Does YouTube suck for anyone else? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

This is just frustrating. Even with a strong wi-fi signal (2 feet from router) it's buffering every two seconds. I can't even pause it and let it build up.
I tried clearing the cache and even the app date but that didn't work.
Attempting to watch YouTube on browsers (Firefox and Dolphin) don't work either, it crashes the browsers every time.
The only way I can watch YouTube really is via remote desktop to my Windows 7 machine.
Anyone else facing this issue?

I dokn't have that issue 20-30 feet away. If I ever had that, I reset my router and discover it was my router's fault.
The one annoying thing is trying to use YT with the keyboard and having to back out to the initial main screen to type in the search field...

Ya man i find that i have to be getting atleast 8mb down for youtube to play without buffering. Which isnt good considering the WiFi problems. I also hate how it has to reload the video if you leave the app!

I can watch anything on my HTC Sensation (custom JB ROM) no problem from the same spot. But on the TF201, it's just b*ll****. So it's not the router. I can't figure out the problem.

Do you have Bluetooth on? As in have a Bluetooth device paired?

Nope, never have bt on.

I figure out a way to watch now. It's using Firefox and switching the user agent to "iPad". :/

?
You shouldn't have to do that.. I've never had any problems using youtube. Are you on a custom rom or kernel and what one are u using?

It's working fine for me now. I guess JB with a factory reset did the trick.

My guess is that it's probably a hardware problem. ASUS has never been a symbol of consistency with their products :S

I am using the YouTube app , no problem for me..

Here is running just great.. No problem at all!!!

It's perfect for me, just like on my desktop. Some update must have fixed it.
And I don't use the YouTube app, I disabled that, I just use it on Firefox like I normally would.

[Q] YouTube Issue?

Hi
I have a problem with YouTube in that it won't play a single video unless I'm connected through Wi-Fi. When outside Wi-Fi using 3G as soon as I click on a video I get a "Connection to server lost. Touch to retry" message appear. The same video will play once I connect to Wi-Fi again.
It's been like it for a while now, but never got round to finding out what's happend to it.
I've currently got Omega v32 XXDLJ5 with a stock kernel, it was exactly the same with previous versions of Omega and when I was using CyanogenMod 9.
Can anyone offer some advice (I've tried searching )
I'm 100% sure that the problem is with your Network and not with the phone.

I did think this at first, but then to test it I turned wifi off and set up S3 as a hotspot and tethered my iPad to it and it played a video clip right away. The GS3 just about had a H+ signal yet it worked..
Anyone else have any ideas what my problem could be..?
Thanks

Wifi Disconnects

I know this has been discussed before, but after hours of searching last night on google, i have come to a standstill.
Has the wifi constant disconnect / reconnect been addressed.
Cheers.
re
looks like i will have to post my own reply.
I have reset the phone, and now it holds my wifi connections and does not disconnect.
Id suggest that if you have the same wifi disconnect and reconnect issues.. try a factory reset.
It connects fine, it just doesn't receive any data. I have tried flashing the stock modules. That didn't seem to help, I"ll keep trying hopefully when an decent AOSP rom appears i'll flash that and it'll correct the problem
Thanks

Is this with all wifi or just at your house, may be your equipment, does another phone have trouble connecting?
re
i just noticed last night something interesting, but not sure if it means anything to anybody else.
I have installed the chrome browser and have been using that for the last few days.
I connected to my home wifi and cruised around the web for an hour with no issues.
I decided to try the stock android browser and it would not load, like the wifi signal was gone.
i went back to my chrome browser and there was no issue loading new web pages.
I went back to my stock browser and reset it back to defaults and bamm it was working like the chrome browser with no hiccups.
Not saying this is a fix.. but it worked for me!

i was having trouble at work and at home.
Tried every wifi/wpa setting/channel/encryption/speed etc.
i have 5 other wifi devices that have no issues.
But after resetting my phone and then running chrome / clearing , resetting my stock browser .. all is good in data land.
edit.. just tested out my work wifi with the stock browser for about 10 min.. not one issue.
I have had success forgetting the Wi-Fi network that is causing issue and then reconnecting.

Youtube stops playing after a while

I have Xperia Mini with custom ICS rom, and I have this problem on every ICS rom I try:
When I play video on youtube, it just stops after a while, and its showing like its loading, but it wont load, no matter how much I wait it...
Anyone else who had this problem and solved it?
EDIT: This also hapens on an Xperia Mini Pro on my friend, also with custom ICS rom.
PLEASE, no responses like Have you tried this, have you tried that, I WANT someone who knows whats going on to help me.
Thanks
I had exactly the same problem on my mini. I tried using tubegod and it worked for some time then that too stopped. Check this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695249
Finally I went to Sony and tested it on their WiFi and it worked there. So it must be a problem in your ISP.

No, its not that, and it isn't happening just on my phone and only on the WI-FI I have home, it's probably something to do with the custom ICS roms

Do you mean to say that youtube works fine on stock ics? If it is not a problem with your wifi devices, then it must be a problem with the router. Just reset your router to default settings and re-configure it. Also, set the channel of wifi between 1-3.
Weird.... it really was my router... here, have my thanks
Actually wait... it happened again.. tried with channels 1, 2 and 3, still stops, any idea if I should set the frequency to be 20/40MHz or to leave it at 20MHz?

Isn't there any option of auto frequency? Because my router has that and it sends mixed signals.
Screw it, if it happens again I will call my ISP and ask them about it

[Q] YouTube connection to server lost

YouTube is not working on my Asus Padfone x not on WiFi nor 3g/4g network
I used to use the stock YouTube with no updates and it worked good until Lately both started giving the same error
I tried clearing cash and even did a factory reset
Is there any way to fix this problem please let us know
And do every Padfone x and s have this problem??
me too
Something I've been battling for a long time, sadly happy to hear I'm not the only one!
For awhile I was able to uninstall the youtube updates and use the stock app without issues. But even that has stopped working now. I have been using "turbo tube" to view youtube videos without any issues though.

Help why do videos keep freezing/buffering

Right this has been the only thing that has bugged me with the mate 20 pro the phone constantly buffers/freezes when trying to watch vids either via twitter or youtube.
I've a fibre connection 38mbps is it huawei's app settings which are causing it?
It's def a WiFi problem as the vids play fine if I turn WiFi off and just use 4g
Any advice

I switched providers at the end of Nov both were fibre on a 38mbps connection and the same thing happens. It's v frustrating and I have no idea what's causing it, Ive been looking at the app options but can't find anything.
I posted a thread on here too recently with exactly the same issues.
It happens on ALL wifi connections. Whether I'm at home, my parents house, work or on public transport.
Always twitter. Not noticed on youtube though.
No fix that I know of.
I also find it usually buffers at about the 7-10 second mark of the video.
