Anybody know OEM for Archos 80 G9 screen? - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anybody know what oem screen the 80 g9 uses? My girlfriend dropped her tablet and if they don't cover it under warranty I am confident I can replace the screen, I just need to know where to find one. I went to Ali Baba, and all I could find were complete tablets. A google search turned up nill as well. Has anybody had their tablet apart and noted the serial for their screen? I don't want to crack it open just yet because we may be sending it in for a repair but if they won't do it for free I'd love to be able to find one on my own. Thank you for your time.

Hi, I know of no OEM manufacturers, however I am considering selling/scrapping my tablet for parts. The screen is in perfect condition. How much are you looking to pay?

Is it a turbo? Because if it's a turbo the screen may draw too much power or might require more ram than my poor little bugger has. I understand that the turbos ship with a brighter higher resolution screen but it might be here-say.
What's the problem with your tablet is it bricked or are you just tired of having it?
The oem manufacturer for the screens in the 80 g9 are innolux, however I can't find where to buy them wholesale.
Customer service is atrocious and only want to have my girlfriend spend $120 to send it in and have their techs replace the screen. I don't see why they can't just tell me where I can get the screen myself. Or offer to sell me the part, considering they'd make more money selling me the part with shipping than paying the poor bastard to replace the screen but oh well.
I'm currently in a bidding war on Ebay on a tablet but I'd be more than happy if you could pm me what you want for the tablet.
Also sorry for the delayed response, I'm having trouble setting up this forum to notify me when there is a comment on the thread.

Yes, i have the turbo. 80G9. My girlfriend bumped it while it was charging on a table, it hit the floor screen up and landed on carpet. It only fell about 3 feet, but with the short heavy USB cable and cheap connector point, the micro-USB port snapped right off. Everything else is in tact, and it still turns on, the charger is the only issue. I did take the case apart to see if I could solder it back on, however it has 3 tiny mount points, and I dont think i have the equipment or skills to do that. It still turns on with the screen unclamped (every cord is plugged in) but it only has about 8% battery in it, so I'm gonna save that to either wipe the hard drive from recovery, or sell it for parts.
I'm not sure if the screen requires more power. Do you know if it actually does or not? I had the 1ghz version and the turbo doesn't appear to be any brighter.

Hey Shano I pm'd you.

I sent u another PM, message me back if u get it..

I need HELP!
Hey guys! I need to replace my broken screen from my Archos 80 G9 turbo HDD. How and where to find a new one? Could you help me? Please!!!! :crying:

[Q] Folio 100 replacement LCD

Somehow I managed to break the screen on my Folio 100.
I want to at least try and replace the screen(which according to what I've read and seen shouldn't be too difficult).
It uses the N101L6-L0D screen from Chi Mei Optoelectronics, if you google "N101L6-L0D specs" the first link to appear should be a .pdf with all the technical specs of the LCD.
Based on the specs on the .pdf could you recommend a superior screen that would work on it, the Folio 100 LCD is annoying, you have to either hold it directly at your face or upside down to not get that annoying color change.
And please don't reply with "Just buy a new tablet" like I see so many others do, that's not what I asked for.

Here in Iceland I bought my Folio for 70.000 ISK, it will cost me around 15.000 ISK to repair the screen, I like my Folio, I replaced the Android 2.2 with 3.0, giving me the android market which made the tablet 10x more useful.
So I'd like to salvage this thing.
First I must say I have no experience with these sellers or their products. Use Paypal so you get protection from being scammed.
If you search for "Toshiba Folio" on eBay you get a list of stuff related to the Folio, and among them are two Italian sellers selling screens for the Folio.
I'm not allowed to post direct links, but if you search make sure you do a worldwide search. I think their listings are done on eBay Italy.
You could try asking them about the quality of the screens. The price is reasonable.

[Q][Discussion] Heavily broken screen -- when to fix?

