LG Intuition root information
Hello to all, I receive my phone on monday, and im coming from a rooted/rom/oc'ed Samsung Infuse 4g, Xoom, SII, and countless cheap tablets all tweaked so I cant wait to get into the guts of this phone but first I need root. Im no dev or coder but definetly not a noob so hopefully somebody takes the file im gonna upload and see if it actually works. Searching by the Japanese name of Optimus Vu p895 I found a "one click'' root for the phone that im gonna post. They also claim to have the bootloader unlocked also to have a custom recovery like CWM but I havent found anything yet about that. I hope the dev's and rom guys get to this phone because to me it looks like the perfect pocket powerhouse imo.
THIS IS MEANT FOR DEV'S OR THE CURIOUS TO SEE IF IT WORKS. ANYTHING HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE IS NOT MY FAULT.
This site was found by a simple google search, and the "super one-click" is meant for Android 2.3.5, hopefully one of you guys can make it work for 4.0.4 I dont get my phone til monday after thanksgiving so ill try it myself then.
the file is not uploading so the site is ninjaromeo . com /root-lg-optimus-vu-p895/

LG Intuition Root VIDEO Instruction
Performed a google search, with zero results found. Wondering if anyone has the ability to create a youtube step by step root instruction (for not so secure rooters), like myself. I have rooted four other devices but with each I had a video to refer too.
Thank You!

Yeah, no worries. How much do you know about development? I am not new to rooting, but I was so excited about removing bloatware that I removed a little too much and now I'm probably going to have send mine in for warranty. Any chance you know how to pull a system .img so I could reflash mine??? lol
I'll PM you just in case you dont see this.

Yeah I heard that if you remove a certain "bloatware " app it activates another verizon lock app, and once the phone is turned off it locks the phone up. I completly removed all verizon apps and the "lockout" so hopefully i wont have the that problem.
But ive flashed many other devices but i dont know how to put up the system image. It cant be that difficult, im gonna google and youtube it to find out how. I believe there is another thread on xda with the lg intuition system image also. But ill try to get that to you tonight if possible. One quick question....once you have the image how are you gonna flash it?, i thought the bootloader was locked, or is there a program like odin for LG?

Yeah, I'm luckily not locked out of the phone, but it would be nice to have a clean install. The boot loader is locked, and to my knowledge there is no Odin like program, but I was able to pull my .IMG a while ago. I'm hoping I can just push a clean .IMG, hard reset and call it good. I'll check when I get home to see if I can find how I did it.

Update: phone died...charged it up....turned on... received a security error. I deleted Verizon apps or something that triggered this. I returned the phone and within an hour rooted the new one without touching the Verizon apps.
This is not something new with LG phones I'm hearing. But if you go to developer options and turn on CPU stats it annoying to me that the phone is constantly sending messages to LG and Verizon servers and basically going ape**** in the background. So until the bootloader gets unlocked and a Rom is available I'm going with droidwall as a firewall and stock root. I wouldn't touch the Verizon apps or even quarantine IMO.

I finally got mine done. Went with a one click option that I found on youtube. It truly was a one click (well actually two) and it immediately gave me root priv. At any rate, download Titanium and then "freeze" the bloatware that you don't want. This way also prevents them from hogging cache and RAM. But, it doesn't trigger the commie Verizon bootloader locks. As of yet, ODIN does not support this device, but gooManager does. Haven't tried to flash yet, but it's downloaded and just sitting there....I'm afraid to pull the trigger. I wish I could remember the link...I typed "how to root android 4.0.4" and it was like the third or fourth option. I tried and tried and tried JCase's method, but got caught in the shell because it wouldn't verify lgroot.sh file was in place. It was. Looking forward to developing. Im in IT in college as a non-trad so expect a lot of questions you guys.

