Black screen camera - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Ok so my camera used to work, im s-on rooted running a rom, camera app shows up, no preview and the buttons do
nothing. So, has any one had this and was able to fix it? What did you do? Any help would be appreciated.
And im a week beyond the 30 day warranty so no trading for a new one, and I don't really feel like sending it in to HTC
just yet.

You do know its one year warranty.

Yeah but I don't want to send it in. I was looking for a quick fix.

"Rooted running a rom"
That doesn't exactly help us help you.what Rom is it

Usually that is indicative of a non compatible kernel.

Unrooted and relocked bootloader, still no camera. Even did the latest RUU and no rear camera! will my htc warranty still
work since I did the htcdev unlock????????????????

If your still within your warranty time frame you should be fine. My last EVOLTE had major antenna issues and Sprint gave me a new one, even though it was rooted. And yes the tech knew it was rooted.

Ok but i'm out of my 30 day, so I'm stuck with the htc warranty. I called Htc and they said my warranty was fine. If they try to go into recovery, since I used HTCDEV will they just kick it back to me?? I don't know if some one will know this for sure, thought I would ask.

Great!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone else?
Is Sprint the only place to get the white EVO?
thats not entirely true. when i got my first white evo july 13th it had the hboot 1.15... however when i brought it into Sprint to have them swap it out due to a vibration defect, the new one that i got had hboot 1.12 on it. pretty much luck of the draw.
and yes you can only get the white evo at a sprint store
I got my whitey about a week ago, and it is now S-OFF Came with the old software, thankfully.
My white one came with 1.12. Was very relieved to find that, I thought for sure it wouldn't be.

Has anyone had their phone replace via sprint ESRP recently? What h-boot did you get?

Seems that my phone is having random restarts so im going to have to have it replaced. However I want to be able to S-OFF my device.
Has anyone had theirs replaced via Sprint's ESRP lately? I'm curious what h-boot the phones are coming with now.
Yep just last week, I cracked my screen and they replace mine. It came with the 1.12 old hboot

Me too. Got my phone a couple of weeks ago. As I came in the rep said he updated the software on the phone for me so I figured it came with the OG H-Boot.

did they replace it for free or with a charge?
Wife traded her S3 in on an EvoLTE last weekend. 1.12. I updated it anyway. She doesn't care about rooting as long as PDANET works, so figured I'd get her the fixes and root it later once the have s-off figured out. Plus it lets me get the JB update and see if it's worth while or not.
Mine is about a month old, came with 1.13, rooted, s-on.

S-Off

So how many have seen this? What's your take on it?

They probably achieved s-off via jtag.. so it will be a while before devs achieve s-off. Not saying they can't do it.

wow interesting!
What exactly is jtag? I'm not a noob but I'm definitely not a dev... I also noticed the bootloader still said locked so I'm assuming they didn't have to use HTC dev first like my EVO LTE(just left sprint for T-Mobile). I'd like to keep from having to register my phone with HTC dev in case of warranty issues

Jtag is a service that can flash motherboards, they can unbrick them, root them, s-off, ect. Its only because they have the files from HTC them selves to do it. I have talked to them before in my HTC inspire 4g days.... Ide love to have an evo, 2nd best phone on the market

[Q] If you have a rooted phone, can you use the One Up program for an upgrade?

I was just wondering will Sprint let you upgrade to a new device with the One Up Program (or with their standard upgrade program) if you have a rooted phone? I have an EVO 4G LTE rooted with CM 10.1 and my upgrade is a few months away. Did Sprint give anyone problems? Or do they not care?
Thanks
It is best that you unroot your phone, but it shouldn't hurt you. just hide the root app

My store (in Orange County, CA) is a pain in the butt with the phone being in a hacked state, if you can hide the Unlocked bootloader state, you will almost be certain to be good to go.

Thanks everyone. Hopefully sprint doesnt give me any problems.
The store here didn't care when I traded in my rooted and custom ROM Evo 3D
I've never seen em give a damn about root and custom ROMs, after having my screen replaced 3 times and speaker twice (last speaker got me a whole new bezel, but I remained S-off, so I know they didn't swap out. YMMV. If there's more than one store close, I'd just go do it with root, if they give you any guff, flash stock and hit the other one.
Sent from my EVO 4G LTE using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You can always just RUU the phone and use regaw leinads tool to set it back so the bootloader looks like it is s-off!
I've traded in rooted phones at my local corporate store and they never cared, even when I told them it was rooted.

The international one has root and recovery already. I guess htc dev works to. Maybe us at&t users will luck out.
US carriers promised to lock things down tightly after the One came out. I guess we'll see.
Good thing i have a 14 day return period lol. Cant live without root.
do we know if this device has a locked bootloader that will be hard to crack or will they actually design it to be unlocked like sony does.
im trying to decide between m8 and z2, and i know sony has been cool in the past with allowing the phone to be easily rooted and unlocked to allow flashing. i am coming from a galaxy s4 with unlocked mdk bootloader but i am upgrading and i want to be able to mod my phone
did anyone try htc-dev or kingo?

I ordered an m8 to test our cases on, but the z2 is the one I'm really looking forward to. It will have to be amazing though for me to give up my Note 3 screen real estate!

Yes the att model can be unlocked through htcdev.com . Let's just hope ATT don't pull a VZW and yank it like they did with the M7!

I would assume this voids your warranty with at&t and no relocking and going back to virgin status?

I have returned quite a few phones that I have relocked and unrooted without one problem through warranty exchange. I'm not concerned with it at all and I am on the Next program as of this phone. Besides that, the warranty is up after the 1st year. This is just my experience and I can't speak for everyone.
