Fireworks filmed with LTEvo. - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

The camera on our phones seems to not really like random flashes of light at night. It did turn out much better than my the video my buddy took on his iPhail...err iPhone.
**Note: Due to the fact that the fireworks were firing off VERTICALLY and I was only about 20 feet away. I had to shoot the video VERTICALLY in order to capture as much of the fireworks as possible.**

Ha, you called it "iPhail". I see what you did there. So clever.

No camera phone should be expected to take these types of photos with great clarity. I think you were expecting too much of this device.

I'm not saying the video on the phone isn't what I was expecting. I was just saying it doesn't seem to cope perfectly with bright flashes of light. Frankly I'm quite impressed by the quality of video this cellphone puts out.

You should set the iso so it isn't on auto. That why it won't keep trying to automatically adjust, which slows things down.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. My buddy just showed me a video from his iPhone, and it actually turned out pretty damn good. I was very impressed with how it did with no light, and then all the fireworks going off...
And everyone knows I'm completely ANTI-IPHONE around here, but it impressed me enough.

I didn't take any video last night, but I was taking photos and managed to grab this.

You two do realize that the ONLY reason I took the video vertically is because the fireworks were shooting directly up into the air right? The videos would have been rather retarded if filmed horizontally seeing as how I was only about 20 feet away when they went off. So how about next time prior to flaming a video for being filmed vertically, you actually use your head and think "hmm I wonder if there was a reason behind it being filmed this way?" Dumb a**es.

By recording it in portrait, you've negated the possibility of anyone else viewing it on YouTube properly in full screen the way you recorded it on your phone. Under no circumstances should you ever record in portrait mode.

What a Nice Screen I have Mr. Sprint Man

So check this out..
I had my phone charging in my truck. I then went into 7-11 cuz kids were bugging me for a slurpee on this hot as F day. Was in store maybe 10mins.
When I got back into my truck I went to use my phone and it had frozen up so I did a battery pull to boot it back up. After reboot my screen is cut off 1/2" on right side (shown below and taken with my wifes crappy IPhone 4). Now the weird part is..I took a screen shot to post to see if anyone had this problem and after looking at the screen shot the screen shot looks normal.. WTF!!
Anyone have this problem?
Anyways!!
I took it to the sprint store and my replacement will be in Tues.

The screen shot looked normal because the actual homescreen on ur phone is there, however part of your LCD is burnt out.
At least you get a replacement!
Heck Yea!!
And without having to pay $100 deductable
That's actually a known issue the latest version of software was supposed to fix. I think.

Since you have half a phone, they should only charge half price to use it.
So if I update theres a chance it will fix or is it to late? I know with update I'll lose root but I am getting a replacement anyways,
OMG!
I wonder what hboot will come with the new refurb phone?
I hope its not 1.50

Remember that Galaxy S3 that "exploded" for "no reason"?

I was serious when I said I really, really doubted that he had no hand in it. Devices don't just randomly explode. This is what you get when you attention-whore on the internet. This is also what happens when you accuse a large company of creating a faulty flagship phone.
I hope he at least has to give back the phone that was hand-delivered to him.

I defended Samsung because I didn't believe for a moment that the phone "randomly exploded". The idiot tried to claim it did, and got his ass handed to him when the Fire Department found out it had to do with microwave damage.

Sometime should conduct an equal experiment and microwave an lte and see how it holds up under similar circumstances as the sg3. Then compare build quality.
And no, in not doing it with mine. Lol

It's still Samsung's fault. The phone should have handled its time in the microwave much better than it did. I'm sure my EVO LTE would have came out of the microwave with perfectly cooked hot dogs and Ramen Noodles.

[MOD] Increase Camera Audio/Video/Image Quality (Updated - 12/25/2012)
I know the camera is different from ours, but he said it was derived from the nexus, so do you think its possible to edit for the at&t version?

Install it and find out. What can it hurt? Just be sure to do a backup.

Well, the mod is for the Nexus 4 which shares the same camera hardware as us not the Sprint version so I would assume it would work. I saw the Nexus 4 post about it awhile ago but am keeping completely stock until I have a reason to go modding/flashing.
I just checked, and yes it will work on our phones. Both the AT&T and Sprint variants have the same exact media_profile.xml file, so you should be able to just follow the instructions in that thread.
Anyone try it? I'm wondering if it helps at all.

LoL, I'm getting the itch, too. If I weren't flying to Vegas at 4 am, I'd be the guinea pig.
I'll probably try it tonight when my insomnia acts up. I'll let you guys know
So I flashed it and took a couple pictures, it seems like the quality is better all around, but then again it might just be a placebo.

I really don't see a difference...

To be honest, I don't see much of a difference either...

Hmmm, look at LG OPTIMUS G on the box for the phone in both pics. Much more clean. The CD Rack to the side is more legible too.
I can see a difference in clarity zooming in on the phone on the box, its not crazy better, but hey its not gonna hurt nothing or make you're pics worse

Well it's not going to turn the camera into a Lumia, but it's improved and that's enough to be thankful for it.

After looking at it on my computer instead of phone, I can easily tell the difference (due to the bigger size). It's not a huge difference but definitely noticeable, the mod seems to improve clarity and sharpness slightly.

It me its a pretty good difference, you can see all the CD's in the CD rack are much more legible to read, and those items werent even focused on. The log on the box is also much better to read.

I've only looked from my phone and my eyes are old. Along with the rest of my body. LOL

Well I'm looking at these on my OG with Tapatalk and even I can tell that the box looks more naturally orange in the second pic. Can't say anything about clarity from the thumbnails but still. This mod was more about video anyway I thought.