LG intuition Root 4.04 Help!
Can someone help me root my LG VS950 its been updated to 4.04 and I can't get it rooted using Bin4ry or Jcase suggestions so for... Others said it works with the 4.04 update, I just can't figure out what I may be doing wrong... when it gets to the reboot part and ask me to hit restore it starts and stops I about 5 seconds and nothing happens.. I added a pic of what it said when I tried to root using bin4ry method.. hopefully one of you can decipher this for me and help me find a solution...
P.S. and to be clear what USB connection type do I select (MTP, PTP, Internet Connection, or Charging) after I turn debugging mode on. and do I need to factory reset before I root?
Any other minor tid-bits would also be helpfull thanks..
Thanks in advance!

Here is how you fix it.
Power up the phone holding Power, Volume Up and Volume Down until Download Mode appears on the phone.
Connect the phone with the usb cable to the computer.
Use the LGMobile Support Tool and go to Customer Support -> Recovery Phone.
Follow the onscreen instructions from there.
This will download and reload your phone. Takes about 30 minutes total. All data will be lost.
Hopes this helps people.

Does this have anything to do with rooting the phone? Your response was @ no one in particular so i wanted to be sure before followed your directions

This is when you root it and you delete bloatware that it doesnt like. When the phone restarts and it shows that there is a Security Error, Can not find morningcall meaning a soft brick. The method that I gave gets your phone back up and running. It does wipe the phone so be prepared.

It shows the device connected and then I get an error when it is checking the information. It validates the esn, cell phone number, then right before it errors out it says its looking for LG PC-sync software. All drivers are installed. Any ideas?

I successfully got mine rooted but Bricked on restart due to Vz security software. I posted Step by Step restore in case of brick.

This method just does not want to work for me......I chose all rooting options and it keeps saying it can't mount, and file does not exist. I will try to post a screen shot when I get home but it is very similar to Peter Bishop but I am not even getting the prompt to add busy box, it says "confirm backup", "confirm restore", and then reboots and says it is done....but Root Checker says the device is not rooted. I am trying this on V31 of the root program.
Here is what is hangs on:
Device type:
1) New Standard-Root <thx Ariel Berkman>
2) New Xperia Root by Goroh_jun <Xperia Z, XperiaV [JellyBean] ...>
3) Old
4) Old-Special <for example: Sony Tablet S, Medion Lifetab>
G) Google Glass Mode <thx Saurik for the ab file>
x) Unroot
Make a choice: 1

