Best place to buy retail? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I'm on a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon and this signal and battery is just plain awful.
Can't even enjoy full brightness without dying in 3 hours.
I don't have an upgrade til next summer so I want to buy full retail.
Where is the best or cheapest place to do so?

eBay most likely.
I would just buy it at BB or VZW though.

A VZW Corporate store is going to be the best place to buy full retail IMO. Many 3rd party retailers won't even sell a phone at full retail, and if they do, the price is higher than what VZW charges. You could try eBay, but I would be sure to only go with high rated sellers.

Okay cool. I was looking at Best Buy cause of reward zone points and they have a good return policy.
Not too worried about return policy cause regardless where I buy, I still get insurance on my phone.
So I'll have to definitely check out the VZW corporate store. Have one right done the street

Bestbuy does do the price match however, which if you wanted the reward points would be a good way to go. I'm interested to see if you could get by with using the international version on Amazon for price match, and see if they'd notice. Meh worth a shot possibly since it's cheaper full retail. Either way they'll at least match Verizon's and others price.

The international version was $589 off-contract (retail), this was on newegg with a coupon. The only places I would trust besides VZW corporate stores are newegg, Best Buy, and Amazon (Sold by amazon). The good thing about the Note II international deal on newegg is that they provide an extended warranty and price match with Iron Egg, so I would go for Newegg probably.
For reference, the deal is dead now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...ction-_-cables-_-na-_-na&Item=N82E16875176414
Edit: from the iron egg info page: We're also automatically extending our return policy to January 31, 2013 for qualifying Iron Eggâ„  products.
http://promotions.newegg.com/ironegg2012/index.html

Ebay, I wouldnt trust Craiglist and Best Buy is overpriced.

Vzw will let pay it over 12 months with a $2 a month finance charge since you are buying full price. No early payment penalty either. So full price divided by 12 with $2 extra a month. Or try on swappa.com. guaranteed clear ESN.

[Q] Best Place To Buy The Rezound?

Just curious if anybody had any opinions on where the best place to buy this beast would be? So far I'm thinking Amazon Wireless. The Rezound is $200 there and the phone that I will be getting for the wife is free. Beyond that any possible price match scenarios? Thanks in advance for your advice!
If you want it now, then a corporate Verizon Store. If you can wait, then Amazon as its cheaper and you could save on tax.
Wal-mart! If they have it in stock. It's like 220 - 230...
radioshack.com & wirefly.com have it for $249.
wireless.amazon.com has it for $229 (upgrade), $199 (new contract)
I went to Best Buy and had them price match Amazon's price of $229 for my upgrade. Great deal IMO.
I got it with the Accessory Bundle from VZW Store when the opened Monday morning for $288 total on upgrade. But, I had a $50 discount and I am a Veteran(15% Discount)... lol
wirefly.com has it for $220 for new contract. Free FedEx and no sales tax I believe. And they have the double your data offer available too.
Thanks everyone for your input...I'm seriously at war with myself about getting either this or waiting for the Nexus, I just can't decide!

$100 Amazon gift card with Hot Spot plan!
Hey! I was just checking on the Amazon price and they added a new incentive!
If you add a Hot Spot to your service at activation you get a $100 Amazon Gift Card. I don't see any fine print stating how long you have to have the Hot Spot feature. For what I was looking at it costs $20 more per month so even if I keep it for 1 month that's an $80 "discount" on the phone. Brings it down from their current $200 to $120. And I don't think Amazon taxes phones and there's free 2 day shipping.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?docId=1000745951
And they too have the double data available on their site.
I think I'm about to check out and complete purchase!
Is there anywhere where the retail price is slightly lower than the $650 verizon is asking for?

Craigslist or eBay lol.
I wonder if it occurs to HTC that the lack of S-off and root could effect sales.
Verizon is certainly being rather pricky about not letting me upgrade early...I've gotta wait until December 27th.
I'm on three discontinued plans...unlimited data, the $39.95 Friends and Family phone service, and 500 texts for $5. I don't want to mess with that.

same...i have to wait till like January 4th
I did the Amazon 1 cent deal. It's real. No tax, rebate, shipping charges, nothing! They actually charged my card .01! It's due here tomorrow. And unless there's a rock in the box, I'm prolly gonna like that deal.
I also got in on the 1 cent deal from amazon wireless and waiting for mine as well, it runs til the 28th so if you want to save 200-300 bucks prob the best deal you'll get
Just remember, it's for new customers only. Will not work for upgrade.

