Hey there.
I am using a custom rom (IMM76D UCLE2) and when I plug in my phone to back up to kies it doesnt find the phone. I have the USB drivers installed.
I noticed at the top its showing connected as a media device. I should be able to see it in my computer???
Any idea

Unplug the phone.
Reboot pc, start Kies
Put phone in download mode
Connect phone to pc
Also, try recovery mode

I just updated to JI6 and whenever I connect my USB to my phone nothing pops on the phone like it used to, to enable USB. Anyone know how to fix this?
I had the same problem. I just put it in usb debugging mode, connected it to the computer and hit mount. Then it should show up on the computer.

Me too, but for me the other method didnt work, I had to set usb mode to choose every time I connect. It works that way.

Mount Not Working.
I have my vibrant connected to my laptop and it won't allow me to mount the drives to my laptop. My baseband is t959uvjI2. Before I flashed the a customed rom it was working great. Now when my vibrant is connected to my laptop I get an error that my laptop does not recognize my mobile device or a usb port has malfunctioned. I have the samsung install on my laptop. I tried to methods mentioned in the above post but they don't seem to work. I tried flashing a custom rom through Clockwork but thats not working. After attempting to flash to a new rom I get an error something like " VibrantHybrid4.zip" can't be found" Need some help..
I was getting a phone + ! + computer on my phone after i stop odin. itried different combos and none of them work.
This is what work for me
I rebooted my computer and then i switch to a different usb port waited for computer to recognize the driver and open ODIN and flash stock 2.1
yes...it's like another version of download mode without having to go into download mode.
odin wont recognise the phone for me on this screen
it did pretty much straight away last time it happened but doesnt want to now
Make sure usb debugging is on and uhave the proper samsung drivers

cant do anything about debugging cos it wont turn on and i do
connects straight away in download mode, dont know why it wont now
yah wasnt thinking about typing in turn on usb debugging sorry..

Hey guys today i got the samsung galaxy s2 gt-i9100 and the phone works fine but theres something weird happening and is that everytime i plug the phone to the computer it charges but it doesnt let me use the phone like a usb drive i cant acces my phone and in the notification bar it doesnt show the option to mount to usb, and if i put the phone in download mode odin does not recognize the device and everytime i plug the phone its says one of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it.
Do you know what could it be? is this something than can be fix?
Before you can connect the phone via odin, you need to have the drivers installed. So first thing you need to do is have your computer detect the phone.
-See if the cable is working..if you have another cable, try your luck with that.
-clean the phone's USB port.
-try putting your phone into USB debuhging mode from the settings menu.
-Im assuming your still on stock. Dial *#7284# and on the USB option select PDA. This worked for me while I had trouble on stock.

You must install driver first.
Install kies then kill kies procces and open odin and thats it a dnt forget about to thick debug

First install drivers.
Check Usb debugging in dev options
Third try a different usb port.
Restart your computer.
Connect your phone on download mode when Odin is open.

install kies and the driver. If it still doesn't, do the usb trouble shoot a few times
Heres my issue, when I plug the usb cable in it doesnt connect to the PC. it tries to connect but then Windows say its disconnected. For kicks I went in to RSD and it connected and was able to flash back to stock, (I was on stock but just rooted). I am fully stock now and still have the same issue. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried multiple cables and 2 different PC's.

Does the usb menu come up on the phone? Select storage device.
Reinstall the drivers from Moto.
Google usbdeview.exe un install all moto drivers reboot computer. Plug phone in let computer reload all the drivers.

Hi, thanks for the info I tried uninstalling and when I plug the phone in it pops up USB Connection then goes away and PC say Device unplugged, but phone will charge. Wondering if the port is bad.
In the notifications at the top does it show the USB icon. Can you open it to see the options?

i too have similar problem the rsd flash process fails in remuneration with windows prompting usb malfunctioned