*OLD TUTORIAL*
Warning Just to let you know that this will Void your warranty you should already know that
Also this may look really long but its short just somewhat really specific
Hello Fellow Optimus L9 Users today I Bring you a tutorial on how to unlock bootloader the noob version for those who are new to rooting and stuff because there is another one that is more complicated and less specific but if you want to check it out heres
the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198114
Okay First to let you know that when you flash V20B_00.kdz the screen will get kind
of funky everything will be inverted and backwards so dont worry. And one more thing is
that when you boot up every single time after doing this the boot will be mirrored. Just
to let you know.
First Just want to thank "pinoyto" "Lelus" and "cmahendra"
Okay Now to Start Download the zip containing the files link here https://www.dropbox.com/s/uxwvkkp8yyyev0k/Bootloader Unlock .zip Files contained
in the zip are "Adb" "Recovery image" "V6.bin" and "V20_00.bin"
After youve downloaded extract the files to a folder for later use.
Now before we go to flash the V20.kdz enable "usb debugging"
Now go flash the kdz with this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36351786
1)Now after you've flashed then comes the screen problem just unlock and go throught the setup quickly
2) Connect your usb and make sure the usb debbuging icon pop-ups the little spider looking thing if thats enabled good
3) Okay next im not really sure if its needed but just do it change the usb
entrance to "LG Software Mode" to do this the simple way you need to disconnect usb and
connect again after than the options appear what type of usb entrance click on the back arrow
and it should select the "LG Software Mode"
4) Now we want to connect to the WiFi THIS IS NECESSARY FOR IT TO WORK go and connect to it
after that make sure you are connected by opening the browser or youtube and if a page or
video loads your set now go make yourself a coffee or some thing because now you have to wait
30 or more minutes
5) Ok now that the 30 minutes or more have passed you need to go to the downloaded files and move
the "Android" folder to your "C:\" drive "dont worry just has adb files" now open a command prompt and
type the following
"cd c:\Android"
"adb devices" to make sure your phone is connected a list of numbers should appear
"adb reboot oem-unlock" and your phone should then reboot
then the lg logo will appear then a mirrored confirmation to unlock bootloader just press
the "Volume Up" button and it will confirm it then hold the power button until it reboots
6) Now we need to go to "rooted 10g" again just go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465
and follow every single instruction but when you are about to enter the flashing process instead
of "Emergency" mode you need to put it to "Diag" mode and then start the flashing process
7) After you are done with that you cant boot so you must perform a wipe and the way of doing that
is too have phone off hold "Power button + Volume Down + Home Button" then you should see
a android with the little globe and a loading bar after its done it will turn off then
now reboot and after it boot it will be mirrored you can fix that but in my opinion it is a little more confusing
because the screen is still messed up the whole left side is inverted with the right side but if you still want to remove the mirror
you must press the power button once to turn off screen then again to turn on and it will be fixed but the touch is still inverted
8) Now go through setup and enable usb debugging and then u need to go to the superuser app
and if you dont have it you did not do the root process correctly go to it again "and if you need help just pm me"
open the app and update the binary after that go to your computer and open command promt again
and enter the following commands but before you must put the v6.bin file to your external sd card it is in the downloaded files after you have put it to the root
of your external sd card enter the following commands
"cd c:\Android"
"adb shell"
"su" when you enter this go to your phone and accept the su request
"cat /sdcard/external_sd/v6.bin > /sys/devices/virtual/input/lge_touch/firmware"
after you entered the last command you need to close that command promt and open
another one and type the following commands
"cd c:\Android"
"adb shell"
"su"
"reboot" then it will reboot and the touch will corectly work remember the mirrored problem will continue
to occur on your phone like i said just turn off screen then turn it on and it will be fixed
Now you have unlocked bootloader
If you want to install the cm10 rom the optimus L9 has as of right now you
have to do the following
1) Go to the app store and search for the app called "Nandroid Manager ROOT"
download the app and open it then go to flash recovery you must first put the recovery from the downloaded file to the
root of you external sd card and then go to the app and search for the recovery and flash it.
After you flash it you will have a recovery on your phone
(just to let you know it will be mirrored) but to boot to recovery you must turn off the phone
and then hold the "Volume UP + Home Button + Power Button"
now go download the cm10 rom from here " http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2216542 " put the file to the root of your sd card and then reboot to recovery and then to flash you will need to "wipe system, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache then flash" after you flash the zip reboot and you will have CM10 Hope This helped

Just unlocked bootloader on my phone. Looks like having SIM card with data is a must. Tried all day yesterday on WiFi, never worked. Finally bought a SIM unlock code on eBay and used my StraightTalk SIM card. Reverted back v10G, set everything up (had to type APNs manually), turned WiFi off and verified that data works. Flashed v20B again, verified that WiFi is still off and data is on, waited for about half hour. Unlocked on the first try.
So whoever is having troubles, looks like you just need working SIM with data and WiFi it not really necessary.

I have straight talk tmobile sim with no apn setup and WiFi on for it to work for me.
I kept waiting 30 mins x3 because I had taken my sim and SD card out due to fear of damage. So I second that keep the sim in and WiFi on (made a guest ssid for one click connect).
@nevkuril do you have st att or tmo? If tmo, I know its late but the tmo sim works without the need for carrier unlock.