Best Buy prices it at $749 but I'm reading everyone getting unsubsidized at $649

Just wondering why Best Buy is charging more. I will ultimately pay everything subsidized price, but am taxed on the $749 price.
Do you have a link?

That's why I decided to go with AT&T, since it was $100 cheaper than what Best Buy offers for full price.
Because that's the price we got them at. it sucks because if we got them at 650 my employee price would be around 500 if you're buying outright though we will gladly price match atts 650

Subsidized: BB making money on your monthly bills. It adds up nicely for 2 years.
Unsubsidized: BB making money on phone sale only.
Most 3rd party retailers ask more than AT&T's list price for unsubsided price.
This is not a surprise. Bestbuy's unsubsidized prices are always way over everyone else's. The same can be said for pretty much any product they carry.

True. It's better to buy the phone outright from AT&T itself. Although BB has one of the best prices when it comes to upgrades, after awhile when it goes down, of course. I've never used Wal-Mart to upgrade, even though I heard they have the lowest price when it comes to upgrades.
I have always been successful in getting Best Buy to match the ATT store price on no commitment prices. Best Buy has no restock fee just in case you are not 100% you will keep the phone, which I am never sure when buying no commitment. Plus, it is easier to get gift cards from Best Buy...
As far as being taxed for $749, sounds like a state issue...

That does suck. They are not required to do it. The one I shop at has like 3 ATT stores within 5 miles so they call to make sure the phone is in stock at the ATT store and then they discount the phone to match.
Maybe find a BB with ATT stores close by?

I'll do that next year once I'm due for my upgrade. I'm going to use it to get the S3 once it comes out and see if anyone would price match it. Although I'm not hopeful.
The Note was the one thing that was going to get me to upgrade and renew my at&t contract...which I hadn't done since 2007 with the original iPhone.
But unless a 3rd party vendor drops the subsidized pricing rather soon to a more reasonable price, I won't upgrade.
On top of that, my current contract doesn't let me use LTE...due to APN issues. So I'm gonna wait to see if someone finds a way around that (if it's actually possible).
They don't make money off the subsidized phone over the 2 years. They get around $200-350 from the phone company after the sale.
I was a part of the group that started BB Mobile in 2006.

Thanks for clarify that. The main profit comes from the 2-year contract. What I didn't know is AT&T pay them up front.

Get your Note for far less with far more from Costco!

Good evening fellow XDA and AT&T SGN enthusiasts. Been off the scene here for a long while. I preordered my SGN from BB and will get it tomorrow. BUT, I've come onto a deal at my local Costco Wholesale warehouse I feel I needed to share as I'm planning to do it myself.
So here's the deal:
Costco will offer the SGN starting the 19th for home delivery. Usually 2 days to deliver. I know, bummer to have to wait.
Price for upgrades and new lines should be around 270-280. So less than AT&T and Best Buy. (I know the 50 gc) But the savings continue past that 50
IN ADDITION, you should have no upgrade fee(save 36), no restocking fee (save 35 if you decide to return it), possibly the first month of data free (save 30), 90 days to return versus the 30 by BB and AT&T, free accessory kit (includes car charger, screen protectors, belt holster/pouch).
All said and done, this is one heck of a deal. They will offer both White and Blue. The only downside is the wait. But if you didn't preorder and were or are planning to wait, and you have a Costco membership, this should be the way to go!
Simply put in dollars, here is the breakdown if the info I got was correct.
Save 20-30 in price alone. Save the upgrade/ activation fee of 36. Save 30 (+/-) for first months free data. That's 66 minimum saved versus the 50 from BB. 116 at most.
Add the free accessories (not the best quality but will do and is more than a case)
Add the fact you have 90 days of protection from Costco none the less.
I make no guarantees of this information other than that's what I was told. I'm planning to try the SGN from BB tomorrow for a week. If I like it, I'll pay the restocking fee of 35 and get my Note from Costco STILL coming out ahead if the figures are correct.
Anyways, thanks for reading and I hope to see you all around the forums. I hope this information is valuable to whomever may need/ want it. Let me know what your experiences are with this if anyone decides to go this route. I've bought MANY a phone from Costco and believe they are the best place to buy. Too bad they were late on the draw for this phone.... :-(
That sure looks like a very good deal. Only accessory we got from at&t is the charger. Lol.

