iPhone sms-friendly text app? - Google Pixel 2 XL Themes, Apps, and Mods

When an iPhone user "likes" a message in an sms or mms conversation, it shows up in the Android sms app as Liked "<text>." For example, if I text them "Your iPhone sucks and Android is way better," and they like it, I'll get a message that says Liked "Your iPhone sucks and Android is way better." Are there any Android sms apps that can recognize these replies and visualize them more like they were intended? For example, a thumbs up icon next to the original text?

Yes it does. But it also has the unfortunate flaw of being owned by Facebook.

[Q] GO Sms Pro and Messaging application issue

I just installed GO SMS Pro and it works great but the problem is that of multiple incoming text message notifications. The stock messaging application as well as GO SMS notify so I disable the notifications of stock application but on the lock screen it displays number of unread messages though the messages are read already. The stock messaging application doesn't recognize that the messages have been already read using the GO Sms Pro. How do i disable it? I mean the stock messaging application and its lock screen unread message count notification?
Go to the stock messaging app, settings and disable "automatically read messages" or something like that.

It is called auto-retrieve... seriously, did you take any time to really look at the options instead of forcing others to switch the language of their phone to English?

Probably only temporary... the only real fix would be to uninstall the stock app which will likely screw your MMS (in case you are using it). (There is some Go SMS beta for testing here @ XDA with more complete MMS functionality in case you are interested.)

As said in the quoted message. (And frankly not worth wasting the time, given how useless the lock screen is.)
Auto-retrieve is associated with MMS got nothing to do with the unread TEXT message notifications

Well, as said, it worked here, otherwise I would not mention it. Let us just abandon this topic since obviously there is no solution beyond the mentioned one which involves uninstalling the stock app. (Or installing a ROM with a useful lock screen.)
Install both handcent and go sms... only keep the notifications of go sms.. thts it u dont get any sms notifications on your lockscreen.!!
use only handcent sms instead of go sms pro. this solved my sms count problem on the lock screen

Text mms sms for flyer?

Are there any apps for text messages?
I use Sync SMS. It requires a (free) Dropbox account but it works well.
HTC Flyer / Tapatalk
Syncsms works well, in conjunction with dropbox. I don't yet see a way to send mms., which would be nice.
I use stock messaging and it works fine for sms and mms as well !

What stock messaging app would that be? I don't have one on mine.
I use TextPlus. You have to download it from Amazon Apps as it doesn't show up in the Market Place. I use the Wi-Fi only version of the Flyer....those with 3G get messaging I think. TextPlus is free and they supply you with a phone number.

I'm in US, so mine's a wi-fi only. I'd like to be able to send MMS, but get around it by using Syncsms for text and email for pictures.
hm.. that's why the application is missing from your device. can't help you....maybe a root access and some tweaks it will be possible, but, is hard to say that as long as have no idea if the hardware support this option

Serious, Text Plus. It's is what I am using. You can send pics. It is free. Amazon Apps. It is free.
Thanks guys these work great. I'm hoping to find a way to forward from my cell number. So far text plus works well. Still notifications are some what slow.
Google Voice works great on mine

Why wouldn't you just use GV?
Google voice works through email and can be repetitive especially if you have multiple devices.
Sent from my flyer.

Because I like sending MMS - like pictures and files through texting. Can't do that through GV. It is also available for my iTouch, so my texts are synced with all devices - Android or Apple.

[Q] Text Messaging on the Note

Coming from the IPhone, there was one application to send and receive text messages. At my last count, my phone came pre-installed with about three different programs to send/receive texts.
So my first question is what program are you all using for Text Messages and why do you like that program over any other?

What is that one called...again new to android
If the one you are talking about is called messages...then I can't see how to use the S-Pen
My favorite is GOSMS it feature rich and its free give it a look on the Market.
My guess is you will also get recommendations for Handcent which I have used in the past. I think you will find those are the top two.

Yeah, GoSMS and Handcent are the big two if you're not liking the stock messaging app. Both are nicer in appearance, have more features and have plenty of free or cheap themes available in the market.
I am using Att Messenging for voicemail, but it also notifies me when I have a text. Is there any way to use it for voicemail but not text? I dont want it (att app) to notify me when i gets a text. I want my messenging app to do that instead. (i hope that makes sense)
I am in the same boat as you. I love the note, but I am not as comfortable with the fragmented means of doing things such as texting...Too many overlapping ways to do something simple like texting or emails.
Hell, I am having some difficulty in getting calls...I am not sure if I have the ringer too low, or what, but I miss so many calls it isnt even funny. I always go back and look at ringer volume, but it always appears to be where I left it. But when I am at my desk, it rings through just fine. It must be a volume thing...
But, I am having a fun time learning...

I use Google Voice. Free unlimited texting. It doesn't do mms, yet. But I rarely used that anyways.
I no longer pay for texts.
ears ereatun
Does MMS still go through to your phone like it currently does? In other words, do all SMS go through Google, while MMS go through ATT?
If data is shut off mms does not go through. So yes, MMS goes thru ATT data even thou they say you are not charged data to send mms.

I wouldn't call it fragmented. There is more choices on the Android OS and that IMHO is a good thing. If you like the stock SMS app then don't install any other SMS apps. If you like GO SMS or Handcent be sure to turn off notifications on the stock SMS app so you don't get double notified.
I just don't think there is any fragmentation. The user can freely choose what works and doesn't on his or her phone.
I use the stock messaging app. I also use SMSNotifier from mapeapps.com. It does everything I need as far as repeat notifications and a few extras.
The problem is that you cannot turn off notifications in the "Att messages" app.

Yep. That's what I've done. I've frozen all sms apps except GoSMS Pro. No duplicate notifications and it all works as expected!!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
I also froze att messages. My handcent app just would not do the pop up on lock screen. After freezing the att messages, it works fine now. I did not have to do anything with the stock sms/mms app. I installed you mail and better you mail and now have visual voicemail. Works great.

You can install the AT&T Visual Voicemail apk from another thread in general, I think. Then you remove att messaging. Then you have to call att, and have them reset your data plan to one with visual voicemail (even if it was already done). Then you can connect the visual voicemail app.
Alternatively, you can just use youmail, Google Voice, or Phone Fusion for vvm.

Any email app with autodetect date in message?

Is there any email app that can detect dates/times in messages and offer a link to set an appointment like the iphone email app does? Thanks.

Doesn't the standard Touch-wiz Email app do this? Running CM10 now so I can't check, but I am 99% certain it hyperlinked dates and words like "today", "tomorrow", etc.

Hangouts or Samsung SMS app?

Which app is better for replying to SMS? i used to have LG G watch with hangouts but i assume that gear S works better with native Note 4 SMS app?

I like being able to edit my messages on the Gear S. Android Wear was a nightmare for me in that sense. Plus I can keep messages. On Android Wear they are dismissed upon reply.
A keyboard helps too.
So which app si better? Native SMS from Samsung or hangouts?
Does the Gear S even have a hangouts app?

It really depends on what you like. I only use Hangouts to talk to my friends who are on it, not for SMS.
The way Samsung's SMS app works with Samsung phones and devices is unique and has features you don't really notice until you try something else.

Not natively. Only iOS gets any official Google apps outside of Android, which is pretty lame.
What are the different features from each one? The major ones. On both of them you can answer with the keyboard?

Just try them both out and see for yourself. Some people prefer one and others prefer the other. But with the Gear S, only Samsung's SMS works fully.
