Never porting android on wave 2 s8530 Why ?????? - Android Development on Bada

Never porting android on wave 2 s8530 bcz not done to lcd driver all developer stop the porting wave 2 why?????????????????
i am very sad :crying::crying:

I think (but this is just my opinion) that you are one of the reasons 'cause developers slow down with porting.
People asking everytime for ETA, make this working, customize it this way, add this, remove that..
They are human, what do you think can be the reason why developer have not yet release LCD driver for Wave 2? its not easy as copy-paste 4 files, as users are used to do. If you want something, be helpful. In this moment you, and this whole thread, are useless.

Rebello's lcd driver is complete on wave 2??
i don't understand
on this page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459391

Rebello's
Oleg has finally got S8530 in his hands, so he is able to work on both devices.
We've got S8530 version almost the same operatible as S8500 - SCLCD driver has been done by Oleg at 12 Feb 2012!

Yep, though it was for older kernel, and I'm too dumb and lazy to port LCD driver into 3.0+ kernel.

i clear all doubts thank you very much
thanks for reply
I hop you and all developers is done to wave2 lcd driver
sorry for my English Google translate

So a Gingerbread/Froyo port would work on S8530.
Would it be possible to boot into Froyo S8500 with S8530 with LCD drivers ?
If not can anyone with enough skills and potential can make a Rom like this ?
It would be at least the "first" open android port for S8530.

Why Not.I think that it is possible

well actually no.. even if its ported then it would be the same buggy froyo that we had a year ago because the kernel is changed not the android version these 2 are different things...

All Developers forget in wave 2 user why??????????:crying::crying::crying:
LCD driver when come????

Why crying like an baby...
Display Driver is HARD task...
""MODEM Driver"" is much HARDER
S8500 user have more luck, because oleg_k were smart enough...
Now oleg_k left this "project"...
Also other talented Devs left this project...
Thats life...
Some things never finished "soon" or ever...

False!
Android can be ported to wave II we need just some one to adapt Oleg's driver to be compatible wirh kernel version 3
All the roms released are working for wave 2 the problem is there is no image.

Yea I know that and can u do that work ?? Can u fix the problem ?? No.. And Why the developers are not willing to look on the LCD driver ? It is because of lack of interest ..and that's why I posted as "for time being" ..I never said we cant port..

I don't know if it can be useful (maybe can we use this driver?), but i found a device with sc-lcd display (Galaxy SL i9003).
In this forum I found some good news (maybe) about this device with custom roms (like aokp)

Yeah, it's hillarious to see how most of people spell English here!
I'm also a non-native English speaker, but men, there are a lot of messages that look like if they were written by Great Indian Chief after drinking a barrel of vodka or so :laugh:
Back again to Wave II: I'm not affected because my phone is a Wave I, but after seeing Trigrouzen, who owns an S8530, has started asking for donations to buy a Wave I, I would lose more hope to see a driver working. He looks like actually being the only active developer; he owns an S8530 and probably would be the best person to make its driver work, but instead he chooses to buy the already working device to speed up development...

We Want Android

But everybody have overreacted. Ofc you have some work to do in priority but terminating the project was not everybody's goal... So I am sure of that everybody want you to continue this project. And even I didn't i am sorry for "cool sarcastic guys".
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12595261&postcount=2
Please read this post from 2. April 2011.
We can learn together... but this takes time.
Many time. Months, maybe years...

