Mail no longer auto-updating - HTC Rezound

Been on Nil's Business Sense for months, no probs...
Today, out of the blue, my email no longer is syncing. I have verified it is still set to check every 5 minutes, and it was fine yesterday (and I have not been tinkering for months). Even rebooted, then powered off and did a battery pull when that didn't work...no good.
Mail only refreshes if I go into my mail folder now.
Any ideas?

Uncheck it from sync, recheck it, sync all, then you should be good

I tried this to no avail...did you mean somewhere else?
In mail, I went to:
Settings
Send & Receive
(tried un-checking inbox from sync - could not)
Update Schedule
changed frequency from 5 min to manual
exited to desktop, went back and re-set to 5 min.
Still does nto auto-sync my mail.
If from the desktop I go to settings - accounts and sync, then select my email, I get to the same place as above.
The only thing I have not tried is deleting my email account from Accounts and Sync, because it warned that doing so would delete all mail, contacts, etc.

Aha!
When I went back in that way again, I noticed the slider at the top for "Auto Sync" for everything was set to "off" (weather, mail, etc...)
The master sync switch also resides on one of my screens near my wifi button...must have accidentally turned it off from there.
Thanks!

[Q] SC 2.4 Exchange Calendar doesn't sync

I have updated my phone through all the superclean versions, and felt very comfortable with 2.4. I have 2 Fascinates that connect to the same exchange server, and I noticed that the calendar won't keep updates with exchange, mail and contacts are fine though. I did a little research and dropped one of the phones back down to SC DL30 1.0 I have no exchange issues with calendar on this version. I know this version is less stable and would like to run EB01 on both devices.
Is this calendar app the TW calendar or AOSP Calendar and is it possible to run it in place of the existing calendar on SC 2.4?
I just checked on mine, by default it appears that SC 2.4 doesn't have contacts(though they are on my phone from exchange) and calendar sync checked. I had to go in to the sync settings and check contacts/calendar.
After checking them my calendar did a sync and everything showed up.
edit: Double checked, as soon as I enter something on my OWA site it shows up on the phone now.

Yeah, I navigated through and checked those settings on both, they are checked, and in account settings it shows the date and time of the last sync, but the data just isn't in the calendar.

Hmm, that's odd. Mine is working perfectly fine on 2.4. It has some problems deleting appointments from phone when they are removed on the PC but I think that's more of a delay in processing.
When I add things it appears immediately.
Did you ever fix this problem?
I'm having the same problem. sync is checked on the settings but my calendar doesn't show my entries. email is syncing properly.
Never fixed it, the issue seemed to resolve itself with the newer builds.

Gmail sync

Hello
The stock gmail app does not sync. It does not even push. Have to manual refresh to receive mails. Wots the problem?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Settings/Accounts and sync/click on gmail account check that Gmail is ticked.
You prolly have the phone go into power saving mode when the battery drops to 50%.
When it goes into power saving mode, autosync turns off.
If u want autosync most of the time, then change power saving mode to 10%.
Even more funny with mine:
since yesterday 6.30 pm stock email app won´t do anything anymore, not even manual sync. Sync circle stays forever. Worked some minutes before faultless.
Tried to register server newly with my gmail address but green bar stayed forever ........
Clicked "cancel", went back to mail app and mail app told me: "account or password wrong"
It´s now completely dead. Tried to switch off, batt off, clear cache but it is dead .................... Google Gmail app works flawless as well as calendar, docs and all othet google account related apps.
Only thing I dedected: when I look into system - running apps - under Samsung mail app it says "Reboot" ???? (in German NEUstart) ...................
Wonder if anyone has an idea how to solve THIS ?
Am I stupid or what ?
I don´t find the register in the menu where I can SELECTIVELY and ONLY delete the account for the samsung stock email app .......................
Am I blind ?
Just for Info (I´m SOOO stupid)
Open stock mail app, long press on Gmail left upper box, choose "delete".
Then register same account again, voila, it works again ..........
(Found it in a German forum .......................... )
I have probably the same problem, although it could be something different. Teh gmail sync can be turned on under Accounts&Sync menu, but it turns off every time I reboot / turn-off the phone. I am using CM7, but I am not sure if this problem is CM7 related... I have reflashed GAPPS but it didn't help.
am facing the same problem not only my gmail does not sync properly, my whatsapp msgs are coming in really slow. am gonna try to delete the account and sign in again. see if it helps.
In my case deleting account didn't help. It still happens for some reason that the Gmail sync doesn't work and when I go to Accounts & Sync preferences I just see that the Gmail sync dialog box is unchecked. So, then I just check the box and it starts working until it, due to mysterious reasons, stop syncing and I need to repeat the process to start the sync again.
Do you have the battery saving feature enabled and if so check the settings.
Because one of the settings (I don't know which because I disabled the useless thing) disables sync or at least it did on my phone.

I have CM7 ROM and I don't use any other special tweaks or settings. The thing is only gmail stops syncing. When I open the sync settings (Accounts & Sync) I often find gmail unchecked, but contacts and everything else syncs just fine. When I set the gmail to sync, everything works until I restart my phone (I have it turned off overnight...).
Hope it described my problems well enough. I have already tried reflashing ROM, GAPPS, deleting my account, cache and all kinds of things I was able to think of. Nothing helped.
I couldn't find such setting. If you mean wi-fi sleep policy I have it set to never. The thing is Gmail sync box is being constantly unchecked whenever I turn off an on again my cell phone...

