[Q] Whatsapp trial account - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone bought the extended version? I've only 10 days left

I have. It has the same features, just extends the service for 1 more year.
I think it's a good messenger app, it's feature-rich and also lots of my friends use it, so in my opinion is a good investment :silly:
What is your concern?

Hi,
I think purchase is the best option to get WhatsApp.
My account finishes soon as well.
How much they want anyway?
Good night.

Well... here's a tip... but its definitely not legal.... its how i got my subscription extended from free (2011) to 2021....
1. Have a jailbroken iphone/ipad
2. have an active whatsapp account on your android
3. Grab a free copy of whatsapp and side load it onto your ipad/iphone (not gonna teach you how to sideload apps on ipad/iphone, its totally illegal)
4. Run whatsapp on ipad/iphone... key in your phone number for your android phone.... If you are on ipad, it will tell you that whatsapp is not available on your ipad... if its iphone, it will work fine... dont worry, either case, it should get your service extended by 10 years....
5. Whatsapp will assume that you have purchased their $0.99 whatsapp version from the itunes store and automatically extend your service by 10 years....
*it may or may not work now, but its worth a try... thats how i accidentally gotten my service extended by 10 years...

Just buy the APP!
I never get this.It is one of the most usefull and popular apps of current times.
U guys use it every day then why cant u pay 1$ For it.I mean its like buying a can of coke.
Why do stuff like that ?Support the developers!

It's just 1 dollar, buy it, its worth it bigtime

Well, on android, its not a dollar... its $1.99 / year.... on my ipad, i sideloaded whatsapp only cos i thought i could use it on my ipad (which i realise that you cant find it on the app store, hence the side loading experiment)... Well, the experiment turned up some unexpected surprises, which i just shared... lol...

It's 99ct per year. I think it's disgusting to use a service and then trick the devs out of the ridiculously low fee for their awesome app.
Especially when you spent hundreds of dollars on a phone without a second thought.

cool got the 50gb too , just installed box app on my xps and got a popup about it after creating the account
Is there actually a Desktop application for this that integrates with Finder/Explorer? It seems like you have to upgrade and pay a monthly fee to use the official one on Mac/Windows ... which kind of makes 50 GB useless.
maybe this gladinet thing would do the trick, although I only use my box account to backup things from my phone.

I had existing account with Box.net and once i downloaded the app and logged in from my Xperia S, it automatically upgraded my account to 50 GB... but box sync is still asking for upgrade...

Looks like it could be OK, but really would prefer something official. It turns out you can just mount it as a network drive https://support.box.com/entries/20359428-does-box-support-webdav-or-ftp-connections. This seems to work quite well, but since it is a network drive it is noticeably slower than SkyDrives implementation.
There is a max file size of 100 MB, so this doesn't actually seem to be that useful as a backup solution. If you are just backing up your phone then this is probably OK...but the other free solutions like Dropbox seem like better alternatives.

That's it. You install it to your device from the market (using your PC) and it uses GPS or cell towers to locate your phone. And I believe it refreshes every ten or so minutes.

I believe Androidlost can be remotely installed also but is buggy with certain phones. It can locate the phone like Plan B but has tons of other features.

Do you trust AndroidLost? The whole thing seems a little fishy, and at least one user reported hearing camera shutter sounds (the kind that are made when you take a screenshot or front facing camera photo, a function available in AndroidLost) - this was shortly before the dev removed the sound making function when taking remote FFing stills.

Not at all and neither do I trust Viber and it's shady dev or lot's of other apps on the market. I don't keep Androidlost installed all the time but after playing around with it, I can see where it could be very useful tool for after the fact locating a lost or stolen phone.

Creepy nexus/google

I got my yesterday. It was real late, so I opened up just to check if it was not broken etc.....
Then something occurred to me, my nexus 10 per-configured. At no time did I go through the initial setup as I would do for a new phone or other tablets. This out of the box tablet, unused by me, had all my emails synced, all my apps installed, and it even connected to my home wifi network without ever asking for the wep key ?
Is this normal ? Cause its very very creepy.

