Yes, after .28 tried the first time and found a wrong build.prop there was never another ota opportunity. you were logged and rejected. However, the download you referenced will work no problem.

Yeah i'm totally not stock, waiting for the update.zip to see about this bootloader, but this is a frequent problem people run into out of haste of not being prepared

Thanks, I'd forgotten I'd disabled the stock browser, update failed. Guess I have to wait. :/

Would it really kill them to post the update to their site when they release it to OTA? Minor league Asus, as usual.

Noob questions - can you please provide more explanation or steps? Mine is rooted and upgrade failed with Andy. What do you mean by apps are frozen?

Mine tried to update and failed ( I forgot to unroot prior so I am hoping that is what it was since nothing else was changed ). After it failed I unrooted and tried to update again but now it is saying there is no update.

Ha. That's fair. I've been treated so crappy by Asus since I bought this device in December that I give them ZERO benefit of the doubt.

How do you install the stock firmware after it is posted on there site if you are not unlocked?

Some people had been suffering for 10 months because a POS company ASUS can't make a product right. THey charge us 500 dollars for the crappiest product in the history of electronics. Now they can't even make a right OTA? I would love to see a company like this go out of business. There should be class action lawsuit against asus. I really hope asus goes bankrupt and saves future customers from this misery.

This is a good question. I checked out their site in preparation for when they post the update. Not shockingly, there are "instructions" of how to install the update, except the "instructions" don't actually tell you how to do it! What crap. To prove my point, here are their "instructions" for the last firmware update. It looks like the steps to install the update stop after telling you how to check your current version. Thanks, Asus!
Steps of Update:
1. Check SW version of your Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201*
2. Download Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201 Firmware: V9.4.2.28 Only for WW SKU and Update version of SOP (From “Manual” Item)
※Firmware update cannot do *SKU conversion* and downgrade version.
Wrong SKU may cause update failure, You can only update your SW version on the Same SKU
*How to check SW version of your Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201?
Path: [Settings]-->[About tablet]-->Build number
Example: You should be able to see the build number WW_epad-9.X.X.X_2012xxxx, where “WW” means SKU.

The OTA has been rolling out for all of 12 hrs at best. They are required to release SOURCE CODE not an update file. I had the update failed to download message and it has since downloaded. As it turns out a lot of people were trying to download at the same time. Weird I know.

Or maybe, just to put a sinister take on things, they are going to use peoples OTA experiences as guinea pigs to see if they've got it right this time, unlike previous versions they have put on their site that don't work properly LOL :fingers-crossed:

For all having the failed attempt at OTA update this is what I did to fix it.
I did 1 hard reset (Turn off prime, remove charger, hold down volume key and then power on to do a cold/hard reset, followed by going to application manager and clearing cache for "DMClien" and then I checked for update and it downloaded successfully.
It worked for me.

edit: oh no, it only downloaded! got the red andy
edit 2: Did some digging. You can find the file "last_log" in /cache/recovery and it can give you an idea of what went wrong. In my install, it aborted because keyboard.apk was modified (keyboard multi-browser mod in dev section). just restored this, will see if i can force the update again.
...
was able to force the update again by copying dlpkgfile and the echo command. it's updating now

3 hours after my first try and I'm finally on Jelly bean!!!

The dlpkgfile is posted by another user in that thread. I downloaded it and followed the method posted. All went perfectly.

Why do the users have to go through so much trouble just to get an OTA to work? Why? Asus, I hope you burn in hell. The schittiest company to have existed on planet. Can they not do one thing right? I mean so much trouble and hacking just to get an OTA to work? F U asus. All the engineers involved in Prime and this project should be stoned to death.

who knows until we actually get the device in our hands. And we won't have it long enough to really tell a difference. Plus from what I understand the issues with WiFi was hardware related. The only people who will know are the reviewers. That said them releasing the update now makes me feel like yesterday was really supposed to be the launch which coincides with a lot of the early information.
I remember some reviewers mentioning that an update was pushed that improves performance and battery life. Maybe this is it...
Was posted already in this thread, an hour before this one.