Really sticky situation, bricked p769 phone

So I have an LG Optimus L9 phone from T-Mobile that I recently got, but it wouldn't let me save apps to my SD card, which really limited my space. Id rooted my previous Android phone, and I thought I could do it again.
So I tried unlocking my bootloader and rooting my phone using this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277639
But I guess one thing led to another and... Well, now when I start my phone, it just leads to a screen that says Encrypting and a button that says "Reset phone", and every single time it resets to this "Encrypting" screen. Every once in a blue moon, I can get it into CWM recovery screen, but I don't know what to do. I've been trying out multiple things, but I'm on the verge of losing my mind! Can anyone help me? I'd really appreciate it!
*UPDATE*
Good news! I used the LG Mobile Support tool to update my phone to V20H by using the advice below!
BOOTLOOPS? STUCK AT LG LOGO? : Dont worry!!! If you were on CM and flashed JB or vice versa or your data partition is not matching with new partitions, then your phone may get BOOTLOOPS on LG Logo.
HARD-RESET to solve it (Press VolDown, Home and Power all together) You will loose data, dont worry, before starting you took BACKUP and I am sure about it. Phone should start normally. (Click for correct method of HARDRESET)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344
So now it boots up fine and works! But now the touchscreen is wonky. That's normal from what the tutorial said, but at this point, I'm desperately just trying to bring my phone back to normal... Anyone know how I can fix the touchscreen issue, or restore back to normal from here?

Keep following the tutorial if you still want to unlock bootloader. Otherwise jump to the 2nd part of it (step 5 and on), to flash back to P769 rom and then apply (flash) touchscreen fix.

I just tried following the tutorial again, but I came across the same error I got the last time I tried (before I got myself into the encryption shenanigans). I was following the youtube tutorial that carloswii5 posted at the top of his written tutorial.
I got to the part where I had to install the recovery (At 13:37 of the video), but when I click the button to install it, I get this error:

Sorry for the terrible webcam picture. Any idea what this means, and how I can fix this? Where did I go wrong? And thanks again, people, I appreciate the help!

It appears you don't have root.
I'll send you a file to flash (once you get root & l9 recovery installed) to restore your touch screen & u-boot if you feel like throwing in the towel.

I actually got it up and running a while ago, thanks though, I really appreciate it!
Apprearently I had to flash my phone to V10G, root it, install the L9 recovery, and then follow the tutorial. I don't know how that slipped my mind, but I didn't try flashing it to V10G first.
Just for the sake of putting a resolution to this thread's issue, here's what I did.
1. I flashed my phone to V10G using cmahendra's tutorial here:
h ttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344
2. Then I rooted the phone using this Chinese tool that aristide1997 posted:
h ttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439667
(There might be a better way to root the phone, but that's how I did it)
3. Then I installed the L9 Recovery apk that I got from carloswii5's tutorial. (It's the last link, the mega.co.nz one, the all in one zip that ggfool politely posted)
h ttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277639
5. After that, I just followed carloswii5's youtube tutorial,
h ttp://youtu.be/WyNtFP_TkKc
and everything went smoothly from there.
Anyway, thanks for all the help you guys, I'm glad I finally got this problem sorted out, and can now install custom roms on my phone!

I am having similar problems to the one explained above...
Today my phone started giving me google service stopped working and calculator stopped working...so I restarted my phone. when it powered back up it got stuck on the LG Logo Screen...once in a while it will go to the encryption screen with the reset phone button and does nothing if I push it. I have tried to hard reset the phone by doing the Volume Down + Home Button + Power button all at the same time. When I push all three after removing the battery to make sure the phone is powered down, it just vibrates and powers up to the LG Logo screen again and sits there. I am really frustrated at this point and heart broken because I really like this phone. I have had the phone a little over a year now. So it is out of warranty. For some reason it is not getting seen when I connect it to my computer via USB cable. I do not understand all the conversation about re-rooting and such. I am not all that tech savvy, so I need simple instructions.

