[Q] No data on [4.1.2]AOKP for Photon Milestone 1 (10/29/12) - Motorola Photon 4G

Did a full wipe, installed the ROM, and rebooted. Everything works except for cellular data, anyone have any suggestions? It's on Sprint.

Yeah, if you had searched the AOKP thread you would have found that this was an issue with Th3Bill's first release of the MS1 AOKP rom. you have to nandroid back to your last version of AOKP (always backup before flashing a new rom) and then re-install the NEW version he has up on GOO.

Will it work if I flash the older version, since I don't have a backup of this specific rom, and then flash the newer one on top of that?
And which older version should I use?

If you flash an older version it will still have the borked radios. I think the only option you have at this point is to flash back to stock and start over.

You don't need to go back to stock. Just flash the new rom that works. The updated rom is great. Use SMS Backup so you can keep your txt messages.

Same issue was there when i flashed Roms using KS (tried CNA,CM9) and tried MUI Rom also still not use. But i was able to use it on stock RoM
If you are getting the force close upon the phone starting resulting in no service, this is normal with the ICS based roms. The last rebase joker did was on version 3.1. Installing anything after that only once will cause this issue. You can do one of three things to remedy this...
1: Use the Kitchen Sink Rom
2: Flash .3.1 first, then the latest version.
3: Flash the latest version, then immediately flash it again. Then install your gapps.
Also, make sure you have Jokers CWM.
Same issue
I was having the same issue, except right when my phone booted up it kept giving me the message that android.process.phone has stopped working, and it wouldn't let me connect to the mobile data network either.

thanks got it.
I just spent the last 6 hours figuring this out and go figure it would be in the Q&A section... Did a fresh stock flash, factory wipe, format cache, dalvik and system. Installed .3.1. Then ONLY wiped the dalvik cache and upgraded to the 6.1 i would stop getting the com.android.phone FC. If i did the factory wipe it would start FCing again.

[Q] Switching Between ROMs

Hi,
I installed CM 7.2.0-RC3
I would like to play around with some other ROMs
My questions are:
1) Any recommendations for some good ROMs? Specially ICS ROMs
2) Should I follow the exact same process as I did with CM (I used ROM Manager and ticked all the boxes - clear dalvik, clear something else etc)
3) I noticed that nandroid does not generate a single zip like flashing ROMs. How do I restore and why would I used this option if I can just re-flash ROM?
Thanks!!!

1. Joker's ICS ROM, Neutrino CM7 ROM, and NottachTrix4G GB ROM
2. Don't use ROM manager to flash ROMS, use a recovery ROM racers ect..
3. For nandroid, I personal do this. I do a backup of a ROM. And when I want to flash the ROM I flash the ROM itself, no Gapps or anything and then I restore the ROM with the nandroid backup.
Hope I answered your questions alright.

I would agree with #1 and #2.
For #3 I would recommend a nandroid backup, then verify the backup before you reboot to make sure it is good. No need IMO to flash the original ROM when restoring from a nandroid. Much more important to do a full wipe first, then just flash your nandroid backup.

ROM Manager is fine as long as you have good experience with your recovery image. It exists for a reason.

AOKP is also a really good ROM. You should check it out.

Well, if ROM manager does the job I think I will use it. I'm assuming it's simply building a script that does everything that's needed.
I really don't have any experience with recovery
As for backups, I think I will simply use Titanium for my Apps and Data. Everything else I need is backed up on Google so I should be fine
Thanks everyone!!!
OK, download gapps from:
http://www.jokersax.com/developer-pages/jokersax/cm9-gapps/
and aokp from http://d-h.st/e7A
Are these ok?
Can I simply go ahead and install through ROM Manager?
Gapps from here
http://goo.im/gapps
*Edit*
Actually I think that AOKP zip comes with gapps as an option in it.
And it doesn't matter if you use ROM manager or not.

