[TOOL] HTC Droid DNA All-In-One Toolkit V2.1 [1-23-13] [PERM ROOT][Noob-Proof] - HTC Droid DNA

Post 1 - Information
Post 2 - Downloads and Release / Change Information
Post 3 - Bugs, Future Additions to the GUI, FAQ
I would like to add for those that like my toolkit, PLEASE DO NOT POST IT ELSEWHERE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!
I have seen multiple sites who copy and paste my work to their site! If I do not approve of it, then do not do it! it will discourage me from adding updates since it is being used for their own benefits!
tl;dr.
If you post my work without permission, don't expect updates!
I created an easy to use GUI program for the HTC Amaze and I decided to make one for the HTC Droid DNA. I spent a good over 10+ hours to learn how to script, watch videos on how to do it, working on it during school when I should have been listening lol and all that fun stuff. I am going to fix it and up and add more updates to it. You CAN place requests and I will try to fulfill it!
If this helped you out, Please press the thanks button and if you want, you can always donate!

A - If people REALLY want, I can make it happen. I just don't want to make anything that nobody would use.
Q - Awesome! Can I make a donation?
A - Of course! Do not feel obligated though. If you would like to make a donation, you can click the button on my toolkit or under my username.

It's based of the individual device. You can reuse the same unlock token for your phone ONLY.

Awesome!
Thanks as always Hasoon!
About to trade up my Droid Inc 4G LTE today for this.
Gotta have root! And it's faster this time around.

Of course they did. What did everyone expect from VZ? They are pricks!

One assumes this no longer works now? Since Verizon is a giant doucebag and they think that by no letting s officially unlock the bootloader it isn't gonna happen anyways?

confirmed as of 11.21.2012 11pm
We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. Please see the specific error code listed below, and try again if necessary.
Error Code: 160.
Error Reason: MID Not Allowed.

This thread, as well as a few others claiming to be "All-In-One Toolkits" etc. should be moderated. Unfortunately this is a guide for early model phones with S-Off and those able to have unlocked with HTCDev.
As much as everybody else here, I'd love to see a real root for the actual "consumer" phone for Verizon. Fair?

Now I take offense to that and your facts aren't correct. S-off users don't need this.
If you'd "love" to see real root, why don't you figure it out yourself? We do what we can to help. Hell, I don't even own the phone and I still try to help. Have you contributed? You have 4 thanks. I have over 2,800. I think we all know who contributed here more.

The kind of people who have a device that came S-off probably don't need a toolkit.
Honestly - I have no idea why you are hostile about this.
Most of us who got the phone today - and read a headline that says: [TOOL] HTC Droid DNA All-In-One Toolkit V1.0 [11-18-12] [PERM ROOT][Noob-Proof] probably assume it means they can root their phone (which is obviously not the case).
Just change the headline - since (at the moment) - it is inaccurate. No one is slamming your work - your thread title is just misleading.
-D

Thanks for your hard work!!!
Hasoon2000.. Your work is well appreciated and I did try your toolkit and found out that it wouldn't work but I still APPRECIATE the fact that you took the time to put up this toolkit... It's Awesome devs like you that keep us users Happy with our devices....To anyone that commented against hasoon2000's work as misleading well its not like it took you 3 days to figure out that Verizon locked our bootloaders.. a quick reply to him would do fine not this sarcastic response like seen in the earlier posts!!! If it wasnt for devs like him, you would be holding a brick so be happy that we have devs like hasoon that help us get the most out of our devices!! Thanks Hasoon and KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!! WE ALL DO APPRECIATE THE TIME YOU PUT INTO THIS!!!!!!!:good:

I love you guys!
The way I see it is...
as always it goes with out saying, BUT Im going to say it anyway... serach before posting PERIOD!
If youre a DEV and are helping get the phone soff'd and rooted. Do/Say what you please with out misleading.
If youre not a DEV then you should only be posting Bugs/comments directed to the work and not to the DEV.
You have to either have a big set of kahunas or youre a straight up idiot to try and tell someone what they should be doing, when youre doing nothing productive...
PS...
Happy Thanksgiving!

@hasoon2000, I don't think anyone here has taken a personal attack against you, or any of your work. We are all very fortunate to have contributors like yourself. If I knew more than I knew right now, I would be trying to do more than I can. A matter of fact, if you are able to make this root work, I will personally donate $20 to you via PayPal or however you'd like. My way of giving back. Happy Thanksgiving!

[TIPS] Stuck On FRF91? Want To Downgrade To Get Root? Click Here!

