NSS can't find my Lumia 800 - Nokia Lumia 800

Hi guys!
Like my brother said: if they don't know it at XDA, there is simply not a solution yet. And having tried a lot of options myself, your expertise is wanted!
How it all began:
I wanted to update my Lumia, so used CAB sender. Fine so far, but there was a bug (no keyboard) so I wanted to repair with Zune. Didn't work, it said it was impossible to repair to the previous version (code 80180083). And since it didn't started up now anymore, it bricked.
Looking for a solution, my laptop OS (Windows Vista 32-bit) didn't recognized my phone anymore as Nokia Lumia 800, but simply as 800. And now, it only recognises my phone as Unkown Device (Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM). And Windows does not detects a proper driver for this thing. Tried Nokia USB Connectivity, WindowsUSB and the drivers belonging to Nokia Care Suite but nothing gets it done.
View attachment 1231319
I thought I found the solution with NSS, but I dont get the option below which says Nokia Connection Cable, because yet again: no phone can be found!
View attachment 1231326
Or course I tried also with Nokia Care Suite, but yet again: the laptop can't recognise the brick! Although Windows does notices I put something in the USB port and it sees the Qualcomm device.
Hard reset
Not possible, since I will get a 3 second vibration followed by 3 seconds nothing and then half-a-second vibration.
Putting phone on
If I try, it will give the 3 second start-up vibration which connects to Windows Vista (using the typical sound) shortly followed by the half-a-second vibration (and a triple-short disconnect sound on Windows).
As you guys can understand, I am in quite a bad situation now. Since the phone is bought in my home country The Netherlands and I currently live in Melbourne Australia, I hope to prevent sending it back home at any costs.
So what do you think: is this one permanently bricked, or is it still possible with a specific driver to fix this? Seems to me it's purely a communication/connection problem between my laptop and my phone, but I run out of options to try..

You could try downloading Windows Phone Support Tool from Microsoft.
Turn on your phone by pressing on and the Camera button at the same time, it should then enter flash mode (release power on buzz but keep holding the camera button). When it's in flash mode you can try and get Windows Phone Support Tool to repair the phone for you.

Thank you for your reply!
I tried it before, and this is the message I got:
Communicating with device. Please wait for Recover button to be enabled.
Support Tool version 4.8.2345.0
The tool had difficulty communicating with your device. Please check your device connection and make sure you followed the instructions above. Try recovery again and if the problem persists please contact technical support.

The problem seems to be that there is absolutely nothing is installed on my phone. Therefore, the connection with my phone fails over-and-over. Doesn't matters which program I use. I am almost sure that there is a connection fail between the computer and my phone. I tried it at some other laptops but at every laptop it says 'Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MDM'. But not a single program (NSS/NCS/Phoenix/Windows Phone Support Tool) can make an actual connection with the phone, so it must be driver related.
When I try to turn it on, it starts up but then puts itself off, like if its out of energy. It doesn't charges though. What do you think: driver related or battery related?
------------------
Extra added info: when I try to flash Rainbow os-new with NSS, I get this message:
Checking file selection...Done.
Looking for NAND disk...Not found.
Are you sure you have development Qcom loader ?

What does that means?

Some more info about using NSS in an attempt to try flashing my phone
(Command: Flashing > WP7 Tools > Write OS)
Checking file selection...Done.
Looking for NAND disk...Not found.
Are you sure you have development Qcom loader ?
----------------------------------------------------
(Command: Flashing > WP7 Tools > P**** FS)
Looking for NAND disk...Not found.
Things to check:
1. Is the phone connected?(Plug to the USB)
2. Is it in the correct mode?(Try to switch to OSBL mode)
3. Have you installed the Qcom loader ?(Use the Install button)
Preparing update...Done.
------------------------------------------
(Command: Flashing > WP7 Tools > Install)
Init connection...Phone not found!
Does this shows a battery problem? I have had battery problems before with my phone, but I guess that when I try to flash (even with the extra add to NSS) it should ignore any battery level. Or should I screw it open, try it again and see if it will work then?

