my phone ?
Or is it gonna miserably hard brick and force me to pay more than $100 to my telephone company ??
Fast answer would be appreciated as i have to give my phone back to the after sales service in about 10 hours from now , so thank you in advance for any help you could bring me :fingers-crossed:
Don't downgrade to anything below gingerbread. It's better to do it with sbf for the newest one 4.5.141 or use a fruit cake and flash through cwm.

Thanks for your response :good:
The fact is my Atrix is not AT&T bur Orange (the french AT&T lol) so i cannot use fruit cake (or can i ?), i will not downgrade to Froyo but have only managed to find the official 2.3.4 from Orange but my phone runs on 2.3.7 (CM 7.2.0 Olympus)
Is it risky to downgrade from 2.3.7 to 2.3.4 (i'm terrorized by an eventual bootloader issue) ? and if not, can you confirm that flashing boot.img + system.img using fastboot will work ?
This is a warning that multiple users, including myself, have hard bricked their devices by SBF flashing to 1.8.3 after installing an official 4.5.91 update.
How can I avoid this brick?
You can avoid bricking your device by not flashing any over-the-air updates to Android 2.3.4. Instead, try flashing the 2.3.4 zip over here. Or, flash the pure stock images from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163342.
What if I already flashed the official 4.5.91?
If you flashed the official update from XDA or by downloading through a dev-blur server (note: this excludes http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163342), you should avoid flashing SBF files in RSD Lite. We've confirmed this problem exists when users flash the 1.8.3 build specifically. It may happen with other SBF files, though.
Problem solved, i found a rom that only slightly modifies the official one so now, everything is ok :victory:

[Q] GSM Razr stock ICS ROM that will get JB OTA (eventually)?

Hey guys, I've got the MERetail version of the stock ICS ROM on my Razr Maxx which won't be updated to JB and I want to prepare my phone for the official JB update and I'd like to install a stock ICS ROM that will get the OTA, preferably the UK version (or Europe version, if there is one).
Could you guys point me in the right direction? (file to download)
Is this the tutorial I need to follow: MOTOROLA Tools [Specially for Noobs] ?
Thanks a lot!
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_spyder/list.php here are the latest ics, and that is the right tutorial, flash the one you want with rsd lite.
but if your razr hasn't been made in germany, france or uk, you will probably not receive the ota update even though you flash a uk retail version. it depends on the imei...
go to motorola website and contact them asking in which country was your razr made, giving them the imei, that way you will know for sure if you will ever receive the update.
Oh, I didn't know that. But anyway, worst case scenario I could flash the JB stock ROM once it comes out, right?
Yes, I don't think I will receive the update either so I will also flash it when it all be out. You don't need to ask this in every thread

I like to have second opinions And for a new user, having the same question and answer in lots of places makes it easier to find. Why is that a bad thing? I've never understood the logic of this rule in online forums...
It's ok ask in every forum I do not make the rules, I gave you my opinion so that a moderator doesn't consider you a spammer
Sent from my XT910 using Tapatalk 2
It's just that I haven't heard this before, about the IMEI. Is it just a Motorola thing? I've had HTC's and Samsung's before and they could all have their CID modified (country ID?)...
Oh and I've also seen people mention CID in the Razr forums, I think...
Cid is unique on every phone, read about it also here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2078021

no, you can't replace just delete / restore (your own) it. CID = CustomerID.
Oh, rightt. So the trick is to actually delete it completely, not replace it with a good one.. Hmm, it looks very complicated
I think I will wait for the fastboot files for now
Thanks, guys!
