[Concept] Possible way to unlock bootloader using only ADB - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I could be completely off the wall, and the idea is rough but each phone will be partitioned into separate categories, such as Bootloader, System, Data, etc. If we were to obtain the Bootloader partition on another Xperia phone of the same model with an unlocked bootloader, would it be possible to restore it to a non-unlockable bootloader using the DD command?
I'm just wondering as this idea is yet to be explored. I got the idea reading about a fix for the Nook Tablet, HERE.

No, it won't work. You can't write with dd if you're not root.

I'm willing to do anything it takes. I have my ways of cracking different forms of encoding and such, and if it's in an inaccessible location I will try to find a way around. As a community, I bet we can do something. At least install CWM without unlocking the bootloader.

You can do that already, with the chargemon trick. Unlocking bootloader is not possible from the OS though, it needs to be done on a lower level (testpoint/JTAG).

That would be great, but still simlocked phones could not boot to fastboot.
As on 2011,there were exploit but laser used it to make money,so if you had simlock you needed to pay still to unlock bootloader.

I like where this thread is headed, keep up the good work. :good:
Cheers !

Hello all,
Hope there is a solution soon.
Is it the csca certificate that needs to be changed to change the unlockable status?
I spoke to someone from Sony who said they had software there that could do it. He told me to come here and wait till someone from Sony leaks it or finds another way.
Apparently when the Sony s1 signature server was online you can do a full csca certificate unlock and that will change the status of the unlockable bootloader remotely using software to connect.
Cheers,
Lunar.

[Tutorial] Relock bootloader!

Update: As of 29th April 2013, Relock bootloader file has been downloaded 80494 times!
As I already mentioned a week or two ago, there's unlock key in TA Misc after BL unlock.
This file removes the key, therefore relocks the bootloader.
Flash with FlashTool.
DRM can't be restored!
Download: http://www.mediafire.com/file/g1b5j712ajx4yjd/Xperia_Relock_bootloader.ftf
Feel free to donate if this helped you
Update:
If you unlocked your phone with SEtool/Omnius - any testpoint unlock solution - YOU CAN NOT RELOCK BOOTLOADER! IT'S PATCHED SO IT APPEARS LOCKED TO SE, BUT ACCEPTS UNSIGNED IMAGES VIA FASTBOOT! SO STOP ASKING ABOUT IT, AND STOP TRYING.
Also, there seems to be problem with Verizon Plays, usually this doesn't work for them, when unlocked via fastboot.
Enjoy
Good work man.
Gonna test it tomorrow to get my original firmware.

No, since fastboot is still not enabled with this. However, this will most probably come in handy for such phones once fastboot is re-enabled since during unlock, security zone is kind of reset - new sim-unlocked one is calculated.
Does this fix TrackID?
Can I try to use this method on my bricked phone (get worse by used the patch "perset.ta as simlock.ta flashing")?

Unlocking bootloader from Live with Walkman

I researched about the matter, and reached some conclusions:
- I don't want to use the TEST POINTER method, I really don't care about OTA updates or Track ID app (as far as I know there are no more consequences), Shazam and Soundhound do the same
- I would like to unlock the bootloader in some manner that, if I need to relock the warranty will still be valid (same goes for root, but I guess flashing an original firmware unroots the device)
That said, found the official instructions to unlock the BL, but still have the main question: is it the procedure completely reversible? Also, is it free?
Thanks in advance. Also really appreciate if someone corrects something wrong I said.

you can still relock your bootloader and receive official sony updates, but the problem is, you loose DRM(in which if sony finds out, you still lose warranty).
i found this thread and said that DRM cannot be restored :/
I don't know about non free relocking if it will be able to restore DRM though.
oh and by the way, this thread provides the easiest way to unlock and relock your bootloader for free.
goodluck and enjoy
DRM cannot be restored at all.
Install TrackID from market and it will work.
Bootloader can be relocked, doesn't matter how you unlocked.

Ok, so I suppose the DRM Keys only affect the OTA updates (how should we care if we are unlocking BL for custom ROMs
So, I suppose if I have a problem on my Live (but it still turns on), I apply an OFW and then relock it, it's a matter of luck if the techical assistance is going to check if the DRM is still valid or not.
What method do you advice to unlock the BL?

Unlock it the way you prefer to it does not matter it will lose warranty any way it is just luck if they will check it or not at the service center. Any way it is really hard to completely brick your phone unless you don't know what you are doing. The main difference is with the test point method you are able to update using seus without problems and it looks more complicated than it really is I only used a clip
just a question about unlocking thru official method.
since you would have to get the unlock key directly from Sony.
would they be able to track your phone since you will be giving them some details like your name, IMEI, email etc. to get the unlock code?
do the service centers have access to that database?
There are no Sony Mobile Service Centers, phones need to be taken back to shop and they use service of specific mobile repair shop.
Depending on what reason you need to take it back, they might want to check it or not. No one has so far done this, so we have no information.

There is no risk either way the difference is that with the official method you will lose your drm (Digital rights management) and the official support of track id (the app from se that you use to search for the info of a song playing in the radio or the tv etc.) meanwhile using the test point method you will not lose them. If you want to install a custom rom like cm9 or miui you need to unlock your bootloader to be able to flash the custom kernels those roms need.

I just want to understand the following. Some Live's come with "unlock bootloader allowed"="no" others ="yes". What does that means and more important: what are the implications?
I cannot understand the difference because as fair as I understand right now, all live's (branded/sim unlocked or not) are unlockable (referring to bootloader).

