Can't find a Nexus 10 at Wal-Mart!!! - Nexus 10 General

I am going crazy here! I have called nearly every Wal-Mart in town and no one knows ANYTHING about the Nexus 10. Does anyone have a UPC number from Wal-Mart they can share? Then maybe I can get these guys to look this up.
#CashBurningWholeInPocket

My local Walmart mentioned that they don't expect to carry it until, at the earliest, the following week after release.

As of yet, the N10 has not made an appearance in any brick & mortar retail stores.

If only we had a thread to discuss this... maybe name it something like.. "Nexus 10 - Where To Buy, Price, Shipping, E.T.C..."

Walmart is basically a wast of time no one seems to know anything. I'm never going back! The electronics department reminds me of 60's decor, they actually had a pastel green/blue computer. Google should rethink who they associate with.

That thread is a wasteland that's impossible to find anything in.
I finally found a competent employee at Walmart last night. The guy had his nerd on and knew exactly what I was talking about, he said the lack of information they've been given about it says they're at least a week away. His best advice was to keep checking their website and have it delivered to the store when it does come in stock.

As luck would have it, I found this thread you mentioned AFTER I posted. I was trying to avoid the other massive thread of people whining about the Play Store issues.

then i assume your not buying the Nexus 10 because it was designed by a guy that wears oddball pastel shirts and is generally an oddball dude right?

First-world problems, indeed.

I would agree with most people saying that google shouldn't sell to Walmart, but in some ways I prefer them over best buy. I mean best buy would be great if they could keep anything that is even remotely popular in stock. On at least three occasions I have gone their and tried to buy products that aren't even in high demand and every time I have had to either go to another store or order it off amazon.. I wish amazon wasn't their direct competitor, because it would be so much easier to order from them.

Wallyworld has the best return policy called no questions asked.

yeah I went by walmart on my way home from work today and they didn't know anything about it but had about a dozen nexus 7's :/
I'm guessing it won't be until next week maybe that there will be some sort of availbility on google's website such that I won't have to watch the web site like a hawk and refresh every 5 minutes.

The skew number for the Walmart Nexus 10 is.... 88727601774 however, it won't give associates any info on arrival, only that it is in the system.

Out of frustration and impatience. Just bought a Note 10.1 from my Walmart. Sometimes you just have an itch. Hopefully the Nexus 10 arrives during my return window.

Since no B&M stores have it, I am wondering if Google pulled their intended stock to meet Play Store demand. Why there is no word on when they will start showing up?? How about an announcement with an expected arrival time. It's like all the info is top secret or something and we play guessing games.

Possibly, but the Nexus 4 sold out too yet if you go to any O2 store you can ask them and they'll have one. So I'm not sure about that.

This WalMart thing is killing me. I was planning on just ordering the 16GB from the Play Store, but I have 35 dollars in a WalMart gift card, and with the shipping costs I would save picking it up at a store, it would only be like 50 more out of pocket for the 32 GB model. But since not all WalMarts are going to be even carrying it, I might be waiting around for nothing.

Many shops are sending their stock back to HP to be sold at hp.com. That's why they are only temporarily out of stock. You can have them e-mail you when they are back in stock.
http://www.erwincomputers.com/fb454utaba.html
Ordered one from Erwin Comp. Make sure you guys use Google Checkout just in case. They seem fairly reputable from what I read on reviews online. Let's hope they don't cancel my order like B&N did. I'm only buying just one, not in it for the resales.
Just now ordered 1 from erwincomputers.com It says item "In-stock". Hope its true and goes through. I also used the google checkout since I am not familiar with this website.
Their online ratings are horrible.
That being said....we shall see.
I used Google Checkout AND my American Express....just in case.
AmEx is awesome at disputes should Erwin decide to hose me.
I was gonna get another one from Erwin comp but after reading the reviews changed my mind. Just gonna wait until Wednesday.
Might want to check your local Best Buy stores today or at least find out when their trucks come. From what I've been told, they are gonna have them. Don't know if they will have a limit or not. Good luck!!!

I thought all inventories were going back to HP's warehouses....
For 100 bucks...or even 149, these make nice coffee table tablets for the net, music and browsing. I don't need 100K apps...but for 100 bucks, IMO, these are a better offering than the bottom of the line, 1.6 or 2.2 android cheapo tablets.
Samsung just lost a lawsuit over in Europe. There's a chance they might be stocking up as well.....
yarp - certainly do - im in the uk and ive just ordered 5 of them from insight (they are one of our suppliers here at my workplace - i got 5x 32gb versions for 120 quid each)
I spoke to them first thing this morning and they were waiting for the price drop which came at 1pm today - then he phoned me - stock says that they had about 500 or so. goodluck.
My mate just bagged on about 10 minutes ago, so they still have them....

I ordered 3 from erwincomp, with google checkout, no prob so far, but card has not been debited.
Waiting to see if i get something, it now shows up as out of stock
erwincomp.com/fb454utaba.html Says it's still in stock.
Also, insight.com/search/ppp.web?materialId=FB356UT%23ABA

To be honest, I'm not sure. The price did drop a couple of months ago to $299, and they sold like crazy. I'm not sure what HTC's plans are with it, but I've heard that BB stores may show 1 in stock, but that may be the floor model. I don't know if HTC really knows what to do with it, but there has been Honeycomb leaks and such, so time will tell if they officially release HC for this device.
The plot thickens.....I called 3 Best Buy stores and got 23 different answers. Yes I'm being sarcastic. One store though said "it's discontinued because of poor sales". I called Corporate and they said it has been pulled for the "sale" tomorrow. Whatever that means.

