[Q] Strange boot looping problem- Gt-i9100 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone! Im a noob here so I do aplogize if this problem has been solved/mentioned. Well, this is my problem: Ok so my stupid friends took my phone when I wasn't using looking and screwed up my pattern lock so I have to enter my email and password to unlock my phone, right? Well, I was busy so instead I switched off my device and kept it in my pocket. After an hour or so, I felt my phone getting heated up which was weird because it was turned off, so I checked on it and this is what I see: The boot animation was showing up and is stuck at the 'S' logo flashing bit with it vibrating occasionally, the 'menu' and 'back' buttons lights up once in awhile. Oh, and the occasion screen bright up. So i went ahead and tried holding the power button and the same thing happend but this time it lets me in and for a few secs..thn comes out to the boot animation again:crying:... So now I suspect that the lock process has crashed ...any way to fix it? The main thing here is that I need to somehow access the device long enough to copy my stuff to my computer. And of course, fix my well loved phone sorry if my post is very long.....Please help and thanks in advance!!!!!

Can you boot to recovery? (Home + Power + Vol. up)? If you can just do factory reset.

Ill try it, but will it affect all my files?

Your files should be fine. You will lose your app and user data but that's a small price to pay for fixing your phone.

if u can enter to cmwr, then u could make a nandroid back up. this way when u flash up a new rom you could try restoring only data information in advance options in Nandroid back up..
is your phone rooted?? do u have a CMWR???
if not, the only thing u could do is flash a new rom through ODIN.

[SOLVED][with help of ddotpatel] Something BAD happened with Nandroid Restore - HELP!

Hey,
I have a huge problem, people.
I've had some issues with one of the ROMs that I tested, so decided to restore my Nandroid Backup. I've wiped everything and runned the Nandroid Restore of my previous - working ROM (EzHero 1.2.1) - everything looked as if it worked fine, the operation was completed succesfully. So, given that I've chosen reboot phone option in the Recovery (AmonRa 1.6.2) and it turned on with a regular booting screen and just stuck on it. It's been like 2hrs and I'm constantly stuck on this "loading" screen and cannot turn the mobile off either by holding Power or Power Home or Power Home Back. Nothing. I don't wanna take the battery out as I heard that it can be devastating.
So, to clarify all of that, I have a phone connected via cable (yet no connection through ADB) to PC, so the battery would not discharge and the phone itself is stuck on booting logo/animation, the one just before it goes into the usual desktop screen.
How can I go about it to restore it?
Thanks!
Do you have App2SD ?? If yes it may took ages to boot when you do a first boot... But that only works if you had done a Nandroid + Ext...
Its fine to take your battery out,... Reset and give it another try at booting. If it fails again, try booting without SD in. If it fails again, try doing another restore of your nandroid. Fail again,... Full wipe then reflash ROM.
There is only risk of bricking when flashing a new radio and interrupting the process.

I do have apps2sd but haven't done +Ext.
When I soft-reseted the device it obviously went into boot loop again BUT I have managed to connect it to my PC through ADB now and wonder if I could use it to my advantage?

The problem is my phone IS stuck at boot loop and even if I soft reset it I don't have enough time to press POWER and HOME to go into Recovery so I cannot check if I could do restore. Would connection through ADB help as I currently after soft reset have it?
I have to clear something up my phone is in the boot loop but not as in that it reboots itself time after time - NO! It just sticks on the booting animation and that's it.
Oh, and running this "fastboot boot recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img" through ADB just sits stuck at "< waiting for the device >" though I _can_ list the contents of my Hero through shell.
Also when I press vol up or vol down in the state with startup screen beeing stuck I can hear it same way as if I heard it in the working phone - as in beeping when pressing up and beeping lower when down.
I'm not so clued up on fastboot commands to be honest.
Take your battery out,... Hold HOME and put your battery back in..... KEEPING HOME HELD IN
OK! Finally after finding enough courage to do so I pulled the battery out as ddotpatel advised me to - I have to say it was scary 30s, real scary. Anyway, it seemed that his advice was correct and he is in fact a very wise man - THANK YOU! Afterwards I've done all the wipes again as I did initially and instead of trying to recover it from my Nandroid backup I just gave up and reflashed it again. It didn't work, so I reformated and repartitioned the SD card and it's all good now... And I'm a happy puppy! Actually, I'm no puppy at all but I am happy nonetheless.
@ddotpatel Thank you sir! You are a Gentleman and a Scholar and I shall praise your name forever on this and other Android forums alike. ^__^ Just a quick question though: removing a battery is prohibited only when flashing radio and when the phone's on the "phone & a box/arrow" picture, right? So if I ever have an booting/issue error whilst flashing custom ROMs that do nothing to the radio I should be fine poping the battery?
I know I sad it trice already but - ddotpatel, sir, THANK YOU!

No worries, mate! My post count did not go up to 73 in like 5 days for no reason. I try to help as much as I can and also would not run into those problems if I wouldn't flash and benchmark many ROMs (posting all the stats for the same configurations & settings) here for others to decide on their own which they liked best either. ^__^

[Q] (probably) big problem with hero

Hi guys!
i just wanted to ask you a question: yesterday i tried to install the floyo rom but i guess something went wrong..after installing the rom via rom manager during the first boot the phone got stuck loading the new rom..it keeps showing "floyo" on the screen but nothing happens...it just keeps loading and loading and loading....is there any way i can boot the phone using the factory presets or something?
thx a lot
HI,
You're not in the right forum section to ask this, but anyway.
That problem could occur time to time, in fact, I had it several times. But don't need to worry, if you're phone is still booting, that's not a big problem then.
What you can do is reflash the rom like you did the first time.
But first, May I suggest you to check if you're phone is actually stock by using logcat ? Because the first boot can be quite long (in my case, it takes around 10~12 min). To do so, use your usb cable, go to command prompt and type
adb logcat
if there are things on the screen, and if that screen is moving, then just be patient...

