[q] magicsim elite - galaxy s3 dual sim adapter - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone had any experience of the MAGICSIM ELITE - GALAXY S3 DUAL SIM ADAPTER? I have tried it in my SGS3 and a) it's incredibly tight and b) it reports "no SIM".
It may be that I am being paranoid but I really don't want to force the micro-SIM and the adapter in too hard. Even when I think I have it in OK, it doesn't see the SIM cards.
Teach me....

Yep I've got one, works fine. Just pushed it in with my finger nail until the spring load clicked in place. If in doubt maybe just email Magic-sim?

I got mine a few days ago and the STK menu does not work. I am unable to switch between SIMs.
I have contacted Magic-SIM and am awaiting a solution.

it seems Magicsim ELITE doesn't exist ... check on magicsim.com there is no ELITE product ... I've ask them and they are not aware about "ELITE" ... so it's smell fake product their are more expensive and have the same software/hard as magicsim 28th PLUS as you can find on www.magicsim.com/site

It looks more like it was developed especially by them as I have both the older 28th version and the new elite one and they are definately different.

Nerdic421 all of your posts are advertising a company called eurodualsim which seem to sell fake Magicsim products..... Looks like youve been BUSTED! Lol
Nice try.

OK, I finally got it installed and fired up with the help of Danny at www.magic-sim.co.uk.
Pity that it really doesn't work at all well. The Dual Sim application is visible and flips between SIMs. However, it's REALLY REALLY slow to register the SIM at boot time and then at switchover time. It is also very unstable and will drop both SIMs out of service at times, which kinda makes the phone useless.
All in all £35 wasted, but "Caveat Emptor" I guess. I have given up with this.

I had a similar responsiveness issue with a dual sim adapter I got for my old S2 but it was because I was using a sim card that was about 3 years old and that was causing the issue. Once I replaced that it was fine, maybe this is the issue you're having. This ones working really well in my S3, takes about 20 seconds to switch sims and has been extremely stable so far.

The primary SIM is a micro SIM and is about 4 weeks old direct from T-Mobiles local store. The other one is an elderly FIDO SIM but that's not even getting looked at during the boot process.

I'd bet you my right arm that your outdated sim is what's causing you mischief. These things rely on the full circuit so even when you're just using the first sim the signal is running through the second sim. My issue was also because of an old sim in the sim 2 slot.
Change that sim and I bet it works as it should!

Just installed this myself and so far all is perfect. No problems switching :good:

Has anyone tried the Gmate+ btw?

Nope although i only want 1 sim active at a time so a dual sim adapter is very good for me, i am happy with the Magicsim Elite for now.

Brillo! Moved overto the S3 a week ago and my Magicsim ELITE is working nicely. I've got experience with these but I found installation easy.

There's like 3 magicsim websites out there. Which one is the legit one or the best one for us UK ppls?
Also, have any of you had a problem with the fit under the cover? seems to me like there might be a bit of a bulge. Any issue with cases?

I've had a few from www.magic-sim.com and always experienced a great service and product. They're also based in the UK so I've always had the item the next day. No bulge at all btw.

can someone confirm me, the magicsim is ok to buy or not. and is it effecting NFC usage?

Yep I've had a few items from them over the years

The ones for which the adapter is working, can you tell me what kind of subscriptions you have (3G, LTE)?
My issue is that I can go up to HPSA+ on my SIM 1 (the one fitting the original S3 SIM slot) while on the second SIM, I'm blocked at EDGE. I tested the second SIM on another phone and there it goes up to HSPA+.
Also, to get it to EDGE, I have, after switching to the SIM 2, activate GSM only networks on the settings so that it register itself to the network first and then activate data services. A complete mess...
Could it be that SIM 2 is too old for dual sim adapters? How can one tell this?
Thanks in advance

Hot swappable Ameo - an EASY mod!

For anyone who's interested in making the SIM on their x7500 hot-swappable - like the Kaiser -and perhaps hasn't been sure whether to try it or not, the fiddly little clip that goes over the SIM card and which cannot be opened without removing the battery CAN be taken off with a little careful persuation and agitation.
It has no effect on the sim (which is held in place perfectly well by friction) and makes me wonder why HTC put it there in the first place.
I have been using my handset with this mod for about a month now, swapping sims between my normal handset and the Ameo with no problems whatsoever. The clip can easily by reattached in the event of a sale or warranty repair.
Upon hot swapping you have to deactivate and reactivate the via the Comms manager et voila!
Pictures attached.

yep i been using it like this for about 3 months now as well
it works really well...
although the sim for me was a bit hard to get out each time so i took a knife and cut a little groove in the sim card so i could get my nail into it
thanks for your point!! good idea!

define what u mean by an 'extra sim card'. I have a specific number with an attached data tarif which I want to use with my n95 and also my ameo (when im not out and about) are you talking about a pay as you go sim card, a new tarif or some kind of 'spare' sim as I was not aware that I could get a clone sim card.