If it's finding it as an 800 that means it's finding it (it finds mine as an 800 when I've played with it too much).
When you enter flashing mode via camera button, do you not get the image of the phone connected to a PC on the phone?

I had that in the beginning, but those days are long gone.. I don't know how it happened that I don't get that back anymore. Perhaps because my phone doesn't boots itself completely, but falls out of its boot program. Nothing visible on screen

how can i upgrade rom with out device being detected by active sync every time i run upgrade utility it just comes up with connection error
still no luck
hi
still no luck
do i need special drivres to detect device if its in bootloader ?
it dosent show any thing in device manager when i connect it while its in boot loader
on running upgrade utility it comes back with error 260 connection error saying cannot find device (i am stuck in bootloader)
any advices ??
please help !!!!
The fact that you can still enter the bootloader means that it is not bricked, so first advice would be, as is so well presented in the Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy, "Don't Panic".
Enter bootloader without any SD Card or SIM left in the Athena.
Then, plug it to the USB port, and see if it goes from "serial" to "usb".
Then try to flash first the Black Dual PK ROM available on the forum (in the WM6 section), or an official ROM available from the Wiki, for instance.
hi
tried to flash it with both and came out with same error
260 connection cant find device
and i cant even see any changes in devicemanager but it dose goes serial to usb when i connect
and my pc is not detecting the device (just like that depressed robot from hich hikers guide to galaxy )

xp (pc i am trying to upgrade i also have vista on other pc which i havent tried yet should i try that ?)
nop no luck in vista ether same error still no connection
both pc have netframework 2
activesync in xp and mobiledevice center in vista
but after connecting device nothing happens in device manager there is no new device
(could it be beacouse of faulty cable? )\\(noi have tryed 2 different cable )
is it worth getting cradle ??
No no. I think the problem comes from the flash utility that requires that the Athena be detected prior to flashing.
I know that with the Universal, some flashing utilities could force flashing when connecting the device already in bootloader mode...
So there must be an easy way to bypass the device detection and go on with the flash process. I'll try and find out, and maybe one of the gurus will cruise by and find it for ya in the meantime.
In the meantime, don't freak out and be patient. Your Athena's not bricked, probably the ROM that's screwed up. We only need to find a way to do that exclusively from the bootloader (chich I know is possible, that's the whole point of the bootloader ).

Hi
Try a hard reset ( Volume down+reset) and then get into the boot loader(Camera+reset~10seconds) then flash the PK dual rom. Don't panic, Your athena is hard spl patched therefore not bricked. If that not works down load the exact official rom for your device flash that then flash the PK dual rom. try Redownload the rom again.
Good luck

Reboot your PC, make sure you are not using a USB hub, try it with each USB port on the PC.

good idea but dident work after 4 on board ports and 2 hub ports no joy at all
by looks of it upgrade utility is trying to read info from my device and could be failing for 2 reasons
1 it is not detecting device
2 info in pda is corrupted and could not get any info from device
well thats my theory but not really sure any suggestions??
Is your PC running XP or Vista? I got the impression reading the post that XP machine works better in unlocking. I think the info was posted by Olipro himself if my memory is right.

if thats the the case i dont see any new devices in xp devicemanager
No no, it doesn't. Couldn't find it for Athena, but don't have much time lately, alas.
Maybe you should PM one of the gurus asking how to flash a ROM straight from bootloader without having the device detected by WinXP. I believe there's a small, easy manipulation to make, but can't remember it for the life of me. :-S

