Thin, low profile cases - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

What are some really thin cases out there? I just want moderate protection while maintaining the thin profile of the EVO. So far, I've read about the Barely There, Cruzerlite, Diztronic, Incipio and various other TPU type cases.
Are there any others?

Try the, Cimo Gloss Back Flexible TPU Case for HTC Evo 4G LTE (Sprint) - Black, on Amazon. It is only like $9. Really thin, cut outs for the usb, camera, is not perfect, but real sleek and thin. Another plus, for me anyways, is that the power button and volume rocker, are covered. Some cases have these cut out, another place dirt and dust can get it. Not perfect case, but for $9 can't really complain.
Just noticed on Amazon that they now have the, GreatShield Guardian S Series Slim Fit S-Line Design TPU Case for HTC EVO 4G LTE (Black)!! I had a similar case on my EVO 3D and it was amazing. Going to order me one right now lol

Hands down the best thin case money can buy is the Case Mate Barely There, I used on on my Evo3d and now my LTE, Covers it enough to not scratch it to hell, but still shows the beauty of the phone. Scour the net for a coupon to use on their site.
I have a diztronic as well, too large for me, and makes it hard to use the buttons in my opinion.

They sell these on eBay for $2.79 and free shipping. They are awesome. I bought every color!

I have always been a fan of Incipio Feather and Case Mate Barely there as well but I just tried the Amzer Shellster case and holster combo and I love it. The case itself is a lot like the Case Mate Barely There but the kick stand is easier to get to and the holster is awesome too.

I don't know how thin you want but i find the otterbox commuter case pretty thin compared to some out there and love the protection it gives a well.

How much bulk does the Commuter add compared to a TPU case?

I don't have a TPU case to compare it to but from the pictures, i wouldn't say much more. Maybe a mm or two at the most? It's a very clean and lightweight case. I feel much better having it on now compared to it being naked. Had a buddy pick it up and was shocked to feel how it felt lighter and thinner than his own iphone4s. But they should have them back in stock in the stores now...they were on back order for weeks for a while.

+1 for CaseMate. I have one from Sprint. It was pricey, but it really is thin and works great!

I love my cruzerlite - I don't think it adds much bulk at all and it provides some character to the phone as well, without just being all-black.

I have both the Diztronic and the cimo case and I can tell you the Diztronic is def a little thinner. It doesnt add much bulk at all and works well against scratches and such. I misplaced it when I switched to a Seidio hard case, but the Seidio case sucks so im going back to tpu. This time im going to try the Incipio case and see how I like it. I would like to try the CaseMate barely there case but the thought of having the top and bottom exposed scares the crap out of me. The corners arent really covered and thats where phones tend to take the most damage when dropped.

I've been using the snap case by spigen. Basically the same as the "barely there" cases in design.
I also have the blue rubber case that sprint sent out, and the androidified tpu cases that I've never used.. This case is smaller then those, Can hardly even tell theres a case on it looking at it head on.
http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/htc/htc-evo-4g-lte-snap-case-series.html

If Spigen came out with the Ultra Thin Air case for the LTEvo like they did for the One X, then I would jump on it in a minute. I want something like this that is very thin, ultra thin
Spigen HTC One X Ultra Thin Air

Case Mate For Evo 3d?

Just wanted to see if anyone has any of the Case Mate series cases for the Evo 3d? I was thinking about getting the Tough case, but from a video review on youtube, the case apparently has a random port on the bottom...

Maybe I will have to reconsider, I would still like to see some more people weigh in. I have the OB Defender right now, and its excellent protection wise just a bit bulky...
The convert from seidio/BB is pretty awesome two good cases plus a nice clip. This is until I can get the ballistic case

