Stuck at the sony logo after flashing Ice cream Pureness build 11 - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

I have sony ericsson neo v on 4.0.4 build 4.1.b.0.431 with unlocked bootloader (by official method), rooted, and CWM installed by X-part. I believe the cause is that I did not format /system (in mounts and storage), format /cache, and format /Data.
I am unable to access CWM. Could anyone able to access CWM and then re-flash the Pureness by CWM, or I have to flash with FlashTool to install the original Stock ICS. Then start all over again??!!
I have not done any FlashTool before. Any guideline??
Many thanks!!!

Did you first install the kernel as advised?
If not, then flash the kernel through fastboot and then boot into CWM.
Sent from my Xperia Neo V using Tapatalk 2

I actually flash the follow the installation as follow but apparently omit step 4-6 below:
1.Factory reset in cwm
2.wipe cache partition
3.wipe dalvik cache
4.Format /system (in mounts and storage)
5.Format /cache
6.Format /Data
7.Install Xperia_Ice_Cream_Pureness_build_10.00.zip
8.Install patch for your phone model
9.Reboot now and you are done !
I did not 'first install the kernal as advised'??
Is this a fix, and could you tell me more how exactly fastboot and flash the kernal as you suggest??
Thanks!!!

Flash alliance kernel via fastboot...after that you'll be able to access cwm( To get into fastboot turn off your phone and plug in the usb while holding the menu key,led will turn blue... In the folder where fast boot is present in your pc hold shift key and press the right button & open cmd, then enter fastboot flash boot boot.img)"boot.img will be the name of the img file you're about to flash"
Or
You can enter into cwm by using the app called x parts, but you'll be unable to get into cwm by pressing the volume down key
Press thanks if I helped you

Few more queries to clarify:
1. '......In the folder where fast boot is present in your pc hold': pc stands for PC Companion??
2. Do I need to download boot.img?? If so, please forward me the link??
3. After flashing the boot.img, is it just lead to fixing the CWM??
4. After fixing the CWM, should I simply follow the steps again on flashing the Pureness ROM, or I must flash the 'alliance kernel' first??
5. Please forward me the link for 'alliance kernel'.
Many thanks!!!

As for your questions,
1. PC here means your computer.. And the folder means that folder where you have kept your fastboot files!
2 & 5. Here's the link of the alliance kernel that you need to flash..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566871
Copy this .img kernel into the fastboot folder, and rename it to boot.img
Holding the shift key, right click and you get an option to open the command window..
In fastboot mode, holding the menu key while inserting the usb cable.. Type the following in the cmd..
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Now turn your phone on.. Boot into CWM by pressing the volume down button.. Install the ROM from CWM!

Thanks again.
I understand all what you advise. Basically this is how bootloader was unlocked by official method, of course apart from flash the boot.img.
However if I able to save from stuck at SONY logo, is it true that my NEO V could boot as usual before??
Thanks!!!

You won't stuck at Sony logo anymore if you follow all the steps properly!

You are not connected in fastboot.
Turn off phone.
Press menu button on phone and connect usb.
Open command window and naviagate to where your fastboot file is.
Type fasboot devices
If it returns nothing your phone is not connected.
Like this CONNECTED DEVICES:
If it is connected it will return something like this
CONNECTED DEVICES: 65373FDHC67
Send me a screen shot of your PC after you have typed fastboot devices

Fastboot refers to unlocked bootloader as root.
Have you unlocked your bootloader?
You will know if you have done it! If you are unsure then you have not unlocked it, therefore, you cannot flash custom kernels so you need to either:
1. Use custom roms that are for LOCKED bootloader, or
2. Unlock your bootloader. To do this check the sticky threads in the DEV section

You cannot conect in fastboot with a locked bootloader.
Also, it seems daft that you are using 2 threads to discuss this problem.
My final bit of advice.
Download flashtool (its in the sticky threads in the dev section)
Download a stock .ftf (Found in the sticky threads in the dev section)
Flash the .ftf using flashtool when connected in flash mode (Not fastboot mode) You enter flashmode by pressing back button, not the enu button when connecting.
Once you have done that the phone should boot up with stock rom. Then you can use flashtool to install a recovery and install the pureness rom properly.

Download (Dont worry its for neo v, it doesnt matter, its just stockrom to get you going)
Place in firmware folder of flashtool.
Open flashtool
press flash icon
choose the file in the link
Turn off phone
Press back button and keep pressed then attach usb cable.
Flashtool will recognise your phone
let go of back button
wait untill flashtool finishes
disconnect and turn on phone.
First boot may take a while.
Goto settings and allow unknown sources and usb debugging.
Then use flash tool to root, install recovery and then you can install pureness via CMW making sure you follow every step in the guide, including all the wipes.