OK. Open the back of your phone, remove the battery.
Replace the battery and you can try to boot your phone again.
Or you can directly boot into recovery. From this place you have choice to rewipe everything and reflash the rom. Or you can just load your nandroid backup; I assume you made one, did you?
boot your phone with the home button pressed(so press the home key, press hang up(so he will start) and after 10 seconds or so you're in the recovery menu
As above really..
Remove battery, then turn back on holding power and the home button.
This should bring you to the recovery ROM, in their, you can wipe your phone clean, and re flash a new ROM.
If you want to put a new ROM on your SD, you can mount the SD Via USB from the Recovery Menu, or just remove the SD and put in a card reader.
Then wipe/flash new ROM.
From your first post im guessing you tried to install Floyo? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784689&page=146 ?

open your phone up. take the battery off. The IMEI should be there along with serial number. Good luck
Touchscreen problem
Yesterday I start with a similar problem.
Using several Android builds on the same stock memory card.
The touchscreen stops responding always when I try to
reboot or turn off the phone, the same on all Android builds
and on WinMO. But locking the phone brings the touchscreen
back to life. Then I am able to unlock the phone and the
touchscreen keeps working OK.
Will try flashing the updated stock ROM.
you run hspl3 again , but select the other option with the extra.oooo, 208.000 , by default hspl3 installs the one to allow roms to work,,, when you rerun hspl3 select the other to set back to original so you can send back to factory anfter u install the t-mobile original rom

I'm hoping that you made a backup before you flashed the rom. If you did you should be able to boot into recovery and restore.
lol i think thats what i did. I backup everything using Titanium and rom manger on my sdcard. i just dont know how boot into recovery and restore. thanks for the reply

Here's the stock rom: csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP509BK/ATMOBK/V10l_00/V10L_00.kdz
and you'll need KDZ(run it in compatibility mode if using win7 64bit):

boot phone into emergency mode: Home+Volume Up+Power
connect to PC via USB and flash with KDZ in 3qct +Emergency mode

still nothing :[
Use it as a vibrator from now on, if u can. Haha j/k.
Go for warranty and see what happens..
lol hmmm i wonder what males can do with that.....
i was thinking about doing that and see if i could pull a fast one on radioshack
You did a nand backup before flashing Megatron, right? If so, you should boot in recovery using Home + Vol Down + Power and restore it from there. If not, you have no alternative but flashing the rom again (or any other rom). Be sure to wipe everything from recovery before that.
If that fails, you should get the official rom for your location and flash it with kdz (there is a very well done guide here on XDA for doing that, search for it).
And consider flashing Void next time, is more stable and has the same features (and more) as Megatron (hwacc, jit, oc, stagefright etc).
In any case, if the phone boots, even if gets stuck on LG splash screen, it is not bricked. It can be re-flashed easily, just follow the steps in the guides.

press and hold down HOME + VOL DOWN while the phone is off, then turn it on, keeping that 2 buttons pressed until recovery appears.
But if you have used rom manager, this won't work. Your only chance to unbrick is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883314
rom manager don't support yet optimus t
The same happened to me when I flashed LOL rom. I was reading that it can sometimes take up to 5 minutes to reach the boot animation. My phone reached the boot animation in 6-7 minutes. How long did you wait before you removed the battery?
thats not working either. all i saw was a bunch of ppl with the same problem and eventually sent it to LG service
ummm like about 3 minutes cause i was freaking out lol. that could be it :/

I was about to pull mine out too after 3-4 minutes. I was freaking out also but had to go to the washroom when this happened. When I came back, the phone booted. If I didn't use the washroom, I would have bricked my phone, lol.
A lot of people have this problem because on the Optimus One it takes forever to load the first time. My samsung vibrant was extremely quick, 1 minute max
as soon as u send to warranty, the faster u get ur usable phone back
or just use it as vibrator

[Q] Help. Stuck in bootloop after changing theme

Can someone please help me with this problem. I downloaded a theme from market for cm7, the rom i am using now. I restarted the phone, and now its stuck on bootloop. I have recovery installed, and i know i can flash a new rom or the same one, but i dont want to lose all my contacts and data that is on the phone. Is there a way to start the phone without flashing, or at least retreve the data, thanks
Still problems
Guys, the problem kinda solved itself. I took out the battery, put it back in. And put the phone on the charger. I didn`t turn it on, but after about 20 minutes, it turned itself on. Really dont know how? I managed to change back the theme, and delete it. I also backed up all my data. But i still have problems. My status bar has disapered, and my fonts and icons are still stuck on the previous theme. Maybe a simple reset will fix that, but im afraid to do it because it could again be stuck on bootloop. Any ideas?
I have same problem with you.
After I instaled my cooked theme from uot kitchen,my phone stuck in bootloop, and then I try to make booting with hold power button + home keys (center button)
And it's work for my e10i with nAa-13 + minicm7 v2.1.1
Keep trying to make it your phone booting.
Maybe not work on your phone but it works to me anytime I got bootloop.

Try a "Wipe Data/Factory reset" from CWM.
This might help you as it will turn your phone to a "just installed" state...
Of course, first backup anything that might not be on sdcard, like contacts etc...