I have the Tough Case, just delivered today. It's similar in design to the Otterbox Commuter -- a thin silicone base layer covers the entire phone, while a hard plastic shell snaps around the back, sides and corners.
Pros: The fit is absolutely perfect. The silicone layer over the buttons is just the right thickness -- the power, volume and camera buttons are all covered, but their function is not impeded in the slightest. I was particularly delighted by how well the camera button works, no interference with function or sensitivity at all.
Around the front edge, the silicone layer rises a few millimeters above the screen, so you can comfortably place the phone face down without worrying about scratching the glass. Similarly, the camera lenses and flash are deeply recessed on the back, with perfectly sized openings around each (which, IMO, is how the lenses should've been on the phone itself). You can drag your phone across concrete with no worries, if that's the kind of thing you're into.
The hard plastic outer layer has a smooth matte coating that makes it feel more like silicone than hard plastic, giving it a very nice feel in the hand. It's also covered with a raised, textured pattern, making the phone very unlikely to slip out of your hand. By contrast, the Otterbox Commuter I briefly had on my Hero had a plastic outer shell that was slick and shiny, and the phone slipped out of my hand twice within the two days I left it on (which is why I used it only briefly).
Cons: My only real complaints are aesthetic. I really like the slim, refined look of this phone, and the grippy, textured, matte black surface of this case, while very protective and easy to hang on to, is a tad inelegant, giving the phone more of an industrial feel. It also adds a bit of bulk, which was immediately noticeable when I pocketed the phone with it on (although I will say it's positively svelte compared to some of the other cases I've seen pictured on this forum). The phone does also feel noticeably heavier with this case on.
In response to the OP, the case does have a couple of mysterious ports at the bottom. One lines up with the slot you use to pry the battery cover off, while a smaller one lines up with a tiny hole just to the left of the other (edit: duh! that's the mike, thanks minieod). I don't know why those are there, but they don't do any harm.
Overall, I'd say thumbs up. If you like the basic design of Otterbox cases but want something slimmer than the Defender and easier to hold than the Commuter, this is probably your best choice.
I have the casemate "barely there" case on my OG Evo. I have been using it since shortly after launch and it has been just the right amount of protection without adding a lot of bulk. I keep my phone in a pocket with nothing else so that case helps with day to day wear and more importantly it makes it so the camera glass doesn't touch the table when the phone is laying on its back.
I am thinking of picking up an Evo 3d for my girlfriend in order to replace her dying palm Pre but she is pretty rough on phones. She drops hers a lot and throws it in her purse with keys and change and stuff. The thought of getting her a "glass slab" style phone frightens me. I will probably pick up a barely-there case for the Evo 3d if I get it for her. It's weird that they don't list them on their site but that mobilecity site seems to have them in a few colors for $15. That's a good price IMO and my last one came with a free screen protector. Hopefully that will be enough to protect her phone.
I guess I can also cancel the insurance on my Evo and move it to her 3d if I get it since my account is due for upgrade and hers won't be for two years if i get her the 3d.

that "mysterious hole" on the left of the phone you'll want to remain uncovered --- unless you'd rather not talk to anyone ---- thats the microphone
other than that i totally agree with you on the case - i got it at the sprint store and i LOVE it
i had the TPU case from the user who posted on here earlier in june (forgot your username sorry!) and sold them on tpu-cases.com or something like that... it was 8 bucks shipped, and great quality for tpu
but i tried this on when i was waiting at the store picking up my moms evo3d for her bday gift.... and decided to get the case-mate tough, and give her my tpu one
the casemate tough is sleek....i dont agree with po96 on the "inelegant" , because its pretty similar to the style of the battery cover on the 3d....
i like it a lot, and it feels very solid and protected....
i used to use the otterbox commuter on my evo4g and loved it, but i really hated the new design for the 3d....

get the 3d on her plan...swap the 3d to your number, and your evo to hers....at that time you both have two new activated phones...both are now eligible for the TEP
also, now you will have a 3d

So sounds like you like it better than the Otterbox. I am currently using the Commuter and love the feel of it (didn't feel slippery to me, has a nice texture) but hate the gap at the top. I am getting a new silicone layer from Otterbox to see if that one fits better. I think I might order the Tough Case as well and compare the two. Overall would you say its thinner than the Commuter?
I wish I could find the Tough Case in stores to give it a test before purchasing. I hate having to buy online and pay return costs for shipping if I don't like it but I guess that's what I'll have to do.
*update* Just ordered a Tough Case. There is a 20% off code for their online store: CM06-SP20. The online store has free shipping to US addresses and didn't charge me tax, so $28 total for the tough case (originally $35). Not bad! If I don't like it I can just pay return shipping. I might just keep it for a backup.

