SG2-NO other languages than English on keyboard - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've just flashed the stock Nordic ICS ROM, I had the one for UK&Ireland before and since then I've not been able to use any other language on keyboard than the English one. I've choosed more than 2 different languages and noone of them has been able to work. Swiping the gap button changes the name of the language but the font remains the same.
I flashed again Nordic via Odin, I also flashed UK ROM (XEU) again, I reseted the phone through settings, recovery and password, nothing changed at all. More, I reseted the data of the keybord apk, the problem still here.
It's insane, I need your immediate help, this problem came out of nothing, I've followed the right procedure of flshing with the ROMs of sammobile, before flashind everything was alright, now it's not.
Please let me know if you have any solution to this or any knowledge of the fact.
Thanks

In these two minutes I've found out what the CSC is and with a password I accesed directly this menu. It's empty. Up above, it's written XEU and below that there is a blank option. So when I choose that, a message pops up "needs THREE characters".
Which are the options now ?

Sorry for the blurry photo, a quick one.
As you can see, none. As I described before.
I can't even get what happened and lost that CSC, the first flash one month ago was absolutely OK, now the same ROM, as well as the Nordic one, has this issue.
Now ?

Agree, that's strange. I can select it, tap INSTALL and the message "Needs THREE chars" pops up.
I'm gonna flash the Nordic ROM again and check these CSC options, if there's any difference.
I realised that some ROM rars contain only the .tar file, others also contain two more .md5 files, one of them is used into the Odin at the section CSC for flashing. But I can't do anything more with that I guess.

One .tar file combines the 3 .tar files together, so that shouldn't be the problem.

Downloaded, flashed again. All that after I had wiped cache and dalvik cache and reseted the phone. Nothing. Still no CSC option, no other language in use. One thing I've noticed in Odin, once it concluded the installation, the message into the green area showed 3:5. Does this mean that the installation ws not full eventully ? Also, I open the .tar file and I can't see any CSC .bin file.

If you want to change your keyboard language, you can download better keyboard alternatives in market.
But if you want back csc code, i think you will need to flash an extracted csc.tar package or another firmware via Odin

[Q] How to change from UK to AUS settings on my i9100?

Hi,
i bought my phone from the UK and imported it to Australia.
When i want to share a location on google maps it always sends me to the UK version of google maps! how can i change this?
i must be missing something? my phone seems to think its still in England.
ive changed the keyboard and Language settings to English (Australia).
but cant find any other option..
Thanks
Try the following: Get the free app "market access" from the market. Then set it to your local provider and go to market and then upgrade maps.
You might have to delete your existing maps application first.

What he wants is to change the CSC to a specific country using the Multi CSC on his SGSII:
1) Open the dialer
2) Dial *#272*imei# (replace 'imei' with your devices' IMEI number)
Not sure what the CSC code is for Australia though...

Not sure about that. If the problem is only related to google maps then I would just try to delete and reinstall it. It also must work without a country specific CSC.
However, you can try both suggestions and find out what works for you!
What about your google market account? Does it still show a UK provider for your device?
so i have figured out this much.
i need to change the csc on my phone!
(changes the region of the phone)
i dont think cognition rom comes with a multi-csc
so im going to look for one now.
Changing your CSC will Reset your phone to factory settings
these are Australian CSC codes
OPS - Australia (YES OPTUS)
VAU - Australia (Vodafone) BRANDED
XSA - Australia (Telstra, YES OPTUS, Vodafone AU, Virgin Mobile, 3, Crazy Johns)
HUT - Australia (3) BRANDED

The best you could do is uninstall google maps with titanium and reinstall it from the market again. If it gives you the correct position then make it a system app again with titanium.Your CSC wont have to much to do with the problem at all.Ive had to use KOR in the past various times and its had no effect with the function of google. You could always try Omega as there are various people from aussie using it without problems including maps and it has a multi CSC pack buit in.
its not just maps... its everything on this phone! thinking its in EU when its in AUSTRALIA!
i need to flash a new CSC but i dont know which one or where to get it from
Then what you should do is flash an Aussie firmware that will have your CSC with it.this is what I would do
1.Root your phone
2.Boot to recovery and go to "Mounts and Storage" and format System,Data and Cache
3.Go back and wipe Cache Partition and factory reset then boot.
Your phone wont reboot properly now because you have formatted the system so pull the battery, put it back in and boot to download mode and flash the following Firmware,
http://hotfile.com/dl/146325623/ef440d8/I9100XWKK2_I9100XSAKK1_XSA.zip.html
password-samfirmware.com
After flashing do a factory reset and you will have an Aussie Firmware.Download from the market a free app like GPS Status and get a lock on your position. If you want from there, root and look for a ROM that has a multi-CSC pack built-in like mine does.Flash it and use Nitrality to change the CSC code.
First off xheers for your help
I did all what you said.
I installed checkrom v6 (multi-csc) apparently
And my csc is still the same as the beginning.