[Q] Exchange and Gmail Sync Issues

I just got the Rezound yesterday for my work phone. I have Exchange setup on the phone and my grail account. However, neither one syncs. I let me phone sit overnight and when I came back to it, it said I had 0 emails. As soon as I opened it and hit menu refresh, I got all my emails from over the night. Now the only way I can get my email is doing the menu refresh.
I have factory reset the phone twice and double checked the settings. They are set to push email (even off peak) and always on mobile data is checked.
Anything else I can check or try to get them to work? Is it maybe a defective phone? Everything else works fine. I can surf the web, youtube and everything. Just email issues.

When I've had this problem (on different phones), I go to application data and clear the caches and data for gmail, reopen gmail and it usually starts syncing correctly after that. But I would assume that a factory reset would accomplish this?

I will give that a try. Thanks! Yeah I thought the factory reset would have fixed it too.

Nope didn't work
I just noticed too that I deleted an email from Gmail last night and when I opened Gmail on the web, it still showed the message in my inbox as unopened. So it is not syncing at all, either way.
It might be a bad phone. I have exchange with gmail as well and its syncing fine out of the box. I didn't adjust or change anything.
Is auto sync on

email not syncing automatically

So i'm not sure what happened, but all of a sudden as of a few days ago my email (stock mail app) has stopped syncing automatically and i can't seem to fix it. It will sync fine when opening up the app, but it doesn't seem to do it according to the schedule i have set, so i don't end up knowing i have emails unless i actually look.
anyone have any ideas? I've tried changing the schedule and that has done nothing. I have 3 email address all with different sync schedules and it seems like none of them are syncing automatically.
they used to work fine!
Mine did the same after about a week. Would only sync if you opened it.
Already disgruntled that there is no way to go from email to email without going back to your folder list I decided to use the standard email app instead.
Just copy the email.apk and exchange.apk from any aosp rom and put in the system/app folder and correct the permissions and reboot.
Haven't had any issues since but this will only help if rooted.

I had this issue too a couple of weeks ago, however, now it has gone away. I would try settings and then accounts & sync and make sure the mail account is listed and the auto-sync switch is on.
I had my hotmail setup through the new hotmail sync profile and it quit working recently. I deleted it and set it up under the email profile and it worked fine. I don't sync my MSN contacts or calendar anyway.

Issues with GMAIL Syncing

Hey everyone, new to the DNA (bought last Friday) and I'm totally a fan. The phone is awesome. However I'm having an issue where I'm having to manually go in and sync my Gmail to the phone. It doesn't automatically pull the Gmail down. I've made sure that sync is set to auto and that all the correct boxes are checked.
Currently stock running 4.1.1 (Software Number: 2.04.605.2 71ORD)
Gmail App Version: 4.2.1
Any help would be greatly apprciated.
Thanks,
Brocja01
That's pretty weird I don't have any problems with gmail sync. Do you maybe have an app installed that is controlling sync times ?
Edit: I'm also on stock btw.

I thought maybe it was the sync notification app you install for Nova, so I un-installed it and rebooted. Still not working. I'd hate to have re-install everything.
I think you covered this in your first post but have you actually gone into accounts under the normal android settings and made sure that your Gmail is supposed to sync?
It sounds stupid but it's somehow happened to me a few times where the Gmail sync box was unchecked.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
Nope, it is definitely checked. I'm wondering if it is something with my account. My nexus 7 isn't syncing either.
Try going into settings and apps then clear the data for gmail and then open the app back up to let it log you back in.

If you suspect it your account (which is unlikely), check on your computer to see if it syncs.
I'm getting emails on my computer just fine. It is just my two devices that I'm not getting mail on. Factory resetting my phone this morning, will see if does anything.
I've also added my secondary gmail account to the device and that one syncs, if I send an email to both accounts, i get a notification for my secondary account but I don't get one for my primary account. Any thoughts? Would this be something to hit google up on? Is there a number I could call?
Did you try clearing the app data like I suggested? This has happened to me before on different devices and clearing the data always fixed it for me.
Sent from my HTC Droid DNA
Most definitely tried that, also factory reset the phone. Trying turning the auto sync on and off a few times and that didn't help either. It is the craziest thing. Which I could figure it out.
Obvious things to try that I'm sure you kick yourself if you forgot any one of them:
- Under the specific account settings:
- Notifications are indeed checked?
- Gmail sync is on
- Manage labels, Inbox and any other important labels are set correctly?
- Days of mail to sync are set to ~30 days?
I think those are probably an exhaustive list of on-phone options that would preclude syncing.
Yup, went through all those settings. Multiple times.
Did you hit the setting within the GMail app specifically?
I recently went through this because of the Snapdragon Battery Guru app. It shut off my GMail sync and I had a hell of a time finding out how to put it back on.
I had to open the Gmail app itself and go to:
Settings > [your email account] > Notifications (check box)
Settings > [your email account] > Gmail sync is ON
If that's not it, then I don't know what else could be the issue.
I am thinking that during initial setup you said NO to background syncing so just check this ..
Settings -> Accounts .. -> Auto Sync (SHould be ON)

definitely check that! i went a day without emails, and any notification. i thought it was weird, but didn't really pay much mind to it. then i noticed that i'd only get my whatsapp messages when i actually opened the app, i checked for autosync. somehow, it was off. it was working fine all along, and i have no idea how it got turned off. everything has been fine since, though, so definitely double check that
