[Q] Correct procedure of installing a secondary rom (dual booting)? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone
I want to start dual booting, I currently run stock 4.0.3 ICS samsung with siyah kernel 3.3.3d. Many roms out there include aroma installers and the like which includes kernels, I would like to know how to install such a rom (for example Resurrection remix) without bricking my phone or replacing my current kernel.
I did search through posts but couldn't find a comprehensive guide (dated) that explains the procedure thoroughly. I would highly appreciate if an expert of XDA can assist me, either with links or a basic guide.
Thanks in advance
Xaveos

Now to decide which custom rom to give a go.... hmmm
Salman v4, Cyanogen 9 stable, RR JB or RR 2.6.x?
I'm looking for a stable daily driver.

Try them all, its all part of the learning curve. Happy flashing.

[Q] Need information about installing the new ROM on Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100

Hi Guys,
I'm new to this Forum so please pardon if i'm not following any rules and mistakenly posted the thread in the wrong location.
I had installed Clockworkmod Recovery from "theandroidsoul"
Then I have Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100. Recently i have installed a custom ROM on it provided by JellyBam ROM 20121023 – i9100 (courtesy: igio90.)
It has upgraded my phone to:
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband: I9100DDLP8
Kernel Version:[email protected]
AOKP Version: JellyBam.AOKP.Build5
Build number: JellyBam AOKP 20121023
I have found it to be unstable as there were many functionality that have been lost including FM, 5.1 surround sound, MTP and mass storage connection, etc.
I would like to remove the ROM completely and install another of ROM
Please suggest me the following:
1. can i go back to ICS 4.0.1 by removing this rom and instaliling ICS from odin? what would be a recommended procedure for it?
2. Will i BRIK my phone in this process?
3. Can i install any other version of Jelly bean custom rom using ODIN, what would be a recommended procedure for it?
Guys i need your help ASAP as i cannot stay with this unstable ROM for long. any help is hugely appreciated.

from what i can see you need a stable custom ROM with nice Features, i recommend you Cyanogen Mod 10 Jelly Bean... i Have it on my XPERIA ARC S and it works perfectly with no detected bugs, only one thing that i dont care about is that no more HDMI setting... the prcedure is quit easy and if you got stuck you can go back and ask for help, i dont think you can brick your phone if you follow steps and make a minor mistake.. if you would like to try, i can help you in everything, and please hit "THANKS" if i helped

[Q] Question about Kernels and Roms

Hi! i have just bought a galaxy s3! Before i had a galaxy s scl and im familiarized with custom kernels and roms but with this phone i feel like newbie. I see there are a lot of custom kernels and i wanted to know if to put a new kernel is like before. Put the tar file in pda and flash with odin.
Another question is what differences are with stock kernels.
Also i would like to ask about roms, which is the best rom actually?
Thanks
Now most of the kernels can be flashed with cwm recovery. Just go through kernel instructions and how to flash on your phone.
There are lots of different kernels available. You can find the features and difference in their topic itself. Some are good for performance, some are for speed, some are battery life. You will have to find best kernel for youself. I am using syiah 1.8.
Best Rom discussions are prohibited here. You can try different rooms and see which one works for you. If you like vanilla android then try cm10.

Just Got Fascinate Looking To Put CWM and Custom ICS ROM...All Links Dead

Hey everyone. I just got a Samsung Fascinate and I want to put CWM on it with a stable ICS ROM (I don't think the Fascinate has fully functional JB). To make a long story short I have searched all over the development section and all noobie guides with links to download CWM, ODIN, etc. are all obsolete and dead. I am looking for how to get this done with valid links and steps. I want to:
-Install CWM
-Install proper radio
-Flash custom ROM (looking for most stable ICS ROM unless there is a stable daily driver JB ROM)
If anyone can please help me out with the steps and some valid links I'd greatly appreciate it. Also, any recommendations for daily driver ICS ROMs or JB ROMs if they exist. Thanks a ton guys.
Check this guide out all the links work http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070
Also the Job thing Hahaha all of our jb ROMs are stable. In fact we have stable 4.2.1 ROMs which what came out a month ago lol so yea I recommend to just get the latest version lol hellybelly is a VERY good ROM

just look in android development and original development sections of the s3, there you have plenty of choice, and by the way they are all brilliant. try them out and look for yourself, which one suits you best. if you want more performance you could also combine them with a custom kernel. Just read the description, FAQs etc in the rom/kernel threads before flashing anything.
I personaly am using temaseks unofficial rom (cm11 kitkat version) in combination with devil dualboot kernel and I'm very happy with it. But that's only one possiblity.
And now happy trying and flashing
This rom will get closed since its a "best rom" thread xD

Give a thank if i helped you.
Hi!
I like the NeatRom most, this is the best ROM for me, I had ever. The problem for me with CyanogenMod is the System loudness. It dont work with Navigon correctly.

wich ROM?

hello,
i searching for a stable Rom for a friend for the galaxy ace.... he is a absoute noob and his phone is very slow.... wich Rom should i use?
thanks for the answers!
@made-in-tirol, Ace GT-S5830i/C/M/39i known as Cooperve device, comes with the official version 2.3.6 (Gingerbread) which, can be rooted and be optimized into perfection without any serious custom mod installation for person who has no need of tinkering with his/her device constantly. ( flashing some custom kernel is needed to maintain full performance and battery optimization, if you have problems).
FYI there is no Rom, which labeled as "most stable". However from my experience I encountered fewer bugs; regular flow of updates when I used Touchwiz Resurrected V2. On the contrary though some people prefer CM7 ROMs over any other non cyanogen mod any day