I tried the LG Mobile Support Tool....unfortunately because the phone is not booting up all the way, my computer is not being seen. I ended up going out and replacing the phone with another phone. This was the second time that something like this happened to that phone. The first time it automatically started an System Update without my input and I was not in a good coverage area and not hooked to a Wi-Fi at the time and then my battery dies midway through. This lead to the phone being stuck without the software fully downloaded. Had to send it to LG for a little over a week to completely wipe the phone and re-install the software. It was under warranty at that time. This time the warranty was out of date. I will still see if there is anything that they can do for it. I went with another LG, but bought the extended warranty through the store where I bought it, not making that mistake again.
Hi thejenibear, thanks for your feedback.
Cheers. Good luck.

[MetroPCS] LG Optimus L9 P76910b [Encrypting and com.android.phone]

Ok, where to begin. so i rooted my phone fine. i was trying to attempt to apply some hacks to swap external sdcard with internal but everything said i have to change my bootloader. rooted fine with some Chinese program. i tried rom toolkit for the bootloader unlocker. reboots, but nothing. so i found an APK file that you run on the phone itself, that you hit an unlock button and it reboots. it said it supported my model etc. but now when i turn it on it goes past the MetroPCS screen into a white screen with "Encrypting" and a button saying "Reset Phone". then an error pops up that says "com.android.phone has stopped" then it sits there forever.
Well, i did figure out that if you let the battery die down a warning message pops up like normal warning of low battery. it gives options to hit OK or Battery Use. if i hit battery use it takes me into the settings menu. i can change anything from there. i tried a factory reset from there and nothing. i tried hard reset [buttons] and nothing. i tried flashing the 10B_00.kdz using AIO Toolkit and it fails saying my phone isn't connected. so oi go back into settings and enable debug etc etc, reboot and then try....same failure. doesnt recognize. i uninstalled and reinstalled pc suite, LGUnited mobile drivers......nothing nothing nothing. i have seen others with same issue and they end up recovering....but not me. am i supposed to flash 10B kdz? that's what my settings say i have. LGMSP76910b or something like that. all firmware sites the p769 model is TMOBILE....can i try flashing a tmobile kdz for my phone and it NOT mess up my metro service? i have tried the update tool....nothing.
My wife has been threatening to kill me so please help. i can only say "Woman! get your ass back in the kitchen and make me a sammich!" a few more times before she realizes all she has to do is whop me over the head with a pan....or broom.....or my broken LG Optimus.....help.

You performed the online restore method.
In order to get the offline flash to work, you need to use the unofficial fastboot and restore an ice cream (p769) x-loader & u-boot. Then perform the offline flash.
There is a problem with jellybeans x & u, and performing the s/w upgrade starting from a cold boot.
The only way for the offline flash flash to work and still be on a jellybean (x-loader & u-boot) the phone must be operating properly and turned on normally (plus it needs to be in the lg software mode).
Finding this information is not easy, because the main sticky threads are out dated.
I've posted this information so many times. I'm like a broken record.

Setup the program put your phone in s/w mode (hold vol + then enter the USB cable into your computer). Enter the information and wait a really long time.
Please don't do anything else while performing the restore. Also make sure your computer doesn't go to sleep during the whole process.

So I'm having the same issues as OP and this is apparently the only thread on the internet where anyone is experiencing this issue. MetroPCS 769 running JB. The phone POSTs and gets to the metroPCS carrier screen but goes to a white screen that just says "encrypting" with a blank progress bar, and that one app crashing. Every other reboot I get the Android recovery screen with the robot and a progress bar, and it reboots back to the "Encryping" screen. I can't even force the phone into a recovery or factory reset mode.
When I run the LG software updater, it says the software on my phone is up to date. There's a menu item for "Download recovery" which detects my phone, and acts like it's downloading something but never finishes. Any idea on how to proceed from here?

