Any email app with autodetect date in message? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Is there any email app that can detect dates/times in messages and offer a link to set an appointment like the iphone email app does? Thanks.

Doesn't the standard Touch-wiz Email app do this? Running CM10 now so I can't check, but I am 99% certain it hyperlinked dates and words like "today", "tomorrow", etc.

Gmail: Sender's name not displayed, only email address

I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I'm using my X10's Gmail client for all my emails, but one problem which I have is that when I receive email, the name of the sender is not displayed, only the email address. This means having to memorise people's email addresses in order to determine who sent it exactly.
I know definitely that I have names in my address book, when I go to compose the name is there perfectly. But it doesn't show up on received mail. Any way to fix this? This is for ALL of my email, not just a few.
Thanks for any help.

Strange, works fine for me in that it does display the name and can't find any settings to change it so it doesn't.

Thanks for your attempt anyway. Its a really strange issue, I swear it used to work before.
I just noticed that I'm facing the same issue on my desktop Gmail too... Perhaps I've set something wrong with desktop Gmail?
EDIT: Actually I just realised: http://ask.metafilter.com/140633/Can-I-change-a-senders-display-name-in-Gmail
It looks like Gmail doesn't cross-reference back to contacts. That's terrible in my opinion, as I'm using my phone here in Japan, where everyone has incomprehensible emails, and they don't change their "From:" tag, making things a real pain.

New Gmail sometimes not loading?

Does anyone else see this? Gmail is sometimes reporting a new message but does not load it into the inbox.
Have you tried refreshing?

Yes, I do refresh, I see that there is a new message, but it is not in the inbox folder.

This happens to GMail quite a bit, in my experience.
Deleting the files in GMail (in Applications) fixes it temporarily.
I stopped using the native GMail client because of this, and now only use the Android APK (see attached).

Thanks. I pulled the Email client from CM6. Is this the same as you posted?

Don't know. I never tried CM6.
If it has the ability to assign a different color to each account, then it's probably pretty similar to the one I am using (which I believe I saved from a very early version of CM7).

I have one of the accounts set up as the default, if that's what you mean by "priority."
.
Thread moved to Q&A due to it being a question. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.
Failure to comply with forum rules will result in an infraction and/or ban depending on severity of rule break.
Priority Inbox is something you can enable in Gmail to be alerted when more important mail is sent to you. They take higher priority in the mailbox, as well as having a separate notification and label when it comes to the app.
If you are using it, and the problem still occurs, try pressing MENU > Labels > Inbox. You can see all your mail there.
I dunno, just a thought.

[Q] K-9 mail unread message count code example

Does anyone have a code example for getting the unread mail count from K-9 mail? (Either per-account, or an overall value?)
All I've been able to find is documentation on receiving new mail notifications.

@benjymous
Did you ever find any, I've been looking through the source code of K9 mail, and there seems to be no easy way to just get the unread count.

Actually, yes. Here's the code for a dashclock widget I made, that should provide a nice self contained example.
I haven't tried it in a year or so, so things might've changed again, but it should point you in the right direction, at least.

[Q] Choose custom mail app?

Very simple question. Seems like I can't find anyone else who has this question for some reason. I would think that several other people also wonder about this, unless I just simply missed something.
How do I choose a custom mail app for mail? When I choose a theme and click on the widget for email, it asks me to choose Email, Gmail, and Voicemail. However, I use CloudMagic for my email, so this doesn't work for me...
Does anyone have any clue how I can fix this?
There is no clue. Themer only supports gmail at the moment.

3rd Party Email account support is coming soon!
thx, i have seen all of this videos but there was no 3rd party mail described.
Now we have to wait :crying:
You say coming soon, but December of last year you said it would be coming in a few weeks http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2575602.
So is it actually coming soon this time?

Icon notifications for any app has just been released into the beta testing community, so it shouldn't be much longer for that to arrive. However this is different to displaying email counts in Zooper, which is a much more complicated process.

iPhone sms-friendly text app?

When an iPhone user "likes" a message in an sms or mms conversation, it shows up in the Android sms app as Liked "<text>." For example, if I text them "Your iPhone sucks and Android is way better," and they like it, I'll get a message that says Liked "Your iPhone sucks and Android is way better." Are there any Android sms apps that can recognize these replies and visualize them more like they were intended? For example, a thumbs up icon next to the original text?

Yes it does. But it also has the unfortunate flaw of being owned by Facebook.
