Development help!!! - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am interested to find out what API calls the guys that write flashlight apps are using?
When trying to start the flash using Android documented API, I get only low intensity of light. Theirs is much stronger. I am sure they are using undocumented calls. The phone is Samsung Galaxy S2.
An example for a flashlight app is here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...uni.flashlight
Any help would be appreciated ! thanks

Why bother replying if you're not helping out...
This is a real issue and it happens to me too. I think it's related to setting your default TTS engine to Samsung's instead of the built-in Pico one. Check this thread for the confirmation.
I haven't tested this solution, but it would've been really cool to use Samsung TTS in Navigation as it's so much better.
I've had this annoying problem as well. It seems to be a problem with the Samsung tts. I had changed it to Pico tts and tested it last night while driving without any issues at all.

I've been having the exact same problem. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one. I'll give Pico a shot, thanks!

I'm glad I found this post I was going crazy I even did a master reset on the phone. well at least I know I'm not the only 1 and I know what's causing it now. All of us should go to the market and lookup google navigation and samsung t t s by the vlingo, and send them an email asking them to fix this issue!!! it is the only way they're gonna know about it is if we all ask . I prefer Samsung Tts .
Samsung TTS is in Korean only I think, that's why it says strange things... That's not source code !

[Q] A software to control incoming calls ringing preferences

Phone: Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0
Operating system: Android 2.2
Question:-
My mobile is always on silent.. Because of my professional requirements.
What I am looking is a software by which I can add specific numbers (my wife; my dad and my mon and my boss).. These four numbers I want to add to a list which will always ring even if my mobile is on silent mode.
My problem is simple; isn't? Kindly suggest me an application which helps me to do so.
Thank you very much,
Faisal.
SemiSilent
Selective Silence
Whichever works.
You can get a personal ring for one or more contacts with stock app.
Thank you Shashank.
Selective silence is simple; free and worked quite well.
Thanking you.
You're welcome.

Thanks for the info!
Please note that at this stage we don't officially support custom ROMs with Viber. Running Viber on a custom ROM results in various side effects (sometimes total lack of functionality), but we can't afford to support all custom ROMs out there. We are continuously working to adapt Viber to more and more ROMS, but meanwhile - you might want to contact the ROM developer for further support - they may be able to resolve this issue. In addition, it would be a good idea to test Viber on Stock ROM on that same phone, in order to see if that indeed is the source of the problem.
Aside from that, note that we are considering an option for adjusting Viber's volume in the future (at the moment it utilizes Android's main volume settings). If we have news about this, we'll let you know.

:good: the option would be really appreciated!
Sometimes i have to decrease normal call's volume and increase it to the max with viber.
Separate controls would be useful.
same problem on blackberry curve
Hi
I have the same problem with Viber on a Blackberry Curve
The volume on Viber is much lower that when using as a normal phone
I too would be interested in when viber is going to put in the ability to increase the volume
Thanks

I suggest 2 ideal:
+ Add Send voice message function to viber - by adding "Send voice message" button beside "Send Location" - I think this is really most interesting function.
+ Please increase volume in call, It is really too low. Or Please add In-Call Volume for easy controlling.
Hi @eyestorm -
Thank you for your feedback and ideas!
The first one you mentioned is already in the oven
The second one is something we're trying to look into and improve for next versions. We hope that with newer versions of Viber, you will find the volume increasing. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience.

I have the same problem too with a HTC One X on official stock and on Revolution HD
The volume is much too low, I made a uninstall as there is no way to use it.
Yesterday a friend of mine got a call on his Iphone 4 and the sound was great..
I think Viber does not focus on Android or Windows as the app on my laptop has also a low volume..
I again use Skype and whatsapp on my HTC.4
If Viber wil solve the problem I will be happy to install it again..
Cheers to all, Peter

I dont think I need to report that as my problem is the same with the others, low volume
That is true. However, details (and possibly even logs) from your specific phone and configuration might be unique in order for us to understand the problem.
We are of course investigating the problem at the moment regardless, but we always invite our users to report issues and give the details of their specific phones to our Support Team so we have as much information as possible that might speed up the fixing process.
Note that version 4.0 is just around the corner, so we would appreciate if you could let us know if the problem persists there.

At the moment I'm not running cyanogenmod so I can't look but I'm pretty sure somewhere in your settings is a function to increase or decrease vibration strenght.
If this won't help you can try flash dorimanx kernel and change vibration settings via stweaks.
If this won't help it'd be a hardware problem I think.

Thanks brother i will look into it and let u guys know. However even if there is a vibration intensity increaser in settings it hasn't helped me yet.. Thanks again for our reply..

That is something you will have to try learning how to do for yourself. Don't expect anyone to do it for you because that probably won't happen here.
This website functions by the user doing their own work for themselves. We answer questions here, but we do not spoonfeed answers to the user, we do not hold anyone's hand step by step and we do not do the work "for" you. Everything you need to know in order to modify the app in the way that you want, is made available here, it's your job to find it and do it.
