Restore Startup screen to I9300T - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have upgraded my phone to the unofficial jelly bean release which changed my startup screen to show GT-I9300 rather than GT-I9300T.
I have now downgraded back to the official Vodafone AU ICS 4.0.4 ICS firmware but the startup screen is still showing GT-I9300.
How do I flash the startup screen to show GT-I9300T on the very first screen that appears when you turn the device on?

Are you sure u have flashed the correct
Aus firmware? Do you still have root? Try a factory reset

Boot screen is part of the firmware. Params file if you want to search more.

I also have the i9300T and have flashed numerous custom and stock i9300 firmwares (cwm only). When the phone boots it still shows as i9300T before the boot animation kicks in, but in settings / about device it shows as an i9300.
Initially I found it odd because on my previous S2 model T it changed to i9100 when I flashed international firmware on it.
Maybe something has changed with JB firmware.

You have to factory reset from the phone but it will format the internal sdcard

I used ODIN 3.07 to Flash the firmware via the PDA field.
I always do a backup of my data to my External SD Card and then do a factory format via CWM and clear cache before installing firmware.
The firmware file i used is from samfirmware: I9300TDUALF2_VAUALF2_Australia_Vodafone_Android_4.0.4.zip.
Don't you get your root back when you flash original firmware to the phone?
I have a feeling because I used JB 4.1.1 International it changed the boot screen?
Is there a manual way to change it back using the params file?

No you dont get root you will have to root again. Go into settings backup and reset then do a factory reset. I think that will erase internal sdcard tho.

I've tried searching for the params file but dont seem to find much info on it. I've also watched if the file is flashed when using in odin but I cannot see it like I have in previously when flashing my SG1.
I have completed factory reset using the option under security and via CWM.
Can anyone please provide me with more information to point me in the right direction as I do want to restore it looking like factory?

Were you able to solve the problem? Was just wondering what you did for the boot-up to show I9300 instead of I9300T. I have flashed dozens of ROM, official and AOSP, but mine always showed I9300T. I have the I9300T and I want it to show I9300 instead. Your problem is what I want. LOL. How ironic.

Galaxy S3 / Bricked?

Hello,
2 months ago I rooted my S3,
with the CF-SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.2 & odin & stuff, It worked,
Today I wanted to unroot it, & I thought you could just Reset your phone and everyting would go back to factory settings, because I wanted some
original updates...
I found out if i did that it would still use SuperSU & be a Custom Firmware. So I removed the SuperSU app, Deleted CF-SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.2 or it was CWM-SuperSU-v0.89 from my SD.
I wanted to reset it again with the hard mode setting or something: Volume up + home + lock key
I mounted everything /sd card /system /cache etc. Why? I dont know..
Now my phone gets stuck at the screen when you turn on your phone: Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-I9300
Did I just brick my phone?
Greetings.
No you didnt. But your S3 has nothing to boot. So you should flash an original fw from sammmobile with odin.

We are not Samsung customer service and we do not guarantee it work. In this same general section there are two sticky threads that will guide you can download the stock rom and flash it using Odin, titled " [Stock Official Firmwares] I9300XXBLG8 (4.0.4) - United Kingdom" and "[Guide+ROMS]Odin Flash+Root Guide & Stock Firmwares".
You will lose all your data in the phone when you flash Odin. Also this forum section is for the international unlocked version, make sure you aren't using an American carrier locked version.
Also, question belongs in the Q&A section.

Unrooting, everything back to normal

Hi. I have rooted my S3, to see how it works with PS3 joystick (i am not too impressed)
I have rooted successfully via odin flash guide, but now i get strange problem.
Every now and then, when i want to turn on dispay, it works and show me that clock and then when i swipe to unluck, the phone doesnt respond.
When i power again, display dimms, and nothing happen. I cant unlock my phone, I need to hold power button to reboot, and than it is normal till i lock the screen and want to turn it on again.
My question is, how can i solve it, and if i can't, how can i get everything back to stock and normal?
Try turn off ripple effect in setting, see how it goes.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
First of all, try disabling lockscreen entirely.
Then try performing a full wipe. If nothing changes, flash stock firmware via Odin. If this haven't helped, root your phone, reset bootloader flashing counter via TriangleAway, then flash full stock firmware and make a warranty claim.

As i thought, now, without changing anything, the problem goes away. But i think it will came back
I forgot one big thing!
!!!! When i first flashed PDA, i flashed it with something CF, not insecure kernel (MY FAULT). Then i got this problem but i can say that i couldnt use my phone. Only just after reboot. Then i flashed insecure kernel, al now problem is still here but it is not so often, but i must fix this.
So maybe the problem is because i flashed wrong file, so "bad" files are still here?
Is there an easy fix for this?

[Q] rooted S3 can't update official JB

I rooted my Galaxy S3 the other day with the intention of installing one of the JB rom's out there. I thought as my S3 was not locked that the official JB update would be a little way off yet. Yesterday I find the official JB being pushed to my phone. It went through the update process and then said it could not update because my phone had been modified. I checked the rom version and it is now 4.1.1 so it seems to have actually updated everything apart from the interface which is still ICS.
Is there a way to get around this? If I do a factory reset will that wipe the root? Or can I do something to hide the root from the update?
All advice much appreciated.

