Is it me, or does anyone else have phone ADD? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I've had Android since the HTC hero on sprint, moved to the Evo Shift, got the nexus S, and now the new evo.
This phone is incredible, but I'm just bored as hell. Does anyone else get really bored with their phone?
I'm thinking of selling this and buying an iPhone, only because it finally somewhat caught up to android and it's just different.
How much do you think I should sell this phone for? Also, if I did want an android after the iphone, the iPhone has amazing resale value and thats just attractive as well.

Oops free thanks there

When I get bored I flash a new ROM and play with that lol

all the roms are the same imo.
all sense roms look and feel the same
I had miui and aosp on my nexus s and had that.
Im just bored lol
Iphone 5 isnt that bad. its got a solid processor thats better than the current s4.
The build quality has also always been really good too.

Well, the glass panel on the back was a poor decision but overall I agree on build quality

You're bored with ANDROID and think an iPhone will excite you?? Hahaha.
Enjoy deciding whether your icons are on screen one or screen two.

If i had the nexus s and the evo now.. im pretty sure thats not the case.
sell evo
buy ip5
sell ip5
buy newest android.

The Iphone 5 processor is better than the s4? Sure, on paper it looks nice but I personally won't make that call until I get to use them side by side. The s4 is such a good processor that even Samsung uses it in the us version of the galaxy 3. I'm not an apple fan, but in fairness, they make nice devices. To each their own.

Hey Joe, I been with Apple iPhone since the iPhone 3G-3GS. I got all into it and started to learn the process for jailbreaking. Let me just tell say, it was fun but like every customization. Not everything works! Due to the jailbreaking team catching up on the random iOS updates. Long story short.. When the iPhone 4 came out I was one of the few to get it the first day. It was a pretty good change at the time coming from the 3G. It took Apple two years to come out with the iPhone 5. I was waiting for the world wide conference to see if it will finally bring a change to the table. After seeing that it still looks like the iPhone 4 and will not surpass a big difference in performance like the iPhone 4S. I made the jump to Android over this past weekend. I knew I was because I had my doubts about Apple just trying to make more money. The reason I knew was making the change was because a few months back when the Samsung Galaxy S2 was at its peak I was a proud owner of one for about 3 months. While having a iPhone 4 and a Android device I quickly began to tell the difference in how advance Android phones were about. The screen size, the none laggyness, the performance was amazing compared to any iPhone. My girl now flows with the iPhone 4S. And to tell you the truth, yes its responsive but it still lacks in the department of performance. For me it lacks in two major factors! Free to customization and screen size. Plus the fact of having such a noob "user friendly" OS system is crap. For crying out loud, even my grandma is rocking an iPhone. It sucks that Apple is changing the way we communicate because of their well established campaign! (For the older crowd to get in the action too) lol... So yea my story simply is justifying that being a long term 4+ years user of a iPhone product. I'm here to say I'm done from their marketing scheme. Everybody has problems with Apps and their phones. But if you know how to run them correctly and are tech like you will not have a issue with any software or build. But what Apple is bringing to the table with these iPhones upgrades does not compare to what HTC EVO or any Android device done so far and will continue to do so. I suggest to see it for your self. But I am also saying, you will not be in for surprise. Except for two important updates they made to Two Apps. (youtube & facebook) Like I said, there is a reason why these two main apps on Android runs like shyt and on the iPhone they run great ever since like a month ago. (its all a scam, Apple are Gangsters with Suites On) Apple paid a big lump to Facebook & YouTube to recreate/renew their Application faster. For the purpose of being First in line. Mark Zuckerberg gave him self away by announcing on Facebook "how great the new update on the iPhone is recreated by his team" Trust me it should not take Android a million years to create "renew" these two Apps. But for some reason they are. Main reason should be: THEY ARE UNDER CONTRACT. That being said, I think the main two Apps you will enjoy more on the iPhone will be Facebook, & YouTube. Dam I wrote a lot..Or should I say, Ranting.
So in conclusion:
You have a look of a man who excepts what he sees, because he's excepting to wake up. Ironically this is not far from the truth. Let me tell you why you are here. You are here because you know something. What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire time with Android. That there is something wrong with the world of smart phones. You don't know what it is but its there like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. It is this feeling that has broughten you to me.
Do you know what I'm talking about?
(Joe answers): The iPhone....
(Me): Do you want to know what it is?
(Joe nods curiously)
The iPhone is everywhere, it is all around us. Even now in this very Thread! You can see it when you look out your window, or when you turn on your television, you can feel it when you go to work. When you go to Church! When you pay your taxes....It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to Blind you from the truth.
(Joe replys) What truth?
That you are a slave Joe. Like everyone else you were born into bondage, born into a prison that you cannot smell, taste or touch. A prison for your mind!
Unfortunatly no one can't be told what the iPhone is. You have to see it for your self. (places pills on table)
This is your last chance Joe. After this there is no turning back. You TAKE THE BLUE PILL THE STORY ENDS, YOU WAKE UP IN YOUR BED AND CONTINUE ON WITH YOUR HTC EVO. You take the RED pill, you stay in wonder land AND I show you HOW DEEP THE RABBIT HOLE GOES.
(moments passes, with spooky music playing in the background)
Remember, all I'm offering is the Truth. Nothing more.

