Sprint LTE on Verizon or Others? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Shot in the dark here. I know i was able to modify my PRL on cdma so that my phone will work in areas with verizon coverage, but not sprint, i even get 3g. How does LTE work as far as directing to specific towers, and would it be POSSIBLE to configure anything in the evo LTE to get LTE coverage in areas such as chicago that have verizon LTE, but no Sprint LTE Coverage.

No because Sprint and Verizon run on two different LTE spectrums, Sprint uses 1900 Hz bands and Verizon uses 700 Hz bands

Hspa+ vs. LTE

I'm pretty confused. I'm wondering what's the difference between hspa+ and LTE? I know verizon currently has LTE and At&t has hspa+ but what is the difference between the 4g speeds , I mean 4g is supposed to be (100 mbps ) right? Also why does At&t call their 4g phones , "4g" when they are going to LTE for 4g speeds so doesn't that mean hspa+ phones are a ripoff, and you wasted you're money on a 4g paperweight?

hspa+ is fake 4g (though so is the current LTE, but hspa+ is just 3g hspa on steroids, not a new standard). On my HTC Thunderbolt with Verizon, I get anywhere from 16Mbps to 30Mbps, depending on where I am for LTE.
If you want to know more about LTE, I would suggest doing a search around one of the Verizon phone forums with LTE, such as the Thunderbolt, Charge or Bionic.
LTV vs HSPA+
I guess it depends on the flavor of each you are referring to, the backhaul the given provider attaches to their network, and the amount of spectrum they have. Comparing a given HSPA+ site to a LTE site and assuming same backhaul and same amount of spectrum, I think LTE pushes more bytes more quickly than the HSPA+ [21Mbps/14/7] that AT&T has deployed. However, T-Mobile is deploying a flavor of HSPA+ that is 42Mbps. Real world speeds of that network have been up around 30Mbps with the Rocket 3.0 which puts it on par with some of Verizon's LTE real world peak speeds. I don't know if AT&T has stated if they will go to that version of HSPA+ or not, and even if they do I am not sure they have enough spectrum to do that (without buying T-Mobile's). I would say LTE is better, and once AT&T, Verizon and Sprint roll out LTE Advanced with and VoLTE, that will be the best. As far as 4G, that organization that decides what is 4G (which by the way has changed it's mind at least once) says they want 100Mbps mobile and 1Gb fixed as the speed standard for 4G speeds. Of the HSPA+ phones I have played with in stores or owned by friends, I have not gotten one to break 11Mbps yet, and they generally seem to sit around 5.

3g or 4g on tmobile using motorola photon 4g

is it possible to get anything beyond edge speeds?

depends on your location.
T-mobile USA is moving 3G to 1900mhz band, which will allow the photon/iphone to get 3G.
Currently, most t-mobile USA towers have 3G on 1700mhz which the photon/iphone cannot handle.
When the 1900 towers for tmobile upgrade to 4g, will that allow the Photon to access 4g?

[Q] S4 Google Play Edition can roam on Verizon LTE?

Well, being a T-Mobile customer (and preferring to stay one) I was interested in the fact that the new S4 Google Play edition seems to support the Verizon 700mhz LTE frequencies but is sold as an AT&T and T-Mobile device only.
NETWORK
Unlocked GSM/UMTS/HSPA+/LTE
GSM/EDGE/GPRS (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
3G (850, 1900, 2100 MHz)
4G LTE (700, 850, AWS, 1900 MHz)
So does this purport that the device is able to roam on Verizion's 4G LTE data network when there is no AT&T or T-Mobile network present?
Interesting. I'll be doing some research.

It'd only be viable if there is a CDMA radio hidden somewhere in there as well. Otherwise you would have no voice service.

Verizon announced today that in 2014 there will be available LTE-only phones... phones sold with LTE and no CDMA radios as they have finished their LTE rollout nationwide. They also said they will flip on a switch to enable VoLTE ... Voice over LTE around the same time.
However, I really don't care about voice service, I just want Verizon LTE data roaming in all areas of the country where T-Mobile customers are seemingly in a blackhole datawise with 0G connections
Could you imagine the money to be made if a phone covered every network and frequency band? Somebody needs to do this lol

You cannot in anyway use Verizon 3g or 4g unless your devices imei is in their database regardless if it supports the frequencies . also there are sub divisions of the 700mhz band. Both att and Verizon have divisions in the 700mhz band
It does not support Verizon LTE. There are multiple blocks within the 700mhz spectrum, and they are NOT compatible. Verizon uses the 700mhz C-block, which is closer to 750mhz. It's actually 746-756 and 777-787.
AT&T uses the 700mhz B-block. This is 704-716, and 734-746. They are NOT compatible with each other. Phones have to be designed to either support B-block or C-block. There are no devices out currently that can support both as the carriers have a block between them. Qualcomm is lobbying congress to end that block, though this lobby may be pointless. Verizon is currently looking to sell their 700mhz block to AT&T. This would allow AT&T more room in the 700mhz band with the block removed, while Verizon would get more AWS spectrum support (dual down/uplingh for faster speeds). It would also allow Verizon to shed the provision that requires them to allow an unlocked device on their network (something that they hate).
Bottom line is that no, this phone is not compatible with Verizon LTE.