I'm surprised they didn't release it earlier. It'll free them up of people making anymore warranty claims on bad hardware. That's what scares me a bit. I'll wait until ROMs show up first. So far, no hardware issues for me.

im interested in a way around it too. similar thing happened on epic 4g touch. unlocking the bootloader caused a counter to be set off and an ugly triangled appeared in the boot splash (proving unlocker was used). but after a while, they figured out how to do it without the phone recording it was unlocked. i want this for the prime, in case i ever have to send it in

@strechwookie - since they are using only a few SBKs for all Transformers I think the SBKs will soon be read from the tool so you can unlock without it.
Could be like the Atrix too, when unlocking it's bootloader you permantly burn a fuse... so while you may be able to "hide" the unlock on the boot screen by returning to stock, a savvy RMA tech could still tell if you had originally unlocked the bootloader.
Sent from my CM7 Atrix 4G
I rather think they are going the HTC way. This tool won't be some kind of *.exe you'll download but a webinterface.
You enter your serialnumber and it generates an unlock code based on the serial number.
This was ASUS will always know if you used their tool or not.
The only chance for us getting away with warranty is to write some kind of keygen which does the same as ASUS' tool.
If they are doing it right this won't be possible.
Of course someone could always try to hack the bootloader AlphaRevX style, but i guess not many would be brave & experienced enough to try that.
normally, and with every other device i have owned i have not hesitated to unlock bootloader and void warranty as i have been confident in its build quality, but with this, not so sure. I have already returned one for the reboot issue, an the current one i have has some kind of screen touch issue where when i touch the screen it creates a sort of watery thing under where i touch- only in one particular area of the screen, and there is a part under that which is too white... hard to explain , but long story longer, i dont trust Asus' build quality to void my warranty totally.
I still believe it should be like the nexus'- why should rooting automatically void ALL warranty? If they stuff up the screen, battery, chip etc how would me running a custom rom affect that (assuming it hasnt- eg. OC to extremes etc)...
so i will be RMAing my prime before unlocking and then i will think about it long and hard and hope for someone to come up with an unofficial way to unlock... plus Asus will probably screw us over like HTC did with their pseudo unlock...

[Q] ICS Update in Canada

I hate to add another country to the list, but do any Sony Tablet S owners in Canada have the update yet? I have been restarting and hitting the update button for the last two days and still nothing. I know they said Japan and US were suppose to get it in the next two days and Europe in a couple weeks (that's what I heard), but what about Canada? Do we full under to US umbrella?
no updates in Alberta so far.....
i remember seeing someone saying that Canada wont be getting the update until May 3rd, in one of the posts in "How many user have received ICS update" topic
yea sony said may 3rd : ( that sucks....
May 3rd for Canada? Where did they say that?
Sent from my Sony Tablet S using XDA Premium HD app
Still nothing for Canada
Guess im not the only one not getting the update.....
One more week
I'm in Newfoundland and didn't get it. I got a little frustrated and used Condi's tool to change my region to the US and then just get the OTA update. It worked flawlessly and immediately!!
My recommendation: You guys do it too! The ICS update for the Tablet S is the greatest update I've ever seen a piece of electronics receive. Everything runs WAY better, the new features are fantastic, my battery life is (strangely) much better, the keyboard input issues are totally fixed, and then you can get google chrome as well.
I nearly bought a new tablet every weekend, but this update totally saved it. I'm now a reborn sony fan and will definitely wait to get their next tab now.
...Now if you'll excuse me I have to go THANK every post Condi has ever made lol. Stop praying for that UPDATE SYSTEM button to work and just go the root method

Unfortunately it's still the same catalog of games there lol. I wish the entire selection that's on PSN was there but oh well
I just talked with Sony Support today and asked when ICS would get released for the Canadian Tablet S. They told me May 10th (I guess the same as Europe). Anyone know why they would release it so much later for the rest of the world than for US and Japan? I can only hope our update will have all the bugs worked out from the US release lol
@MarkB: Did you lose root after you did the upgrade?
Has anybody in Canada done the rooted ICS steps on the AiO post? What have your results been?
I just finally got root, so I'm a little bit gunshy on updates yet.
Thanks!