Trying to go back to Stock P769

I recently installed CyanogenMod with the Unlock Bootloader for noobs and I noticed the internal SD wasn't mounted. So I tried to flash an ICS ROM to see if it would work but it didn't. I was stuck at the boot screen. I tried restoring an ICS CWM backup and a JB backup but it didn't work. Currently, I have a flashed JB backup with a messed up touchscreen (because of the way I unlocked the boot-loader). It won't boot and I don't know how I can install the stock ROM. I really just want my phone to work at this point. I don't know if there's any way to use the offline method to flash a .kdz since I can't access android. I tried hard resetting, but when I do it starts up Clock Work Mod which I believe happens because of the way I unlocked boot-loader.
I'm trying to use this guide to fix it using SW upgrade. I did find a .bin and .fls which i'm downloading right now.
If anyone could help or give some advice that would be great. I really just want to use my phone, I don't care about flashing a custom ROM right now. As long as my phone works, I'll be happy.

Let me know if this works for you! Also you can do the offline fix just as long as you can get into S/W Upgrade mode. But I am curious to see if you can use the bin/fls files tool that you mentioned to get your phone working again.

Well just get your phone into S/W Upgrade mode and follow this tutorial. Getting into S/W Upgrade:
1. Get stock ROM here.
2. Turn off your phone
3. Press and hold the vol + button while inserting USB to computer
4. Keep holding the vol + until you see the S/W upgrade mode
5. Flash ROM with tutorial mentioned above.
Good Luck!

Isn't that just an infobank of all the KDZs? I'm pretty new, but can you flash a kdz with the offline method? To clarify, I was asking how to flash the kdz with the offline method in S/W upgrade mode. So ROMs/KDZs are essentially the same, right?
Edit: I read everything over again and realized what KDZs really are. I'm just wondering now if I could just hard reset in some other way because the LG Update Tool doesn't recognize my phone even though I see all the drivers. It's stuck at 15%.
Edit 2: I tried the method I suggested and it resulted with "Magic number does not concide".
So I'm stuck here with a phone that is stuck in bootloop, and has CWM installed. Can anyone help?

alright, this is all from memory but the offline flash didnt work as well for me when stuck in weird bootloops.
Step one-going back to online flash---->
A---
the easiest way i found was to go to C:/windows/system32/drivers/ect/hosts
right click>open with notepad
there should be two lines at the bottom
"127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com
127.0.0.1 csmgdl.lgmobile.com"
i would cut them out and paste them in a text doc in the same folder for reference later...
but either way you should remove them from the hosts file and save
B----
Make sure your small server is closed! once you minimize it it should go down to your status bar (shttps)
Step two-LGMS---->
make sure you have LG mobile support installed or install it.
open lg mobile support
install needed drivers for your phone
power your phone off/remove the battery
put battery back in
connect it to your computer holding down the volume up button
S/W UPDATE mode should pop up, if it doesn't preform and hardreset and try again til it works (it will)
then in the top right corner there should be a button or two click them both until you see
"restore update" or Update restore or something to that effect
select that
and let it ride man
i got my phone ****ed many times and just had to keep redoing this until it worked. if your bootloader is truely unlocked you can probably go through all that again and get CM10 working, i did but im still working through kinks.....

I was reading the CM10.2 notes yesterday and I realized there isn't supposed to be an internal SD card showing up when you plug in your phone to your PC. So I did tried fixing what wasn't broke.

Such a late reply, sorry! I did nothing. Before you replied I flashed CM10.2 but never bothered to boot up my phone. Preparing to connect my phone to my comp, I couldn't start CWM so I figured " I'll just leave my phone plugged in for a few hours." Two hours later, my phone has a blank screen, i'm thinking "This shouldn't be blank? What the hell?." I pressed the power button and was greeted with Cid. I screamed out loud: "**** yeah!"
If people have the same problem as me all I did was: Reflash my my phone with 10.1, stock, 10.1 again, and then 10.2. I did that, only that.
What's funny is that I never checked to see if my phone was working after I flashed CM10.2. :silly:
Can't wait for Kit-Kat. Thank you for keeping up with my post, CROSSFREEZE I appreciate it!
Edit: I might submit a really specific and simplified version of the "Unlock Bootloader for Noobs P769" for the take of contributing.

