Lg Nexus - HTC Rezound

What's everyone's thought about lg?
Sent from my Rezound using xda app-developers app

Generally, LG has been great hardware that has traditionally had lousy dev support. That will very likely be different with a Nexus device.

Mmm key lime pie.... Ahhhhhh...
Sorry, Homer moment there. We will just have to wait and see, I don't doubt it will be an excellent device

What is next... BB gets the next Nexus. It seems like everyone is gonna get a turn at putting out a Nexus.

I would prefer the next nexus be made by htc

Being that it is a nexus, I would def say Google has A LOT of input on the software.

My only question is if they'll have a CDMA version on Verizon. I switched to Verizon from ATT because of poor signal and lack of 3G in my area. T-Mobile is even worse. Verizon is by far the best carrier in my area. If they are only releasing a GSM version, I guess I'll be skipping this one.

LG just doesn't do it for me I feel they have been behind the game with smartphones just my opinion . And honestly don't see the big difference between this new nexus and the gnex a little better specs which isn't night and day difference and that's it , my honest opinion and this is my opinion the LG nexus is a joke and like I said that's my opinion .

No difference in specs? way better screen, twice the RAM, better camera, newer gen processor. Specs are a lot better. The kicker will be whether anyone will dev for it. Since it will be stock android, it should run great out of the box, without LG being able to jack it up.

Agreed with everything except wondering if devs will dev for it. Its a nexus so that's a guarantee.

Non-expandable storage is absolutely fatal. If it had 32gb fixed, I could deal with it, but 8gb and 16gb? Sod off. Nice specs, though. If it has a fixed battery that's also a major negative. Need to see more companies taking the maxx approach: make a thin phone, then use the space savings for a huge battery.

What are your thoughts now that we have an official announcement? For me, I wasn't planning on getting this Nexus anyway, and seeing no LTE makes me glad that I'm not in a position to get it this year.

I was heavily upset with hearing that it's currently only a GSM/HSPA+ device..... I am totally down for getting one, if they make a CDMA/LTE version but it's so not worth switching to Tmobile or AT&T... I still have unltd data on vzw

If it had options like 32 or 64 gb I could deal with the non removable battery and lack of lte if i was on tmobile or something.

From what I've researched, the Vivid's cpu/gpu isn't near as fast as the GSII's Exynos and Mali 400MP. Our GSII is still far ahead of the game and it's hard for me to justify giving all of that up. I was liking the qHD display and other nice little features like LED notification, LTE, etc of the Vivid but I think my main problem is that I get bored way too fast...

Switch from iphone?

Has anyone made the switch from the iphone to this device? If so what are you thoughts/comparisons? Would you make the switch back? I am sure this has been asked but I am at work and just time constrained and can't search. Any input is greatly appreciated.

This is a great phone and will do just about anything the iPhone can do, the two downsides are the battery life is nowhere near the iPhones and the games on the play store are lacking but catching up quickly.
The screen in my opinion is much easier on the eyes than the iPhone and I love the size and feel of it. All in all if you don't mind buying an extended battery than I'd say this phone is ideal.
That being said, there are some newer phones out that are just as good but with that better battery life.
Hope I helped

Wait for the incredible 4g if you want HTC. The battery on this one is pretty bad. The snapdragon s3 is not easy on the battery. Otherwise look at the nexus or the razr Maxx (official ics is rolling out as we speak) and its pretty close to aosp. They also have working cm9.

Verizon s3 trade for Gnex ? Help!

Did you ever decide on what you want to do? I have a VZW Galaxy Nexus running a Jelly Bean ROM, 3 batteries total (2 standard, 1 extended), 3 battery covers (same as batteries), spare battery charger, and an Incipio Feather case. I plan on getting a new phone in about 2 weeks also and the Q is not even a thought. I don't really like Samsung but I'll be getting the S3.
I recommend you stay with the Photon and not get a new one. My reasons are selfish though, because I don't want you to leave us as a dev!
Honestly though, my girlfriend has the S3 and it's amazing. I don't like how fragile it feels in comparison to the Photon, but I watched her drop it on concrete yesterday and it surprised me. It landed in the top left corner and the screen didn't shatter. It just has a couple dings and scrapes on the sides.

IMO, get the S3:
1- As far as I know is the fastest phone out there
2- Samsung has added some nice software features
3- It's about to get official JB
4- The development community is growing up day by day
5- You will support Samsung in some way after the crappy outcome of the Samsung vs Apple trial D:
Thanks for all your work spleef..we've really enjoyed having you as one of our amazing devs!

the note 2 will face the same changes the sgs3 did, there is no current quad core chipsets that support LTE, the newest and greatest one to do so is the MSM8960 aka the qualcomm snapdragon S4 tahts inside the one x lineup, sgs3 lineup, and many many other phones this year

Samsung's radios are garbage. I had the Epic, have since given it to my ex-wife, and after a year, the single sucked, on all fronts. the cell signal sucked, the wifi signal sucked, and even the bluetooth was flakey. The Photon (and I got mine used, so it's probably a year old now) is 10 times better in those respects. The only thing the Sammy has that bests Moto is the Super AMOLED screen.

I don't know if you are paying attention to the development forum but they have clockwork tethered n on the device and they are actively working on an unlock n r very close.
Development is not everything !
NEVER buy a phone for what it 'might' do in the future. Buy it for what it can do now.
If custom roms are important to you, don't get this phone right now. Get an S3 or One X.
If a really good oem experience is OK for you, and root is good enough, then look no further! I think this is an awesome phone.
But until proven otherwise, assume that the bootloader will never be unlocked. It might be, but if that is critical to you, then you should be buying a phone that can do that today.
Each to their own.

This phone is an animal. And even now, the test units for the N4 have been updated with the build that will be on the shipped units and in benchmarks and real world testing it doesn't hold a candle to this phone. That of course poses a couple of questions like why is vanilla android not as fast or faster than the build on the optimus g if the hardware is so similar? And why buy the n4 for faster access to updates if those updates don't bring it up to the same performance level as the Optimus G?
Wireless charging is the only feature I wish we had and hey, I can live without that. So IMO this phone is superior and will be even more so if/when the developers here work there magic and get passes the locked bootloader. So I would suggest sticking around.

While I agree that LTE and expandable storage are important, if lack of sufficient progress towards boot loader unlock, in 5 days, would drive you to return the device, for one that will get customer ROMs, getting an S3 which from what I read is about to lose it's dev support due to Samsung policies (devs are tired of doing inefficient, cumbersome work arounds that shouldn't be necessary) isn't a good option, even if you got LTE everywhere you went and could expand storage to 2 TB. The One x has it's drawbacks too.
Even stock unrooted, this thing is a monster in terms of what I'm seeing it do. I may still trade it in for the One X+ at the end of this week, but if I don't I certainly can't find fault with it yet. If I can survive a Droid Bionic with utter lack of Dev support (for good reasons, obviously), the LG OG will be a snap!

I really wish the HTC One X+ had 2GB of RAM, mainly because of the uncertainty of needing 2GB for the next version of Android OS.

The other thing you aren't understanding is the Tegra 3 only supports single channel memory, so that one gig is much slower than our 2gb of dual channel memory.