Anyone know if either the tough case or the barely there case will fit into the belt holster for the Seido Surface case(aka the plaitunum case at Best Buy)?
I'm currently using a TPU case in the Platinum holster because I like the added camera area coverage of the TPU case. I just hate the camera button covering of the TPU case.
The Case Mate cases look great but I really need a belt clip with them.
the wifes casemate shipped yesterday and will be here this weekend ill toss up pics

Matty mo's review: Seidio active case (black)

So I wanted to start out this review by saying, that when I originally bought my Evo 3D, I had purchased an Otterbox case which they sell at Sprint for it as well. I am a bit neurotic when it comes to my phones and always have to have them protected. I had the Otterbox on till the day I received my Seidio Active case from the great people of Seidio to try out. To be honest, I was actually going to use the Seidio case for a week and then go back to the Otterbox, but actually I just got back from Sprint, I just returned the Otterbox.
I have to say that in my opinion this Seidio case has the Otterbox beat hands down. The grooves that the Active case has for your fingers and the material they use for the silicone underlay just feel better. I compared the Otterbox to the Active case and when it comes to size, the Otterbox in my views is bigger and bulkier, but it seems that the Seidio case more protection. The silicone on the Otterbox feels like its half the amount used on the Active case, it’s a flimsier feel then Seidio’s. Now you would think because the Seidio case is smaller, it would give you less protection, but I feel that my phone is much more protected.
Another benefit with the size of the Seidio Active case, is that it feels much better in the pocket, however with both phones there is a bit of resistance when taking it from the pocket due to the silicone, but it happens with all silicone based cases. The only real downside I have seen with the Active case when using it for the past couple of days is that the silicone attracts lent from your pocket, but can easily removed with a wipe of a cloth.
The main thing that I am happy about, and have read in other reviews of the case is the protection the case provides to the camera. I had recently bought a TPU case from online and returned it immediately after seeing that the case lined perfectly with the camera casing, leaving it open to scratches and marks.
Another big thing that is a benefit with this case, compared to the Otterbox, is that all the cut outs for the power button and charging ports line up perfectly. I noticed that on the headphone jack on my Otterbox it was cut out incorrectly leaving me to have to jam the headphone jack into place. Not with the Active case, everything lines up perfectly. The silicone is cut to an exact precision. I know that the ports don’t have a cover like the Otterbox, but I actually prefer this, its an easy access and most of the time, I am prepared for those covers to break off in time, giving the phone a cheap look.
I know that some are disappointed that the case doesn’t come with a built in screen protector like the Otterbox but not I. I love that it doesn’t, I feel that the built in protectors have a more rubbery feel to them then other protectors. I would personally recommend the Screen Guards from Seidio; they are smooth like glass and fit to a tee.
In an overall judgment I give the phone a 10/10. There is not one thing I would change about this case, I love it more then anything. It looks great and feels even better. I would highly recommend this case to anyone who is in the market for a new case. Not only are you buying a great case, you are buying it from a great company that is willing to go that extra mile and help you out when it is needed, whether it is a return or replacement, and this type of customer service just gives me that little extra push to buy Seidio then any other company.
Looks just like the Innocase Rugged( minus the inner 2-piece hard shell) that I used on my Evo 4G before going to the Ballistic HC. How much is this case and who all sells it? Hope to be getting my 3D in the next couple weeks and may just get this case to go on it. My Innocase Rugged held up great, just replaced it with the Ballistic HC based on looks....
Still torn though honestly, I like the fact that the Otterbox covers the camera area better