Hi there!
I'm from the Sony Xperia S section, but I have a question.
My friend's i9300 fell out of his pocket when he was just getting in his car. Somehow, he drove over it, stopped the car on the driveway and went to see what he drove over.
The screen -- all, glass, the AMOLED screen and the digitizer -- is completely shattered, not working at all. The phone, however, seems perfect inside (also boots up and connects to the PC correctly).
Not rooted, no bootloader unlock (or whatever that's called on these sides of XDA ), nothing. He's a noob user, only made calls, SMS and occasional pictures.
So he (having lots of cash) said if I can fix it, but if not, I can keep it. We saw that a new digitizer/screen/glass combo costs around 140$, used about 130$ (take into account that this is central europe, not USA, Canada, UK or Germany -- the delivery fees from anywhere but Slovenia are 50€ for each package).
In the end, I get to keep the phone. It's a nice piece of hardware and I'd like to see how it'd do as a daily driver and to see how development is going around here (seeing as you people already have PA 3+ and other goodies). But damn, that's just too expensive for a screen (note that a Xperia S screen+digitizer+glass costs ~30$, and this one has more ppi at only 4.3").
My question to you is, how long do I have to wait for working pieces of hardware to emerge that will cost around 60$? Note that a new Galaxy S2 screen costs around 60$ and last year's first Sony flagship screen costs 30$.
I'm thinking one more year, maybe?
Thanks a lot for any help at all (PLEASE, make this a discussion thread, I want to read your opinions and speculation ),
--someone755
P.S.
Also, if my 'one year' theory turns out to be true, it'll be just in time for a replacement phone. Would you guys recommend the S3 in 2014 (or even in 2013)?
You must be thinking that I'm going mad with using a 2012 phone in 2014-15.
P.P.S.
If anyone knows where the SMS messages are stored and can tell me how to get them (IF that's even possible) off the phone without the need for a screen, that'd be great... It just seems like I at least own the SMS messages to the guy...
P.P.P.S.
The notification light is blinking in blue... Does that mean something is wrong or is it just a notification...? I figure the latter, since I heard the sounds of it booting to Android...
Also, there's this weird water-y sound effect when I press the home button. Could that be the famous lockscreen?
Sorry for being a pain, I'm just visiting to see if it's all worth it (might sell the parts if the components never get any cheaper)...
Notification blue, is just that.
Sms, you could possibly get an hdmi cable if you are sure about fixing it in the long run and you will be able to use the phone through your tv...until you wait for a screen.

Thanks for the reply.
Well I don't feel like buying a new cable adapter every time I have a phone to fix, plus there's no way to control the screen because the digitizer is also broken.
I don't really care all that much for fixing the phone, I'd just like to hear your opinions on how long until prices go down to see if fixing is even worth it...

You can plug a mouse in too
The price sounds about right. I struggle with an Xperia screen being $30 though. What? The Screen is always the most expensive component. Digitisers / Glass is always cheap £15, £20 for most phones but screens (LCD, AMOLED etc) are always expensive.
I don't see these components coming down. There will be a need for them for years as some people will run their Galaxy for 3+ years.
In 5 years, the prices could even go up due to rarity
But if the USB port is already connected to a screen, there isn't any more place for a mouse...
For the Xperia S screen, I found you a link: http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-sony-xperia-s-lt26i-lcd-screen-and-digitizer-assembly.html So I missed it by $10...
Well I also thought about the price increase, but I'm seeing the S2 as an example... It started out at about $100 but nowadays you get one for $60...
I guess the best thing is to wait, no?
Wait only if you don't mind no supply or a price increase .
Trade that off versus your thought that its overpriced at present .
jje
Well if prices for the screen increase, thee prices for the other components should also increase, right? In that case, if prices don't fall, I can sell what's left of the phone... Right...?
Since everything is working perfectly, I don't see why not...

Ah ok. It's an LCD screen though, not AMOLED. ...and much smaller. so it's not a fair comparison
Oh, I completely forgot about the Amoled screen...
Though isn't it more expensive to make a screen with more ppi, albeit smaller? Would be more logical (as it's harder and more complex). But then again, the way Amoled pixels are arranged is also the most complex thing ever...
Quoting GSMarena
For the S2; Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors | 480 x 800 pixels, 4.3 inches (~217 ppi pixel density)
And for the S3; Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors | 720 x 1280 pixels, 4.8 inches (~306 ppi pixel density)
I've also read a lot that the S2's screen wasn't as breakable as the S3's. Could that be one of the causes that the S2's screens started off way cheaper?

