change font (non root) - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi is there a way to change the font in our S3 without root?

This app will allow you to install several fonts:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hongik.fontomizerSP
then you go in Settings -> Display -> Font and from there you can change the fonts.
Some launchers (such as Go Launcher Ex) also allow for changing fonts.
Edit: you don't need root for the above to work.

[Q] How would I download a font to use with Minimalistic Text?

Does this require a rooted phone? I simply need the font for the app, not to reflash my phone or whatever.
Are you looking to use this in an app you're developing, or as a system font?
I saw an article on tutsplus showing how to handle fonts (including custom fonts) in your own app. You can include the font in your app's assets.
If you want a font to be usable in other apps, you will need root. The font folder requires root access to modify: /system/fonts/Droid*.ttf

[Q] [HELP] Replacing Launcher

I use cm10 which has Trebuchet launcher as the default launcher.
As this launcher has limited number of customizations i want it to be replaced by the Apex launcher.
How to delete the Trebuchet launcher and replace it with the apex launcher before flashing the ROM?
Hi mate,
You can either open the ROM zip file, go to: /system/app and copy there the apex apk or better(if you ask me..) just download the apex launcher after flashing the rom and choose it to be default.
If for some reason you want to delete it, you can use root explorer to locate and delete the trebuchet apk from the path above.
*Don't forget to give the root explorer root access if you use the second method.
Cheers.

[Q] Before reinstalling it, could I modify the ROM to change the font size and font?

I'm wanting to change the font on most of the system things for the ROM to a different size, and I'm also wanting to change it to Roboto Condensed. Is there a way I could modify the folders of the ROM to do this? I've tried the apps on the Play Store, but they don't work.

Trying to convert Apex or Nova launcher to system app but failed

Hi guys,
I'm using a Huawei P9 with firmware EVA-L09C432B386 and I'm trying to convert Apex/Nova launcher to system app. It's because the phone wouldn't allow you to use certain widgets such as weather on third party launcher.
I moved both Apex and Nova folder from /data/app to /system/app and change the permission to Owner RW/Group R/Other R. But after rebooting the phone, the already installed launcher apps were missing. I couldn't find them in the drawer or "Settings - Apps" but only in the /system/app folder, however I couldn't launch or install them from the folder anyway.
Then I tried to use Titanium Backup to convert them to system apps, it just stuck in the "processing" forever. So I shut down the Titanium and reboot the phone, then go into the /system/app folder and there's an launcher apk there, I installed it but it just couldn't function properly.
Do you guys know any other way to convert them to system app, or what I did wrong in the process? Any input would be appreciated.
Ever wonder why no custom ROMs use said launchers as default? Coz you can't.

How To Guide Change/Manage Fonts from Themes app

I struggled a bit to find Font management which is built-in feature of Themes app as I could access it through a notification that popped-up after downloading several fonts.
You can download and apply font by searching "Font" but to manage them you need to access the hidden activity.
How To :
1- Install Activity Launcher from play store (de.szalkowski.activitylauncher)
2- Launch the FontSettingsActivity within Themes app
3- from there you can delete/apply downloaded fonts
You can also access it if you change region to something like India

Click to collapse
those region based limitations are a cancer