There is nothing wrong with your iPhone. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your iPhone. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to... I'm the same way. As I write this I have 2 original evo's, a Thunderbolt, a Fascinate, 2 MiFi's, a Nexus 7 and the new iPad sitting around me. I do some phone flashing so thats why I have a couple of the phones but they are all mine...oh yea and my EVO LTE. I get bored easily too. I'm getting an iPhone 4 Friday because I'm getting a great deal on it and just want something else to play with. I'm thinking about getting a 5 if I can do a little trading for one. I ported my number to Google Voice when they started offering it so I could switch carriers with easy. Bottom line...I'm a Tech junkie just like you. I need my next fix!!!!

U know, when apple was coming up they had that commercial during the superbowl where people were being brainwashed in q black and white theatre. Then "Apple Zeus" or who ever it was smashed thru the screen and made everything color. Revolt and Revolution was rampant of course.
It's funny how sides have changed. Apple is now the establishment trying to brainwash everyone. Android is the new Apple as far as ingenuity is concerned.
Matter of fact, android doesn't even need Apple. Phone manufacturer's compete well enough on android to spurn innovation.

i mean android did completely change initially before the g1 when the iphone came out, It was going to be a blackberry style phone.
Apple did a great job introducing something new in the world, but android constantly changes.
The first iphone looks like the 6th one.
the G1 looks nothing like the Gnex. Android changes so much and keeps getting better and more unique with time.

[Q] Swapping my iphone4 with SGS2, am i gonna regret?

like the title, i have someone who willing to swap his SGS2 with my iphone4. i lke the SGS2 but i am not sure wether it is worth the swap. if u guys be me, would u do it? i use my device mainly for text, internet and organizer. not really into game. i like the big screen of SGS2 which can make web browsing more enjoyable.
thanks for your opinion. =)
1) You are on XDA Developers, who believe in openness and the freedom to customize your device as you please.
2) You ask whether you will regret the swap from iOS to Android here, especially about a phone that is on demand by most and is Android.
I don't think there is a proper way to answer it, its like asking the Mac forums whether you would regret the switch to Windows.
I would suggest playing with an Android device to see whether you like it. I am switching from an iOS device to the SGS II as well and I dont think I will regret it. Especially now that Android Market place has almost the same apps and this device is a Dual Core 1GB Ram beast.
exactly, you are on the sgs2 section of xda forum....
it really is a personal thing, my suggestion is make the change and have a taste of android OS, if you don't like it, wait for the iphone 5~
A plain swap? Hell yes. Even if you don't like it just sell it for like $750-$800 (convert it to your local currency just in case) when the iPhone 4 is just around $450-$500. You will make more money even if you don't like the phone.
I would love to find someone here in Toronto who is willing to just swap their SGS2 with my iPhone 4...it's going to suck having to cough up an extra $150-200
I personally wouldnt regret the swap of an iphone for a Nokia 2110. So swapping an iphone for an SGS2, youll b fine!
I'm doing the same thing, and I doubt I'll have any regrets whatsoever. I'm gaining money and I'm switching to a better, newer phone.
As above, go for it
Seriously, this phone is likely to be the first true iPhone killer, where it performs better than your iThing... Take a look at video reviews to get a flavour of it Some phrases that sprung to mind included "smoothest android phone yet" etc...
And if you really don't like it, you should be able to resell it at a better price, or indeed find someone who would trade the SGS II for an iP4 again...

