How to build a Touch Recovery - Android

Feel free to move this thread if it is on the wrong place.
Hello everybody, I'm here because of the HTC Touch HD, aphone that shipped with WinMo, but luckily we got a working NAND ROM (like a nativa android phone). We also have a CWM recovery (obviously) Version 5.[something].
I want to do them a suprise and build a touch recovery, so I need your help. Can somebody tell me how to do this or just give me a link to a tutorial since I couldn't find any?
Thank you for reading ,
mfsr98

The easiest way to go about it...and the only way I know, so might not be the easiest...is to get a cyanogenmod working directory up.add your device and kernel trees, then replace bootable/recovery with a cwm touch recovery source or a twrp source....
Here's a how to for twrp: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/23903-how-to-compile-twrp-from-source/
BTW twrp is a touch screen themeable recovery with a nice ui

I don't like to say this, but I need a noob-proof guide... this one doesn't direct me to any code links or anything. Still, I'll give it a shot and see how ot goes.

That guide is pretty detailed, this is heavy development to port to a phone, not like reading the directions on how to play monopoly. You replied in 5 mins to the post, unless you were pressing f5, and are a super reader, you didn't even read the documentation he linked you too.
How about you help yourself first before wasting our time.

Depending on the connection speed....it can take hours for the first sync...I usually run it over night so I just sleep through the time it downloads everything...

[Q] [HELP] How to create update-script?

Hope I've posted in the correct section
Hi guys,
How to I go about creating an update-script? Over the past few days I'be been cooking my own ROM (it's a port from the Incredible S dumps) and creating the update script is the last step before I test the ROM out and if it works, uploading to the Android Development forum.
I'm using a Nexus One btw.
So, could any assist me?
Thanks,
redbullcat
I tried to make my own the other day, and I found a helpful thread on the commands you can use for it. Ill try and find the link then update here.
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=641223
This one is for update-scripts but I imagine there's not that much difference, correct me if I'm wrong. There does seem to be other commands for the same things in updater-script.
Another suggestion is to look at existing updater-scripts and see what makes them tick. They are quite self explanitory, nice and easy to read.

You can take an update script from another custom rom, i think.
Don't forget to sign and do nandroid.

You could also do this, but depending on what the custom rom changes you may need to change things in there, maybe not.

no I don't do any thing for this file.<<this is my next step
anther ROM I cooked just do change name and I try to flashed in my phone.. the result is aborted
I don't know what is the problem...
Q: Do I need to get something other than this:
1- JAVA
2- cygwin
?!
it could also be his boot.img...did you put one in from your stock rom or any other rom or just use the one it came with
this choice
just use the one it came with
is there any problem?!
check framework.jar,framework-res.apk,build.prop and boot.img... also should check update-script but most important...is your rom well compiled and signed?

or to know what is the problem?
How I can put beats audio?

Can you pull us a logcat and post it here?
I mean, maybe you've included a kernel, or baseband to your build so it can be done on 2 ways:
*well done: ROM works
*not that well: ROM won't work
Aboyt framework and all that stuff, maybe you tried to include a theme, or volume steps, or something like that by an abailable path and it can be making some issue...
About beats, use search engine, there's a how to somewhere here...
About asking here or there, it goes up to u, I think it's here where you should do so because devs and modders are often here and not that much in phone forum (at least talking about myself and friends)

Thanks for the excellent motivation.
adb logcat in command prompt with the device plugged in via usb and at the "on state" will get you the log
And it's probably best to some small modding before doing work on heavy stuff

Clockworkmod v6.0.1.5 non-touch for protou 30/12/12

I've searched very hard to find a recovery for my new phone, but there is not many options. So I managed to build one myself, fixed the fb shifting and did some modifications for convenience.
Hope it will be useful, and thanks to the CWM team.
----------------------------------------------------------------
It seems the raw emmc partition is protected by the kernel, so the update.zip which has a boot.img inside won't fully applied. You have to drag the img out and flash it via hboot mode(unlock required).
I wonder if android devices all protect their raw partitions, or just desire x does.
Anyway, here is a new build of CWM, with a tiny fix of usb lun file mismatch( not sure if it fix the usb mount issue, need someone with a otg cable to test). A patch file of CWM v6.0.1.5 is uploaded too, check to see if it helps.

Glad it works for you. It's no big deal, just a small bug fix.
In fact, I'm pretty new to android. Still adapting to this new phone, also trying to make it better.

I can confirm this but it didn't work on Llior's recovery either.
Anyway back-up and restore works just fine (without having to manually create md5) and it looks slick. Good job!
Guys, i posted a test build of touch recovery in dev section. It works but has the display shift bug. @ OP, i need your help to fix the display bug, and then look into the usb mount issue. All credits to OP, Lloir and Koush, i just followed a tutorial.

If you put it in a zip, it should upload correctly. Instead of uploading each file individually. :good:
I tried to zip it from the phone but it still didn't include all the files. Also copying to computer only copied 2 files.

The only usable file in there is the kernel (boot.img). The rest are just md5 files and a log file.

Long story short, I have a G950U that someone updated to bootloader 5. Would you believe that i've been using this Combination Rom for a week now because i have no choice, its' the only V5 firmware i can find.. i was messing with the phone and needed to Odin, but had no files. I never want to see a combination rom again, lol. What i did was install Chrome with adb and went from there.. Chrome is the only Google app that works that i've found. No Play Store, no mail, no Gboard. Some will work at first but will very quickly get laggy and unresponsive, it's great ? If you enjoy frustration. Trying to text with the included keyboard will be one of the most frustrating things anyone has ever done.........ever, lol. Nova launcher works with it, I'm guessing most launchers do work.
So I to go to other app stores. i've spent hours looking but can only find the S8+ V5.
Combination Rom Challenge: How long can you use it as a daily driver before you throw your phone off a bridge? lol.
This S8 has no service so it's not really a daily driver for me and i could't try the phone. Talkatone works over WiFi though, lol.
Download Chrome apk on a pc. Open adb and type "adb install" then drag and drop the apk into the window, lol. Thats the extent of my adb skills

This is why proper research and planning is required BEFORE any form of flashing is to take place on an s8 or s8+. It's so when you end up in this mess, you know how to get out of this mess. As of right now, you are sol until a v5 odin firmware is released.
ps. A factory reset might at least let you use the phone as intended.

I do know this. This was not my first time using Odin, or even my first G950U. Seeing the phone was already on Bootloader 5 and not rootable I had the bright idea of putting a password on it to see what I could do with it, I was just bored really The phone has no service and has not been turned on in a month or more. So it would not really be missed. The problem in the first place is a badly cracked screen so it's basically worthless to anyone with no interest in this stuff. I guess mission accomplished though, lol. Technically I got past frp and the lock screen.