Thanks for that. didn't realise the interfaces were the same. Was expecting a bit of a facelift but then I guess it's what's under the hood that counts.
It did say it couldn't update the software because the phone was modified so I am wondering what, if anything I am missing.
One thing I did notice pretty much straight away was the battery seems to be running down quicker. Could be my imagination of course but I will test it over the next few days to be certain.

Sorry this particular issue is pretty unknown and most likely an issue with your particular firmware or maybe of the app you used, if the copy/paste bug appears in other apps also, then it's definitely a firmware problem, I myself have used ics stock and didn't have the mentioned problem as so do several others, I recommend you download an official firmware of your region and carrier(if any) and flash it via Odin, you don't need to worry about warranty as flashing stock won't trigger the flash counter, i recommend you follow a guide if confused as there are several available, or try custom firmwares to your tastes.

Its upto you to decide, if you have warranty, installing the same firmware is recommended, because most probably the problem will be with your installation on the device, not on your regional version of the firmware, but if it happens again then it's a problem with the regional version. So if after flashing your regional version you have the problem repeating, installing an unbranded stock of other regions like UK or Australia or India will solve your problem.
Have you checked for eMMc superbrick bug for your phone, if you have an insane or unsafe chip, don't flash stock ICS 4.0.4 because it's stock kernel contains the code for eMMc Cap erase command which will brick your phone on any type of wipe, reset, erase command and after a flash you will usually have to perform a factory reset to avoid a boot loop. You will have to use a lower version like stock 4.0.3 or gingerbread. I repeat don't perform a factory reset until you check your phone for brick bug (there's an app available in play store).

[Q] Updating With Another Country's Firmware

Hello, please, is it possible to download another country's official firmware from Sammobile and install on my Galaxy SII? Will I also be able to get official updates (like jelly bean 4.1.2) and install them in my country whenever updates are available in that country since i'm using that country's firmware?
I am still stocked with Android 2.3.5 and I really need to upgrade it to Android 4.0.4.
If it is possible to do so, please recommend a country from sammobile.com that I should download and install the firmware (preferably android 4.0.4) to my Galaxy SII. Thanks a lot.

try Kies for an update. Almost all countries have been upgraded to 4.0.3. and please don't install 4.0.4 it has got a super brickbug.
First of all, I really appreciate your quick response and advice.
When I used to try and update via Kies it tells me I'm using the latest update + I live in Nigeria and the latest update for Galaxy SII in Nigeria on Sammobile is android 2.3.5.
I recently upgraded my phone to the unofficial Galaxy SII's jelly bean, after I noticed a few irritating bugs, I decided to switch back to my stock 2.3.5. But there is one problem though, the baseband version is still I9100XXLS6 (the unofficial jelly bean baseband version), therefore, my Kies application cannot recognise it, it always says " Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies" when I connect it to Kies. How can I change it back to the original baseband version to be able to use Kies?
There are pictures to confirm this. Thanks

Thanks

those few irritating bugs have been fixed by different developers, you can try a rom based on XXLSJ, which have these bugs fixed. Or you can even try Siyah Kernel v6 http://www.gokhanmoral.com/
How did you reverted back to Gingerbread. The correct is, Flash Official firmware download from www.sammobile.com with ODIN.
I reverted back to gingerbread using the backup I made previously before updating to the unofficial jelly bean. The backup still has the correct baseband, but I don't know why the unofficial jelly bean baseband version is still here. Do you think downloading and installing that from Sammobile will solve the baseband version issue? Thanks

yes, flashing with ODIN will fix it, but it will wipe your current OS. Or else just flash your pervious modem with ODIN or through CWM.
Ok. Is it advisable to download another country's firmware? For instance one of India's Android 4.0.3 since you said 4.0.4 has issues that might cause break. Thanks

to fix baseband issue, just flash the modem which you had previously.
yes you can install 4.0.3 from any country. Just change the CSC with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.manniakk.cscselector&hl=en
Alright, thanks for your help. I really appreciate.

Hi, I downloaded the official Android 2.3.5 (I9100XWKJ1_I9100OJVKJ1_I9100XXKI4_HOME.tar.md5 and SS_DL.dll) from Sammobile. It's quite different from the usual CODE, CSC and MODEM files from other firmwares. Please, how can i install this on my Galaxy SII using Odin? I've searched the web for that but all I saw was how to install the leaked version of Android 2.3.5.
NB: I downloaded that of Nigeria. Thanks

Sorry, I forgot to ask if I must be rooted before installing the official Android 2.3.5. Thanks

No, ODIN doesn't require your phone to rooted.

Thanks, but after successfully installing android 2.3.5, will I need to inter into recovery mode to delete all user data and wipe cache partition in wipe data/factory reset option and finally reboot it?

Mobile odin does the trick without much of a problem.
Thanks, but after successfully installing android 2.3.5, will I need to enter into recovery mode to delete all user data and wipe cache partition in wipe data/factory reset option and finally reboot it?

Yes. You will have to do a factory reset from the recovery, otherwise you will get stuck on the Samsung logo.