I think the marketing term is "Duo SIM". It's a clone of the original SIM. Some companies give one for free (IIRC Vodafone).
You can use only one at a time though (you have to switch the phone you don't use off).
i'm on t-mobile uk and they certainly don't offer this service. I'd be interested to know how i could clone my sim though, since my reasons are entirely legitimate. Does anyone know if this can be done or if it's allowed?!
there's a reason you can't just pull the simcard out; and it's because the radio *really* doesn't appreciate it and generally speaking, it shouldn't be done.
that said, there's all likelihood that it won't matter anyway.
do you feel lucky, punk?

That's strange. I'm on T-Mobile in the Netherlands and they do have this. It's sold in the T-Mobile shops or through customer service.

I would also be very interested in this in the UK, but I've never come across it.
If anyone knows any better, please let us know.
Alternatively, is it possible to 'clone' my sim? Or maybe ask for a replacement sim for my 'faulty' one, and then use both... not at the same time, obviously.

T-Mobile UK used to offer this service, back when it was One2One, but to Business Users only. The benefits were that people could have a SIM in their mobile and one in their car phone, however for two reasons it was stopped. Firstly the car handsets never really took off, and secondly and probably more obviously security reasons.
As far as I'm aware, the other UK networks are of the same standing.

Also, if you clone your card and the network detects two users, it will disable one of the sim cards. (In theory anyway - I don't know if people have created a "workaround")

Indeed, T-Mobile says you need to switch one phone off. Otherwise the first phone logged on will stay logged on. Which is unfortunate. You'd wish the phone you have with you to get the connection even if you forgot to switch the other one off.
I still have to go pick mine up, so I don't know exactly how it works. They did tell me that I will get 2 new SIMs. Not sure why, but that might be an indication that you cannot simply clone any SIM.
Duo SIM
Enquired with T-Mobile in the UK... They don't do the Duo SIM. Very annoying. I remeber that back in Holland every provider (used to) do them; car phone & mobile. My dad had one (eh... two?). Does anybody know if it's possible to clone a USIM?
I have an Ameo (Athena), an M3100 and a laptop with a UMTS card built in, so I could do with not having to swap SIMs every time... SIM is getting a bit worn...

Dual SIM Solution?

Hi,
does anybody out there have knowledge about a Dual (or Multi) SIM solution for the TP2? I would prefer a special battery like it is available for other HTC phones.
Br,

magicsim 23
do not put magicsim 23 a cut in HTC Touch Pro 2
it destroys your sim reader from the phone
Has anybody got a working dual sim card solution for this phone yet?
dual sim card
My dual sim card adapter with 2 cards worked on my UNIVERSAL but it doesn't work on TP2.
I managed to put the adapter in without damaging the contacts, but it then says "no sim".
Anybody found a working one ?
need one too!
I could really use a dual sim adaptor of some sort for my TP2, then I don't need to carry my personal handset around with my work one.
Has anyone managed to find one that doesn't screw the phone up?
At this point I would say the best solution is to get a google voice account and add that number to both phones. Have people from work call your google voice number.
Anybody ?
I couldnt find anything on Google

Anyone have any update on a working dual sim adapter for Touch pro 2?
Guys, anyone bought this? Let's hear impressions of it

They have dual sims holders, dual sim cards and multi-sim cards etc....... I had one of the older version dual sim card holders that requires cutting of the sims on my older 2G GSM phones and it worked.

Got my TP2 yesterday after having used a Touch Pro (1) for over a year.
My 16th gen card that worked in my TP didn't work in my TP2.
I have a couple of different dual sim cards at home (cut and no cut versions) 23th gen slipped in and after 1 hour of testing the switching works perfectly.
Now I did a search and saw the that someone distroyed his TP2??

Although it has - from a technical point of view - nothing to do with dual sim, http://tweedenummer.nl/ offers a service that does the same. And may be even more, with one (your current) sim. Two separate mobile numbers that can be reached and be called out via one sim. Your original mobile number next to the number that is created by this provider. It is amazing, it works and costs are acceptable. EUR 4.95 per month - if you subscribe for 2 years - isn't that costly, and for the first couple of months it is for free. And much to my surprise the initial subscription costs of EUR 10.00 were announced - after subscription - to be refunded (without this refund being announced in advance). Not sure whether it works with any GSM provider outside of the Netherlands. With KPN as (Dutch provider) it works flawlessly, within the minute after subscription.
Cheers, Dela

