It depends on what country you live in and whether your phone (hardware and software) can support the app. Just like how all Gingerbread phones can't download Chrome because Gingerbread lacks hardware acceleration.
Some apps are carrier specific. You won't want to download AT&T or Verizon apps on an international device, just like you won't download apps from China Mobile onto your T-Mobile USA devices.
So, yes. Gingerbread might have access to less apps, but that's not because of the Android version. It's due to the lack of certain features and support for that particular Android version.

I don't really know how to build roms, so this question is better answered by the devs themselves.

Different phones and different android versions support different appps
on th elocal play store on ure phone u can only see apps wich are compatible with ure phone
if u got to the internet on ur pc and head to play store u will see all apps available for android and there it will show u weather its compatible or not

[Q] RAM Issue after upgrading to ICS on 9100G.

Hi Guys...
Before the upgrade to ICS from Gingerbread
2.3.6 it used to show Total RAM as 850 some MB, used RAM would be around 350 when the phone was Idle.
Now that I have ugraded my 9100G, it show total RAM as 637.
Is this normal? Any reason and solution for that? Also the phones interface has become a bit slow. Has anyone faced and dealt with this RAM issue?
Regards
Abby!
What it shows in task manager is not so important, please look in Settings > Applications > Running Services, and on the lower part of the page it should show a green/grey bar where it says RAM: Used and free. Add them and please reply the result to see if available RAM has been indeed lowered.
In 2.3.6 it shows 208 used and 508 free (208+568 = 776 available RAM to the user.)
I am interested in your reply.
Also please check if Flash Player 11.1 works (sorry for off topic)
Thank you for your reply buddy...
Tried that.. Still adds up to 637. Just wondering where did the remaining RAM go?
Also am sorry, am not a techie... How do I check if the flash player is working fine?
heard the same problem in some other thread too...

Yes my too the same thing, it displays 687Mb. But I think it's not a problem, read this article and you'll understand: http://developer.sonymobile.com/wp/...ical-differences-between-gingerbread-and-ics/

it adds up to 687 MB (for 9100G version). Non G - 9100 has more RAM after upgrade 800+ MB. Looks like those who bought the 9100G are being shortchanged by Samsung!!
Hi Guys,
I have raised this concern her:
http://www.consumercomplaints.in/complaints/samsung-gt9100g-ram-issues-c757681.html#images
And this was just because I was not satisfied from the things given here: http://developer.sonymobile.com/wp/...ical-differences-between-gingerbread-and-ics/
And the reason is have got a new S2 with official ICS an d it still has above 800MB of RAM.
Requesting you to share the link and asking everyone to update their comments on consumer complaints so that Samsung would have to find a fix for the issue.
Thanks.

I have a couple of these. Seem basically sound phones, using MTK6589 quad core, dual SIM, 4G ROM, 512Mb RAM,
Google play and services is absent from the default install, which has a lot of Chinese-centric apps. eg, a Chinese-only opera web browser.
It is easy to root using Kingo android root.
The default software makes this otherwise reasonable phone look rather tacky, and misses so much functionality westerners expect from the (missing) Google infrastructure.
I'd like a vanilla android for this with gapps, etc..
LOVE this phone.. lot of china and russian roms works great and some won't connect to wifi so try them out and use chrome browser to translate. Pretty easy to put custom rom.
Please help me
I bought this phone some time ago and no Google
play.when I install black market or aptoide on the
phone, the ram after playing few games go full
and the only thing to do for this phone to work is
to shut down and replace the battery.is this
normal or this phone doesn't work well?i want
some help cause I don't understand room or
root .this is the only forum when is posted this
phone.please help me and sorry for my bad
english
Wonder if you would put a link to where I can download custom rom to ZTE V965?
Thanks in advance!

[Q] [MTK6572][4.2.2] Why not smooth?

Hello!
I bought a Navon MIZU M400 phone yesterday.
Default, it have a 4.2.2 Android. It's okay, but it's not smooth!!!!
I think a Dual-Core GPU Maliā„¢400 GPU is not give a non-smoothable system for me.
I read a LOT of forum themes for this. I read about "Rotate my phone, press the recentry apps, etc etc..." but it's not working.
I try everything in the development opportunities menu.
I dont wanna root, because i bought yesterday..
With LOT OF THANKS, SnikerFreak

Samsung Galaxy Ace s5830/C/M/i/S5839i was not basically designed for semi/demanding graphical performances due to legacy specification such as poor 832 MHz Broadcom BCM21553, ARMv6 CPU and most of all VideoCore IV GPU, 384 MB RAM (accessible: 278 MB), which clearly is self explanatory mate .
although you have a good chance with this confirmed list , which does not require rooting . For semi heavy HD confirmed games which categorized under chainfire 3d , you need to install this application with some plugin from google play store (rooting is required > very easy flashing process from stock or CWM recovery) .
As you mentioned earlier candy crush saga series are incompatible with S5830i and the latest official android version for your phone is 2.3.6/kernel version 2.6.35.7 , but you can root it and install some cool custom mod such as CM11 for Cooperve5830i ( some minor bugs+so many benefits involved/stable version included) .
for chainfire 3d/plugins and texture resizing technique and guidelines simply use the search engine of our site ,i,e search result
just a side note though, do not expect miracle from this app Chainfire 3d is an application that acts between the game and the processor/GPU. The reason being lagging of HD games is that, processors cannot process this much HD graphics from the game. So the processor/GPU becomes overloaded and will become a hang or slow performance. What ChainFire 3d do is, it captures the graphics of the game, then convert it to a low quality and then sent it to the processor/GPU. Now the processor can handle it mate.
Hi,
Can you please help me with the link.
And Also I want to upgrade in to jellybean. I have downloaded Odin but I am not aware how to do it. Can you please explain how to do it in detail..Bit confused with all the Tutorials.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
@2wordsdlife, which part was confusing mate? If you are referring to chainfire 3d, You can always find more comprehensive tutorials through search ability embedded into xda forum.
looking for an Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean update from Samsung, you are wasting your time ( don't be confused with some custom mod, they are modifying build.prop to bring some selected stuff into your poor device. In reality the latest official Android version, was 2.3.6 Gingerbread for s5830i).
This post is a good place to concentrate your effort. If need more advice on custom roms, custom kernels, read our related discussion topics on popular mods, also search developer section of this sub forum for kernels, mods, etc,,etc,,
You don't need odin for installing cm 11, just go to Google or xda search and type cm 11 for s5830i, but its complicated. Second solution is to download an armv6 version and use chainfire with root, you will get playable fps

only rumour but the up coming Z1 is able to run android apps
Sent from my SM-T320 using XDA Free mobile app
Rumor sadly incorrect: Android apps won't run on the Z1.
I'd love to find a way to install Android apps on the Gear S. The Tizen app store is such a joke
Google won't let Samsung get away with installing Google Play Market apps, especially Google services apps on a non-sanctioned OS, especially the one Samsung is hoping to compete against Android OS. So, the best Samsung can do is create its own app market and hope devs are supporting it. I seriously doubt this will take off. Samsung can't even make its own Android app work correctly across its own ranges of Android phones. They know how to make fantastic phones but their software has always below average.

Glad im not the only one.
I too have been searching for how to do this. Did you ever succeed?
I found some android 5.0 links from a google search, but they look fake. wonder if CM11 or CM12 would work OR the method used for the gear 2. Sure would be nice. i almost got the ZGPAX S8 (nearly the same guts), but opted for the Gear S (for the scren) w/ hopes for the eventual android ROM.
Fingers Crossed,
:good:
hasnt happened, there is nothing in the works, any links on google that say otherwise are false....