I flash ur rom then flashed checkrom after doin all those formats you said.

Mate thats one wierd problem.A ROMs CSC pack should show up with nitrality and give you the available list.*#272 does the same thing but from the phone, you enter *#272*(IMEI)# and you get the CSC list. You could try another ROM to make sure its your phone and not the ROM thats the problem.Try my one.Flash the GB ROM link that below the Omega sign and see if it works.I cant see why it wont change. It should have changed by just flashing the firmware I gave you as it was an Aussie one but give the Omega GB v10.4 version a go and see if the multi CSC appears. If not well have to look else where cos its a strange one alright.

[Q] Original CSC Code

Does anybody know how to find the original CSC code? I have updated my firmware several times and I don't have the original CSC Code.
Now when I connect to KIES It says "This version of the device can not be updated".
Help
Type *#272*(IMEI)# and you will see the CSC list.Select and done.By doing this it will reboot via (if i remember correctly)factory reset so may be a good idea to back-up but it should warn you first that it will fact/reset so if you want you can cancel and back-up if you havnt already.
EDIT:also depending on what firmware you put on your phone and depending on what your product code also is Kies might not recognize your firmware either.

Depending on the firmware it may or may not be in there but for singapore see if there is an OLB in there. Some multi CSC packages dont always have what you want. For example most here in XDA dont have FOP for Spain so Im left using KOR instead which is Korea. It works atleast. If its not there you could try OZS for HongKong

The CSC is just location specific apn settings and maybe bundles apps. Nothing hugely important.
If you are missing your apn settings did net or mms you can just enter them manually or change CSC.

In most cases i wont make any difference. As I said earlier sometimes here in Spain Im forced to use KOR which is Korea and it works fine.If you have an original firmware flashed for your region it should be in there but I find that in my case when I flash the XDA firmwares they usually are missing my CSC although they can be flashed seperatly. If you have a KOR then give it a try to as its probably a better region choice.if it works here in Spain it should be good for Singapore.

[Q] unable to up SGS2 to ICS

Hi,
I have an Orange branded SGS2 running the stock Andriod and Kies doesn't let me upgrade to ICS. Message "Your device does not support upgrading via kies", but as I understand it, this is because it has a different Phone firmware. I have been trying to look for the right one, but the links are dead in this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928 .
When I type *#1234#, it gives me:
PDA: I9100BVKH2
Phone: I9100XXLPQ
CSC: I9100ORAKH2
Now I'm guessing only the Phone firmware is wrong, as my sister has the same phone, also Orange, and her's gives the following info:
PDA: I9100BVKH2
Phone: I9100BVKH1
CSC: I9100ORAKH2
So my question(s), is this the problem? And if it is, anyway I can only update the "Phone" firmware, without having to reinstall everything, if so, anyone got a link to the BVKH1 phone firmware? If no one does, anyway of extracting this from my sister's phone?
And if it's not the problem, how can I solve Kies not wanting to upgrade it?
Thanks!

Why don't you get I9100BVKJ4 (with CSC I9100ORAKJ4) from samfirmware.com then? This is UK Orange, and is a higher version than BVKH1.
Or, download I9100BVLPB (with CSC I9100ORALPB, which is also UK Orange) which is 4.0.3, and the one you would likely get through Kies anyways?

Shouldn't remove ANYthing, actually. (aside from root if you have it) These are all non-wipe packages.
It's usually recommended to do a wipe before an install, but you don't have to.
But backing up before flashing is always a good idea.

