And it'll be the Evo LTE or the SGSIII.
I have handled both and like the Evo more. (rocking a Photon currently)
My one question: is there a RELIABLE AND BUG FREE workaround yet for the botched multi-tasking??
If not, I think that will ruin my experience.
Thanks.
Nope, even with everything I've tried it is still crwp when compared to other phones I've owned, specially stock android 4.1.

I tried multiple roms and so far it seems there is no fix.
For example I was on the web browser. Backed out with the home key to go to home screen. I then went to settings to change my display settings went back to browser and the whole page had to reload and refresh.
My GS2 and Galaxy Nexus was better then this phone in the performance department.
Not to mention after you start installing apps and setting up your home screens the phone just gets slower and slower and less snappy.

Yep. It's bad.
Bad enough that my lte is sitting in a drawer as I use an alpha cm9 build on my evo 3d. Multitasking, background downloads stopping, and overall sluggishness compared to stock drove me away.

Nope. Just this phone. I returned this phone due to crappy gps, lag and horrible multi tasking. Having to keep my screen on to download something was unacceptable. I'm on a s3 now and xda app was still on the last Page I viewed yesterday evening and I've played a few games and run a few other apps. Gps is best I've ever experienced on a phone. Exactly. Put me down in the zero-issues column. If I notice something, I'll search for a solution, but I won't go chasing after device hypochondria.
Agreed. I've had mine since May 24th and have had 0 issues.
The sad thing is is everyone will jump on board in a problem thread, but then again, those that are enjoying there new toy and have 0 issues won't post a thread just to say this is awesome.

Does your speaker does this?, people going over 3 iPhone or Evos and there still no happy, I seriously don't know if I'm just lucky or I really don't noticed anything cause I never had a problem like that, for example when the 3d came out they said the screen was tilted, I don't freaking now how much time you need to have to noticed that cause to me it was normal, or the "screengate" on the iPhone forums, idk man my phone is good best reception since og evo and talking and browsing the Web is amazing when you use it so I'm happy evo owner

Yet another useless thread...why oh why lord?!?
I know I shouldn't have even bothered with my useless reply...my apologies...
Mine would spontaneously reboot, maybe 5-10x in the first 24 hours I had it. Yes I did factory wipe. No I didn't restore any apps, root, or even install an SD card.
So I exchanged it, and this one seems solid, not a single reboot. I'm convinced there was something wrong with the first one.
With that being said, I love this phone.
I think I have a bum phone.
The stock browser disappears quite a bit. Text wrapping for the browser, gmail app and others isn't right. I have to swipe left and right to read.
Sense launcher has long reload times when exiting apps.
My screen is slightly protruded at the top right corner and the battery life for me yesterday off a full charge only lasted eight hours. Normal work day of checking emails, a few phone calls, browser look ups etc. No games or heavy use.
I'm going to exchange it as soon as I have time.
Stock not rooted or anything.
I miss the search button but have mostly got used to the dots.

I think this is a cache/memory issue. I think it's unloading the memory used to open the drawer, and when you come back to it it rebuilds it, hence the lag. There must be a way to keep it from doing that.

No I must agree. You may be mistaken about what is broken with multitasking on our phones. The One X fix removes the black menu bar at bottom of screen in some apps & moves recent apps to a long press of the button. Our multitasking problem is Sense not storing the state of apps once we switch from one to another so that when we do switch or multitask back to original opened app it has to completely restart. This fix does nothing to help that and I don't see HTC releasing one anytime soon seeing as that is how they intended it to work, so from their pov it is working properly.

Have you guys even read the HTC ONE X update thread or did you just read the post the OP posted and see what it contained?

I know it has nothing to do with the menu button. Its a RAM issue, and its being reported as being fixed by multiple users.. Go read the thread.

The discussion regarding multitasking is HTC's "memory optimization". That means the HOX boots with more ram available, not multitasking being what it should be - multitasking.
I really like this phone. I can deal with a moderate task killer. I don't use the phone like I do a computer. All I ask for is a level of multitasking where I can browse the web, change an album or two, send a message, and return to browsing the web - seamlessly. There is clearly enough ram, let us use it.
Sent from my EVO
Unfortunately HTC's current next generation smart phone's have been a big flop. I'm sure this update will make the current user base happy, but it will definitely not attract new users. HTC has been to slow with its updates to fix current problems and unfortunately it took me to install CM10 to finally use multitasking the way it was meant to be. Htc better fix their problems quickly or they'll be the next Nokia.

I knew I wasn't going crazy. My ram percentage was always under 25 percent. Something was very off about that. That's the same percentage my Evo 4g gave off with the same apps installed. Sometimes my Evo 4g was better. Smh. Multitasking won't be updated by HTC until October I bet

Can't speak for sense 4.1, but 4.0 butchered multi tasking. It greatly limits the amount of simultaneous processes running in the background. I could not go back to sense at this point.

There are already a few threads about this, also from the Q&A sticky at the top of this very forum:
Racer Of All said:
Q: Multitasking does not work like in previous phones, why?
A: Pretty much the phone kills applications off relatively quickly. Most ROMs have addressed this issue and you should receive better multitasking while running them. If you do not want to run a ROM a fix some people found is to go into settings> developer options scroll to the bottom and select "At most 4 processes" under Background process limit.

So no, there's no real fix for sense based ROMs. Most of the ROMs help alleviate this issue but none outright fix it. HTC also claims that this is their intended behavior and that there is no issue with multitasking, so don't expect an official fix from them.
AOSP or CM10 is your only current option.

Theres no room for a bigger battery. You would have to replace like half the phone if you were to make some sort of extended battery cover.
So I have noticed this with all of the roms I have flashed (can't remember if it happened with stock sense) but when my phone is asleep and I press the power button, the capacitive buttons turn on right away, yet the screen turns on around 2 seconds later. It's just annoying since my GF's Dinc 2 turns on instantly as well as my roommates DROID razr. Is this a Rezound thing or is my device just different? lol sorry that i point out when you do your little talking out of your ass for "facts" thing.
I have this issue happen occasionally with stock ICS (both the OTA and Global Leak), but only when it is very bright out (mid-day, sunny, cloud free) and the phone is in my pocket... pull it out in the sunlight and press the power button and it takes 15 seconds for the screen to "crank up", it's just like the brightness slider is being moved very slowly from off to where it needs to be. And it only does this when Automatic Brightness is enabled, if it is turned off and I am set at specific value, it never does it. Guess I just took it as a annoyance rather than a bug since it doesn't happen often for me.
