[Q] ICS ,,, - HTC Amaze 4G

i have amaze 4g and i like it so much ,, i am so far from using new techs so i didnt update my phone to ICS till now even it's available because many people said it's not stable and there is a lot of trouble with the new ICS (wifi,,,, ) and i am not into losing time and trying to fix trouble so i just didn't update my device and still using android 2 so my question : after many months from the released of ICS it is still a lot of trouble with it ?? is it stable now ??? plz anyone answer me because if there is a lot to do for fix the problems i prefer to stay on android 2 because everything working just great,,, so any advice plzzz

I haven't had any problems with my WiFi after the ICS OTA Update. I think what most people had problems with is flashing ICS ROMs and Kernels.

I think it was the leaks they were referring to.

Flashing = installing
Kernel = the brains of your phone
That's about as laymen as it gets. I know you're probably ok with what you have and all, but if you have an older android phone lying around or are getting ready for an upgrade, take a look at rooting and custom roms (os's). They will make your phone like a new device. A lot of people upgrade phones to get features already available for their phone if it's rooted.

sir what do u mean about the leak ??

The update for ics was leaked before it was released over the air. There were a few issues with it because it wasn't the final release.

What is CF-Root?

I'm a very new user of Android. I know only ROM, Stock ROM, Custom ROM, KIES & some must known things.
However I found many are discussing about CF-Root.I don't know what this thing is. But I do know about Rooting & I know it can be done by Z4Root & SuperUserOneClick.

Hey!
No worries man. If you FLASHED ROM is working well, then why you want to FLASH 2.3.3? Of course 2.3.3 is OFFICIAL RELEASE and there is several BUG fix-s. But if you dont see problems, you can stay FREELY in 2.3.4.
Of course, finally its you choice, what to do.

How to find out!

Alright I'm sorry if this has been posted before which I'm sure it has. But I am currently trying to figure out what base-band I need? New or old? I use some of the new roms out there and realized that i have almost no service at all! Sometimes i can get out a text and sometimes i can't. Not sure if this even has anything to do with base-band. I know that when I go back to stock i can send and receive text so any help or info would be great thanks
Anyone please?

02 uk ics? when ?

before any of you start saying use the search function or other whitty comments, i have searched around and have found nothing
so, is there a date for when ics will come to my sgs2 on o2 uk network ?
Since O2 will add some of their own apps it really depends on how long it takes them. You can flash a official build via odin then flash your regions CSC so you can still use Kies.
thank you for your reply
My phone was branded o2. I've debranded it to international software and now waiting for the ICS XEU update

ICS kernel from newest ICS en.EU leak. Remember, when you flash it, there's no way back to GB kernel.

Shouldn't the chinese leak boot.img be better as it will allow people to downgrade back to gb when the official ota comes out? I think the usb mass storage issue is kernel related but it seems a lot safer to use than the tmobile one.
A bit off topic, but my younger brother has info that a friend of his picked up a razr from Rogers and it came with ICS installed already. I'm treating it lightly as i've asked him to snap a few pics of the system info and the phone generally so hopefully he can get that soon. If it's true, we may as well wait it out as we could have CM9 support after the official ota is released shortly.

oops clicked thanks not quote...
Anyways
Its due to the CID being wiped not the kernel.

I'm trying to extend my battery life. I read fast dormancy can extend my battery life significantly, but it depends on my device and mobile network provider.
Should i remove it? any one has tried it and can give me some feedback?

Create your own thread. it is a compkletely different problem. also, it has been answered in cm10.1's thread. in the last few pages, i think @palmbeach05 has covered this and other issues.
As for OP: AFAIK, fastdormancy comes preinstalled, depends upon your carrier and it automatically start to work whenever it detects your carrier supports it. but in my experience, i got better results removing it than wit it enablesd maybe due to the alpha nature of the kernel

All kernels nowadays are 3.1.10. This is, has been, and will be until officially upgraded, an Alpha stage kernel. This means that there are major bugs present. Are there kernels out there that are stable enough at this stage? Yes. Most are within the individual ROM threads, others are in krystian's dropbox.
There are 2 versions of ICS that are popular amongst A4G users, AtrICS v 2.0 and CM9. Which one are you trying to use?

ALWAYS make a backup prior to any test modifications. That way if removing fastdormancy makes things worse for you, you have something to fall back on without having to go through the hassle of reflashing the entire ROM.

I used it for a while, then I got back to AtrICS. As @palmbeach05 said, always do a nandroid backup before messing with anything system related.

Ok and you're experiencing a problem everyone has had or still has. Stop complaining or start developing a fix. Can't develop? Don't complain. Simple as that. Besides that, I mentioned it before, but I will reiterate the point again. THE 3.1.10 KERNEL IS AN ALPHA STAGE KERNEL. ALL ROMS RUNNING A 3.1.10 KERNEL BECOME ALPHA STAGE ROMS AS WELL. ALL LOWER REVISION KERNELS ON ANY 4.0 AND UP ROM WILL PROVIDE ISSUES AS WELL. This is pretty much a deal with what we, the devs of xda, can provide to you and other users, or move onto a new ROM or a new device.