[Q] Change of Android software (Phone gifted to me from overseas)

Hello,
A family member went to Dubai and bought back a Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300). They've said it is an International model (Korean). I'm from New Zealand.
What I would like to do is install the official NZ android firmware on the device. Is this possible? Does it require me to root the device? Do I need to first change the CSC?
If I need to change the CSC, could someone please point me in the right direction?
Thank you
You don't need to root or change csc.
Go to www.sammobile.com and download official Vodafone NZ firmware.
Flash this via Odin.

Awesome, thanks so much! Will PM if I need your help.
Are you sure its not a M440S? The international korean is identical to the i9300 in terms of hardware but has a different bootloader and requires a slightly different kernel.
Hi xSpeced,
How would I find out if it is a M440S?
I downloaded the VNZ (I9300XXEMA1) version from: http://samsung-updates.com/region/?region=VNZ - however Samsung Kies tells me:
"Your device's current firmware is not supported to update firmware via Kies."
"Current firmware version: PDA:MA1 / PHONE:LLA / CSC: LL1 (XSG)"
The XSG is United Arab Emirates region. Shouldn't this be changed to VNZ?

I downloaded the VNZ (I9300XXEMA1) version from: http://samsung-updates.com/region/?region=VNZ - however Samsung Kies tells me:
"Your device's current firmware is not supported to update firmware via Kies."
"Current firmware version: PDA:MA1 / PHONE:LLA / CSC: LL1 (XSG)"
The XSG is United Arab Emirates region. Shouldn't this be changed to VNZ?

boot into recovery mate and it'll flash the VNZ CSC.
To check model number go to settings/about device and check the model number: International S3 is GT-i9300
Thanks. I have already gone into Recovery, done the Cache wipe and Reset. I then went into Download mode and used Odin to flash the downloaded file.
Settings says the device is GT-I9300.
Do I need to do another Cache wipe and Reset?

EDIT: My phone says
AP: I9300XXEMA1
CP: I9300XXELLA
CSC: I9300VNZELL1
So, the CSC has changed. Just Kies says (XSG)?

What you have done is fine.
Generally after flashing different firmware through Odin your CSC code doesn't change until you next boot into recovery then it automatically flashes new CSC.
If your phone says VNZELL1 then you're sweet mate. Have you checked in Kies again, maybe your CSC hadn't changed when you checked?
Either way it sounds like you've now got it sorted.
Kies is a pretty crappy piece of software I would uninstall it personally. You have all the drivers needed and Odin so Kies is pretty much irrelevant now. As soon as new firmware is available you can just flash with Odin.
I flash the latest firmware with the highest changelog regardless of country, right now I'm running Hong Kong firmware.
Enjoy your new phone!
Awesome, thank you so much for your help and information. I'm an Android freak but I get scared when it comes to flashing and rooting. Learning as I go.
Left my phone at home as had to pop out. So will pop into recovery mode and try again.
What do you use to back your phone up without Kies?

Just a question...i also got my phone from dubai thats why...why do you want to change your country on the phone? I think dubai gets OTA's before new zealand gets them...isnt it?

I sent you a PM. My phone shows me a Software Update notification, asking me to register. But it says, processing failed. Doing a Google on this now, but if you have any ideas, that would be most appreciated.
Edit: I've fixed this myself with help of Google. Silly me forgot to sign into my Samsung Account. Now getting OTA updates. Doing a 24mb update as we speak.

I just prefer a NZ version of the software, really. I'm not worry about when NZ gets the updates.

CSC Changed

Hi all,
hoping somebody can help me?
My stock csc was XEU and i went ahead and flashed a custom rom where XEU wasn't available in the csc selector so i chose BTU.
I am now trying to return to full stock by flashing XEU stock rom but unfortunately my phone has kept the BTU csc and i haven't found a way to change this. Is there a way for me to force the phone to pick up XEU again?
Thanks in advance
Is XEU in the CSC subfolder?
If it is, try *#272*IMEI# in the dialer. Use your IMEI number!

not sure how to check the csc subfolder?
i have tried your suggestion of dialing *#272*MYIMEI# in the dialer but nothing happens
just to confirm i have found xeu inside System\CSC
so definitely is there, just dont know what to do with it
In that case, you can try the sales_code.dat file. Edit it to your carrier name.

Yeah stock recovery doesn't like when you just manipulate the files to change carriers! Too bad the dialer method didn't work for you. That was how I changed mine when it defaulted to BMC instead of RWC when I went back to stock.