Looks nice man love the otter box defender keeps the ports covered . I was thinking about the convert combo looks cool tho heard bad things about the rebrand from breast buy folks said it was cheap feel and broke at times for folks camera flap was kinda gay folks were sayin it had a bad feel .
If u test the convert combo out let me know to me the otter box defender looks way and feels better then what breast buy has out sexy and smooth.
When trident and ballistic come out with the kraken and aegis from trident will be sweet and the tank from ballistic will be sweet .
Yeah, i like the port covers but on the otterbox case i had for less then a week, the port covers already started to rip before returning it which is a downside... thats why i like having no port covers, its in preparation of when it does fall off!
and just so you know, this is the Active Case, made by Seidio.
Agree 100% with OP. Returned Otterbox Defender (too bulky, hard to type) returned Otterbox Commuter (felt thin, cheap, low quality, rubber not tight)
Bought Seido rebranded as Platinum from Bestbuy same as OP (except mine is black rubber with white back.) Rubber is almost TWICE as thick as Otterbox, way tighter on phone and just feels much much better. Better grip, better weight (and +1 on appearance)
it was $37.88 at bestbuy, same price as my Otterbox commuter refund.
Totally satisfied, would recommend 100%, would buy this PT/Seido again tomorrow if I had to.
Edit...and no power slot cover which is a +1 since it eliminates the extra step pain in the a.. and seemed unnecessary anyway. Can of aerosol air blast removes and dust or lint from that port in 2 seconds
...nice upgrade from hero
I'm a Seidio fan.
The only problem I ever saw personally with the active case was the corner pieces breaking easily. I had a couple of them and experienced the same problem. Otherwise...nice case.

What case would you recommend for protection?

I just recently got my 3vo and i need a case for it, never been a big fan of the otterboxes (just seem too bulky). I need a case that looks good and gives some protection.. i have a 2 year old that loves to play with my phone.. But im not sure what to get.. I dont work in construction or take my phone on any extreme sports, but i do forget my phone on my lap in the car all the time and go to get out and boom it hits the ground.. so i do need some protection..
So far this is the one im likeing
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/csk3hev3d-wh.htm
If you have a Best Buy near you, you can go there an try on some cases. They carry the one you posted too.
I had that case for my Evo 4G and I liked it a lot. Very nice case. The ones at Best Buy are named Pt, but they are made ny Seidio for Best Buy. Same exact case, just a different name stamped on it.

The casemate tough case is pretty nice. It's not super big like the defender but its not slim either. But it looks nice, fits great and protects well. I got mine off ebay for about 22 bucks new. Well worth it. I also have the seidio active but prefer the tough case and haven't taken it off for the last 2 weeks or so except to clean it.