lol i love that phrase....'iphone killer'... using that phrase is like saying the iphone is the number one phone and all the other phones being made are clawing at its feet, waiting for it to drop a crumb of food!
I will not submit to the notion that the iphone is in anyway better than my old Nokia 2110!
(This is just my opinion and may not reflect the opinion of millions of other who have made the iphone one of the best selling phones in the world)
Coming from iphone 4 i love this sgs2 more, its not my first android device so i no what to expect and its a pleasure using this its super fast and enjoyable, ill be honest i would of got iphone 5 if that was released, i will still buy ip5 when its out but ill be keeping this beast still, every1 has there own taste but your getting so much more out of this than an ip4,

Neither will I, but I am just conveying what some of the fanbois are saying =D
Engadget are some of the biggest fanbois and they loved it.
One thing I have noticed is, the text display rendering, especially in browser is better on iPhone. The columns resize to readable fonts on double tapping in iOS. Android browser doesn't have such 'sophisticated' column resize etc.

get both and get a sim tray thing to put the sim to the atrix done!
Apple and iOS = purgatory!
You want full on Devil..............come over to the dark side and get you some Atrix!
i went from an iphone 4 to an atrix and dont regret it at all. Ive owned every iphone thats came out so i was kind of tired of ios.. ive actually recently been thinking of going back to an iphone 4 though just because the new ios5 looks pretty cool [: I have a tab anyways so ill still have an android device to play around with..
I have an extra Atrix, what size is your iphone?
pm me
I was an iPhone user for a long time but really got tired of iOS and its limitations.
I've had my Atrix for a few months now and never looked back. Now with the bootloader unlocked. It's a no brainer. This phone's full potential hasn't even been shown yet.
So yeah. Do it.

i also came from iphone with 3 iphones in my family i really dont miss the iphone 4 at all i have never looked back with the bootloader unlocked so good bye blurr and hello cynogenmod
Own a mans phone
When I buy something I want to own it and do what I want with it. When you buy Apple you get to do what they want you to. It's an awesome marking tool keeps you from finding bugs in iOS. It’s so locked down that you can't possible get all the performance out of it. It's also arrogant as hell and makes the assumption we are too stupid to use something with feature and configurability. The APP interface is pretty. But I don't carry a dog in my Gucci. Buy a man’s phone the Atrix! If it was any more butch it would need a shave in the morning. Plus all the business apps on the Android are more powerful and functional and of yes we can hack the crap out it, if we want. It’s your phone; just like PC vs. Apple 20 years ago where are the screws in my case says the Apple users. They don’t call it Jail break for nothing.
I Owned a 3G 16 then a 3GS 32 replaced Bravo then Atrix and the next Motorola phone. The best thing Motorola did was get in bed with Nvidia because the new processor from Nvidia is 6 cores 1.866GHZ! That’s going to be one hot phone latterly.
I did it, not big problem at all, i feel free using android OS, I like iOS but I love android OS! Take an atrix and test it so if you don´t like it return it, so not big deal but maybe you fall in love with android OS like I did
I came from an iPhone 3Gs on 4.x jailbroken. There's only a few things I miss from the iPhone (automatic full phone backups via iTunes, and tapping the status bar to scroll up) other than those two things I love everything else about the Atrix/Android.
I came form a iPhone 3GS (jailbroke on 4.xx ios) to the Atrix. Truthfully, at first I was a little disappointed, there is a definitely a learning curve coming from the ios platform. That being said however, if you pay attention to the forums, ask questions when you need too, and are able to follow directions, you will be more pleased with the Android os overall. After about 2 - 3 weeks of learning how things work on Android, the file structure, adb, etc. It become second nature and really shows you what you've been missing from the iPhone.
The Android os is so open to themeing it's unbelievable. Widgets, frameworks, etc. Once you learn your way around you'll be glad you switched. There are several things I still miss from the iPhone, like the shear number of apps (android is catching up though) and the visual voice mail (yeah I use Google voice now, but still not as easy or good as the iPhone voice mail), but all in all 4 months later, I am very glad I made the switch, and will never go back to the locked down hell that is the iPhone world.
I recently came from the iOS world to the Atrix. I owned every iPhone to the current 4. I am glad I made the swtich. I just have more freedom to make my phone work/run the way I want it to. iOS should be called OURos. My fiance used my phone the other day. She presently has a 3gs. She now wants an Infuse! Make the switch, you won't miss the iPhone!