Hello to Everyone!
If you are like I was, stuck on FRF91 without being able to downgrade to get root, or if you just want to be able to flash to any earlier version Nexus One rom, then this post is for you.
FRF91 does not allow you to flash to just any earlier version rom so for this tutorial, we will be using the EPE76 rom that I have already renamed to passimg.zip which allows us to bypass this limitation. The steps provided in this tutorial are all done on a stock t-mobile Nexus one with a locked bootloader, this is especially useful for people who wish to use the rooting method without unlocking the bootloader. If you already have an unlocked bootloader, there is no reason to follow this guide.
"Update" confirmed to also work on at&t nexus one
Notice: after you do this you will have to redownload your apps.
Steps:
1. Transfer the provided passimg.zip file to the root of your sd card.
2. Power down your phone.
3. Hold down the Volume Down button as you power your phone back on.
4. A screen should appear showing your phone’s system searching for various files. This will take up to 2 minutes.
5. The phone will ask you if you want to start the update. Press the Volume Up button to start the update.
6. If you followed these steps correctly, Congratulations, you are now on stock EPE76 Android 2.1 and able to flash to any official Nexus One rom that has been released.
If this guide helped you please let people know, the more posts there are, the more comfortable other people will feel to follow this guide.
Just helping the OP out.
Link to the passimg.zip here
If his guide helped you, please consider buying him a beer.
Doesn't work.
'update failed - file is older!'
thanks for helping with the links.
bookmarked!!!
@ Amdathlonuk
If you received that error, then it was not done correctly. I downgraded from FRF91 two times before posting the tutorial and it worked both times, please make sure to follow the guide 100% exactly as posted or it won't work. Thanks.
If you already have your bootloader unlocked, a very much simple approach that doesn't require you to downgrade to stock and erase all your data is this:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_Nexus_One_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod
Except of course, you don't need to flash the radio (since you have it already in FRF91) and instead of flashing CyanogenMod, you would flash any repacked and rooted FRF91 update.zip like this one.
@ asero
This method is for people who don't necessarily want to unlock their bootloaders. Thanks for pointing that out, I have updated my posting.
OMG, I was stuck on frf91 for the past 3 days after manually updating like an idiot. You saved me from a lot of headaches. Very easy tutorial. Donation on the way. Thank You.
Thanks very much
Is EPE76 only for T-mobile phones or is it safe for ATT phones as well?
I have tried this and several files to downgrade, none worked. I wonder if the fact I used the "universal" 85b update that flashes the whole device.
I don't think that is the problem because I myself used frf85b universal after doing the steps posted above and then rooted successfully following the how to root nexus one without unlocking the bootlowder tutorial.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I've got unrooted nexus and it's at&t's version.
will this Downgrade method work for me?
Is there any risk in it?
tnx!
To be honest, I don't know if it will work on an at&t nexus because I don't have one, but it should work on it if the epe76 nexus rom is compatible with it.

Could I get a download link to the universal 85b zip to do this please. The Google download is not working it shows that the file is not found. Would appreciate it very much

Here's the bottom line up-front
Samsung has inserted code to blacklist our baseline and mitigate our exploits in the bootloader patch they began pushing out last night. You will need to flash the updated bootloader baseline and stock pit in order to restore your device to operational status. The How-To Unlock your Bootloader thread is invalid at this time.
Going Forward
I need your help with CASUAL. In order to mitigate this problem, I began working on a CASUAL update system on January 13. If you feel inconvienced now, contribute to the Casual Update System beta by testing it. Currently, CASUAL is dumb. If there is a problem you won't know until after you flash. The idea behind the Update System is to either update the CASUAL to work again, or kill-switch it and automatically bring you to a thread like this one. Obviously it's infinitely more helpful than a simple failure and I need testing on Windows, Linux, Mac and firewalls.
The CASUAL Unlock method will be updated when we figure it out and it will be possible to auto-update or do a helpful kill-switch in the next version.
Addressing Security Patches:
Recognized Developer Ralekdev has began work on a new exploit. It's not going to be as simple as it was before.
Bootloader Blacklisting
You can view the updated code here: http://pastie.org/private/zzfhwlrgeeuzweiccjdpvg#22
Previously, Odin Mode would accept any SBOOT with the proper signature. Samsung has implemented a blacklist which causes properly signed flashes to fail if they are contained in the blacklist.
Code:
bytes_to_hexstr(BL1_blacklist_str, base_addr + 0x1BF0, 16);
if ( !strcmp(BL1_blacklist_str, BL1_blacklists[i]) )
{
sub_43E03A00("BL1 of the blacklist - %s\n", BL1_blacklists[i]);
return -1;
}
The old bootloader contained random ARM hex data "CD D2 04 85 63 83 52 7C C9 8A 97 1A CD 30 78 FB".. The new one contains an identifier "EXYNOS_4412 1220". The new bootloader is also programmed to not be able to flash itself.
Non-Header Code Execution
You can view the updated code here: http://pastie.org/private/ryxaraypnnhbmtt6nswvq
Previously, if the ANDROID header was missing from the kernel, SBOOT would execute the partition as raw ARM code. This allowed Ralekdev's exploit to jump into the SBOOT.bin and execute download mode without security checks. However the code has been replaced..
Code:
if ( !memcmp(v5, "ANDROID!", 8) )
{
*** DO NORMAL SECURE BOOT ****
}
else
{
dprintf("Could not do normal boot. (invalid magic)\n");// this is where we exploited it last time to load my code
s5p_start_download_mode(v9);
}
return 0;
}
So obviously, this execution of arbitrary code exploit has been patched.
Conclusion
We are working to bring a new exploit and make it easier that the last one. Ralekdev will be analyzing and working on a new exploit. I will work on deployment techniques. For now if youre having problems, flash back to stock and root your device.
Why cant Samsung and Verizon just leave this **** alone and let android be real AOSP.