1.
Android port needs extreme deep knowledge...
2.
Also you need time...
Result is.
Few of the Developers from this project now high skilled in Reversing Bootloader, FOTA, Hardware etc.
They are now much smarter then before.
Maybe 1 day in future project will continue...
Again.
This project is HARDEST task.
Project reached bottleneck and stopped now... temporary... like other Android ports before... many other ports never reached 100 % ... after few months...
Maybe finished in 2012, 2013 or maybe never.
Who knows.
Expect not to much.
If you need Android now, then buy Android handset now...
Porting is Education... And Education can take years.
Best Regards
after that time no one will need Android on Wave i think I know this is so hard. But after that far i think giving up is a bad thing. Why? Bc sarcastic morons? Who cares of them. They are just "trying to be badass or entertaining themselves like that ways". I m a student in high school. And in my country high schools are so much harder than other countries. Ne demek istediğini tam anlamadım ama anladığım kadarıyla söyleyim. Badadroid projesinin alpha versiyonu bile galaxy ace teki androidden daha stabil ve hızlıydı. Yani gayet de uygundur...
Btw even the alpha version of badadroid (or whatever its name is ) was so much faster than galaxy ace. So i think Android in Wave would be seem much better than Ace...

Excatly, dual boot is good alternative way to use android on bada, but i cannot dare to build it on my phone
Two reasons for me to speak English; First one is, it's been looong time for me to speak in English with someone. So this is a good chance for me to make practice ^^
The second reasons is, we may get banned from here because of speaking with other language. Rules are rule !! =D
Hop hop hop, I'll point out that there's a great deal of people here in France who would love to see Android on their samsung waves...
I think the work that has been done is fantastic - Really fantastic work and much much further than for some other handsets. I'm convinced that the key to the problem is finding an android handset with the same modem chip. Surely samsung didn't go to the effort of creating a modem chip specifically for the WAVE & WAVE 2
Lets go looking shall we ?

But if somebody try it i will too And about the practice thing so am i But it's just ridiculous to speak english with a person who is from my country

We are lucky enough to have a wonderful dev who provides us with ALMOST perfect ICS ROM:

What holds us back from having it REALLY perfect is a lack of arm6 drivers.
That´s why people already have raised their voices in these threads:

It`s only a word from a guy who monitors forums, he only asked us for patience, because the decision-making will take place somewhere else. You see, IF they decide to release it, they won`t pull it out of the pocket, somebody who is paid for his work would have to work on it, their devs are not hobbiests like here on xda.
So IF they decide positively, it will take some time. In case of arm7 it was like 3 months. Whish I was wrong.
is their any positive reply from qualcomm side ???

It has been tested with the CAF release M8960AAAAANLYA1030. Supports any Adreno 2xx GPU on Android ICS using the ARMv6 chipset (7x27). Google's libRS (LLVM) does not currently support ARMv6.

Welcome to the club! I also got a Galaxy S Advance i9070 some weeks ago, which to me is like somewhat an "updated Wave": a bit bigger screen size but same resolution, same superAmoled, some more memory and a dual-core processor but same camera resolution (for pictures and video); also its lighter but at the same time feels cheaper because of the plastic case... I somehow miss my Wave because of the alluminium case (I accidentally threw it to the floor several times and it's still alive! feel like this new one won't resist that much!) and because the pixel density made the Wave screen look better to my taste, and it can fit the same contents in less space, and overall it fits better to my small hands :silly:...
...so I didn't rid off of my old Wave and I expect to continue using it for testing and who knows - maybe if a modem working Badadroid finally comes out maybe I would ever take it back again for normal use.
Anyway, an official Jelly Bean update is announced by Samsung to be available before the end of the year.
PS: also, as far as I know all the moddem roms for i9070 like the one linked by hero355 ara still kernel 2.3.6 based, so they are of no use for me. I probably will stick to the official firmware until a real version update.

yes, but they dont combinate the roms!!
sure i want a working flash light, but i dont want to have a rom that has painfull lag (non of those has, but for heavy games it has lagg, like mc3. it works only with chainfire 3d at fire v1, otherwise too much lagg).
so it will be better if they combinate them AND make different roms.
so its actually the same rom specs, but other builds like MIUI, AOKP, CYANOGEN

only thing what i want (maybe others too) is that if they work togheter on 1 rom, the desteny will be seen earlier

the only complete tree is cm-10.1 by unjust. however he did a blind update for cm11, but that needs a lot of reworking :|
and as for the patches, you can see my post in the other thread.. :s

samsung doesn't want people to make custom roms.. if their 1 year old Galaxy Star 4.1.2 is running a smooth and stable 4.4.4, who the hell is gonna buy their new Galaxy Sh!t 4.4.4 with their new and improved Touchwiz?