i found this in wiki and first three posts are empty but followed the procedure and downloaded all three roms and still no joy error
''Problems using the Athena Unlocker - the Black Screen of Death
Using The Athena Unlocker tool (developed by Olipro) is a 3-stage process. Most users get through the first stage but as they start stage 2, get a black screen where their device becomes unresponsive and so cannot proceed with the unlocking. See these posts
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=169 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=176 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=226
It is always recommended that you first take out your MiniSD card. You can then follow the instructions below.
* Get one of the ROMs in this link and extract it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314672
* Get your device into bootloader (the three-colour screen; You can get there by pressing the Camera key + Volume key + Soft Reset at the same time)
* Connect your device to your PC (even if the PC shows no sign of recognising it, it does) and the SERIAL shown on the screen of your device will change to USB)
* Hit the ROM Upgrade Utility and upgrade your device.
* Once the upgrade is completed, configure your device (Calibrate screen, set time zone, etc).
* Now continue with the Unlocker, to the end.
It is important to complete the unlocker to the end or else you will miss out on flashing your radio, with a common symptom of your gps not working.
Good Luck and enjoy your improved device!

now i am still stuck will it make any difference if i try it in different xp pc other then the one i started the process ?(and screwed it up)
Please ensure all software firewall or IP filtering apps are turned off then reboot the PC. After rebooting, confirm the apps are not running and blocking anything. If you are unsure, then try it from a freshly installed XP.
Put the device in Bootloader mode and try it again.

good idea
i have already tryed with firewalls and virus protection off but doing it in fresh xp might just work small question do i need to install active sync or is it not needed (any way ill try both first without and then with )
ill report back in about 3 hours (i know i am sad and havent got a life but its worth a try )
Yes, the wiki confirms what I thought but didn't voice out loud as yet (I was sure about it for the Universal, but not for the Athena): the upgrade utility doesn't *require* that it be Activesynced. That's, as I'd said, te whole point of the bootloader.
If you still have problems uploading the new ROM to your Athena after following the wiki thing, then it *does* mean that there is some external factor playing dirty, so the firewall to check (and some anti-virus software also scan network connections) indeed is a good idea.
Keep us posted, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I think I bricked my Omnia ):

Hey guys,
When I bought my Omnia 2 with WM 6.1 on it, it worked great but when I went and installed the stupid PC studio software that came with the phone I tryed to update and now my phone has either a thing saying
"DOWNLOAD MODE!
Do not turn off.
It takes about 10 minuites."
or it will have a symbol of a phone connecting to a "!" next to a computer symbol.
I can no longer use this phone if anyone can help me it would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.
hahaha to funny bricked means it no longer turns on meaning you don't even get the download mode. its just like a useless brick. But anyways to the problem at hand, there is only one way to brick the omnia and that is if you flash the eboot which you have not done since it still works and turns on.
Unplug from USB cable and turn it of and/or take out the battery. Put the battery back in and plug it into your PC and try to update it with PC studio and see if it works it should not have an issue. Repeat the steps if it fails but this time start PC studio first and then plug in the omnia and see if that works.
If all else fails you need to get OCTANS and download the official firmware for your region or a custom firmware if you want. I'm assuming you have a I8000 which OCTANS is used to flash don't know if that is the case with other omnia 2 as well. Visit this site and look for OCTANS and all the firmware you need. Since you are flashing anyways i would recommend you flash JD3 ROMS so you have the latest. Either go official ROM or go Lite i myself am using tw2 lite ROM.
I went to that site and nothing on there says anything about "OCTANS" so could you possibly give me a link of some sort to what I need.
I've tried running PC Studio on XP and Vista with no luck on getting the computer to even see the phone anymore so I've just about given up on the whole thing.

