Phone call with VZW - Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE

As many of you know I have been emailing, calling and doing everything I leagally can to get some information about the bootloader being locked. Whlie my methods have be overbearing and as times obscure I would like to report some news. While talking to VZW rep Scott H. I was offered the warenty replacement device of my choosing including battery and cover. He gave me a few days to think it over. I called him today to accept his offer and get a Rezound my second choice phone. While talking to him before the call ended he asked if there was anything elese he could do? I said unless you are able to tell me why the boot loader is locked on my phone there is nothing else. He said "You have recived our letter and stance in a letter" heard that before. But, then he said "as the letter states we required by the FCC to prevent" mumbles " Thank you have a nice day" The letter doesnt say anthing about the FCC.

Rezound is my choice, NilsP create ROMS that I have come to like since the Samsung Omni days. I was planning on the Rezound because that is what Nils has and was deveolping for. This is still the phone to have if unlocked. Spec wise there is not a noticable difference between them while using the phones at the VZW store.

Not saying you should get one, but I've had both the rezound and a galaxy nexus and honestly the size difference isn't much at all. Just something to keep in mind.

I switched from the GS3 to the HTC 4g mainly because of the reception. The GS3 is a better phone in every way except for the signal strength. You might want to test it before you buy it.

i haven't heard a thing from verizon, a couple responses from htc, thats all, course i live near the east coast, so

I went through 7 refub Rezound's (overheating, random reboots) and they offered me the inc4g and extended battery in replacement and I accepted it and when it arrived I didn't realize it was noticeably smaller then the Rez which I didn't want a smaller screen plus it had only half the storage of the Rez so I called and complained and he offered me the Razr Maxx and this is much better then the Rez and I am now rooted and loving it. Just holding out for the Note 2 to arrive.

dood, phone has been discontinued by tmo, it's not got much life in it. I just happens to be one of the 2 soon to be 3 available hspa+ 42mbps devices! once the s drops you can expect more price drops on the Amaze.
The phone may be going EOL but it's probably their best phone and is still comparable to the new One S. Also those ads are completely one sided, note that they are using an iPhone for Sprint which is only a 3G phone. I used to be on Sprint before switching to T-Mobile and their 4G service was decently quick... if you could get it.

My friend up here has an EVO3D and never switches 4G ON. I asked him why and he said "by the time it even connects or finds 4G signal, the web pages could already have been loaded on 3G"
Don't know how accurate that is but Idk why it would take so long to connect.

That would only be the case if you switch it on to check one page then shut it back off again. It does take about 30 seconds or so to connect to 4g, much like it does to connect to WiFi. Personally that sounds like a dumb excuse to not use 4g. We don't have 4g here but if we did, I'd likely leave it on all the time since my phone is near a charger all day anyways.

I am very interested in it, Asus is one of my favorite companys specially for gaming, i love their ROG series. i have the Asus G74 laptop right now and plan on getting the Asus Tytan.
Note that its never good to get any phone when its just released. i wait a few months for all the problems (if it has any) to be fixed and development to start and prices to drop. while the samsung galaxy ii already been out for quite a while.
according to this site it wont be too much more than the one s: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Asus...mer-Pad-300-Get-Priced-in-Europe-264743.shtml
only $15 more for just the phone. i will wait till the price is around $400 on ebay then ill buy it in a heartbeat
edit: look at their website now. they updated the information about it. http://www.asus.com/Mobile/PadFone/ you can get 102 hours of battery from padfone (the phone), the station (tablet), and the station dock (keyboard). they all use the hardware of the padfone (cpu/gpu/ram/camera), but they all have their own battery. also its all one data package (from the phone). this is going to get huge IMO.
the camera should be better than the amaze as well, has the same aperture, but a better lense made my asus.

Probably not losing as much as you think. Plus if you buy all the accessories and S crap they'll be making bank $$. $200 for Rezound $130 for Nexus sounds legit loool.
I'm also skeptical about this, got email from samsung and decided to search on xda and here i am. For my rezound its 200, but they are also offering $135 for my Hero S. Is this legit?
$15 for my Fascinate. Wowza. $200 for the Rez wouldnt be bad if we could get the GSM Nexus from google, but it wouldn't do much good if still w/ Verizon.
Before you guys get all excited about this, you should go to the Verizon S III forums and read about the issues that phone has. Horrible signal reception, locked bootloader, as well as other issues.

Still doesn't solve the fact that Samsung has crap radios. I have my Droid Charge as a backup still and it is night and day in radios compared to HTC phones. Unless you go GSM, forget about it.

This is interesting...it appears Samsung is going for market penetration with the phone and trying to get as many people on the phone as they can, then allowing customers to sell to customers. Only downside I've heard is the signal quality, and even that I've only heard about on the forums. I can't tell you how many people I know have switched to the GS III. And every one of them is just giddy about their new GS III. This is people who previously couldn't care less about their phone, very non-technical. At least in my smallish circle, it's quickly becoming the iPhone of Android. Wonder if that's Samsung's plan...
Don't get me wrong, I'm quite happy with my Rezound with no intention of changing. Just making an observation.

Verizon Tech Support giving away Rezounds

a buddy of mine told me that if you currently own a tbolt and call Verizon Wireless complaining about certain issues, they replace it with a Rezound. Has anyone heard anything about this?
If you get your Thunderbolt replaced for valid insurance purposes, they will replace it with a rezound since most, but not all, Verizon stores are out of Thunderbolts.
Some times, though, you won't be offered a rezound. Rather, you may get offered a LG Revolution... which sucks.
There is a post about it here:

You have to push a little if they don't offer it. We got my wife's Charge replaced with a Rezound last night. Took some prodding, they wanted to offer a Stratosphere or Spectrum or Nexus. When we pushed, they offered the Rezound or Bionic as well.
Just had my Thunderbolt replaced for a broken screen through the insurance of Verizon and I still got a Tbolt for a replacement . Guess they found some more.....