Actually I have heard there is no restocking fee at BB on phones.
As with Amazon wireless, I would verify whether that long return period is equipment only (or one could be on the hook for a contract if the device is returned after AT&T's return window). Just something to check into if it isn't stated plainly beforehand.

I can check tomorrow and will make a report about this. Hopefully that this rumor is true as I love costco's additional accessories.
BTW, if you will join in an existing family plan (new number/new contract) .. will I get this benefit too from Costco?
What accessories do they give you?
Where did you hear that you get a month of free data? I also think I did have to pay the upgrade fee last time I bought at costco, though it could have changed I guess.

The 90 days is equipment-only. If you return within 30 days you can also have AT&T cancel your contract, but after that you can only exchange the phone for another on-contract AT&T phone (or return the equipment for cash and throw the subsidy away I guess). Costco itself is very lenient with returns but they can't do anything about the 30 day AT&T contract cancellation period.

Costco has add-a-line prices, but it's often a bit more expensive depending on the phone.

It varies by phone. Usually it's something like a car charger, case, screen protectors, and/or earbuds.
I definitely recommend at least checking out buying from costco. The 90 day exchange period alone is a great reason. I've found their prices are usually a smidge higher than amazon wireless, but if you want the free accessories or aren't 100% sure on the phone you want it's great.
Just curious.
I'm part of a family plan and I'm waiting to upgrade. The $50 discount at Amazon is not available to me because of the family plan. Will I get a discount at Costco... or am I stuck paying the $300?

Most costco upgrade prices are the same as the new contract prices, and they don't differentiate between family/individual plans (they have three prices--new contract, upgrade, add a line). However they don't generally discount as deeply as amazon. If I had to guess the Note will probably be $280-$290 for upgrades when it comes to costco, but we won't know for sure until they have it. In my experience the guys at the kiosk in costco don't generally know much ahead of time what their upcoming options will look like, but you could go ask.
Take a look at their website; they have all their current offerings there, and I've never seen them have different online and in-store prices. I'm sure the Note will show up there when it is available.
Best Buy clearly has a sticker on the test unit I saw that had a $35 restocking fee will apply on it.
No restocking fee. 90 day equipment guarantee. 30 days for service return timeframe. Typically they sell new handsets at 70-80 less than the selling price, which in this case is around 350. So hence the 270-280 range on the purchase cost.
Keep in mind also folks, Amazon Wireless is an ONLINE service with additional ETF rules and guidelines, more than just the carrier. If you need to return or want to return, there will be headaches to face. At least Costco is local and brick and mortar.
Accessories have been covered in prior posts and replies.
You WILL need to be a member of Costco ($55-$110 with $110 the Executive and has cash back accruals of %2 of purchases made for the entire year! So get paid to shop, that's what I do!) to purchase this.
Looking at the total package, I'm glad to be a member and make my phone purchases there! Piece of mind, great pricing, local locations and some additional monies back make me stay.
Not impressed I would rather get it for $250 and a free case that's a $80 savings not to mention the black tie insurance and I plan on keeping the note so I Really don't care about a restocking fee

There is no insurance. You'd have to go through AT&T or buy 3rd party like square trade or similar.
Looks like Best Buy is a better route for you. Especially for that no deductible coverage. I'm wondering if that Black-Tie plan could be purchased for phones not bought at Best Buy. Something to cOnsider.
I had gone to 3 different Costco's on friday to ask about the Note and they had no clue about it. I had already pre-ordered from Best Buy so I'm sticking with them.

Black tie protection can be purchased on iPhone bought somewhere else but no other phones. And we don't have any restocking fees regardless of what you've seen/ been told. Some managers got in trouble not long ago for telling people we had restocking fees to avoid return/exchanges.

It maybe different if you order at Costco.com
Ok so here it is. Costco will begin selling via home delivery on the 21st fir a cost of 269.99. You'll get the phone, accessories with no upgrade/ activation fees. No credit will be given for the first months data plan though.... 90 day return/ exchange program. There was also mention of a free extended battery as well but ill see that if and when it happens. No restocking fee either! Available in white or carbon blue.

Cheapest place to buy non contract Note?

My cheapest long term option right now is to buy a Note straight up. I haven't seen any place under VZW right now. I wanted to get one for around 600. Most of the ones on ebay are going for more than original price right now.
Any suggestions for is VZW price of 699 the lowest price?
VZW price is the lowest I have found. I am going to buy it at Best Buy though so I can put it on my Best Buy CC and get 18 months no interest.