Root for Samsung Galaxy Express Prime?

Hey all, been on this site for awhile now and did a lot of work with my HTC M8 which had a lot of options. Now.. i know this device is fairly new so there probably isnt much development yet, but i was wondering if anyone knows of a root method that actually works? The closest i have gotten is with iRoot which just makes my phone freeze at the boot screen. Thanks in advance!
btw my phone is an at&t model
I suddenly find myself in need of a new phone. I was looking at the same model, but wanted to try and make sure whatever I buy can be rooted. I found...
http://www.sadroid.com/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-express-prime-in-5-minutes/
Have you tried that one? No idea if it works. Like I said just trying to find a sure fire method before I spend the money.
Yes I have unfortunately with undesirable results. Great phone and very speedy for the price. (Touch wiz) but hey it's cheap. I've currently tried kingroot, iRoot, poot, towelroot, and framaroot? But got the closest with iRoot it just freezes after the last reboot... I do believe there might be a way with Odin? But I'm not sure fire with Samsung touchwiz products mostly HTC sense. I'm gonna do more research today and ill get back with some results.
Update:
It seems there is on oem unlock feature in the developer options. Problem is I can't boot into the boot loader from the stock recovery. It starts to then just reboots as normal. If i can get into the boot loader I'm sure I can use fastboot to unlock and maybe make an iroot application work?

Use king root latest version. Needs internet while rooting. No PC required.

Just tap try root.
Best of luck

Doesn't work for the Galaxy express prime. This phone is a newer model.

i think i have found a cwm for galaxy express prime will let oyu know if it works or if i brick my phone
Recently had to replace my HTC with a cracked screen that I had rooted for a long time. I got this Express Prime as a replacement. It's frustrating not having root powers on my cell. I'm voting for a root as well..have tried many different methods before searching. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
The closest I got was 70% on King Root PC
The closest I got was 70% on King Root PC. The mobile version didn't even let me try.
King Root (mobile version) now has the "Try to root" button at the "root strategy unavailable" screen. I tried it, but at 20% the app says "Network Error - Unable to get root strategy from cloud". The thing is, is I was on 4G LTE. I tried WiFi to see if that was what it wanted. Same outcome. This was on 7/20/16.
Today (7/22/16), I received an app notification from King Root saying "The app 'Knox Security' will effect root strategy. Disable it?". The issue with that is you can't disable it. I tried looking up how to without root, and the official Samsung Knox site first said to tap Knox in the app drawer. But there is not a shortcut to launch Knox in the app drawer. So I'm guessing with Knox there can't be root. If someone can figure out how to disable it then we'll be good. I'm going to try to root with the PC version again and see what happens since the mobile version got the "Try to Root" button. I will post the outcome after I try.
Update: Rebooted my Samsung Galaxy Express Prime and then launched King Root (mobile version). It got to "Root unavailable" screen and "Try to Root" button was gone. The app said "request sent" and "not enough requests" as usual.
Sorry about your lack of luck. I'm surprised there is no root for this device yet. Galaxy Express Prime should be fairly common now. I solved a problem with running out of storage by using adaptable storage to make the system see my SD card as Internal Memory, but still. .it's so limited without root control.
SRS root?
I found a tweet. One in June and one from today. I can't post the link bc I'm new but if you go to @srsroot on twitter then ctrl-f on the page using j320a it will come up. and there are a few diff builds posted but mine matches.
The link comes up by google as maybe containing harmful programs. But I suspect that is because it roots google OS? I'm not sure if this works. I'm new to rooting. But I may give it a shot. Has anybody else tried this? Is this legit?

I wouldn't unless it's an official root. Roots the GoogleOS? Rooting is for your cell phone's particular OS for your particular cell phone.
