Is it Possible to Unflash an Evo 3D Flashed to MetroPCS? - HTC EVO 3D

I have an Evo 3D which is currently flashed to MetroPCS and I'm interested in getting a new phone, so I want to sell it on eBay or something of that sort. I was wondering if it's possible to revert back to all of the original Sprint settings and make it as if it were never flashed before?

If you really want to have it all back to stock, you need to relock the bootloader and then flash the Sprint stock ruu.

what do you mean relock the bootloader? The phone hasn't been rooted, if that's what you are referring to. I am hoping somebody could give me a little info on how I can do what coal said? Thanks.

Then just run the 2.17 ruu and you should be good

I assumed you were rooted since you said it was "flashed" to Metro. If it is not rooted or unlocked, then you only have to do what iTz said and run the ruu.

Alright. So do you want to lock or unlock the bootloader? Your original post it kind of confusing.

I am trying to go back to stock. I locked it before to do that but it didn't work. Now I need to unlock it again
I figured it out. I got it unlocked. But.....why can i not go back to stock? I think it is because i still have Hboot .0004. Does anybody have the PH85IMG.zip file that i can go back to stock with for my recovery? It is very important because i am getting a replacement device
Well you need to reflash the stock ruu then relock the bootloader.
Edit:
If you look in development Xboarder has posted all the ruu files. The search bar would have found that for you. Xboarder also has a thread how to go back to stock.

That is what i tried. I need the older one for my version of hboot
I'm going to go on a limb here and not read the entire thread and just by the title, I can tell you that your bootloader is locked...unlock your bootloader and you won't have this problem!!! you are probably trying to flash an older .img file or something...unlock bootloader, once you're updated there's not way of going back to an older RUU, since baseband and kernel have been altered, I suggest you do an over the air update of the phone, and install the latest RUU that xboarder has provided. the only reason you would hang in fastboot is trying to flash a mismatched RUU.

oh ok..yea...then he's probably trying to install an outdated RUU or and incompatible RUU, same thing happened to me...so just like i stated...check your firmware version update to the latest 1.43 over the air...the flash RUU from xboarders page in develpment, I beleive he has removed the older RUU's so thats why you might have to do an over the air update, since older RUU's are not avilable..if you've already updated the firmware to the latest 1.43, then I believe you should not have a problem with the RUU. If you have not updated to the latest firmware...flash the stock recovery (you need this to get an over the air update), do an over the air update, then you can use the latest RUU. hope this helps...get back to me.

What firmware are you running currently?
If you have 1.43 then you need to relock your bootloader and flash a valid 1.43 PH85IMG.zip ruu.
You may also consider going back to stock rom, unrooting by rm /system/app/SuperUser.apk then flashing the stock recovery back. Afterwards relock your bootloader.

Then you have the 1.36 partitions with a rom based off 1.43 ruu.
That's probably why you're having problems.

You may need the 1.36 ruu and since the FBI shut down a lot of the mirrors we lost the links.

[Q] Going back to stock

Sorry for the thread similar to other but mine is a little different and am looking for confirmation before I break my phone
I will be selling my Sprint Evo 3D that is rooted with S-Off. It currently has Fresh Rom 4.2(with the newest update) installed. I am likely selling it to someone who wants it stock and unrooted. Am I ok to run the ruu in the link below, anything else I need to do? Thanks!!

Thank you so much! I just wanted to verify before I bricked my phone right before I sold it.
Will this work for the 1.5hboot htc unlocked method to make it appear stock?

^This.
Only way to get rid of it is to go S-OFF. Then you can use RegawMod's S-ON Tool to restore it to complete stock, with LOCKED rather than RELOCKED in the bootloader.

S-off

I'm not new to rooting, I've rooted Samsung phones, Motorola and nexus. This is my first HTC phone and man is everything different. Could some one please explain to me what S-off is using dummy terms lol. I mean if I root but stay s-on can you still flash Roms?
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Getting Soff can unlock you boot loader and if u do it through htc devs it unlocks your our boot loader but keeps Son but it's you use revone , it would unlock Son to soff and you are able to change CID and flash radios thru hboot but you can flash any rom that is compatible to the htc one but just unlocking the bootloader. You don't necessary need soff to flash Roma but it's good to have off thru if u want to return you phone back to the carrier and remove Tampered and return done back to stock !!!!