I'm still waiting for the Ballistic Case for the Evo 3D to make its appearance on their website; waiting on the HC version.
The CaseMate's look pretty good as well. I've seen good reviews for the Tough Case that they make.
However, SLM is correct. Go try out the Platinum cases at Best Buy before you take the plunge with the Seidio case. It costs $34.99 at Best Buy for the same Seidio one you're interested in.
I'll tell you from experience that I have the Platinum case (a.k.a. a rebranded version of the Seido Active case), and it's pretty sweet! Rumor has it that Best Buy will also be getting the Seidio 1900 mAh batteries as well, but they'll too be rebranded as Platinum. The case I got is excellent and slimmer than the Otterbox cases. It comes in two pieces. You have a silicone sleeve with a felt-like interior that wraps around the phone, and then you have a strong plastic skeleton that wraps around the sleeve. Although the case is great, there are a few things that I don't like about it. For one, if you keep your phone in your pocket like me, you'll start to notice pocket lint collect around the edges of the case. Also, it's sometimes hard to press buttons around the edges of the phone. For example, I use Swype, and when I have to manually type in a word instead of swiping, it can be difficult pressing letters such as P or A. I'll accidentally hit the O or S keys. But it does offer damn good protection. I've gotten so accustomed to the case that it's just weird to hold the phone without it. The case also protects the dual cameras in the back. I have no clue why HTC decided to have the cameras stick out, but this case offers protection for them. As far as my pocket lint issue goes, I think I might invest in a holster for the phone. I'm not sure if Best Buy sells the Platinum branded holster that is compatible with the Active case, but I'll look sometime this week and let you know. I use my phone as my primary music player, whether it's mp3s stored on the phone, FM radio, or Internet radio, and I think that having it on my hip instead of my pocket will be a little bit more convenient for me.
As far as cases go, I've only seen the Platinum case with the black skeleton being sold at Best Buy. Seido sells their Active case with different colored skeletons, but the sleeve still remains black. I'm kinda disappointed Best Buy didn't sell the burgundy skeleton. I think it would've looked nice on this phone (I'm a fan of dark red colors.). If you want something more rugged, Seido sells on their website the Surface case (a hard two piece plastic shell available with or without a kickstand) and the Convert case. If you plan on drunkenly abusing your phone or chunking your phone at the wall after a pissed off conversation, I recommend the Convert case. It's like a combination of the Active and Surface cases. The inner layer is the Surface case, and then it's wrapped with a silicone sleeve and skeleton like the Active case. It also has a detachable cover for the rear cameras. To top it all off, the Convert case comes with a precision-cut screen guard. I don't really need all that thickness and protection, but I would put money down that the Convert case holds up to its name. If you plan on getting an extended battery though, make sure you get an extended case since the regular cases won't fit with the extended battery door.
Anyway, I hope this helps. Good luck shopping for the right case!
I bought a silicon case with the wave. Protects camera, wich had to be protected since it sticks out. Also protects the other buttons and seems to fit well...
Its only 1,50 dollar so thats not a bad deal.
The TPU case is really awesome. It's on ebay and really cheap! Just search ebay for "evo 3d tpu case"
Only one downside, almost every 3vo owner has it
Red Body Glove case
I have the Body Glove case in red, and I like it a lot. It is a nice looking case.
I have no issues with mine unlike some others, but check out the pictures here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1141005
The available colors are Red, Blue, Gray, Silver, and maybe White too.
Thank for the info guys im going to head to beat buy today and check it out..

Sounds good, let us know what you decide. Bhambalek said they only have the black skeleton shell at his Best Buy. My local Best Buy only had them in white. Maybe yours will have both so you'll have options. Good luck!

Just unpacked and put on my Seidio Active with holster, got the saphire blue from Versio Mobile on Amazon, 34.49 shipped.
Very nice case, fits very snug, like the inner skin and outer skeleton, holster is very solid. Only complaint, that the camera glass is not protected; probably order a carbon skin so I can throw some protection on that glass. Had a TPU on her since day one and glad I upgraded to this one.

I also like and recommend the TPU Skin Cover Phone Case for HTC Evo 3D http://www.amazon.com/TPU-Cases-Flexible-Sprint-Retail-Packaging/dp/B0053NWDO0
I have the Sedio Surface case and am happy with it. Decent protection and it has a kickstand also.
I posted a review on sprintusers, but dont know the policy here about linking to other forums.
i picked up the PT Cruiser case yesterday, i was able to get the black and white one that i liked.. Now i first off the bat i really like the look and feel of the case, but i dont like how the phone fits in the rubber sleeve, its not a real snug fit. So i can see pocket lint and other things easily able to get inbetween the phone and the rubber side, but other then that i like it so far.. Its still a lil early to make a final decision on the case..
But again thanks for everyones responces, i have to say this site really does rock!!
one word: otterbox defender. Ok so that was 2 words.
I have four requirements:
(1) Decent protection all around except for screen.
(2) Protection for the camera.
(3) Must lie flat and not wobble when typing w/phone on table.
(4) Must not make the phone significantly fatter (otterbox is OUT).
Anyone have any suggestions? I actually like the gel case from Sprint but it doesn't protect the camera.
Mike
i like seidio case the best
i've tried all sorts of cases and I keep coming back to my casemate tough case, can't go wrong with that one. It's not that bulky and offers just the right amount of protection without having your phone inside a vault like the defender.
Seidio Active or Platinum Cruiser. I had the Seidio on my Evo 4G for a year. Get the holster from Seidio to prevent the lint issue and clip it inside of your pocket. Something that nobody mentioned is that the rubber bezel allows you to set the phone face down without the screen contacting. That also makes it slip resistant and prevents an unattended ringing phone from vibrating off of the desk. Not too much bulk either.

