Either it is not sitting properly or it is faulty.
Test it with this first. View attachment h2testw_1.4.zip This can write to the entire card and verify the write.

Ok cheers

I have already tried formatting and restarting the phone and etc. Its still having the same error. I bought both the phone and micro sd card brand new. Its not even a month yet. Whats going on. This is so annoying.

I have the same issue and haven't found the cause of it yet, seems to be SDcard bound. What brand and model do you have?

SanDisk Ultra 32GB Class 10.
My gf is using the same SD Card on her GS3. She has no issue or what so ever.

Anyone out there who know how to fix this? I am going to try another SD card tomorrow and see what happens.

Same problem here started a few days ago. Really annoying .

[Q] "SD Card Unexpectedly Removed" fix?

Hey guys,
Sorry I tried searching but the search seems to be broken at the moment and I didn't see anything after scrolling through many pages.
Recently I've started getting this message alot when I wake the phone. Is there a fix? It usually goes away as the phone sees the card once the screen is up but sometimes it says that the card is corrupted and needs formatting and I need to restart to get it back.
Any tips or fixes I'm not aware of?
Your card is dying. Back up your data from it. I got that message for about a week then the card was unrecognizable.
There are seveal threads from this and other forums about this very problem.

Are you using a Sandisk card? If yes that might be the problem. I have had 2 of them and they did the same thing. I just exchange it to PNY brand

I had the same thing with a brand new Sandisk card. Sent it back to amazon and bought a Samsung card. No more problems.

DAmnit really? Yes I bought a brand new sandisk. Hopefully I can still return to Amazon! Thanks guys.
I agree with the other posters, sandisk cards are junk (& I have 3 sandisk 64 gig cards)
I have now had three sandisk cards burn up on me.
I still use them, but I back them up to my LT religiously.
Got it returned and have a samsung on the way! Thanks everyone!

It doesn't depend on your sd-card. I test it with several sd cards I have, no way.
It's a well known bug, with no fix at moment.
The only workaround - which is working for me - is to keep the wi-fi constantly enabled. Have a try. The sd-card won't unmount.
Else, error doesn't occur if there are not on the sd-card (incl. sd-ext partition) apk's which are running (i.e. widgets, whatsapp & etc).
If you find a fix, SHARE IT
Had the same issue with my S3.
Turned out that the SD card was dying, this caused it to be unmounted by itself and then mounted again (sometimes showing notification “sd card removed unexpectedly”), hence triggering the media scanning process.
I created an application to monitor how many times the SD card was removed, and turned out to be unmounted every ~3 mins!!!
I then bought a new Transcend 32GB Class 10 card (made in Korea), and until now, this never happens, no reports from the application whatsoever, and no media process eating my battery.
I just published this app in the play store now, this is the link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sdcardmonitor
really is Sandisk issue?i faced the same for my Sandisk 32gb class 10,but when using kingmax 32gb class 10 no such issue..if so should consider abt Samsung 32gb class 10 card soon..
I do not believe it's dependant upon the brand. I have the issue with a 32gb class 4 PNY. I notice the problem correlates to the wake lock delay. They may both be associated with the deep sleep issue.

Waiting for a fix? The is no fix other than buy a new SD card. This thread was resolved last year. Lol.
It seems some cards do not play well with this phone. I had this issue with a Lexar 32gb. I now have a sandisk 64gb with no issues.

SD card damaged.. Try reformatting it

Hi guys,*My phone shows SD card is damaged, try reformatting it. It is a transcend class 10 16 gb card. It was fine when I switched it off at night, but at morning it showed this. I tried re inserting, did not work. I was on jelly bean 4.2.1.(I9300XXUFMB3_I9300OJKFMB3_ILO).I wiped the whole thing and installed 4.1.2.(I9300XXEMB5_I9300OXAEMB5_BTU).Still the same. PC also do not recognize external sd card on connecting the phone via cable. About to try to connect via adapter. Should buy one..So guys why did this happen? I dont have any backup of my external sd card so I dont want to reformat it.
well, if the pc doesn't recognize it with the adapter, you'll have to format it
Personally I always format it in the phone, it is what the facility is there for, and remember to always unmount your card before removing, whether it be from phone/pc/card reader, ditto, if connected to pc via mtp/ptp.....Always unmount from the pc

Google the SD formatting tool, download it and format the card. If that doesn't work then the card is toast and you'll need a new one.

Try recuvva (Google it) if that doesn't have any luck there are specialists who might be able to salvage something for you but it's gonna cost mega bucks.
Always backup discs fail or can be lost.

Oh dear, known issue with SanDisk ultra cards, causing them to fail. SanDisk have implemented a fix but are remaining tight lipped about details or when it was implemented so best of luck.

I have heard that they are accepting returns for faulty cards...I hope this is the case because my one has just started being problematic, un mounting every time the screen goes off, really annoyed with them over this

It was your replacement card I was oh dearing at.
Slaphead20, yeah SanDisk are replacing the cards no questions asked. But they are steadfastly ignoring calls for information on when this manufacturing fix was implemented, and replacement cards appear to be the same hardware revision as those that have been failing which doesn't instill confidence.

