It's a noise cancellation mic

It is also the left microphone when recording.

It is also clearly indicated in the manual.

Microphones according to the manual... top and bottom. I don't like them where they are because it forces extra holes in my otterbox defender. Maybe they could move them next to the home button on botton and cam near top.

It kinda looked like a 3d-camera.

Microphone looks like 3d camera?
I quess that op doesn't mean those two spots between ear speaker and front camera, those are light- and proximity sensors.

That small hole is known as microphone which is in between camera and flash
that small microphone is technically called as noise cancellation circuit which receives the voice calling signal and it filters the environment disturbance noise which it could eliminate and receives only noise signal.Let's go to this link or website usetechinfo.com to read full article

the upper mic is for noise reduction, it doesn't work like the mic at the bottom.
How on earth do you manage to put your thumb on the Mic while calling???
Other than that like the post above, the upper Mic is used for noise reduction in calls (Only in video recording it functions like a Mic )

bro on this earth all thing is possible about 3000 years ago man has no clothes on his body and in the 21st century we have a lot more than phones

Speakers

Will it have front facing speakers, or on the bottom, or on the back.
At present, we are having the best smart phones with front facing speakers online.

What does that even mean? He's asking about the G5 specifically. I think it will still be on the back.

Always try and remember that English may not be someone's first language.
On Topic: I'm hoping that the speaker is at least on the bottom. Back speakers kinda blow.
Bottom as on the renders I can't see a speaker at the rear. I don't think I know of of a metal phone with speakers on the back? I am sure there is but can't think of any.
It's on the bottom, check the photos on AP
When I watched the livestream, I could have sworn they pointed to the grate on the top of the phone saying that was the speaker.. Maybe I misremembered, so I'll go back and watch again. Okay so yeah the speaker is on the very bottom of the phone. Looks like 3 dashes.
Looks like bottom speakers from the videos, and I hope it is cause I'd much rather have bottom speakers than back speakers.

HELP! Accidentally poked microphone hole at the top. Mate 10 pro

I'm previously using s8 so I accidentally poked the microphone hole. Thought it was a simcard slot.
Will this affect the IP rating? How do I test if I damaged something?
Thanks!

can't tell.. maybe you just poked the material not the entire mic, because the mic itself inside must be sealed. that material on the top of the mic is to keep dust and dirt away.. again it depends on how deep you pushed.
To check if the mic is damaged you can use the recorder app in normal mode, and make a recording of you first talking with the top of the phone directed to your mouth and that the bottom.
Listen back to the recording with headphones.
What was the result? Is it OK?
DUDE..I did the same thing on the same phone for the semi same reason (Samsung). So..what happened?...is it fine?
hahahaha welcome to the club, 'been there done that' and the worst part is that I've done it more than once. Apparently it wasn't deep enough as to cause serious damage ! Lately the Huawei and the Note 9 are sharing the same sim card so things like that happen.

I do feel a bit better reading this....I did poke it a couple of times and pretty hard too...but I think its fine..I did the recording test and there is more noise on the bottom mic than the top..and they both work when the other is blocked...lmao...sure gave me a fright
did the phone will still waterproof after poked the hole
lel, just did the same. how dumb design is it to have the hole the same size and shape ffs.

why dumb design? you can clearly see that the mic is on the top as there is NO tray, which is obviously on the left ... damn xD

It's on the top of Samsung S7, Note 9... so... yea, unless it's an industry standard, it's NOT okay to do this IMO.

who knows? this is not a vivo forum, but Huawei. also you can try to find a teardown video or so for your phone, so you could see the internals.
Ejector tool cannot damage mic...
Cool video... this answers the age old question, "I mistakenly poked the mic hole with the ejector tool, did I damage the mic?"... The answer is no... I'm sure all phone manufacturers thought of this... on pretty much every phone, the actual mic is off to the side internally...
YouTube: at about 3:52 into the video.
Huawei P30 Pro Teardown! - How does a 'Periscope Camera' work?

I'm an idiot... What's the small hole at the top of the V30?

asd
The small top hole is one of the microphones. There's an identical one on the bottom of the phone. So, you can make stereo recordings.
https://goo.gl/images/VqxsYw
The earpiece actually turns into a 3rd microphone for high decibel environments, like live concerts.
But that top one is one of the two "regular" microphones.
Thanks, I thought so. Is it only for recording, or for noise reduction too? Recording I don't care about. Also, should I plug it with glue?

On autopilot I was going to put in a SIM card in my brand new phone and pressed where the hole was on my previous phone. Bad mistake, I guess... I probably put it right through something vital. Because I used the small hole at the top of the phone. Not the side. The light wasn't all that good, so I didn't notice that there was no SIM holder there. My guess is that it is a mike of some sorts, but I tried to record sound and had no problems with that. And it seems like there's a mike at the bottom of the thing too. So what did I mess up this time?
Edit: And does this mean that the phone isn't water resistant anymore? Can I stuff a bit of black silicone glue (the type used in bathroooms) in there with the pointy tool to make it water resistant again?
Edit 2: Oh, please drop the idiot jokes. I know it! Googling I have seen that I am far from the only one that has done that, I just would like to know exactly what it is on this phone, and if I should plug the hole to keep i waterproof. That's rather important for me, because I am an avid hobby crawfish and crab fisher and will probably get water splashing over this.

Aren't there barometer measuring apps for that ?
I read that by checking on pressure you can find out if your phone is still water resistant

How about fixing it?
LG V30 Microphone Replacement

If you don't want to tackle it, cell phone repair shop can.
That top mic is probably used for noise reduction during phone calls (since it's the top mic and you would speak into the bottom one), but used for recording stereo when actually recording? I'm sort of guessing on this.
If someone who is audio has better answer, jump in.
zacharias.maladroit, I have also read that. But I have read that it doesn't work as well, since the holes "breathe", they are mes of goretex or similar material. But I'll try anyway, thanks.
ChazzMatt, Interesting, thanks! Looking at that video at around 4:55 it may seem like the pin must have penetrated to the side of the microphone! I think I see the pinhole to the right of where the actual microphone is. As for fixing it, I am far to clumsy. But using a shop is of course an option, the only thing is that the phone is brand new and I'm guessing I'll loose the warranty for that. But I think I will first of all find out if the microphone isn't damaged, and then I will see what happens when I cover the hole. If it doesn't change the call qualty I will probably choose (at least for now) to glue shut that pinhole. If it is a problem for call quality I can maybe live with that using a silicone case and a piece of electrical tape over the pinhole when I go out to fish.

Yeah, 4:55 - 5:30 on that video shows taking out the old mic and putting in the new, for anyone else who needs to do it.

There's one or two speakers?

I notice that only the right speaker works. The other one is just cosmetic or there's a way to activate it?

Motorola One has only one speaker (bottom-right with screen up). The „other one” is just a symmetry design feature.