i think the iphone 4 has one of the best screens iv seen, how close does the atrix come to it?everytime i go to att or bestbuy to see the atrix they only have a non working phone on the floor.
if screen is your priority you're better off with SGS2 (contrast/vivid colours but you're going down to 800x480 res) or HTC Sensation (same res as Atrix).
Atrix's screen does the job, I have no complaints (it works lol, no obvious defects or issues), but it isn't as good as SGS2 or iphone IMO. However like I said it works with no obvious issues, so its not important for me.

Switch to incredible 4g from iPhone 4s

I'm thinking about doing it. Anyone else make the plunge? What do you think of the incredible vs the 4s?
I haven't but I guess it just depends on what you like or dislike about your operating system and the phone looks.
I've never owned an apple anything much less an Iphone. I will say this though, I do have friends that have Iphones and I watch them power it up, zip right to an app or go right to the phone and start dialing away, seems pretty fast to me. My Dinc is somewhat laggy compared to their speeds of hitting buttons, like waiting for my dialer to come up or say the market to load or other stuff.
Now I realize I got apps I've downloaded etc, but so have they. I'm not pitching a sales for Iphone because I am not an Apple fan however, I personally think the Iphone is a hell of a lot sexier than most any other makers phones available. That aluminum housing is just badass looking.
Also realize this is just my thoughts compared to an OG Dinc, I would imagine the Inc 4g should be a crapload faster than my Dinc....
My gf just got this phone from the iPhone 4 yesterday. She loves it so far and is absolutely amazed how much you can customize. She was a little overwhelmed from everything but that's just because the iPhone had literally nothing to customize. Screen is soo crisp, an phone is fast.

Yes. This phone is a world of difference from the original Incredible. I loved the original Incredible but there was never any question that the iPhone was smoother--just completely impossible to customize without jailbreaking. With the Incredible 4G and Ice Cream Sandwich optimizations, the difference is negligible. So now it's really just a question of whether you want customizability or not, and which UI design you prefer. I think Sense 4 is much more beautiful than iOS, but that's a matter of taste.

Polarimetric, that's good to hear, and what I was hoping to hear myself. One question though, I know I've heard of jailbreaking, and my interpretation of this was the same thing as rooting? If that's the case wouldn't the Iphone peeps have the same level as customizing their Iphones as we do our Androids?
I had a 4s prior. Yes pretty customizable if jailbroken, had nice themes. However I find myself preferring android, because of more options, connectivity, and 4G service, of course on Verizon.

Theoretically, yes. Jailbreaking and rooting are pretty much the same thing (they're both just essentially using an exploit to remove the restrictions placed on the phone by the carrier/manufacturer/OS developer), so iPhones and Android phones in theory should be customizable to the same degree. However, one of the reasons the Android dev community is so much more robust (and thus Android phones are considerably more customizable) is the difference between Google's attitude toward the dev community and Apple's attitude. While Google has largely taken a look-the-other-way approach (the only way in which they've really ever put their foot down is disallowing Google-branded apps from being distributed with custom ROMs, but they've never done anything about the Gapps packages that float around the internet), Apple has devoted hours upon hours of development toward addling or completely getting rid of the iPhone dev community. Although they've been unsuccessful and jailbreaking still exists, Apple's adamant anti-development, closed-source policy has turned many developers toward Android. While almost all Android phones are customizable all the way down to the system level (installing a custom ROM can completely change the user experience), iPhones are mostly just tweakable. An iPhone is always going to be an iPhone. If you like iPhones, that may not be a problem for you, but if you like being part of a community that pretty much guarantees choice, Android will always be the way to go.
im on the verge of switching from my 4s to the inc 4g lte due to the fact that i miss android. this is my 3rd time switching from the iphone to android due to the fact that i miss lte and the community :silly:

i think he will like the switch from crapple to android.
esp once i steal and root his phone,
IMO the only thing this phone needs is an Amoled screen and it would be absolutely perfect. Battery life is excellent even in low signal areas like my home. I really don't have anything to complain about with this phone...and I'm pretty picky. I'm just not a fan of the larger screen phones...battery life suffers tremendously. My wife was playing with it all weekend, she has the iphone 4s and wants the Inc 4G immediately. And she is a die-hard iphone junky. Let's see how she feels when the iphone 5 comes out...hehe.