I'm having the same problem. My data works fine if I switch back to a gingerbread rom, but stops with any ICS rom. I've even tried to restore the APN's via APN backup and restore, but no luck.
Does anyone have a fascinate ICS rom working with MetroPCS internet yet?

Yes, I read the post above, but wasn't sure if this pertained to MetroPCS too. I don't have 3g with Metro.
Also, how do I apply the patch. Do I have to push using ADB or RootExplorer?

ive noticed on the fascinate that apnbackup and restore doesnt do much for ics+ so theres a file that is in system/etc/apn-config.xml full of apn settings just add metropcs and ic&e's apns in there using the format, its all the apns that your cdma phone can use, then make into a flashable zip and it will be ready to re-flash everytime you switch roms. i have to do this for my fascinate to get it to work on straight talk lol
if i knew what the apn settings were for them i would make you a zip, ill look into it later tho

[Q] Cyanogenmod 9 install/help

hey guys,
so after reading the CM9 install guide, looks like I need to flash the stock ICS first. I'm currently using MIUI 2.1.7 which is still gingerbread.
I went to the stock ICS firmwares:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487
But didn't see any North American or Canada firmwares, does it matter if I get the Argentina one, or can anyone direct me to a North American version.
Another question is, after I flash the stock ICS, will I still have my root and CWM?
Thanks,
eclipse

Incorrect, just flash cm9.
I can go from MIUI gingerbread, straight to the latest CM9?
So just follow the flashing instructions I guess, and skip all the other nonsense?
If you're flashing through CWM there is a long and complex process to flashing such a complicated ROM:
Step 1. Factory reset/ wipe cache/ wipe dalvik cache
Step 2. Flash CM9
EDIT: Remember to keep breathing whilst you do it, sometimes I need to focus so intently on the complex process I forget.
One more question, if I wanted to update CM9 via Rom Manager, to a newer nightly, would any data/apps/contacts be lost or reset, or is it just an update?
Nightlies are just an update, no need for a wipe.

Don't use rom manager, I've been hearing bad things about it. Just use cwm recovery. And no data would be lost, just don't data wipe / factory reset in cwm recovery

If you don't have a ext Sd card don't try my suggestion! I would only ever advise a full wipe if you have a ext sd card just in case anything goes wrong plus like you said where would you put the rom. I would strongly suggest you getting a ext card no matter how small if you are flashing roms.

The steps I would take now would be after you have installed your 4.4 rom boot it up then reboot into recovery and flash a separate modem you could use one >> https://mega.co.nz/#!PQZDiRYY!V3pk5H24zuhI4xmE-RvF5gRKJ9N4ECg9YqEg09neX84 << and see if that works.
Also did you backup your efs when you where on stock 4.3 if not flash stock then backup your efs then try the steps above....

I also want to mention one thing
Currently, I have 4.1.2 installed on my s3

Should I make a backup of efs on 4.1.2 or should I upgrade to 4.3 and then make a backup of EFS?

Now you have confused me even more! I thought you said in your previous post that you had connection on 4.3 stock rom if so why are you on 4.1.2 ?. Stock rom 4.3 is efs v2 and stock rom 4.1.2 is efs v1 if you have no connection on 4.3 then this is your problem you still have efs v1 which will not work on 4.3 or any of the newer roms please confirm that you have a signal on 4.3 stock rom.

Ok that's good it means you are on v2 efs which is good..I just needed to confirm that you had v2 efs I thought you might have been on 4.1.2 because of no signal.
I must admit this is a strange one because the asop roms, omni roms etc don't change your baseband which can effect your signal. There is one more option you could try use this patched modem >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ck-firmware-i9300xxemg4-t2377731/post43946365 << by JustArchi look at post 15. Also your efs make sure you back it up preferably when you are on 4.3 stock rom.

Just want to add something
I used to install custom roms often. All of them worked perfectly fine
When I saw my flash counter it was 20+
So, I decided to use triangle away
Since then I am unable to flash any custom rom with working network successfully