Well why not?
If the screens become rare, shouldn't that also mean that, say, vibrators would also become rare?
I've been thinking about connecting the thing to a screen and using it as a poor pc for media (movies, pics, etc.) or a small personal file server. In theory, that could work, since this still is a pretty powerful device...
Also, I've seen some Chinese sites selling fake screens and digitizers. I have yet to find a version that is compatible with the i9300... Again, would be grateful for any links
Screens are the most common things to need replacing due to accidental breakage

Digitalizer broken or disconnected?

Good evening!
My S3 has just fallen down. Now only physical buttons, back and menu are working. Screen has no physical damage but the digitalizer is not getting ANY of my touch. This makes me thing that it can be the internal connections. If it was broken I believe some screen zones would be still recognised. Then, I believe (and hope) digitalizer is in a well state. What are your thoughts about this?
Apart from this, how can I open the phone to check the connection. I've seen videos in which they replace the screen but I don't know if I can follow this procedure since, if it is still working, I don't know if I could re-glue it again.
Please, what can I do?
Thanks!

It is very possibly your digitizer can be broken but not show any physical damage. If it happened right after a fall then this is a real possibility.
Do not try to pull the screen sections apart you will damage it. Get a new whole screen assembly
Thank you very much for the answer!. Could you please send me a reference of the whole screen assembly I need? You mean digitalizer plus lcd? just digitalizer? Could you provide me a good but cheap one?.

You will need the glass, lcd and digitizer. The term "whole screen assembly" should be enough.
Thanks for the info. I've seen prices of this replacement set and it's about 100$ (80€). I don't think I should pay so much for a 2-year phone. I am thinking about taking a Xiaomi redmi note 4g for 169€.

Yer it is pricey, atleast in my country almost just as expensive to by a new s3 rather than get a new screen when you way up the aspects of a new phone plus the warranty

In need of Original LCD

Skip the sob story if you don't care.
So, I finally got everything situated with my phone in terms of restoring it's original quality. Yay, until i decided to test out the waterproofing on the new adhesive I got. To skip to the point, I did a stoopid and had to order a replacement LCD on Ebay.
As some of you may know, (I barely found out the hard way) Ebay doesn't exactly have the most reputable sellers when to comes to our phone and displays. (watch out, they'll get yah. I simply don;t trust ebay anymore) So, for 50 bucks I got a horrendous display which pixels bleed whenever a photo pops up. Being a stoopid monkey that I am, I decided it was bearable. Until i got worse and the display is unusable.
(end sob story)
In conclusion, I need an LCD yo!!! I was considering getting a Z5, but it be so expensive. I'm willing shell out a hundred or so for a LEGIT screen replacement. (maybe one of those who have moved on to another phone is willing to sell) (I hope asking for this doesn't go against any rules) Or even better, direct me to a legitimate site that does provide original Z3v displays. Because for the life of me, my Googling has turned up nothing. Appreciate the help.
Yeah. I need new LCD to, but dont know which should i buy.
I broke my screen second time in one year, this time i want to replace it by myself...
you can try to use l50u screen

Lines all over the screen and it flickers

Hello guys, I hope for you expert opinion here. Yesterday I picked up my beloved Note 4 Global version and saw lines all of the screen, and it flickers all the time. It is definitely a hardware issue because the lines can be seen on the boot and in the TWRP. Also if I apply a bit of pressure on the phone on different sides, sometimes you can see the lines changing, ones they diapered for 5 minutes completely. I have dropped it a day before, from my trousers pocket, but it was fine for a while after that...
I bought this phone from www.gearbest.com and I live in Germany. After reading all the reviews about the warranty procedure I decided that I don't want to send it back to gearbest, because in the best case scenario I will get the phone in half a year, in the worst I won't get it at all.
My question is, do you think the fault is in the motherboard or LCD screen itself? I could buy a new LCD for 25 euros and replace it myself.

I know it's not hard, I've done it to other phones as well. The question is if it's the screen, or the motherboard.
Found a screen here, as far as I know, the 4X screen is compatible with Global version.

That is correct, I don't want to buy a new LCD to find out that some controller somewhere on the motherboard is dead.
Actually buying the phone was very easy. Having any kind of service is much harder. And you can't buy this phone in Germany. They don't sell them here.