Yes you WILL lose root when doing the ota update for US region. I only rooted to change the region to get the update tho, so no 'loss' for me.
I'd say someone will eventually figure out how to root the ICS rom anyways, so no big dealo
Thanks MarkB. Still considering setting up the AiO Rooted ICS, or saving that until the Canadian update is released.
I used to follow the PSP Hacking scene, and when a hack was opened for a previous version, the rule was to ALWAYS wait for a hacked update. I think Sony spends more time locking its software down than developing new stuff...
Good to hear that we have something to look forward to!

I couldn't wait... I knew sony said "the end of april" for the release date, so I was getting off work and nailing that System update button every 20 mins for the past week. I'm just way too impatient and couldn't wait any longer haha.
Anyways, Tegra 3 with a 1280x800 screen and 1GB of RAM isn't evnough of a boost to upgrade now. The next thing to get excited for is to see what Sony's next tablet is going to be like... and I believe we'll be seeing it soon enough
Is content on the stores locked by the device? In other words do you currently see movies and such that other Canadian tablets don't see?

Everything seems to be exactly the same concerning market content.
a second tech from sony told me the release for Canada would be this week.

Finland - JB Update Heads Up Thread

Nothing as of yet until now (12.40 PM, 27.09) and I keep checking sporadically....
Has anyone else had the update yet, here in Finland? Or if anyone sees it come out, please do drop in a word to give a heads up.
Thanks in advance. Cheers...
Edit: PS., I understand its probably not necessary to have another JB thread.. but its just a bit difficult to pick out any news / info regarding the update roll-out in Finland specifically from the other bigger threads.
Nothing here

Not sure is a yet another JB-thread necessary.
Anyway, nothing here too.
Nothing here in Slovenia and Norway either. So I am guessing none of the WW-devices has gotten it yet. We will just have to be patient and hope it won't take too many hours of biting nails while waiting.
Why dont you read the other topics? JB is only for sweden and USA right now. it will pop up in the next days for other countries (asus words not mine!) i hope soon tho!

Well, from what I saw from the other thread where this 'option' was mentioned, I understood that this is for people who have the TF201 from US but who are now physically outside of the US!!!
Meanwhile, I think the update will roll out here in Finland possibly tomorrow (28 Sep)...
Edit: Called up Asus Finland and I was told it hasn't been released here yet. When I pressed on about when it would be released, the guy said "I have to ask Google because they are releasing the Jelly Bean update...." what the...? Anyway, so... it's not here yet. Guess we just have to wait.
So asus sweden finally woke up and had posted that some users could be getting the update already now (although I have not seen any such reports), while some might have to wait for a full week .
Seems like pretty much all the american users have gotten the update by now though, so for them it went pretty fast, so I think it seems strange if they are going to spend a week gradually rolling it out here.
I'm going to Sauna with my Sandels, check again later!:good:
We really don't need another JB thread...

The same with the Huawei watch. The only 2 watches with a speaker and seemly the last 2 that will get updated.
I have been keeping up on the various watches and lots of the others are getting OTAs already. I am not sure if they are waiting for the big CES event to announce Speaker Support or wait for a new gen of watches to be released. Kind of weird. Something is going on behind closed doors.
Or, since these are the only ones to have speakers they may still be working out the bugs in the audio.
Shouldnt this be done by google?

Pretty sure it's the same method as Phones, Minus carrier alterations. Asus must still apply drivers and such. Could be wrong, but it seems the most likely. Having google develop drivers for all the different watches is madness
I thought Google restricted the wear system much more than the smartphones....
They did. Notice how no one puts their ****ty UI on top of google's?

WHAT? Are you sure? This would be the first time I've heard the Zenwatch 2 getting the update. Also for anybody else reading this, capture the OTA URL via adb logcat or debug dump in the Android Wear application!