Except that makes it service-dependent. And most services don't WANT you to run dual-SIM, one device.
Also, we need confirmation on a BRAND (and a link to it) that actually works. So just telling us "16th gen" or "20th gen" doesn't help some of us who are unable to determine by those means.
A confirmed product and a link to a place to buy it -- that's what we need. Not failure stories, carrier options, or "not sure" posts.
No offense.
Confirmed: SIMORE platinum = OK
Since someone mentioned the MagicSim 32rd wrecked his phone I decided to venture down the safe route.
Very pricey solution but works without a problem.
The SIMORE platinum.
NOTE!! if you have already cut your simcard please be advised that the Simore expects the cut away corner on the other side of the sim
Just rotated my cards 180 degrees although cut the wrong way but this poses no problems.
Now I can leave my touch pro 1 at home!!!!!
Thanks for this report!
I think I´ll go for one also
How does this work?
If you have an incoming call it will only ring if that sim is currently active, right?
I travel over sea's and normally cary two phones. It would be great if I didn't have too, but switching sims back and forth sounds like a pain.

Dual sim adapter in a Samsung Galaxy-S ?

Hi Guys,
Has anyone got a Dual Sim adapter working for their Samsung Galaxy-S?

Simore Sucks
<RANT><VENT>
Bought the Platinum Plus. Had to look online to see how to cut the SIM cards properly. That is the most unnerving step. Checked to make sure both cuts SIMs worked by themselves by placing them in the included plastic jigs and they DID work. Then placed them on the INCREDIBLY FRAGILE dual SIM holder, installed it in the phone and it NEVER worked properly. Supposedly some software (SIM Toolkit) becomes active - didn't for like 4 days. THEN, out of the blue, I see T-Mobile SIM-1 in the Notification area. So now it's working? Able to launch SIM Toolkit and select to change to SIM#2 but phone never resets or reboots or whatever it supposed to do. Just sits there. If I manually reboot THEN SIM#2 shows up and works. Then, again - out of the blue, I start getting popup messages that "You've removed the SIM" or something like that. Attempt to contact Simore for tech support and they suck. You have to create an account on their website, find their support form, fill out the fields and submit. Then wait. Then you get back an automated eMail from an address that they do not monitor, telling you to log back into your account and find their answer, which is not easy to do.
"[email protected]
You have received an answer from Simore.
Connect to your account to read it.
Support Simore"
When you do, they simply go through all the standard fixes: reset SIM, restart phone blah blah. I am sure that they being Swiss and me being not Swiss that there is a language barrier but the fact that they make you jump through hoops and essentially ignore your messages and only send out cut-and-paste responses through their POS website makes they too hard to deal with for me.
Nice idea. Poor execution. EXTREMELY FRAGILE Piece of hardware. Crap customer service.
I've had more expensive lessons than that but if you want to take a $80 chance be my guest.
</VENT></RANT?
Thanks for that info, yea I've read loads of bad things about simore! Plus they're so expensive!
After doing a bit of research I've ordered a 26th gen magicsim cutting for just £14.99 off a guy on ebay. He seemed super helpful and answered questions like lightning (and also sent me some great instructions showing how to cut my sim) so fingers crossed!!
I'll post my results on here!
Wish me luck!
Sx
What is the advantage of this?
If you carry around 2 phones (like me) of have 2 sims (if you travel a lot or have a work sim in the daytime) then you can have both in your phone and switch between them without having to turn off your mobile.
Sx
I've had it running smoothly in my Samsung Galaxy-S for several days now!
Really, really pleased.
If anyone wants details on where i got it from just PM me. I did a fair bit of research to find the cheapest place!

how?
How does a dual sim work ?
I bought a Magic SIM 3G 26th generation. I haven't been able to make it work in my SGS.
When I try to call I get a "Data network not available" message. I have tried to deactivate 3g connection but calls doesn't work. The mobile is not receiving calls either. However, the SIM Toolkit program is in the SGS menu.
The dual sim is perfectly working in a Nokia 3220 classic. I read this dual sim adapter is compatible with SGS but it seems to me that I'm having a compatibility problem.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Plz Help, Att Htc One "NO SIM ERROR" Tape fix doesnt work!