Here is the Octans Downloader's latest version. Just run it (If you are using Windows Vista or 7, set compatibility mode to Windows XP SP2), select the appropriate parts in various slots, click Detect Device and then turn off and plug your phone into usb cable. It will detect the phone, then just press Start and wait for the process to complete.
In addition to these steps, you might also need to update activesync drivers and install Samsung CDMA Modem drivers if you are using Windows 7 or Vista. For more details, see this thread :
http://www.modaco.com/content/b7610-omnia-pro-b7610-modaco-com/299070/tut-flashing-rom-using-octans/
I hope you get back your phone soon!
Good luck and Cheers!
same problem - cannot flash: the phone is stuck with an image of a mobile device, a pc, and a (!) sign in between.
unable to hard reset, unabe to flash - octan does not detect the phone...
any chance to save my phone?
1. get the ROMs from modaco site.
2. Start Octans and follow the ROM update guide in modao.
3. Click detect in Octans.
4. Power off phone (remove battery and insert back in ur case).
5. connect phone to PC/laptop (do not use any usb hub).
6. u shd see the download button becomes ungrey. click it to flash.
the download button remains grey......
what OS are u using?
If it's vista or win 7 and whether it is 32bit or 64bit.
The solutions are at modaco.
i read modaco.
the device is stuck: when i turn it on, the screen shows only one image:
an image of a mobiel device, a pc, and in between a (!) sign.
cannot hard reset device, cannot do anything.
am using vista, and followed all protocol from modaco (first time was able to flash - thats how the device got bricked).
octans (or the pc) does not detect the device when i connect it to the - that is the problem...
OK I now have installed the CDMA drivers and i'm running OCTANS in XP SP2 mode what OS should I download to use with the phone and how big will it be?
Thanks so much for the help guys.
And btw is there any versions that will keep the samsung virtual keypad and things like that (not the damn cube though)?
like i menchioned get a lite ROM I use tw2 ROM's Garys are good to. I like tw2 ROM because they are totally stipped ROMS except for samsung dialer and SMS and he gives cabs of all the apps so people can restore what they use. Garys is also very nice lite ROM with the basic apps that mainly everyone uses. Its your choice really what you want you can install the JD3 stock ROM as well, but why? when these lite ROM's giuve you more RAM.
As for drivers you may need to search on the site i don't have the links because there are new updated drivers for windows 7 which should work on vista too. When using octans make sure to hit detect and then plug in the phone (phone must be off) then click start. You only need to flash the PDA unless other parts messed up during the update, you won't know till you flash.
Driver installation:
1.) Turn off Phone
2.) Plug into PC
3.) Let it install the default drivers
4.) Go into device manager
5.) Go under the phone menu
6.) Update drivers and follow the steps and when asked which location point to the driver you just downloaded.
flash i8000
PROBLEM-HEPL pls..

[Q] USB device not recognised

When I plugin my Lumia 920 to a Win8 64bit PC I get an error 'USB device not recognised'. I've tried the following but with no luck:
- Changed the USB cable
- Tried a different USB port including one on the back
- Used a different PC (Win8 32bit & OSX on a MBP)
- Restarted the phone whilst connected
- Checked for Updates with the phone connected (both on phone and PC)
- Removed the 'Upperfilters' registry entry
- Installed the Windows Phone 8 app (both desktop and metro)
- Installed the Nokia PC Suite
- Reinstalled Windows
- Reset the phone (Factory restore)
The phone seems to charge ok via USB but never connects. It doesn't even appear in Device Manager so there's no drivers for me to remove and/or update. The EventLog says 'PnPDriverNotFound'. Anyone got an idea of what could be wrong?
@MrJamesMoore
Is your phone a true Lumia in the respect that it has a factory ROM and is not a developer model or other? Sounds to me like the PC is not able to identify the phone as a Lumia and does not know what it actually is and therefore does not know what driver to load for it.
Hmmm, this is interesting...
U might want to try installing Nokia Care Suit. After instllation complete go to the installation folder, and head to the Drivers directory. U have several drivers there, install everything, and then try to connect it.

Yes that's what I was thinking. It was a promotional phone so maybe it's not a factory ROM? Is there a way to check? I guess more importantly, is there a way to install a factory ROM on it? I'm located in Australia if that matters. Everything else about the phone works great but not being able to transfer my full res videos off it is a pain.
Thanks for the reply!