It defaults to checked I believe.
I had the option checked and my account wasn't linked.
which is fine because that's what I actually wanted.
Just think, that when they ship them preconfigured (which is hard to believe because that would mean someone has to unpack them and upload all the stuff) and the devices get stolen or "kidnapped" these people would get access to your google account
Google already knows everything about you... doesn't matter what you tick.
Yeah I've found lots of things creepy but also. I think knowing all my wifi passwords was pretty creepy cause those aren't something you really get to choose if Google saves... Google now seems to be affected by what I do on my android phone such as recent navigation paths show up as new cards on tablet.

I was a little disappointed that although I selected the option, mine hadnt been set up.
Wasn't disappointed long though cause I just unlocked and rooted it, which factory reset anyway.

It doesn't come pre-configured nor they unpack them and upload all the stuff. At the time of shipping the Serial Number is linked to your account you purchase from. Turning it on, it reads your Serial Number and configures it for your account.

Are you saying that Google has your WiFi password?
And it gives this password to their employees to pre-configure your device before shipment?
Imagine, the cost to Google, with the labor being so expensive in the USA, to open each box, take out the wrappings, configure your device, and wrap it again like a brand new unit, with plastics, tape around the box and so forth.
Boggles the mind.
Best regards,
K guys I'm gonna try something new to me: Voice of reason.
Maybe there's a special NFC code that wakes the device and has it connect to some WiFi that is nearby and configure then shut down. If that is the case, all they would need to do is have Samsung ship the devices in a state that would accept a NFC wake (could even be a special hardware wake circuit), scan the device to your order, and leave the box in a WiFi accessible location for an hour and it should all be able to have downloaded. No need for a greasy Google goon to touch your device or know your WiFi passkey. Samsung can seal the box, and Google can just shove info into your tablet from its database. G would never pay an army of people to unbox and play with a million tablets, I am certain.
Do keep in mind that any data that Google has in their database is recoverable - i.e., your privacy being safe just because someone didn't have an opportunity to scribble your wpa2 key down is a naïve notion... Keep your digital life as private as you are comfortable with everyone knowing.

As far as I remember if you don't uncheck the syncing options your WIFI password is stored in your google account when setting it up.

Ummm! OK! Data (pictures, musics, etc...) I understand you can save and move it over to iPhone 4S. But how are you going to save the game data and play the game from Android to iPhone? Titanium Backup would be great if you are going from one android phone to the other. Does iPhone even have Final Fantasy Dimensions game in their Apps store? Just wondering. Is the game data saved locally on your phone or on the server (meaning you'll have to sign-in to play)?

Lol i think im letting my love of the original 4(Brought when released) get the best of me. But I dont see many options for android when it comes to high end devices thats LTE compatable(What I want in a android phone) at the price range of 300 bucks(On craigslist/ebay). The best phones seem to be the Galaxy s3,HTC One X or the iphone 5. I dont want the One X because of lack of external memory, the s3 everyone has -_-...want to be a little unique and well I was looking at the Sony TL and the battery life doesnt seem to have any praise.

ROFLOL... @ STravers - unique? I don't think so. iPhone is the trends (fads), that is not being unique. You might as well waited for the SIV. Supposedly coming in a few months ahead. How to activate 4 month youtube premium?

I follow the instructions to get YouTube Premium under my account - however only a 1 month trial offer is available. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I also went to youtube.com/premium/samsung and get the same result - 1 Month. Please advise.
Thanks,
I believe if you ever had the 3 months free offer before, it won't let you use it again on the same email/I'd.
It was like the free 1 year onedrive offer that you would get with Samsung devices.
If you used it once it wouldn't let you get another unless you use a different email.

you right, i logged in Youtube with a different email, it shows 4 free month trial, i thinking of going this route. i love to save money, 4 months free is like 40$ for Youtube Music.
ah ok. But I don't think that I ever signed up to any free trial in my case, so not sure what is happening here.

I know that when you first boot the app it offers 1 month...but I believe if you go into settings and select Get Youtube Premium it offers more. What's weird is that I thought it was 4 months as well. Maybe the 2 offers stack? I wont be redeeming the offer since I already have an account with premium.