Hello, im new here but I have seen over the years that this is the place to come to fix cell phone issues and the such. My issue is this, I have just received an ATT HTC ONE, I bought it off Ebay. The phone itself phisically is in mint condition, but the problem is whenever I put a sim card in it, it just wont read it. Im overseas, I have already bought the unlock code for the phone but I get no chance to enter it because the phone wont detect a sim no matter what I do. I have tries puting several different sim cards and no go, I even had a spare ATT sim card and no go. I have just tried the "tape fix" but the phone wont recognize my sim. Is there anything else that I can try or do? I have flashed phone software in the past (droid dna) so if thats what would take to fix this I would do it. Im overseas and returning this to ebay for a refund would not be an option for me. Any help would be greatly apreciated.
I had the same issue and it solved after they replaced the sim tray, but I bought the phone from ATT so I was under warranty.
You might try to get it repaired there, but they might charge you. Or try buying a replacement sim tray off ebay or amazon (I don't know if they sell it or not)

Sim cards can go bad as well. I would go to an AT&T store and they will replace your sim card for free.
Thanks, I did try several sim cards that I had lying around and none of them worked. I have just gotten of the phone with HTC tech support and they are sending me a replacemente sim tray, hope that fixes the problem. Will have to wait 4 looooong weeks without a phone tough...

You can buy a new simtray for $2.30
They sell lots of other parts for the HTC One as well.

You might want to flash the stock RUU, might have a bad radio flash or something odd.

Oh..ok.. well I dont think new sim tray would be the solution.
I have two HTC One. And I tried putting the sim tray of working HTC ONE into this one and nothing happened.. same issue.
I have couple queries though : Was ur phone's software modified in any way when u recieved it ? I mean was the phone unlocked, rooted etc ?
If yes, did u tried flashing a RUU on it and see if it solves the issue
So I finally found the solution to my problem.. apparently its something related to sim not aligning properly in the socket.
Tape-fix didnt worked for me too and nor did the RUU. Then I tried something different.. I had my iphone 5's nano sim and put it in a plastic nano-to-micro sim adapter and put that in.. it snug in very tight and hurray, the sim got detected. Got the unlock code and its working now !!!!
With this experiment I think I also found out whats ur issue might be too. We often cut the sim using the sim-cutters which are often not perfectly sized but works with most phones. I suggest either try using my method if u can or get a retail micro-sim from a service provider and try that.. it should work.

Agreed, but it does happen. The last batch of T-Mobile Nexus 4's my company purchased, 2 out of 16 had an issue where the SIM's weren't being read due to pin misalignment issues inside the slot. We were able to replace them.

My advice would be to not purchase it. Firstly, it creates a small bulge at the back which may crack the rear case in the long run. Secondly, for me, I could only switch from one sim to the other using their in built app only once. If I wanted to revert back to the other sim, I'd have to reboot. This reboot reason was the reason I returned the item. At first, I thought I had a faulty unit. But after ordering a replacement, the same issue forced me to refund the entire purchase.

Do let me know! I really wish it was just a case of me being extremely unlucky in that I received two faulty units.

Any one had any luck getting dual sim adapter to work on N3?
I would like to me as well
Sent from my Galaxy Note 3 using XDA developers app
Hey guys
I've had the adapter for a few days now, and it 'ssems' to work flawlessly. The changes are pretty quick, taking about 5-8 second from one sim to the other. My data sim, which is in the secondary position does take abnormally long to get a 3g/H+ signal, and will sometimes drop out. I do not believe it is the reception in my city.
Other than that it seems to perform as advertised.

Just to be clear, do you have to unlock your phone to use the dual sim adapter with different network sims?

Any of them on ebay will work, I have a iphone 5 version using it on my note 2, cost me USD 5, works without a problem, don't bother buying the magic sim, cost about 5 time the cost of the iphone version and does the same thing.

are you crazy paying £25 for magicsim. mine costed me a few quid and takes 3 sims and works fine been using it a while now. and no need for rebooting etc just works via the app. 3g data and text and calls work fine for all 3 sims. slight bulge nothing great and i am using it in my cheap s view imitation case with wireless charging insert.
havent had time to shoot a video. but might do if i get time. i bought my triple sim version after seeking kms108 advice on his dual sim phtos that i saw on the note2 thread
it does everything the magicsim does and much much cheaper and can take 3 sims unlike the magicsim that can only take 2sims!

So you finally got yours, better than spending time removing the cover, battery and the card whiles on the move, a few button press and it's done.

yes been busy so hadnt got back to you. saw your post here so thought might as well reply here.
Yes got triple sim model, infact bought two of them as from now on all my phones will have these triple sim inserts. works fine for my requirements, calls, text and data all work fine and paid 6$ including delivery but it came with iphone covers which i dont need. wish they sold them cheaper without the iphone cases.
I find it much better using the adapters as samsung scrimped on the eject mechanism for sim cards which older samsung phones had but note 3 doesnt have it. so its a pain swapping out microsims, better using triple sim adapter and no need to open the back any more. have wireless charging insert with NFC plus the triple sim in my cheap s view (generic case) so got full works with multisim for under 20$
here is my video review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwvKxjcS6EU long as usual