I don't see how that can be said. I went from a DINC 1 to the iPhone 4S and was amazed with how smooth it is. I miss Android and flashing stuff some, so I'm looking back into it a bit. Just don't understand the statements like this. The thing is stupid fast, takes some amazing pictures, and the battery life has been killer.
Not a fanboy at all, just can respect things. If the DINC 4G LTE came out before the 28th, I'd have snagged one and kept my unlimited. Now I think I'll have to buy phones outright. :crying:
If you have been sticking with iPhone or at least iPod or iPad, I strongly recommend you to move over to Android world. I had iPhone 4S before (although it's not my previous phone), it's dramatic but more fun to discover. iPhone was just too bring for me, and I didn't like jailbreaking because the system got unstable. If you like customizing stuff, I'm pretty sure you would like the phone!

You went from the dinc 1 to the iPhone 4s... That's like going from a tube tv to a 1080 Samsung flat screen. I owned the dinc 1 before but that was like 10 tech years ago...
Comparing the latest incredible 4g to the iphone 4s would be more fair. I am stunned how far android has evolved and HTC Sense becoming an actual benefit rather than a burden.
So far the incredible has a great camera, killer OS, and is smooth as butter. I just wish manufactures really did spend more time coming out with quality 4 inchers.
HTC is the maker. Cmon google! Give them the nexus.

Ooh. Should have read the specific article I linked to before I linked you to it.
That article seems to theorize they'll all be Samsung, but most other articles I've read have said that the 5 incoming Nexus devices will come from all different manufacturers, bringing more diversity to the Nexus phone brand. Here's a better article on the same subject that lines up better with what I wanted to say: http://androidandme.com/2012/05/new...from-different-manufacturers-by-thanksgiving/
So, essentially, if the rumor is true, the major manufacturers (presumably HTC and Samsung, obviously the Google-owned Motorola; the other two depend on who they can get--I'd bet Asus will be one of them) would all contribute a phone to the Nexus brand, making Google's Nexus store kind of like a carrier of its own.
I am down for that!
Considering I'm stuck buying phones at retail I'm in for sure. Very exciting news.

The incredible is a way better choice, u will be happy with ur decision, considering ur going to root it, only get it if ur planning on rooting. I am purchasing this phone tomorrow, upgrading from the HTC Thunderbolt and I'm very exited.

Just switched to Android and GNII

I have been on iOS since the 3G was released. On Thursday I got the GNII and today I flashed Bean's ROM. Awesome!!! holy crap Batman, this is a geek's wet dream right here.
Bill
Welcome to the party!
Lol, you'll never go back.....
Congratulations on your purchase (and new found freedom!) -- I'm sure you'll enjoy your Note II.
Another convert! Awesome! :highfive:
My sister has the 16GB iPhone 4S and now she hates the iPhone lol She takes a ton of photos and eventually ran out of storage. Android Does what iPhone can't.
Android FTW!
My neighbors are an older couple. They're fairly tech saavy for their age but they're die hard Apple fans....Macs, iPods, iPhones, iPads, the works. I always give them hell and show off my new Android. Last week I showed them my GN2 and the wife actually said "that will be my next phone". She's got a few more months until her contact expires but she's fed up with little screens. Once I get her over, I'll see what I can do about replacing some other iCrap.

Welcome, you'll never want to go back to a 4inch phone again.
Eh I can see why people hate iOS products but I really don't. I have an iPad and a Macbook Pro and I love them both. I also loved my iPhone 4 and 4S. I like iOS and I like how the iPhone 5 looks but I prefer Android. I eventually get bored with iOS and need a bigger screen so I go back to android. iOS is like that temptation you go out n seek for a few months but then always come back home to good old reliable n loyal Android

The only iDevice I do like is the iPad. It was simply just done right. Simple and fun with a great app ecosystem, and Web browsing. That's all I really care about for a tablet (though I have the N7 and getting the N10).
The iPhone simply is too small and doesn't have enough of what I want/need. And Mac's, if you're coming from Windows, you have to find all these different work around to do stuff that's easy on Windows. Especially when it comes to rooting all my Android stuff.
Anyways, congrats on the upgrade and welcome to the family!