Incipio NGP Case

I just wanted to share a great case with everyone. I had one for my 3D and loved it. They put me on a mailing list to be notified when they made one for the EVO 4G LTE and I finally got the email Wednesday. This morning I got the case and I love it! It covers buttons, has a great finish and feel, and is comparable (but slightly sturdier) that the TPU cases.

How would you say the texture is on it? I have small hands so a little bit of grit helps me hold onto the thing, but I don't like the super sticky feel that makes it impossible to get out of your pocket
I have a barely there feather one for my ns4g and like it but this looks much better with corner protection.
Hopefully they make a white one for us too.

So is this like a TPU case or is it between a TPU and hard plastic? It looks interesting but I wonder how much protection it really gives.

I think it would be perfect, it is not stickey/rubbery but it gives just a little added grip. It adds just enough bulk to feel solid without any real added weight. It slides in and out of pockets easily as it doesn't 't have many openings to catch on anything.

It's more like a stiffer TPU case. It's not as flimsly/rubbery as the TPU case, but basically the same form factor, weight, etc. with a little more sturdy feel. It's not going to give much more protection than a TPU case, but it will give a little more because it is more rigid. I think one of the main advantage over the Diztronic TPU cases is that it covers all the buttons and eliminates those flexible areas that make it hard to hit the buttons.
I have dropped my 3D in the 3D version of the case from 3 to 4 feet onto concrete numerous times and there were no scratches or visible damage to the phone. It also provides that slight lip around the screen so it doesn't touch if laid flat.
Have you noticed any issues with pressing the buttons? That seems like the main criticism about this case. I'm really liking this one, TPU seems too flimsy and I rarely ever drop my phone (I dropped my Epic maybe 3 times) so I don't need something bulky.
I dented my Evo today so I'm on the hunt lol.

In terms of thickness and adding bulk, how does it compare to the Diztronic TPU cases?

I went back and forth for about 20 minutes between the black and translucent mercury, but ended up buying black. Something tells me if I like it I will end up with the other at some point haha. I love the Diztronic cases but like the buttons covered, so this sounds perfect. Will be a good change of pace from the Otterbox Commuter from time to time.
What color did you get? Any pictures of your own?

It was different coming from the open TPU so it took a little getting used to, but I like it much better. It's not hard once you use it for a day or so.
Just ordered the translucent mercury version. Coming from the the blue silicone case that Sprint sent out to the preorderee's. Getting a little tired of how much it sticks to the inside of my pocket, so hopefully this will be an improvement in that regard. Will let you guys know how it is once I receive it!
By the way, entering the promo code SUM2012 at checkout will save you $4.00 on the case. It's good until the 20th of August. Just sharing!
Also love this case had it with my epic touch and iPhone just ordered it for my new evo !!
Is the material like the casemate barely there? Does the camera have a elevated lip to protect the camera ?

I just ordered one, but from what I've read it's similar to the diztronic tpu case but the material is a little thicker.
Mine shipped
Mine "partially shipped" this morning, I dunno what that means but okay. Maybe I'll get a the packaging but no case lol
is this case just a tpu material? Does the back protect the camera frame from getting scratched if put down on surface?
In case anyone cares they just released their Feather case. I literally just ordered the NGP yesterday and may order one of these as well. The blue looks nice as I've grown accustomed to the color of the Silicone Case Sprint sent to pre-orders.

If anyone has the Diztronic TPU case, I would say these are almost identical in size. I really couldnt see any difference. It feels the same in hand, but covers the buttons, and is much more rigid.

