[Q] Hulu support? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Anyone know about this?

Not sure if it'll be a supported device, but you can always just use this modded version here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449110
Its always worked on every device I've tried.

not sure if this is related to a network issue, but there were other people saying that hulu doesn't work that well and studders.

Installs and starts on the Vibrant. All features appear to work with the exception of streaming at the moment. Even without streaming, I find it to be a very useful app.
I can also confirm working on vibrant, Pretty useful. Cant wait for it to be updated with streaming video.
netflix, lol
I am more than willing to bet that all that is needed is for them to flick a switch on (if they wanted too). After installing the app, go sign into your Netflix account and check out your authorized devices. My device was identified by it being an Android device and when you click it for details, you get our phone's model number. The funny thing is that it says the word 'obsolete' by the type of device it is. I know that phones without a particular type of snapdragon won't work, but if it weren't for all this extra silly security they want, I know it would work for us, lol!
---------
BTW, the message you get after you attempt to stream: "Sorry we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later. If the problems persists please visit netflix.com. (1005)" - Has anyone tried to call Netflix and ask them what this means? Lol, I know that I won't!
I wrote this in the other thread...
"Could the issue be related to our Vibrants not passing a DRM check? I'm pretty t I read when that a DRM check was needed to stream with Netflix (and also the upcoming Hulu app).
Maybe someone can rip out the coding the requires the check."
Maybe a mod should merge these two threads.
Not an actual working app...plus there is another thread with the same topic in General

[Q] Asphalt 5 on gtabcombover 3.4.1

I had purchased Asphalt 5 from Amazon for my g tablet when I was running Tnt 4.40 and it worked fine. I just installed gtabcombover 3.4.1 and now all I get is a box that briefly displays "Sorry, cannot play video." Does anyone have any ideas on getting it to work? Their support is useless; they just say that the g tablet isn't a supported device and to talk to Amazon because they shouldn't have sold it.
There is a decent chance that you won't be able to get it to work on GTabCombOver because, like all the other current honeycomb roms, it doesn't support hardware accellerated video. But run GetLogs right after running Asphalt and get me the result. I'll look at it and see if there is a possible fix.
Thanks for the reply...I kind of wondered if it wasn't hardware accelleration related.
Anyway, I've got GetLogs installed but can't find any information on what to do with it. I've got all three check boxes checked. There are 3 buttons: Add (for a mask string), PasteBin!, and Just a File. I've clicked on all of them but don't know what it is doing. I assume it is creating a file somewhere but what is the file called and where is it?
The file should be in /sdcard/Android/apps/com.GetLogs/data/. You can see the GetLogs thread for more information on GetLogs.
Weird. GetLogs wouldn't work so I downloaded the source and stepped through it. Then it worked. Anyway, I've PM'd the log to you.

Natwest App

I'm currently using the latest MiniCM7 on my X10 mini.
The one app I'm really missing is the official Natwest App. It doesn't appear in the market on my phone and if I look it up on the android market on my computer then I am told it is incompatible. I'm just curious as to whether people on other ROMS are able to download it? Maybe I could modify something to make it compatible.
Apparently a lot of people have had similar problems, trying to run a UK banking app on anything other than a stock ROM.
I had a quick Google hunt about this and quite a few people suggest using the app, Bank Control, which apparently works with Natwest as well as some other banks. Some have talked about editing the phone's build.prop as well.
Not much help, I know, but hopefully this may be useful to you.
I've been reluctant to try Bank Control as its not officially supported by Natwest. I've finally given it a go and now can't register with it for some reason.
I'm interested in modifying the build.prop. People seem to have had success on other phones by editing the ro.build.fingerprint. Could somebody post that line from a stock X10 mini so I could give it a go? Or could I use the ro.build.fingerprint from a different phone without it affecting anything?
Well, I could..but it might be easier if I just gave you the whole thing and you can pick the bits you need..
I've had to zip it because .prop files can't be attached here.
Worked like an absolute charm, thanks a lot!
In case anyone searches for this I changed the ro.build.fingerprint line to
Code:
ro.build.fingerprint=SEMC/U20i_1238-7173/U20i/delta:2.1-update1/2.1.1.A.0.6/-X_d:user/release-keys
Didn't have to change anything else.
No problem, I'm glad it worked out.

[Q] CM9 Video Issue

Very sorry if this is a repost or in the wrong place, new here.
I've currently running the stable version of CM9 however, no TV apps are working. Whether it be Netflix, TVcatchup or iPlayer, they just won't work.
I can browse the app for as long as I like but as soon as I press to watch something the screen goes black, audio DOES work and the phone just seems to go into spasm.
Is there a known fix for this at all?
Thanks,
Jay!
As I understand it, these issues are related to DRM. Stock ROMs have some specific components that custom ROMs don't, which is why some features are not functional, such as TV out of FM radio. They are drivers that Samsung has never released, and probably never will. Netflix cares more about securing their content than they do about whether you enjoy the experience of using their product on your device. They've declined support for a Linux client for much the same reasons as above.
For future reference, the CM9 thread is a better place to ask these sorts of questions. Mods may move this thread accordingly.

Root Tether

I realize there are multiple threads on this. But unless I'm blind - which I may be - I can't find a final solution.
I can not tether on my rooted DNA. WiFi Tether does not work. I have tried multiple versions. I don't know if it makes a difference, but the MSSClamping option is not available. Even still, it won't start.
I've tried 1-Click - that says it requires a subscription.
I've tried FoxFi. That sets up some VPN tunnel then doesn't start.
Any leads for a successful solution?
I have several rooted Roms posted with native tethering enabled, since most 3rd party apps no longer work on kit Kat.
So, the best solution, which works, is to run a Rom with native tethering enabled for all users or modify the Rom you're running to do the same.

Thank you. Unfortunately I'm in an area cursed with the Verizon Trolling of custom ROMs. Anything other than Stock Root results in SMS sending issues.
I'm not a programmer by any stretch, but have been modifying phones for a while based on all of you wizards' work. Is modifying the current ROM a "simple" task?
A little research has shown there is an "entitlement hack" for other phones. Does that hack exist for the DNA?
Still searching...

Just a stab in the dark fur you but.. I would think that sms/mms problems would be from your setup(apn, system selection etc.) and if big brother is tagging you I suggest a firewall.. That said were all pretty much on or used Verizon /Santods rom my tether works great..
Im going to start a thread about every ones ideas..

Thanks a bunch. You may find a thread of mine buried deep on here somewhere about this problem back in Feb/March. I had just gotten my DNA and ended up with the issue of not being able to send. It became a general consensus that VZW was testing some sort of blacklisting of custom ROMs in certain areas. I've not heard of a solution yet. I've tried multiple ROMs, all with the same outcome.
I look forward to your thread and whatever brainstorming comes from it.
Thanks!

Are you saying that "Tether hacked for all users" on the NuSenseSIX ROM will allow me to use what appears to be native tethering... and I won't be charged an additional fee from my wireless carrier?
Thanks for all of your hard work.

That's correct.
Any love on this? Someone point me in the right direction to get sms working on a ROM other than stock?