it's of no use, they will just ignore it.. just take exynos for example :|
nope not that i know of.. samdung only releases source for kernel, cause that's what they need to release anyway..
the source was released by broadcom for their gpu videocore iv for raspberry pi, which iirc turned out to be not so helpful for galaxy y..
looking at the gerrit review of androidarmv6.. it looks like they are modifying sources to work with proprietary blobs and modifying other sources to work with the device.. and that's for audio, gpu etc...
those, work in this device.. camera can be fixed on further looking.. the HAL was working but crash is due to some memory heap error..
the only problem is of ril.. and i already have said about ril in other thread
Done

I dont think samsung cares about releasing source other than kernel which is why this friday I'm buying Moto G and leaving Samsung for good. You guys should do the same since samsung wont care and keep making bull**** phones.

Only because they *must*, unless they only want to sell their phones where copyright does not exsist. They are not by required by the apache license to give the source. Just take a look what they did and are doing with the exynos.
I don't know what the f**k is samsung doing, they could have just updated this old device, but no they release new ones with basically just a little hardware improvement which could have been done firstly in the old one. :|
Speaking about hardware the sc8810 board used this device can handle 640x480 resolution and 1gb of ram just fine. And the new star ii they are going to release is supposed to use sc8815 board which can handle 800x480 resolution.
But no, they have to cripple it down to no good and make people think spredtum is ****ty. though not good as the big games out there. spreadtrum makes considerable SoC for the price it is offered.
And you can find far better spec'd spreadtrum devices produced by other companies. But many people won't even look at those devies and buy the crippled samsung ones, cause it's samusung duh. >_>
And oh, they also say, the 1gb galaxy s3 is not able to handle kitkat. and here people get kitkat running on 3 year old armv6 device with 290mb of ram :3
Good, thing my star broke, i wanted to throw it anyway. =|
By the way welcome back. and thanks for contributing to this device. if it was not for you and others this device wouldn't even imagine of making a place in xda.
And have fun with your new Moto G =)

hmm waiting for mine to break. But ill have to break it with perfect timing to get a new mobile.
And they released 4 new phones just when better mobiles were crushing the market. The biggest noobs here might be better than samsung at such things. Uhhh!
Well this 1 was the gud 1(At its price) when i bought it so really cant complain on the better mobiles but if they just paid a bit of attention on this phone No-one wud be mad

ril would have worked without source if they had not modified the API too much, the audio, hwc and others work pretty well..
if star 2 will use standard api, there is a chance it can be portred for star, too.. as the board is similar
anways, this device has no developer for now, at least a bootable build of cm11 could be made if any one was working on it :3
welcome back bro
i checked with the htc devs but to no avail none of them are ready to touch a stupid samsung device(u can see why)
@superuser tried to help but naa it dint work out.
and are u gonna develop 4 dis device?
and ur star broke?
so darn lucky:laugh:

[Discussion] State of the Grand 2 - What we were and what are we now

A little about myself and the ethos I have to talk
I am Waseem Alkurdi, developer and owner of a Grand 2 since July 2014, and one of the earliest contributors to the community (Does anybody remember The Ultimate S5 Mod or MicroKat?).
I have a little mission to complete before taking my Grand 2 out of active service as a daily driver (NOT GOING TO DESERT IT THOUGH, EVER) which is building every next Android version from AOSP/CM (Lineage) sources (starting from Android O until the last version of Android that boots on 1.5 GB of RAM) and porting something significant to this beaut (I'm talking about OEM ROMs, but tips are welcome!)
What the Grand 2 was one day
The Grand 2 was the utopia of an Android device community turned real.
The community was rolling out ROM after ROM, mod after mod, and everybody was excited ...
First, @balliboxer rolled out the first TouchWiz (Android 4.3-based) rooted ROM for the device, and that was May 2014 if I remember. It was the first victory for the community, as everybody thought that the device could never see root because of the Qualcomm SecureBoot technology, which apparently got everybody thinking about a locked bootloader, which was not the case. (If anybody has a Grand 2 on 4.3, boot into Download Mode and you'll see what I mean: QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLED in blue letters).
Then came the official KitKat update: Of the most important changes was that the dreaded QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT:ENABLED line was replaced with a red UDC:START in red letters). Does that mean that technology was disabled? Only God knows.
With the KitKat update came GenNxt, another ROM by @balliboxer, and one of my first projects, the Ultimate S5 Mod. The mod exploited the S5 code hidden under the stock ROM to "transform" the device into an S5 look-alike.
But my mod has lost the limelight when @balliboxer and @aapav01 came out with the S5 mini port ROM. The ROM was not a lookalike, it was the real deal, and was a hit to Samsung itself and their corporate policy of not updating the UI design of older devices.
Then came the 4.4.4 port from the S3 Neo, another device with the same SoC as the Grand 2. It hadn't received much attention though, as the S5 mini port took it all.
At about the same time, I released MicroKat, a barebones ROM based on stock. It has received some attention from people whom I call "purists", those who like everything pure without the garbage that sticks to stuff at times, and from people who wanted the most performance of their devices.
Later on, a stream of ROMs came: A bombshell of 4.4.4 CyanogenMod 11, CyanognenMod 12 by @mukulsoni, another S5 mini port, this time using Lollipop TouchWiz, and CyanogenMod 13, and later, 14, by @adityaupreti, ResurrectionRemix M by @buggatty, and some Nougat ROMs by @SoUnd001, among more. With each ROM came a surprise.
Where the Grand 2 stands today
We, folks, have passed the climax of the story of our Grand 2. Way long ago, to be honest. We have hit the climax in those ol' times when the team of contributors ported ROM after ROM, when Android Lollipop from source was nothing to this community, and when the Lollipop port from the S5 Mini was being downloaded like nothing the Internet has ever seen
Folks, this device is officially dead.
But is the Snapdragon 400 SoC archaically old?
Heck, no!
Is 1.5 GB of RAM dead?
Heck, no!
What killed the Grand 2 is nothing but the childish bickering of the community.
Yep, the whole community, myself included.
When the same generous developers of our community and all of XDA turn into selfish, egoistic bullies, because of their impatience with some kids, yeah, kids, babies, children who have not been taught respect by their families, who are equally rude, that's what we get, the current state of the Grand 2.
I am not referring to one incident, but to a collective of incidents.
What is supposed to happen
Quite nothing could be done.
Well, quite nothing could be done to a community which has brought itself down.
Speaking for myself, I will aim at my goals, listed above, no matter what. But for other developers, all of which are of higher order than I am, please give this community a second chance.
I have a word for them (especially @adityaupret i
The Grand 2 community is at risk of collapsing prematurely. One hand cannot clap, as we Arabs say. However, all of our hands can work together for the prosperity of the community. Do you want to save this community?

Another one!
SoUnd001 is still active as he said earlier(but he deleted his recent TW MM port so i rather doubt it), i am trying to make MIUI 8. Another friend of mine is working on FlymeOS.
Other than that there are no projects/devs active. If i succeed with MIUI & my friend also succeed with FlymeOS then we will work on more projects and try to keep the developement alive.
Are you also working on any project???