I know what ya mean. My mom is 62 and she has the iPad 3, iPod mini 4th gen, iPad mini and a Mac Mini (she's a bit of an apple nut). I've gone through a ton of phones (as you know Josh) over the past year and every Android phone I've had she's been blown away BUT... with the Note 2 she is floored and loves the size and s pen. I've bought her android devices in the past to try and get her to convert. Problem is I was trying to early. I got her the HTC Evo View (honeycomb) and the 5" galaxy tab (gingerbread).... so you can imagine how those experiences were for her. To this day she says android is to confusing and buggy. I think her opinion has changed playing with my note.

Congrats! The Note II is simply awesome, I love mine!
I still love OS X for my desktop OS though. I feel like it is the reverse of the phone world. Windows is like the iPhone (everyone just gets it without thinking) and OS X was for people who wanted a bit more, and its slowly catching up to Windows.

Exactly. Part of the reason for my switch was bordom. I knew everything about iOS. No challenge. The geek factor was gone. I had dreams of flashing ROM's
I feel the fact I appreciate Android now makes me very "well rounded". iOS and Android have their places. My mom, she has an iPhone and iPad. She jumped right in, figured the basics out, and is very happy. I can't imagine handing her my GNII and having her manage it.

Also just switched from years and years with iOS. For me the great irony was that when we met my technologically-challenged wife had an Android phone and I had an iPhone 4...now she has a 4S and I just got the Note 2. Her almost daily frustration with her old phone (Droid of some sort) made the choice easy when her upgrade time came...my tinkering nature combined with the size and smoothness of the N2 made my choice easy. She just shakes her head when I start yammering on about having just rooted it, or how I'm customizing the latest launcher I'm playing with...but we're both much happier.
IOS most definitely has its place.
One of my best friends for years is a major factory rep for a bunch of electronic lines and is tech savvy.
He lives in a 3 million dollar house on CapeCod and has an awful lot more money than I do......
This guy could have any phone/OS etc that he wants for free but he uses an iphone. I asked him why once and he is one of those guys who says "i just want it to work, I could care less about any customization etc."
I looked at his iphone and he never even bothered to change the wallpaper and he absolutely loves the thing.
Oh ya, head shaking and blank stares when I start talkign about the excitement of the unlock process and loading a new rom. I love it.

Exactly. It's hard to touch iOS from a "just pick it up and start using it" standpoint. I get a bit annoyed when people are so one sided they trash talk either Android or iOS. We are very fortunate to have 2 excellent choices (ok, 3 if you count Win8, which isn't too bad either)
But for me Android didn't become a player until ICS/JB. I started getting really curious in June of last year, then when I watched the Google IO keynote I was like 'Damn, project butter rocks".

Seems like people start with one or the other and stay with it. They really only change to the other if:
Android to IOS
- Friend got an iPhone
- My really old phone is still on GB
- My really old phone is buggy and/slow
- I can't figure this thing out
IOS to Android
- I'm bored. Why can't I customize
- No Flash Player??? WTF
- When will I get JB for IOS 6?
- Apple Maps don't know where I am (it's really not that bad lol)
- I want NFC, big screens, expandable memory, changeable battery, ect!!!
- That's neat, can I flash Roms on my iPhone?
- This is getting expensive
- Wait, I can get free apps without jailbreaking??
There's probably more for each list lol.

So do I.
I coach my 12 year daughters soccer team and one of the Moms from the team was talking about upgrading her old droid phone (I'm not even sure which one she had) to an iphone. She told me her phone was very slow/laggy and buggy and she just wanted something simple that worked.
I had a spare ROMed and tweaked Rezound that I was not using and I offered it to her for free. She turned me down flat saying "I never want to see another android phone at this point" and two weeks ago she used an upgrade to buy an iphone 5.
I was talking to her last night and asked how she liked her new phone. She said "this is what I should have bought in the first place"

Can't decide..