Bro, you saved my life. It did the trick, tomorrow will hit thanx for sure.
Questions:
1. How to verify i have unlocked bootloader?
2. Now having the stock ICS rom, what CWM to install so i can flash CM9?
Thanx
Just use the CWM kernel found in the Sola forum. That shouldn't be a problem as all you need is an ICS kernel (Not a GB).
You could have just flashed the CWM kernel if you had fastboot and mount SD in CWM
As for whether bootloader is unlocked, I recall if fastboot can see your device, it should be unlocked (fastboot device command or something)
glad it worked enjoy modding your phone :good:
To know if your bootloader is unlocked or not, you need to go to the folder where fastboot.exe is present and then Open Command Prompt in that folder and type the following command:
Code:
fastboot getvar secure
Turn off your phone and press and hold the Volume Down button when you are connecting the USB.
You can let go of the Volume Down button once the fastboot finds your device.

[Q] [Sola] installing custom rom

Hello, I've been trying to install custom rom on my xperia sola but I don't sure how and I don't wanna brick my phone, some people told me to try ROM Manager or X-Parts but in both app's it says that xperia sola is not supported.
Some told me to use flashtool and flash the boot.img but when I downloaded the pure blood rom(that's what I wanna use) there is only META-INF and system folders and no boot.img file, I've searched for some tutorials with good explanations for xperia sola but I haven't found any.
Can someone please give me a good tutorial or explain to me in detail how to install a custom rom? I have rooted and unlocked my bootloader, yet im not quite sure how to enter my recovery....
Thanks for the help!

first you will need to install CWM recovery so that you can flash the custom roms to your device......... once installed you will then have to put the zip file of pure blood rom to your SD card and then install via CWM..........

And is there any way to make sure my CWM is installed correctly like root cheker or something?

To reboot into CWM, turn off the phone. Then press the power button till phone starts booting > Then keep pressing (repeatedly) the Volume Down button till CWM loads

Did you unlock your bootloader? If your bootloader is locked the only thing is flash only ROM for locked bootloader.
For example - you install munjenis CWM, you download ROM for locked bootloader (no CyanogenMod), place ROM on your phone memory, switch off the phone, switch on the phone, on logo pressing many times vol +, enter CWM and choose Install zip.
Thats it.

I tryed to install both Pure blood and Ultimate sola roms, same problem with both.
I can't post links yet, write in youtube "How to Load a Custom ROM on an Android Device " and go to the third video(for me anyway) by MobileUnlimited, that's what I used, I backed up all the data, wiped out data/factory reset, then install zip from sdcard(which btw goes to my internal storage and not my sdcard), then reboot system now.
And I used the CWM you gave me in post #12.
Thanks.
Edit - well, I didn't notice that, but the CWM you gave me is by "munjeni", and in the pure blood post it says: "2. [Q] Xperia Sola, How to flash CM11 4.4 KitKat ROM to the device

Hi I am new here but due to I am not able to post my questions over the dev thread thus I had no choice but to ask anyone here
My Xperia Sola
- unlocked bootloader (actually is there anyway to verify whether is already unlocked)
- rooted
- with CWM Touch v5.5.0.4
But I am still unable to flash the ROM and I don't understand for some steps like
I did download the ROM (cm11.0_pepper-ota-eng.root_Build.1) from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2532230
1. extract boot.img from zip and flash them
- during extraction it will prompt some audio files and ask you wan to replace or not, what should I do?
- how to perform so called flash them? how to flash? from where?
2. reboot
3. boot into recovery
4. wipe data factory reset
5. format system partition
- unable to find this setting in CWM Touch v5.5.0.4
6. install zip
I tried just install from SD then choose flash the cm11.0_pepper-ota-eng.root_Build.1 but after rebooted, it is still the same Sola stock ROM
Anyone can assist on this? please T_T
is there anyone can help on this? ><

I have a feeling that you may able to flash boot.img using ADB with the proper commands. Flashtool is I guess used/created primarily Xperia Phones
Let me check if I can find it for you. But this will take a bit a while as I need to sort things here as preparation for our travel back to my country. I know you don't need to know about this but I hope you can wait

For flashtool, try to download from this link:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_d8uWGbkaetTDNyT1NjWXpPcVE/edit?pli=1
Just hit the download button in the middle. If that doesn't work let me know soon
how to use the flashtool, though I guess there are plenty of videos on youtube but you can check this link
http://xperiafirmware.com/8-firmware/21-sony-xperia-sola-mt27
And scroll down and look for # 4 or #5 about unlocking and relocking bootloader
If still confuse let me know soon
For boot.img using ADB still searching :fingers-crossed:

Nvm, it's ok
I am glad that you are willing to help me, I won't blame you
I think it's UNLOCKED, due to I follow the 4# - step c, then I saw RELOCK, thus I think now is UNLOCKED already
Am I right to say that?
OK, thanks. I did search for many ways to flash boot.img but all links invalid
Now left the flash boot.img part
I really unable to find a solution for this ><

Try to download the link below. This is the software that you need.
http://minimal-adb-and-fastboot.software.informer.com/
OR the one from XDA( which I think has a better elaboration on how to use the software)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42407269
once you install, next put the boot.img in a folder
Try this first:
- click the boot.img once, as it highlights, press and hold SHIFT key and press right click on the mouse look for command prompt(I assume you are using WIN)
- then as the command prompt shows type this command:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
(before you flash it the boot.img name can be replaced or changed. For example you want to name it solacm11_boot.img that will be fine or would be better so the command prompt will see which file you are requesting)
Then hit ENTER
If the command prompt says WAITING DEVICE turn off your SOLA (can't remember if you should or should not plug your device yet but try both which ever will work) and enter into fastboot mode (VOL up + Power button)
If that doesn't work try this second one:
- in the same folder of boot.img, right click in the empty space of the folder where there is no file
- now locate for command prompt, if theres' no command prompt right click in the empty space again while pressing and holding SHIFT key if you see the command prompt then try to ENTER command
Last if all things fail, locate the one you downloaded MINIMAL ADB & FASTBOOT it will also bring you into a command prompt style(which I think it is ) but in a special way
Here,
-Enter the command
-if you see WAITING DEVICE put your device into fastboot mode plug and that should do the rest
Good Luck :fingers-crossed:

Don't worry about bricking that would be unlikely to happen cause I have played with my SOLA so many times with good and bad attempts of installing the ROM, so now I am very confident with installing custom ROM for SOLA XD XD XD XD XD. I think the only way that you will brick it is by installing wrong ROM for your device or BAD ROM.
1. extract boot.img from zip and flash them
- during extraction it will prompt some audio files and ask you wan to replace or not, what should I do?
- how to perform so called flash them? how to flash? from where?
For this, only open in 7zip or WinRAR and extract (drag&drop) only boot.img, that's enough.
2. Download Flashtool here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
When you install it, in folder c:\Flashtool\Drivers\ are drivers for phones, run Flashtool-drivers.exe and choose your device + on the bottom are fastboot and Flashboot drivers, tick them also.
3. Switch your phone off, run flashtool, hold VOLUME UP and connect phone to PC, you might see something like this
28/037/2013 10:37:43 - INFO - <- This level is successfully initialized
28/037/2013 10:37:43 - INFO - Flashtool Version 0.9.11.0 built on 2013-06-04 22:50:00
28/037/2013 10:37:48 - INFO - Device disconnected
28/038/2013 10:38:05 - INFO - Device connected in fastboot mode
If your LED remain purple, you are ok, if not reboot your PC and try connect again.
If this is sorted, unplug your phone.
4. Then click on the FLASH in flashtool, and choose fastboot. Click on Select Kernel to flash, then navigate to the folder that you extracted the boot.img and hit it.
5. When done, take just about 2 seconds, unplug your phone and start, go to directly to cwm by keep pressing VOLUME DOWN.
Do factory/data reset, wipe cache, in advanced you'll find wipe dalvik and then go to mounts and storage, there is format system.
Flash the zip, flash gapps, after again wipe cache, dalvik and factory reset. Reboot and you are done.
backup rom
So if you want to make it easier to download my backup and do a restore from cwm ..
then after that do a wipe data / factory reset.

and tried restore from SD or advanced restore from SD also not working
is there anything wrong?

I was going to suggest to flash the doomkernel from the GPe thread, if you had unlocked the bootloader and backed up the TA

Yes the GPe kernel should boot the rom on a c6833. I'm not sure why the rom wont boot on the stock kernel.