@WaseemAlkurdi bro Glad to see you after long Time.... i dont know whether u remember me or not but i remember u from the effort u took for CM11....
We still expecting u to return to development..... Aditya Upreti will be always be helpful for our Device as my knowledge is concerned...(may be its false) .....
Once upon a time balliboxer ruled Grand 2 and then aapav ruled and then aditya ruled and now its dethroned... its set as free for someone whom we r waiting to enthrone to rule Grand 2 Developments back....

First, I do remember you ... It's indeed a pleasure to hear from you after all that time ...
Well, as far as I could see, Aditya and @SoUnd001 have announced that they'll desert the Grand 2 (on the ResurrectionRemix Nougat thread), with threats of using the moderators for "policing" of the community, effectively installing (politically not technically here) themselves as absolute monarchs, waving their device trees, as if it was only them who had the intelligence and skill of learning the craft ...
But they are indeed justified and I do agree with them, as some users are indeed rude ...
Have they stepped back from their decision?
I hope they do.
Edit: RR Nougat is back online.

It is great to know that there's some hope left ... Wish you and your friends the best of luck!
@SoUnd001, as it seems, is out of the scene for the time being.
As for myself, I am a Grade 12 student, and I have halted almost all electronic activity until I finish my secondary education exams (like the IGCSE, but my country's flavor).
However, I intend to start building a multitude of ROMs (mostly AOSP-based) from source starting June-July 2017.
Well G2 was having some Awesome Roms and Ports !
When Aapav ported TW LL from S5 Mini then Whole G2 Development loved that ROM.....all were crazy abt it ! As Samsung left G2 to die alone !
But after some time Aapav left G2 becoz of people ! And then Aditya and Sound were left on G2....They made cool rom to make G2 Live more ! Aditya Booted first Android N Rom on G2 and TW MM on G2 ! And then Aditya and Sound both made RR N....but again people spam bug bug bug.....NO Voice...how can I use...and soo on ! Soo they both decided to left Development ! But after a While....more longer....They came back with First ALPHA Release of TW MM.....And it was srsly the Best rom for G2 as it was TW MM which Samsung would never even thought that it will be Booted ! But due to some problems the Thread was closed.....but still I can hope that Aditya and Sound will again Release TW MM if they think that It is Fully STABLE to get it Released !
G2 lived a Very long Life !
And we shld thank all the Developers for that....Just Thank them not Spam them !
Regards @bravoInc
Can anybody please tell me what "skills" I require if I'm to start with this so called "Android Development"? (building thingies from source). It'd be really helpful.
great

Generally, you will need:
A computer running Linux, preferably Ubuntu
Knowledge on Linux (just some terminal-friendliness, no need for really deep knowledge)
Knowledge about Android; pretend to be a doctor or your ol' mechanic and carefully dissect the stock ROM or any other ROM to get that)
Lack of terminalphobia is absolutely essential, as the whole Android build process is in the terminal.
Debugging interfaces shipped with Android (logcat, dmesg, and the whole lot)
Being generally tech-savvy (not running to others for help, but learning by trial and error, knowing how to wisely use Google, and knowing how to multiboot Windows, Linux, and Mac OS is generally proof of that)
Edit: Forgot a knowledge of a) programming (recommended, not obligatory) and b) Git and source control.
Worse news guys. SoUnd001 left Grand 2 & moved on to J5 developement. He even deleted his device tree. He and aditya got some problems thats why he left
So in my opinion we must setup a device tree if developement has to be continued. @Hammerhead2502 @WaseemAlkurdi & all other people willing to join hands to keep the developement alive please do something :'(

For me, and once again, I will be fully dedicated as of Jun.-Jul. 2017, not a day before that.
And although what SoUnd001 did of removal of trees was rude and unethical in open-source community terms, it is totally his right as his own effort and mental work. Being his right though, does not justify the action, and again, he is not the only one with the mental ability and skill needed to start building Android.

Yes i agree he has rights to delete and all. I don't blame him. But as usual Grand 2's developement is the one to bare the consequences of aditya & SoUnd's fight.
So in my opinion the first step should be setting up a device tree.
