Exchange mail configuration throws "Incorrect User Name or Password" error - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am trying to configure my corporate (Exchange) email account on my Samsung Galaxy S3. I have tried more than 50 times and it always says 'Incorrect User Name or Password". I have verified my user name and Password and I am 100% sure that they were correct. I have tried entering every possible combination for the filed "Domain\Account Name", without any success.
On the other hand, I downloaded TouchDown and tried configuring same mail in it. It worked like a charm with the same corporate mail and same credentials. Not sure why the default android email client is failing to configure. Is this a bug in android default email client. If so, is there any work around possible? I am trying to figure this out for a long time and couldn't find any useful info in Google also.
Thanks in advance for any kind of help...

Googlemail through exchange activesync setup?

Hi there, I am currently using the Google Mail app on my Hero for recieving my email through push.I did use the built in Mail app, but because it only allowed me to recieve every 5mins, I changed over.
Anyhow, I have read on here that if you set it up through Exchange Activesync rather than "Other email", then you can set it up so you recieve your emails instantly.Only problem is, I don't know exactly how to set it up.
I put in my email addy and password on the first screen, press next and it comes up with the next page listing server address, domain etc. What do I put in each section, as when I put my email add in the address bit, server is googlemail.com, domain blank, username my email address, and password my email password and then press next, it says "verifying account information" then a box comes up saying "Error.Authentication failed. Please verify username and/or password"
Could someone please give me a guide or some pointers as to how I get my googlemail working through mail with exchange actvesync?Any help would be much appreciated!

Try this.
It's instructions for the iPhone, but the general set up is the same.

Cheers, that worked, I forgot to tick the SSL box so that's why it kept coming up the error

Remote Tracker opens Outlook instead of sending email silently

Newbie here having trouble with Remote Tracker 0.4.2-0 on my TMOUS HD2 and haven't found an answer yet. When I send email commands to RT, such as rt2#egp, my phone just sits there in standby and when I unlock it Outlook is open with the email message ready to send. Anyone have an idea why and what I need to do? When I go to Outlook Contacts>Menu>Options I get an error report, "A problem has occurred with poutlook.exe," then comes up with List view settings, that's it, I don't know if there is supposed to be more and not sure if this has anything to do with the message not being sent. Everything is stock except for a few added apps and I just did a hard reset before reinstalling my apps after some experimentation. I don't use Outlook or even set up an email account on phone and haven't made any tweaks I can think of that would effect Outlook.
I also noticed that the CELLID shows me to be in New Jersey when I'm actually in Texas, this doesn't seem to be of much use at all but I haven't tried changing CELLID settings from default.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I thought commands where you supply an email address (like, rt2#egp#[email protected]#password) would, if so configured, silently without intervention send to the supplied email addy without even having email setup in RT; however, I do have the email account in RT configured; I do not have Outlook, AOL, Yahoo, etc accounts set up in the HD2s mail app (I use Opera to go to my Hotmail account).
In RT's email setup I have only one option under Account, Activesync, is this correct?

no, you need an actual account set up that the phone can use to connect to an outgoing email server with. Just feeding it the email address you want to use is no good, as it has no m,eans to send to that address. Its a bit like giving a man with no telephone your phone number ad asking him to call you.
Choosing the activesync account wouldnt help either, as it would only send when the phone was copnnected and synced to outlook on a pc. (activesync isnt a real account, just an extension of teh outlook account on eth pc)

[Q] Adding Exchange account where username != email

So I'm trying to add a second exchange account to my phone using the stock e-mail app (CM7). My regular account is a normal [email protected] address, and I've had it on my phone since I got it.
My other new account is a shared email address. Basically it's setup as [email protected], but I still use my regular username/password to log into it. OWA and Outlook handle this without any problem, but I'm mystified as to how to handle it with the stock email app. I've tried plenty of combinations of Domain\username\[email protected] and similar ones, but no luck so far
Is this even possible? I'm trying to avoid plunking down $20 for Touchdown if at all possible.
Just a bump to see if anyone's been able to tackle this issue. I'm still stumped.

There is a current epidemic of people failing to access their Hotmail e-mail accounts because Microsoft is experiencing problems with their Exchange Active Sync (EAS) service. The problems are intermittent, so access to Hotmail e-mail accounts are also intermittent. This is the case for me. Microsoft says they are working on the problems. Read about it HERE.
On the other hand, perhaps your setup for accessing your Hotmail account is with error. This is how I successfully setup the Sony tablet's stock e-mail app to access my Hotmail account.
1. Open the tablet's stock e-mail app, touch the settings icon, and select Settings.
2. On the Settings screen, touch Add Account.
3. On the Account Setup screen:
3.1. Next to E-mail Address, enter full Hotmail account e-mail address.
3.2. Next to Password, enter Hotmail account password.
3.3. Touch "Send e-mail from this account by default." to select/check or (my choice) deselect/uncheck.
3.4. Touch Manual Setup button.
4. On next screen (Account Type), touch Exchange button.
5. On next screen (Server Settings):
5.1. Next to Domain\Username, delete existing text and enter full Hotmail account e-mail address.
5.2. Next to Password, enter Hotmail account password. Note: It should already be entered correctly.
5.3. Next to Server, delete existing text and enter m.hotmail.com.
5.4. Touch "Use secure connection (SSL)" to select/check it.
5.5. Touch "Accept all SSL certificates" to deselect/uncheck it.
5.6 Touch Next button. Note: Here is where you may experience a problem connecting to the e-mail server. If you receive a message saying it cannot connect to the server, wait a few seconds and touch the Next button again. You may have to repeat this step several times before you will successfully connect to the server.
6. On next screen (Account Options), select/check or deselect/uncheck the settings as you see fit and then touch the Next button.
7. On the next screen (Your Account is Set Up and E-mail is On Its Way!), rename the account if you want to, then touch the Next button.
8. When returned to the e-mail app's main screen, select your Hotmail account and you should see your e-mail messages. You may have to touch on the Refresh icon to have your e-mail messages retrieved.
Good luck.

Step 5.3 didn't work for me. However, when I added 'debug-' as a prefix it worked. Saw this on a Microsoft support post. Full txt is 'debug-m.hotmail.com'. I certainly hope they get this straightened out. This issue started after I updated my Transformer to the lastest maintenance update.

My hotmail access in email app broke down about 4 weeks ago, but it did not bother me much until I got command from above (Spouse). I started checking around and found the same procedure posted on Sony support site 6 months ago. I decided to give it a shot.
Well, step 3 did not work for me. I checked the server kids iPad was using, which was "bay-m.hotmail.com" and suddenly it worked just fine.
Hopefully this is useful to someone.

Sorry for bumping an older thread here, but the above mentioned "debug-m.hotmail.com" server has worked well for quite a while. About 3 days ago, it was no longer able to connect to the hotmail server. I removed the account and then added it again using the above steps (with debug); that fixed it last time. Not this time, though. Has anyone else run across this as well? Any new solutions?

On Step 5.1. for "Domain\Username" try "hotmail.com\[email protected]" instead of "\[email protected]"
[email protected] should be your mail address.

Forgotten email account password

Hello and I'd really appreciate if I can get some help with the issue.
I created a new "outlook" account a few days ago with my real name to use it for professional purposes. At the time, I didn't pay attention and didn't put any recovery email or phone number.
I use bluemail on my android device as the email client and setup the account with this email address.
A few days later, I have now forgotten the password completely and password reset is not working either because I didn't provide any recovery method.
So all I have now is this bluemail client where the email account is stored and I believe somewhere in bluemail's database, the password is also stored.
Can anyone help please on how to recover the password from the bluemail database files? Thanks.