I cant think of a way to get a non booted ZU into flashmode
I do have one thought on how to fix this - flash a system partition dump in fastboot, It will take me a little time to make this for you
Edit:
I have to charge the c6802 up as it is flat then flash a FTF and extract the files and test, all while the wife if using the PC (she has 5 days left untill she has finished a double degree, and a separate research project on the go - I may not get the PC for a few hours)
It looks like fastboot won't open a full 2.3 GB system dump, so there goes that idea
Do you have any warranty on the device? if so the steps below will void you warranty - if you haven't already. It will also wipe all data and the DRM keys
Have you flashed any kernel/boot.img? if so then do the last steps (5, 6 & 7) as well to get on a kernel compatible with the GPe ROM
You will need the fastboot drivers installed (should be installed with flashtool) and you will need adb/fastboot (should be in the flashtool folder)
Get your unlock code from Sony's dev site, you will need the IMEI # in the tag in the sim bay
Open a command line in the flashtool folder that has adb and fastboot .exe files
Enter this command:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock <unlock_code_from_sony>
Download either scrubber's kernel or DooMLoRD's GPe kernel
Flash boot.img with (if not called boot.img change command below to match):
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img

Thank you guys for your help and i am really sorry for flooding and spamming the entire zu thread.
This is my first time to root (sony way) and own a sony mobile, i was a samsung user before and ive never experienced this kind of horrible situation in flashing roms. I just bought my phone 7 months a go and i was so worried. If my Volume (-) rocker wasnt broken i wouldnt experience this nightmare, but i was hoping maybe someone knows how to turn the phone into flashmode without pressing the volume(-), unfortunately nobody knows.
I brought my mobile to sony service center and i hope they can fix it as i told them my software broke down and i need them to flash to stock firmware.
Edit:
i just saw my first post and it say fastboot mode! LOL sorry again.
i have no problem with the fastboot mode. I was stucked at FLASHMODE!
volume (-) is broken!

can't boot recovery, no purple light on boot

i have a sony xperia z2 d6503. i successfully flashed a 6.0.1 pre-rooted .575 firmwarea and forgot about the bootloop fix. then i realized it and successfully flashed it. the problem is after all that my phone is unable to get into the recovery mode because there is no purple light when i should press volup to start TWRP. Phone boots up system when i plug my charger in, and doesn't show the battery icon with procents instead. system works but i'd like to flash pexocam mod and i can't halp plz!!!

Hey, don't worry if you do these steps exactly then your phone can enter the recovery normally and you can flash any rom again and recover your phone from this brick
1- Download and install Minimal ADB and Fastboot from this link: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24521665358595410
2- Download and install Flashtool drivers from this link: http://doomlord.xperia-files.com/download.php?dlid=Rmxhc2h0b29sLWRyaXZlcnMtMS41LTIwMTQwMzE4
Skip Step 2 if you already installed Flashtool Drivers that install with Flashtool if you have installed it.
3- Download the latest twrp recovery from this link: https://dl.twrp.me/sirius/twrp-3.0.2-0-sirius.img.html
4- Move the twrp recovery that you have downloaded in step 3 to this Path C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
5- Download this kernel from this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bwn7bAJ-USZjZzg0Q2I2RWlWa1U/view?pref=2&pli=1
6- Extract it then you will find boot.img take this file and move it too to this Path C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
7- put your phone in fastboot mode by this way >> (Power off your phone completely then wait for 10 second then press and hold the volume up then connect your phone to the computer with usb cable while you are pressing and holding the volume up then the led will change it's color to blue.. that is the fastboot mode)
8- Now go to the Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder in that path (C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot) Press shift button from keyboard then press right click form mouse while pressing the shift button you will find an option [Open command window here] Press it.
9- In the command window write this command exactly: fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-sirius.img
10- Then write this command after it: fastboot flash boot boot.img
11- After it flashed successfully reboot your phone by writing this command: fastboot reboot then unplug the usb from the phone

i have a sony xperia z2 d6503. i successfully flashed a 6.0.1 pre-rooted .575 firmwarea and forgot about the bootloop fix. then i realized it and successfully flashed it. the problem is after all that my phone is unable to get into the recovery mode because there is no purple light when i should press volup to start TWRP.

12- when the phone reboot and the sony logo appears keep pressing the volume up and down until the twrp recovery opens
13- Done

Is that advanced kernel going to work with a locked bootloader? I don't mind unlocking my bootload since I've already backed up the TA partition, but it is a hassle I'd like to avoid if possible.
Yes he would work

sorry but
5- Download this kernel from this link:
6- Extract it then you will find boot.img take this file and move it too to this Path C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
no files there, said be missing ( so i got no boot.img )
i tried an old cwm6.0 ( named boot.img ) but cannot enter twrp, seems never been flashed in.
Besides, your flashtool versions 1.5(20140318) but i install the another ver.flashtool-0.9.22.3-windows.exe, is that a point? Drivers seems ok

I see. I have encountered this error with recovery when i tried to update busybox and it seems that root was partially broken so no writing permission to System partitions.
What i did to solve this is installing kingroot and it gave me a root authentication error so i pressed fix root and it re-rooted my phone and repaired root permissions.
then i did the steps described in the above link and it worked.
ok so i'll flash stock 5.0 then root it again?