I would think if HTC was going to dump it, the recent update would of never happened. Best Buy is going to ruin my Christmas. So what if I wasn't good this year? My money is good!

I'm not surprised, they don't know. There were poor sales because the price was over $500 for it, so since other tabs were around $299, that's a no brainer. I'm not sure what they mean by pulled for the sale either...? I would think that if they had stock, the thing would sell great, but who knows? It sounds like Best Buy doesn't know either.

Jury is out on that, there's been 3 leaks, so there's something going on there...
I was worried that the $299 price drop was an indication that BB and HTC were clearing stock as they discontinued the device. Looks like this may be the case, and the new price was too good to be true. The fact that HTC's 10.1" tablet is also waaay overpriced suggests that the price drop wasn't an acknowledgment that HTC's pricing structure is unrealistic. And all this leads me to believe that HTC will probably end up having to exit the tablet market altogether. Oh, well, there's always ASUS and Samsung.

The following Forbes article speculates that Black Friday will being tablet market dominance by Apple, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble, spelling "doomsday" for all other tablet manufacturers.
http://www.forbes.com/sites/terokuittinen/2011/11/22/black-friday-tablet-doomsday-for-many-phone-vendors/
Maybe a bit extreme, although I see the point that Amazon is going to shake up the tablet landscape in the coming months. I expect at least Samsung to hang tough for some time. And HTC seems to be still in the fight, at least for the short term, with a 10.1" quad core tablet in the works:
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19736_7-57326923-251/quad-core-htc-quattro-tablet-details-leaked/
The Quattro may help explain the demise of the Flyer. Even though its not the same 7" form factor (which I really like), it would seem unwise for HTC to keep 3 tablets in the lineup, if none are selling too well. And with the Flyer already 6 months old, its not surprising to see it drop from the lineup.
I'm not buying the Forbes article's take on tablets as a whole, but I suspect it's on target as far as HTC goes. HTC made a mistake in pricing the Flyer at $500. It was also a mistake not to have a 10" tablet to market at the sane time. Had HTC priced the Flyer at $400 and had a 10" tablet out at $500 they might have had a shot.
But I do think that the Forbes article's post-mortem on Samsung is way premature. The Nook Tablet and the Fire are going to shake up the market this Christmas, but consumers are not going to settle for tablets with such limited functionality that are tied so closely to one vendor's ecosystem.
I bought all of the HTC Flyers. That's why there's none left..Muhaahahahahaaa
I was in Best Buy yesterday and asked about the flyer and was told that it is being cleared out because a new HTC was being released next month, but I really do not believe that, as for the Flyer I know of a place that has over 786 of them to sell, it is a good place to buy from ,I have purchased from them many times because they are here in my town and I can go to their outlet, http://www.techforless.com/cgi-bin/tech4less/HTCFLYERP512
The term open box means that they open up the boxes and check out the contents to make sure they are in good shape and working order, that way they can sell it at a reduced price. Plus you can get a extended warranty from them also, believe me they have great stuff and well worth the price which is much better than Best Buy.

Great info, thanks moe!
I live in GA and got one at the beginning of the month at a BestBuy Mobile shop at the mall.
I just don't understand if they're supposedly clearing them out, why would they raise the cost of the Scribe pen back to $79.99?
Well I think its a safe bet that HTC is not manufacturing any more Flyers. The only question is how much stock is still floating around

Ok but why the update on 11/14? To support the existing Flyers I suppose?
Yeah, support.
It's cheaper to do a production run of a million or 2 than to start and stop assembly lines. So HTC probably produced all they wanted in May - June and are just selling what remains. That's typical.
My Best Buy still has a display model set up. Maybe they finally have the HC update done so they pulled remaining stock, and are repacking them with HC ROMs so no one gets one without it? I know it is probably a long shot but you never know.

I went to BB yesterday and the managers told me that they are not discontinued, but that the corporate store would not sell them any more for some unknown reason, but they do plan on selling it again once they get some more stock. She emphasized that it is not discontinued.

Thought I would share this if anyone is looking for a flyer. TechforLess is selling open box and refurbished flyers for $179 and $199. Because it's simply an awesome tablet?
I wish we had things like that over here...
I use this as a Daily internet portal, listening to music on Spotify, ebook, sketch design concepts, taking notes for work. Anytime I travel, this Little tablet is the one thing I take with me on the plane. I don't really play that many games on it, some and it does a decent job for that. So I think these Specs will be fine as long as the Apps I use doesn't require a Quad-Core. Might gift another tablet to myself, but probably sell it to a co-worker who might need the all around awesomeness of HTC Flyer at cost.

While he is railing on Google, the same thing has happened with the iPad. It has sold out, with Apple taking days to update its expected ship date. And trying to find a retailer with one in the first few weeks (i know, my wife was looking for one) was madness.
And really OP, you are complaining about this after only TWO days? Your realize Google is only shipping their first batch right now, right? And future batches have to ship from overseas, which will take a few days (unless they are crazy and fly them in, and then eat all their profits...).
Be patient, its a virtue..