[Q] 64GB Micro SD card issues

Ok, after buying a cheap and corrupted 64gb micro sd card, I went and spent the money on a 64gb sandisk card. It works just fine. Now, I am rooted and have synergy rom build 104 which is also running fine. I noticed before I flashed the rom that cwm wouldn't recognize my external sd card. I read up on that and found that cwm won't read cards formatted to exfat. So, I formatted the card to fat32 and remounted, transferred all my music back onto the card. Everything worked just fine until I plugged my phone into my computer. I was able to open and navigate through the files like normal, except when I went to open the music folder where all my mp3s were. I tried this on 2 different computers and on both the computer froze with the sand timer. The phone itself was fine, my music player(poweramp) was and is able to play the files with no issue. Also, when I unmounted the card and put it into a card reader and then connected the card reader to my computer and voila! Everything was fine, I was able to open the music folder and scan through the music files. I am not sure what the issue is. Can anyone shed some light as to whether this is a phone/rom issue, a micro sd card issue, an mp3 issue? Any ideas would be appreciated.
That sounds like a bad sd card. Have you ran a checkdisk on it?

If it's a SanDisk 64GB MicroSDXC UHS-1 then they have a replacement program where the older cards had issues in the S3/S4 devices. They sent me a free replacement and everything seems to be working. No Damaged card errors as of yet.

Hm, been searching around for this exact issue. Coworkers S4 with this exact SD card has been getting the removed unexpectedly error. Reformatted a few times, restarted phone, error comes back. It's in my Note 2 at the moment for troubleshooting, and so far so good, but this makes me move more toward an actual SD card issue in combination with the s4, and not the phone itself.

The SanDisk issue only affects the Galaxy S3/S4 as they told me. My other 64gb Sandisk card works just fine in my tablet.

I called them and they are going to exchange it out for me. The weird thing is that I didn't get any damaged card error messages on the phone itself. It mounted it as soon as I popped it in. Even after formatting to fat32, it mounted right away with no issues. It only happened a couple days after I transferred all my music onto it. Is the free replacement they give you a newer card or newer model number?
+1 to the above. SanDisk told me they have a new version of the 64gig card with updated firmware, specifically for the S4. Package tracking shows mine is to be delivered on Monday.

So are all 64GB cards having issues, like other brands? I want a 64 bc my backups are freaking huge and taking up space. And with being rooted how would I transfer everything to the new card without messing up the phone?

So when this card tanks, I have to drop the big money on a card specifically made for this phone. Is this a problem with existing cards or did Samsung do something that required this firmware change?

They told me that too. My guess is it's due to the mass recall of the chips for the S3/S4. They said it's not present in Tablets so my 64GB in my tablet would be fine.
+1 problem with Sandisk 64Gb UH-1 card. Unexpected removal error. I am writing just for statistics. Just got my new Verizon S4 - and have problems...
FYI - I'm having a similar issue with a Samsung 64GD card. Got it to see the music for a while yesterday but after a reboot it can no longer see it.
Update, I received my new card and just popped it in. My phone automatically formatted it to exFAT. I'm not going to try changing it to FAT32, but is there any version or way I can get cwm to recognize the card in exFAT format? I tried TWRP, but when I flashed a rom it soft bricked the phone so I would like to stick with cwm.

SD Card problem

Hey guys,
I have a Verizon S4 ME7 rooted. I keep having an SD card problem. Randomly the SD card will unmount and wont remount. This happened over the weekend then the next day it started working again. I really dont know what the problem is. Has anyone else experienced this? Do you know a fix for this? I have a 16GB SanDisk Ultra HC I.

What format is your SD card formatted in? As far as I know has to be Fat32 on a ME& rooted phone. Also I believe SanDisk had a batch of bad cards not sure if that applies to the 16gb but I know if was effecting the 64gb
Its fat32 and ive had this SD card in my s3 over a year ago with no problems. I dont want to buy another card if the phone is frying them.

Sounds like buying a new SD card is a good idea. You can't say it's frying SD cards when you're having problems with a single SD card which you've had for a year+.

Reason i said that is because ive seen multiple threads on different forums reporting the same problem. Has noone here had the problem? Should i get a Samsung SD card if it is the problem?

Replacement of GPS sd card reader

I believe my built in GPS sd card reader is dying as I get a lot of random "storage unexpectedly removed" notices. Has anyone had the same issue and been able to repair the connection?
Is it possible to reroute the GPS with the other SD slot to perform ROM flashes and the like?
Thanks,
Hans

I had that with a cheap microsd card. Maybe your card is dying? I swapped mine with a 32gb SanDisk and it hasn't done it since. Hope that helps!

I'll try a newer card in it, however I was simply able to use the other cad reader on my device.
Thanks.