When they come with boot loader unlock : no it is a branded sim locked phone in which case you can unlock bootloader but you will have no access to fastboot meaning you are unable to flash a custom kernel, also there will be no way you can officially unlock the bootloader so will have to use the test point method and of course you will need to pay to fully unlock your phone to be able to access fastboot and flash custom kernels.

OFFICIAL Bootloader unlock - READ

As you all know, the Verizon bootlaoder is locked.
I'm here to tell you that there is a ray a hope after all. :fingers-crossed:
I have a non-XDA project I am working on that required me to scan through the partitions of the vzw sgs4 and while doing this I found some interesting information.
The info below was extracted directly from the SCH-I545's system:
Code:
...Secure Boot...Secure Boot Key...Next...Unlock Successful...Invalid Keys...Quit...I Agree...Done.ˆ9ˆE
You have obtained the key for unlocking the bootloader to install custom OS. In order to unlock the bootloader,
you must read and accept the following terms and conditions. By clicking on the “I Agreeâ€. button, you acknowledge and agree to the terms and conditions.
If you change your mind, you may click on the “Cancelâ€. button, which will stop the process..
1. The unlocking of the bootloader voids and invalidates the warranty of your device.
As result of the unlocking, certain functions of your device may cease to function and physical injuries or material damage may occur, for example, due to the phone overheating.
You take full responsibility for any and all consequences that may arise from the unlocking of the bootloader. Samsung will not be liable for any damages that such unlocking may cause,
and you waive any rights in connection with the unlocking..
2. You will not be able to recover the device to its original state. Even if the device’s setting is restored, the warranty will remain voided and invalid..
3. As result of the unlocking, you may lose certain contents that you have stored on your device, for example, through the malfunction of the DRM functions..
4. You agree that your attempt to unauthorized kernel download from the default setting or without the authorization key will lead to blocking of the device,
which may permanently disable the device. Samsung will not be responsible for any damages or injuries that result from such attempt. For downloading of custom kernel,
you need to follow through a special installation process as set forth in the device manual..
5. You agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations as well as any contractual obligations that you may have with your wireless carrier in using the unlocked devices. In particular,
you will not operate the unlocked device on any wireless carrier’s network unless such wireless carrier approves of the operation of such unlocked device on its network..
6. You agree not to resell your unlocked devices to other parties without first explaining the content of the terms and conditions herein...
ۨۨYour key is verified and the unlocking is successfully done..
If you want to read the terms and conditions you have agreed for unlocking bootloader,
please visit our website....Input value...Please enter value...Select Row...Enter the row...Help.11email: [email protected] tel:010-7260-5948
What this tells us is that there just might be a way to obtain a 'key' to unlock the boot-loader directly from Samsung.
Interesting, right?

If I understand your question correctly you are best answered by googling the loki hack. There is a detailed yet easily understandable blog post out there that explains exactly what the boot vulnerability is and how its used to moot the issue of the locked bootloader.

wish I could help ya, I can't even get flashtool to recognize the Xperia ZU -- which drivers did you use? I don't see the ZU listed as supported in the drivers section ...
as for your problem -- did you use the same key Sony email'ed you the first time or asked the website to generate a new one? As I understand it, the first unlock also deleted the DRM keys .. not sure if that was used somehow to calculate the KEY it generated (kinda like a hash check?) shrugs -- I know that Re-locking your bootloader did NOT restore those keys ... not unless you backed it all up first with that backup app that's on the dev section.

Well I am a bit confused as to what you are asking and why ----
You mention a TA restore --- that would imply you did a TA BACKUP *before* unlocking bootloader --- correct?
If that is the case, why did you RE-lock the bootloader with the procedure in this thread .. you could/should have just done TA Restore. The procedure here is just for us saps who unlocked the BL via Sony method.
Now .. having said that ... I *believe* that you can still do a TA Restore (if you did a Backup obviously) -- and it should bring everything back to square 1 .. but since I never got to do it, I can't say I've tested this. Why not ask in that thread, the developer seems to have tested out a few diff scenarios successfully.
Cheers

Yes, exactly. If you have a TA Backup before unlock, you're good
And yes you should be able to unlock again with original keys.
One thing -- why would you even WANT to unlock the BL? rooting the phone has been achieved now without unlocking the bootloader -- there's no advantage to unlocking it now.
cheers!
Custom recoveries are great fun

DRM keys lost, only way is to have done a TA backup before unlock. If you didn't you loosed it, only can hope devs find a way to get it back without the DRM keys.

Yes, in order to edit system files.
Thanks for the great help!!
p.s: so nice to root the device by an app such as Stump!

Sure is nice when there is a flaw in stock code that allows you to inject root (privilege escalation).
Sorry its a pet peve of mine, I'd rather an unlocked bootloader and secure system so I know that if I'm on stock nothing gets root until I'm ready for root by unlocking the bootloader.
/soapbox lol

But BL was already been unlocked?

BL was bypassed, not unlocked. Nexus devices, some Sony devices, and some HTC devices can have the BL unlocked (commands in fastboot, no root required to do) but BUMP just tricks the bootloader then requires boot imgs to be signed with the DEVs keys (from my understanding).
This means it is not a true unlock but will act as a unlock if the imgs are signed by the devs (I'm not privy to the actual method so I could be off a bit)
With a true unlock you take a step, outside of the normal system, usually wiping data in the process, to enable an unsigned recovery that allows you to flash a new system. This means if I steal your device I can't root it and install a few apps then give it back with you not knowing, or steal your CC info stored in a db file using root privileges.
Sammy and LG root/unlocks are backwards. I can take your device, install stump, delete stump, install a root/hidden tracker, and follow where you go without your knowledge, all in about 15 mins.