Search this forum and you will find a few threads already but I would say Amazon wireless is the cheapest but it is out of stock as of now... Tax depends on your state of course.
Best buy will pm vzw, then open a cc account...they will knock $20 off, then if you opt to pay the full amount when bill comes in, they take 4% off. Not a bad deal.
I purchased mine at BB and they PMed VZW. Also 18 months no interest or 4% rewards points. I just checked Amazon and they have it in stock for 644.99 and free shipping

Best Buy Purchase
Hi everyone,
I see people have purchased their Note II through Best Buy using some 18 month 0% financing. Does this mean that you can pay installments of the full retail price of the phone?
My mom's current VZW plan that I am on only has one basic phone on it in which I plan to transfer someones upgrade on it to get the Note II. But if Best Buy does the installment payments, I'm going to figure out which is cheaper to purchase and which is cheaper to upgrade between the Note II and the iPhone 5, which my sister really wants.
Looking forward to advice/suggestions.
Thanks,

Yes you can make a min payment of $25.00 a month and as long as you pay it before the 18 months are up you pay no interest. Just don't be even a day late or BB will start charging you interest and you lose the 0 % financing. Also as of today you have to spend a min of $429.00

Love using Amazon Wireless.. no tax in my state, 2day free shipping and 30 day return policy on the phone!... even returned my SGS3 on the 30th day and no problems what so ever
I bought mine off of craigslist for $500. Just gotta watch the listings and haggle with people. Always check the ESN before accepting any device. Just call Verizon tech support and they take care of it no questions asked. I swap phones every couple months or so and my TEP has remained in tact, no questions asked. I carried my TEP over from a Verizon Galaxy Nexus, an iPhone 5 and now to my Note 2.
Best Buy Financing
Just read up on the 18 month financing if making a purchase from Best Buy...You need a Best Buy Reward Zone credit card. I guess that's not an option anymore.

Note 2 at Best Buy $199.99 net.

https://rewardzonemobile.com/
Note 2 is $299 with 50000 best buy reward points which is same as $100 gift card. You have to be reward zone member(free). It works for Iphone and others also.
Iphone 5 with 16gb was $149 yesterday with the 50000 points.
I'm gonna check this out thanks.

It only works for upgrades and new contracts at that price. You get the normal upgrade price plus 50000 reward zone points which is enough for a $100 best buy purchase or gift card. You have to be reward zone member which is free. If you order 2 phones or more they are sent to best buy store.
Is there any downside to upgrading your phone at BB rather than Verizon? Any hidden between the lines gotcha's? Fees? Spam mail/calls? I was going to get my N2 at Verizon tomorrow but if this really is the real deal..a free $100 would be nice!

I got mine from BB rather than Verizon for the simple fact of having 30 days to exchange the phone if it doesn't fit the bill. No hidden gotcha's that I know of.
I got mine for $200 because of them matching the price at Amazon.

How did you get them to match Amazons price?? They told me you have to be able to physically walk into the store and be able to purchase for the discounted price. If you can't, then they wont match it.

Yeah, I'm interested in that info too. I even just read their price match info and it said they won't match online only retailers.

They just looked up the price online on the Aamzon Website, then matched it. Then Changed the price, but again that is with a new 2 Yr Activation. It is printed 3 times on te receipt. But I didn't get all those reward points, Just the cost of the phone. But the fine print on the website says, it is online only if I read it correctly

I read that they would match the price of Amazon, so I decided to try and see if they would.
Went into the store and picked out the one I liked and then said "you all match the price of Amazon because they have it for $199.99"...response was we do as long as it's "NOT" from a 3rd party selling through Amazon.
He looked it up and said we were good to go for that price....I said AWESOME!

Tried today, and after initial shock they we're going along until they saw Amazon's phones were backordred. They said since you couldn't buy get it today on Amazon they couldn't sell today in Best Buy. I pleasantly told them that seemed wrong, they said sorry, policy, I said thanks for your time. I will probably go the Best Buy 5,000 ($100) online rewards points bonus route for purchasing the Note II at $299. Almost as good.

you are nicer than I am. If they wouldn't price match, I wouldn't buy a phone from them later. I'd give someone else the business.
are yall trying as a upgrade or add a line?