Same here. When I talked to the Rep at Asurion about my phone (sucky data connection) I hinted about the rezoned replacement. He told me that they have plenty of TBs around. Which is fine, I like the TB when it's working, with a good ROM it doesn't really matter what the phone is to me.

I think he's talking about my phone being replaced under the phone insurance program (Asurion). This is my 3rd TB from them so I think it's paid off. It's the first phone I bought insurance on and I'm glad I did. Having to cough up several hundred dollars for a new phone would suck.
Edit: Looks like they are out of refurbs at Asurion. I got a brand spanking new TB yesterday. It works beautifully (for now) I'm going to let it sit stock for a few days to make sure but then Jester's ICS will be on there in no time.

The Rezound. Personal preference, but the big part for me is the SD card. Yes, the Nexus has a slightly larger screen, and is, well, a Nexus device, but overall I just really have liked HTC's devices.

Nope. The rezound is my last HTC device. They make decent quality stuff, but they refuse to support it. Well, it started with the many replacements of the tbolt, then HTC's hard stance against updating their tablets kinda pushed me over the edge, then they updated the flyer/view to broken software and they wont even fix it. Now the Rezound is having touchscreen issues. So I'm just tired of dealing with the problems and the lack of OEM support after purchase. I appreciate the Dev community for the zound, but sammy seems to be stronger in that dept. So I think I am going to give them a shot. I won't touch Moto with a ten foot pole. It may be a bad move, but I'm willing to take that risk after all the issues I have had recently with HTC. So for me, from here on out, it's going to be Nexus, or Samsung.
Samsung is worse.
I love my Rez and I still think of it as probably one of the, if not the most undervalued android phone released to date, but I don't see myself going for yet another carrier exclusive device after this. Of course, reviews might be so great for the DNA that I could change my mind but so far I am not that impressed.
Having said that however, the lack of a LTE capable Nexus 4 kinda limits the options for those looking to upgrade atm and I really cant see myself with a Galaxy S device. Wish Sony would be given a chance at penetrating the US market, they seem to strike a fair balance between corporate dev support, hardware and software quality.
I'll be getting this. The hardware and build quality will be top notch, it can be unlocked through HTCs dev website and be able to load cm. It was between this and the note but son, I am dissapoint at it having the older gen exynos and 720p screen on a 5.5 inch screen.
no, my next phone will be honor 2 or note 2
battery is important factor to me now
i dont think i will ever came back to htc

Its looking like ill most likely be getting it. I'm thinking ill be getting the DNA and one other new gen phone probably a GSM phone since I have two contracts, one with ATT and one with Verizon.
But I will be more careful than usual with this purchase. I'm currently so broke I can't afford the down payment on a grilled cheese sandwich. But this phone is a priority, and I owe it to the BAMF community. So I've been saving my pennies and will be selling some stuff to raise some funds.

samsungs radios and signal are 10x worse.
in my house, my gs3 gets about 6kbps download on 3g.
my rezound, when its not pulling 4g in my house (which the nexus and GS3 CAN'T), pulls atleast half a meg to a meg per second. doing anything on the gs3 on 3g is terrible, and ridiculously slow. fb app won't even load. rezound loads it no problem. hell, i even tethered 3 tablets to my rezound last night and while we were all browsing at the same time, ti was STILl faster than my gs3
i don't think i'd buy antoher samsung phone ever again, and i really want the DNA...dunno if i wanna fork out 600 bones for it tohugh

[Q] Are all new DNA preload with 2.06?

I have to buy a new DNA from Amazon after I was reimbursed through squaretrade for my old broken one. Are all the new DNAs preloaded wtih 2.06? I have a feeling I'm going to miss my old S-off DNA a lot....
No. Mostly 2.04 and prompting to update to 2.06. Rarely will you find version 1.xx

If I have to warranty. I'm totally selling it and buying a different phone. Vzw sucks for this.

I think Verizon locks all their phones, so not sure what you would switch to..

No Verizon SUCKS for locking their phones. 99.5% of people could care less about being unlocked so they just don't like .5% of us. Not sure what you comment has to do with anything do you like locked phones? Just wondering cause it sounds kinda like it. Just saying...

LOL, I agree. First off I just got my DNA Wednesday (for free) and It shipped with 2.04 and I haven't received any update notification as to this moment. Second - I have avoided Big Red for the last 6 years and things like this make me wonder if this was a "good move" for me. However I will admit that the Droid DNA is one of the best android devices if not the best they offer this phone a bad-azz no doubt about it. I like HTC and I think they would or could care less if you boot, root or pollute your phone that's why they offer the unlock codes but they have been doing a terrible job marketing their products so when the #1 cellphone provider in America say's NO, they will certainly comply.
I just got one as well in the free deal and it came with v2.04. It has been asking me to update to v2.06 though.
There is a new way to root with S-off, it is done and getting ready for release for all to do if so desired. serious, any day.
How do you check what hboot it has?

Should be able to check in the bootloader. It's right up at the top below where it tells you either S-on/S-off.
Used the promotional coupon from Verizon and got my free DNA this past Friday. It had 2.04 out of the box. About 3 minutes after I powered it on I received the notification to install 2.06 which does nothing but fix some kind of sim card problems people were having. I did not do my research before upgrading to this phone and had no idea that rooting was not an option at the moment or that may have been a deal breaker. I came from the rezound and had it rooted the enitire time I had it. Sux not having a rooted phone after having one for so long. Almost feels like right now I'm in demo mode or something. Hopefully that moonshine method comes out soon cuz I'm in root withdrawal.