I can't decide if I want a DNA or iPhone 5. I have my upgrade may 1. I have owned 2 android phones that both have given me issues ( xperia play and LG Lucid. ) I have experienced multiple issues on both android devices therefore it makes me nervous about getting another android device. IPhones on the other hand, my friends have had very few issues, unless dropped but of course I would keep a case on my iPhone. Could you guys help me decide?

HTC Droid DNA has been a VERY solid phone for me. I'd choose DNA over iPhone 5 any day.

do you like customization? do you like a full 1080p high Def screen? do you like a quad core processor with 2 gigs of ram?
the phones you had, well, sucked. they were very low end android phones. the Lucid is terrible lol we used to sell that.. made me a huge profit but I hated selling it. the xperia was meh. the dna is a premium high end device.
people with iPhones "don't have issues" because you can't do everything on them you can on an Android. for example, people don't complain about errors or force closing on iPhones because when an app force closes, they don't tell you it's performed an error. it just backs out to the home screen, ans doesn't tell you why. most people think "oh just a small glitch, I'll uninstall and reinstall the app..." and then it's fixed.
believe me, when I worked at Verizon, I saw more idiots with iPhones with problems than I thought could possibly exist. I couldn't believe that many people didn't even know how to use an iPhone. good god.

No one can really decide for you, but my friend got the iPhone 5 coming from a droid razr and then I got my dna and let him use it and he wished that he stayed with android. What are you looking to do on your phone. The droid dna can do just about everything. Where as the iPhone 5 doesn't have some features the dna has. The specs aren't really even comparable in my opinion, the dna beats all of the iPhone.

I carry both of them if there's anything you're wondering about just send me a PM.
My general rule of thumb is if you plan to jailbreak your iPhone don't bother with an iPhone and get an Android. And if that's the case the DNA is the first phone I've used to take iPhones out of some long time iDevice family members hands.
If you say to yourself you are 100 percent satisfied with an iPhone out of the box and just want something that doesnt need to be customized or anything, then it's something you might want to consider.

Its a tough call I really I like them both. That said if it was me I would wait it out and look at the HTC One and the iPhone 5S and see which one I like better. If the iPhone 5S comes with a 4+ inch screen and iOS 7 gets a overhaul it maybe a tough call. Despite what the android guys says (most have actually never owned the iPhone 5 (I have)) its a really solid device. Issue is its boring you can't do a lot with it. I like to tinker but to be honest even that gets boring after a while. So if you want something that without a doubt is going to work almost 100% of the time AND you like getting updates for your device on a regular bases then the iPhone is a clear winner. Its fast and it works.
One more thing what HTC has done to Sense 5 I might as well go back to the iPhone. The new Sense brings nothing to the table for me.

The great thing about android is if you want a different look then you change it to what you want. There are very few reported issues as far as software go with android is concerned since the era of jellybean. Android biggest issue is the different hardware that is has to be optimized for. Dna stock is really refined but I for one like to change things up at min once a week. We can't tell you what to chose but if choice is an issue then android is your best bet because you can make it perform like any phone you want.

The iPhone is a solid choice simply because it's so tightly controlled there is very little that can go wrong with it. The LTE is fast, processor and memory are very capable for the OS, battery is good, and everyone who releases an app makes it for the iPhone....usually first.
That being said, and I've been on both sides of the fence, I personally prefer Android devices. Two things keep me away from iOS. First is the screen size. Showing my age here, but I'm pushing 40 and a 3.5-4" screen really doesn't do it for me anymore. Especially after using things which are so easy on the eyes in the 4.3-5" range; it's difficult to get used to an iPhone size again. At the present I'm using a DNA for a few major reasons, namely the display is gorgeous, build quality is fantastic, and the open/customizable nature of Android gives me freedom that an iPhone never will. One thing that kind of surprised me after going to the DNA was that I find myself actually surfing the web on this phone. With the iPhone's cramped screen, surfing the web is do-able, but almost pointless - you'd be much better off on a desktop. However web page rendering on the DNA with the much larger screen, is actually very capable of basic surfing/checking news, etc. I go to my desktop less, especially when I'm working in my lab and need a quick lookup on something; I go to the DNA. iOS itself is very restrictive compared to Android.
My suggestion - if you mainly use a phone for phone calls, text, and apps, then go for an iPhone. If you spend time surfing the web, doing some customizing or tinkering with the innards, as well as calling and texting, go with the DNA. To be honest you can't really go wrong either way; they're just different.
Good luck with your decision, and hopefully we'll see you around these forums after your final decision.
I had a difficult time making that decision as well when I had upgraded a month ago (from a thunderbolt), although the whole integration thing was appealing with the iphone (have an ipad already, plus other family members have iphones), I had decided to go with the dna instead because of the ability to tinker with it and such, enjoy doing that sort of stuff