I'm not sure the last post was clear for a NOOB. S-On / Off refers to the security of the device. With S-On, the phone will only allow you to flash things built for your device. This prevents you from messing up the phone by flashing the wrong stuff or wrong area of the memory.
You can unlock your phone without S-Off, root it, and flash any ROMs you like, so long as they are for your particular phone model.

Can I still get S-off?

I am using a T-mobile HTC One. It was previously rooted. I restored to stock by using the RUU from HTC. I unlocked the bootloader so I currently have unlocked S-on. My HBOOT Ver is: 1.44.0000. Radio Version is 4A.17.3250.20. Am I screwed or can I still get S-OFF? I have tried Revone but it's not working. Any Ideas?

Sorry dude, pretty much screwed until they find a work around for the .11 update. I made the mistake of accidentally S-On and forgetting to lock instead of relocking my bootloader (wanted to return for warranty purposes). After that I've tried pretty much everything from downgrading to the stock ROM using customs ROMS trying to edit RUU's to work with my phone (Do not try this, easiest way to brick your very expensive phone) Nothing works as of now, Htc and t-mobile screwed us by not giving us the Stock RUU they knew what they were doing. But yes you have to wait.
*NOTE* On the otherhand i did learn that i didn't need to lock my bootloader to return it for warranty purposes the guy at the t-mobile store replaced it right there for me no questions asked. But the replacement i got came with the updated .11 ROM which means no S-Off for me still.
Damn. That's what I was afraid of. I just kept reading that as long as you had 1.44 h-boot it was still possible, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Well thanks anyway for responding.

Wait I thought you could s-off with that hboot i thought 5xxx was unable to s-off
You can s-off hboot 1.44 as long as you haven't taken the latest tmobile ota or used the tmobile ruu, they patched whatever it was that allowed us to s-off in the latest version

You can downgrade from .11 to .8 using a custom ruu. Google " downgrade from .11 to .8 rootzwiki" and you'll find it.

Ok guys not to sound stupid but I've rooted plenty of phones and have had pretty much every top tier phone. I've rooted all my android phones. I just don't understand the s-off portion of it all. I have s-off and currently rooted. What advantage do I have over someone that doesn't have s-off? I got my one already rooted so I never went through the process. I guess that's why I'm confused. I'm used to Samsung phones.
When the update comes next week should i just wait for a rooted version of it? I'm assuming so.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
S-OFF basically allows you to do 2 main things you couldn't otherwise pertaining to Roms and such:
1- flash unsigned RUUs. You can flash custom firmware that don't belong to your device. IE: you can flash the newest 4.3 firmware prior to 4.3 releasing for the T-Mobile One.
2: get yourself out of a jam. Here's a great example. Let's say you flashed the stock GPE recovery and ROM. Your S-ON. You wanted the full GPE experience. Your phone took the newest update. It will flash 1.54 Hboot and update the boot loader to the black GPE version although you are S-ON and not running the GPE device. Without S-ON your SOL if you needed to go back to stock for whatever reason because the HBoot can't be rolled back on S-ON.
Its a good protection to have in your back pocket IMO

So that would explain how I am able to flash Roms from the international version. Well I guess I better be careful with any RUUs that are to come. I need to figure out how I'm going to update when the tmobile One's 4.3 update comes this week.

So once S-OFF is achieved, can flashing any RUU set it back to S-ON? If so, how can that be avoided?
I have a tmobile phone flashed with launch WWE firmware; don't care about WiFi calling or any carrier bloat, but did want the 1700 HSPA+. I'm thinking of clean flashing to latest Tmobile RUU to get the supposed LTE reception improvements, then going from there to back to launch WWE and to latest WWE (to try to retain settings).

No you would have to purposely set it back to s-on, an RUU won't do it. Would you be doing the tmobile Thu then installing WWE Rom ? Or flashing WWE RUU? Cause the ruu would just reset everything XP