That didn't work either but thanks for the suggestion. Even with all the drivers installed the PC (and Care Suite) still can't see the phone; still get the USB not recognised error
Without being able to connect in anyway I guess it's impossible to flash the phone any put another ROM on?
Hmmpfff...
It is not a developer phone because they didn't have GSM radio in them, WiFi only. So that is out of the question.
I have one more suggestion, and if that fails, I would suggest u go to Nokia directly and ask what to do, maybe even a replacement.
So, try to find some1 with Win7 on his/her PC, and try to connect the phone. If that goes as it should,u can install win7 on ur PC and have a dual boot machine.
To check the info about ur phone u would have to connect it to Nokia Care Suit, however, that is not an option ATM.

Hard Reset won't work on LG P769BK

My LG L9 Optimus P769BK (T-Mobile) is stuck on Boot Logo. Hard reset or any other reset procedure in this world does not recover the phone to a normal state.
History:
-I rooted the phone a few months ago in order to get rid of some of the bloatware
-Ever since adware/malware keeps coming which made my wife's life miserable
- I unrooted it but that didn't change anything, the malware now resides within system apps so the misery continues
-The USB drivers are installed and the connection shows three entries in Device Manager
-LGE Mobile USB Modem
-LGE Mobile USB Serial Port
-LGE Mobile Composite USB Device
These are shown only when the phone is in download mode (VolUp + USB Cable In)
The only software that communicates with the phone and recognizes the USB port connected (Com41) is the LG Flash Tool V1.8.1.
Unfortunately this software processes the first 80% successfully until the reset stage after which the phone get stuck at the bootup logo (non-responsive) and never finishes the started flashing process.
I just want to re-flash it with stock ROM for which I downloaded v20h_00.kdz and converted the other required DLL, FLS and BIN files.
I know this is an older model but it was seldom used and I don't want to trash it. Thanks for any response in advance.
PC Desktop: Windows 7, x32, Clean Installation just for this purpose
Update: OMAP driver added
I noticed that I was missing OMAP drivers that are specific for the TI chip this model uses and I did install them. Now the phone has a new entry in Device Manager as Portable Devices where two drives/partitions are listed (F:\ and G:\) These are visible while the phone is stuck on the boot LG logo. The LG Flashing tool still can't continue after the reset at 80% so there is no really any progress yet. Any clue anyone?
Problem solved
I finally solved my problem with LG-P769
I don't know why I couldn't succeed earlier but it turned out using a laptop is a bad idea. I tried Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 10. The final solution worked on my desktop with clean Windows 7. The solution was using the trick with Small HTTP server. I don't know why it didn't work earlier but it seems another thread gave me a little bit more details that I missed at the beginning (maybe the server settings)
Anyway, it seems that this phone model was long time forgotten since there was not a single reply to my original post except my two updates so it turned out I was just talking to my self loud, LOL.
Anyway, I would like to thank this forum for most advanced postings regarding the Android branch of cell phones. Regards to whoever found this interesting enough to read.

Lumia 920 completely dead

So i got my friends old Lumia 920 with Windows 8/8.1 installed on it but obviously it's not really used anymore and a lot of apps are already unsupported now. So i thought i'd try and install Android over the Windows OS.
Using WPInternals i flashed the phone with a .ffu file (RM-820 - i think!) that was listed under my phones specifications, used the program to flash the phone but just before it completes i get an error message saying the boot-loader wasn't unlocked properly and now the phone won't switch on, hold a charge or do anything at all. I have tried all button combinations for a soft & hard reset but the phone doesn't respond at all. I managed to get the phone connected to my desktop temporarily in Mass-Storage mode, but then the connection disappears and i can't access it.
I've seen so many posts about this problem and being able to 'flash' it back to normal or repair the issue..
can anybody recommend or explain a technique that would work?
Many thanks!
Hi,
is there any sign of reaction in the device manager, e.g. a Qualcomm_USB device or a Qualcom_COMx port?