Verizon uses Band 13 and Band 4 for LTE while ATT uses Band 17 and Tmo uses Band 4 and Sprint uses Band 25 so All of the Carriers uses different bands. Eventually most of them will use Band 4 AWS.
The Nexus 4 can use LTE on hacked ROMs on Band 4 AWS

Tmobile 4g

I recently bought an unlocked Atrix 4g off ebay to use on my tmobile plan. Everything went smooth except that I'm having issues with slow internet. I've looked all over for a solution(youtube, google, xda forums, etc.) All I've been able to come up with was that until late 2012 this phone wasn't even able to connect to tmobile except on 2g, and a bunch of useless(to me) instructions on how to change my APN.
At this point the phone tells me I'm on 3g, and I consistently have 3-5 bars. My old sidekick had 4g in 90% of the area and 3g everywhere else, so I know for a fact that there is coverage. However when I do a speed test I get an average of 25-50Kbps download and upload, occasionally I get 170Kbps. I've called tmobile and verified that there is EDGE network support in my area(apparently also HSPDA but no HSPA+). I just installed GSM Singal Monitoring app from the play store which is also telling me I'm on EDGE network type.
I've tried every combination of APN settings I can find on the internet including cingular settings and have come up with nothing. This data transfer rates don't drop, and don't get better. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm sure it's not the phone, I can get 18Mbps at work on the wifi(running tests, downloads I've seen up to 4MB/s or 32Mbps). Also if there's anything I need to do on the phone to get internet speeds which requires root, I've already rooted the phone. The only thing I've installed since the root is CWM.
I have used both the Atrix 4G and Atrix HD on T-Mobile. The 4G does not have the radio frequencies needed for 4G / LTE data service from T-Mobile, but the HD does. In fact the HD is a perfect match for T-Mobile frequencies. You can check out the detailed specs for these phones on GSMARENA.

I also am on TMOUS, the best I've gotten is 5.3 Download 2.7upload on edge.
Im not sure why but I cannot use 3g.Not for a lack of trying though.(tried many apn settings, and even playing with the Dev radio settings)
I want to set the facts straight. The only T-Mobile frequencies that are compatible with the bands on our 'specific' devices are for 2G, Recently T-Mobile has refarmed their towers to support unlocked AT&T devices like ours, specifically they refarmed the towers in 'certain' areas to broadcast and receive 1900 mhz waves that our device's can use for 3G and so called "4G" If you only get 2G that's because there are no nearby towers functioning on the 1900 mhz frequencies.

I would like to add that I own an Atrix 4G on T-Mobile (in Chicago), and I get Edge, 3G AND HSPA+ signals. OP was correct in that the phone wasn't able to connect to the other bands except on 2G until about december 2012 (they expanded in order to entice iPhone users to switch providers).
But currently the MB860 (Atrix 4G) *does* work on HSPA+ (which is often called 4G, even though it is not true 4G LTE), which is still much faster than 3G.
post or send be a copy of your apn settings.I'm in Houston and they've reformed their towers here.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Mega I527m or m819n for T-mobile LTE

I am currently wondering which phone works best for T-mobile's LTE. The Rogers version of the mega has the 1700/2100 band in some websites specs but some say only 1900 so im not sure if that will get tmobile's hspa+ or lte. On the other hand the metropcs version i believe uses the same bands as tmobile now so idk. Which one will work best with t-mobile or are they both equally the same and will both work on tmobile's lte?
I own the MetroPCS galaxy mega. I'm a MetroPCS subscriber. T-Mobile bought MetroPCS and MetroPCS is using T-Mobile's 4G network. So, technically, I'm using a MetroPCS mega on T-Mobile.
That said, I live in NYC and I normally get between 25 and 30mbps download and around 15mbps upload. I've gotten as high 42mbps down and over 20mbps up.
I haven't experienced any dropped calls and I've only experience occasional drops from LTE to HSPA+ (and when on HSPA+ my data speeds are around 15mbps down and 2mbps up). I've never dropped below HSPA+ in NYC.

How about the At&t version? Will that connect with LTE with T-Mobile?

It will. That's the one I'm using. I can't fully explain it because I don't feel like it, but go with the Metro PCS one. It will be better on T-Mobile's network because Metro PCS uses T-Mobile's towers. There's a thread on here that explains it better. The AT&T on isn't bad, but the Metro one works better.