Ballistic SG Maxx Case Now Available

For anyone who was waiting, the Ballistic SG Maxx case for the Evo LTE is now available on their website.
http://www.goballisticcase.com/products/htc-evo-4g-lte-ballistic-sg-maxx-series-case
Don't hold your breath for a more rugged case for the Evo LTE from Ballistic. I emailed them and asked if they are planning on making an HC-series case for the Evo LTE, but they told me they have no plans to do so at this time.
I ordered mine today. I'll be interested to see how it compares to my Otterbox Defender...
Ordered mine too. I have the ballistic sg and am looking forward to better protection. Imo ballistic is better than otterbox

I feel the same way. I much prefer Ballistic cases.
Ballistic must be a significantly smaller company than Otterbox (they surely haven't been around as long) because they are usually a little behind the game when it comes to releasing their heavier-duty cases. Seidio and Otterbox generally have them available much sooner.
Whatever the reason, the Ballistic cases (in my opinion) are worth the wait.
Can't wait for the pics and reviews! I will wait until then to buy one. The HC was a beast on the OG EVO. BTW you can get one off eBay for half the price.

I tried both Ballistic SG and HC cases for Evo 3D and hated the break-away kickstand. The Evo LTE version of SG case has the same flimsy kickstand and blocks access to the sturdy built-in one.

Case arrived today...
Well, my Ballistics SG Maxx case for my Evo LTE arrived today. All in all, I like the case. The replaceable rigid screen protector is nice, but it is makes the screen SLIGHTLY less sensitive than the Otterbox Defender case. The difference is slight, but I notice it on my phone anyway. For those without the Otterbox case, it does de-sensitize the screen a bit, but NOT to the point that the screen is difficult to use.
As far as fit and feel, it feels sturdy enough for everyday use. The silicone is the softer type common to many phone cases. Compared to the silicone used on the Otterbox Defender case, it is not quite as rigid. It's squishier and slightly less-slick, but it is not cheap feeling, and it is pretty much only exposed on edges, corners, and front. It easily slides in and out of my pocket.
The case is thin and sleek. It actually feels slimmer than the Otterbox Defender case, but it isn't actually thinner. If anything, it is about 1/16" thicker.
The kickstand is not as sturdy as the one built into the phone (obviously). If you've had other Ballistic Evo cases with kickstands, it is the same break-away style used in the past. I, however, don't mind it, and I like the fact that there isn't a big open space on the back of the case to allow access to the factory kickstand.
One thing to note is that there are no mesh / fabric covers over the earpice or speaker. (The one showing in the pictures below is a piece of black microfiber cloth I slipped in there for extra protection from dust, etc.) The removeable screen protector has a ridge all the way around that locks into the front lips of the silicone cover, and that's what holds it in place. There are not covers over the camera or flash either (just like the Otterbox Defender case).
All in all, I like the case. It feels sturdy and sufficient for most users. It's not quite up to the Hardcore series case durability, but it feels pretty solid. Being a welder / metalworker, I'll still have to protect my phone from the inevitable metal dust and screen scratches plague my phones, but at least the screen cover is replaceable. Now if only Ballistic had the screen protectors available for purchase on their website...
If you do decide to buy this case from goballisticcase.com, try using the discount code "CONSTRUCTION" to get $10.00 off and free shiipping. As of the time of this writng, the discount code is still active.
Below are some (admittedly poor quality) pictures of my phone in the case. If you would like additional pictures, feel free to ask, and I'll oblige.

I've read this case is barely a step up from the regular SG case from them. Do you believe this to be true? Do you think this case is more beefier and more of a protector then the Otterbox defender?

I have the sg and the sg maxx. Although there are a lot of similarities the maxx case has the additional screen protector, reinforced corners (silicone feels thicker to me), belt clip attachment, as well as port covers. It's essentially the same thing but I've been rocking it all day and I love it. Not really too beefy at all, but then again I've got really big hands. It feels good in the hand and I certainly prefer ballistic over otterbox. Much more stylized and I barely notice my phone having a case on it. But that's just my opinion. Would I recommend it? Hell yeah I would. I've had otterbox before and can't say that I was impressed with the protection it provided. Dropped from about waist height and broke the screen. Literally thrown my phones around in ballistic cases and not a scratch or anything

Good stuff. Great review and insight. You can choose to have the screen protector on right? I have the Zagg HD on my phone right now with the Otterbox defender (built in protector removed) and don't plan on removing it. With the protector off does it still have a tight fit?