The thing is though.... you can do that all on the DNA. I would say the DNA on stock is a very stable capable phone and Sense imho looks brilliant over iOS.
I agree though, most apps do come out on the iPhone first due to the platform being more stable and easier to dev for in the beginning.... We'll probably see that change over the course of time with JB and onward though.
I agree with everything said here. It was really a tough for me to decide especially since I use Mac computers, iPad, Apple TV, Time Capsule, etc.. but on android you can flash stuff and try different things if you want too. Its nice having that ability. When I had the iPhone I found myself a little board. I didn't have anything to develop, and everything I had learned to do on android seem to be going to waste.

But then your thumb can't reach all corners of the phone's screen!!
It amazes me when people mention that in reviews of devices, especially when it's a 5 ft guy reviewing it [usually small hands to begin with]. It's neither a pro nor con that's worth mentioning imo
Sarcasm aside, it would be interesting to see Apple come out with a 4+ in screen especially after watching some of their advertisements and events.
All I know is I got my girlfriend the iPhone5 when I bought my DNA and she has more problems than I do.
The only time i've had ANY issue on my DNA is when I screw something up myself from a mod or ROM that I knew was wonky.
My girlfriend on the other hand? Her favorite comment is "I guess i'm done with [insert name of the app that just force closed here" because her iPhone will force close anything from Facebook to the built in camera app.
It makes me laugh because i've always wondered if i'd be happier with an iPhone but I never pulled the trigger and now I know i'll be sticking with Android for the near future at the very least.
Also, her battery life is only slightly better than mine. By 6PM i'm usually sitting around 80% (I don't use my phone much during the day and I have a wireless charger it's on occasionally) but she always has to charge her phone before we go out for the night and I don't.

I'd like to start by saying that I love my DNA its a great device. That said I never had any of those issues on my iPhone 5 none.. also the battery life on mine was kick as$ I could go two days without charging it. Sounds kind of like she needs a hard reset.
My personal opinion is that you should def. get the DNA. In general, if you're going to choose a low grade Android or an iPhone I would recommend the iPhone. I would; however, recommend that a person spend a little bit of money and get a high end Android phone every time. It is well worth the $100-$150 to for a 2 year investment. If it makes you feel better break it down by month. If you do that's about $6.25/month for a completely awesome phone.
I think im sold to the DNA.. about 20 days and I can own one!

I agree with this. Both devices are capable of doing whatever you need. However, you are limited to what you can do with and without jailbreak on iOS. For example, I didn't like the HTC sense look but don't have root yet so I installed nova launcher... You can't do that on iOS. Don't like lock screen? You can change without root on Android. So on... But at the same time I would keep stock on iOS cause the other stuff doesn't look good in my opinion. (i like stock. That's why I want root for cm 10.1). Ask yourself what you are looking for and ask yourself if you are bored of iOS or bored of Android?
I recommend the DNA because I like the hardware and android, but don't let me pick for you. ^_^ (keep in mind there isn't a root for the DNA right now if you have ota so if it's not out by when you get it, you'll have to pay for jtag or use sense )

What I love about android is that I can change anything I want. If I want to I can:
change the lock screen
add widgets
change launcher
change icons
remove unwanted applications
save email attachments
change file associants (make chrome your default web browser)
ringtone trimmer set any mp3 as a ringer
set any image as a wallpaper
much, much, more..
thats the stuff that sells me.
DNA is awesome fast Quad-core CPU, Adreno 320 GPU, 1080P Display, NFC, Wireless Charging. . . 2GB RAM. Its awesome.
If he wants to tinker with it he will have to wait until the new firmware is unlockable, or he can jtag it.