+1!!! I'm hoping sometime in the future that there will be a nexus device that would be similar to this phone. Full aosp stock Android, Large, stylus included and have an aosp feature comparable to multi Window. It's the greatest innovation for Android ever made so far.

I warned people not to flash it. I warned, and it was brushed aside because someone thought you could re-unlock (without 100% confirmation).

That was funny!
Here is the part about the OTA that is being left out.
If you look at the OTA it wont execute the updater portion of bootloader until the end.
The first thing the OTA does is examine the partitions, files, etc to see if they have been altered... If the checks fail the OTA just quits with error 7 (or 8 I forget). When it quits nothing flashes. This will occur on pretty much any custom ROM unless you edit the OTA to bypass the checks (see next line)...
I'm not saying be stupid and TRY to flash the OTA on a custom ROM but I built an L4 base last night with the OTA so you really dont need to anyways. To do this I had to remove those checks I just mentioned.
This thread should be sticked in two forums, this and general, because people thinking about rooting and on the edge need to do so now before the stock ROM forces the OTA!
But as far as a custom ROM accepting and succesfully flashing the OTA? Pretty much zero to none. Trust me on this ;c)
-Scott
And I agree, Verizon has turned total ***** on this!
They could have atlast made it 4.1.2!
Re: DO NOT ACCEPT OTA UPDATES!
Seems very Cupertino of them.

Verizon + Damnsung = Bunch of greedy wankers!
Anyway, would be interesting to see how this blacklisting is done.
Is it only checking for modified partitions or actually checking something else against a (real) blacklist??

Do you have a copy of the ota?
I need it.
I'm 1/2 tempted to flash it, then to take the phone to Verizon (as instructed) and cancel my goddamned service right there. There is NOTHING in my contract saying that I can't flash custom roms so this is just a malicious attempt to brick people's phones on Verizon's part.

When the software update pops up on your screen, there is an option to reject it not just defer it. So you aren't forced to install it

Frequently Asked Questions - Sprint LG G3

[SIZE=+3]Frequently Asked Questions[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+2]Sprint LG G3[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]This a short list of frequently asked questions in this device forum and the answers often given as a response. It should serve as a starting point for gathering knowledge and finding solutions to many common problems. Please only post in this thread with feedback on how to improve this document. Do not post "Thank you" type responses. If you have additional questions or require more help, try to find an existing thread or create your own. Do not use this as a general help thread.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Q1: How do I Root my LG G3?[/SIZE]You should revert to ZV4 using Flashtool - see below.
OR
You can root ZVA using THIS Thanks to @l33tlinuxh4x0r - But be aware that most ROM's/Kernels are made for the ZV4 bootloader!!! You will have all ZVA partitions, so you may have issues.
On ZV4:
1. Your phone must have NEVER been Rooted before. Even if you've uninstalled SuperSu and removed all the files IT WILL NOT WORK!! It MUST be installed on a clean phone. ie Never Rooted, LGFlashtool - see below about this.
2. Root for us is in this thread. HERE
Version 1.2.0 is the most current - Hit "Grind" it'll more than likely say not supported, then hit "OK" and it will "Bruteforce" root to your phone, then reboot when told and it'll reboot again on its own.
Let it bootup, then install SuperSu, reboot and then uninstall Stump Root.
Version 1.0.0 was made specifically for the Sprint G3.
[SIZE=+1]Q2: How do I unlock the bootloader?[/SIZE]You must Root first with Stump, then we use BUMP
HERE is another option to install BUMP.
or
for ZV8/A, This should work Thanks to @bender_007

Our build prop is too large for most text editors. 920 text editor, works so you can get it from the Playstore. Make sure after modifying anything to set permissions. For the build.prop it's rw-r-r.

Nope. We're good to go on this one. Just be careful what apps you remove. Don't cut too deep.
What a lot of people are doing is freezing/disabling apps before they remove them.
Added questions Q5 - apps, Q6 - modifying build.prop and system files
Updated rooting instructions. Just made it more thorough.
Here's an idea for q8.
How do I get my QHD preloaded videos back?
The answer is... Restore your G3 with flashtool!
I accidentally deleted my QHD vids awhile back when I did a factory reset from stock recovery. I couldn't use someone else's vids because they have some kind of protection and can only be viewed on the device they came on.
I restored with flashtool the other day and when I was going through my gallery this morning I noticed that they are back.
I searched and asked everywhere trying to get them back with no luck.
---------- Post added at 06:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:29 AM ----------
I'd like to make another suggestion, if you don't mind.
These are common questions that someone would search Google for. It would be great if this thread popped up when someone searched Google for the answer.
My suggestion is to make each question specific to the G3 or LG G3.
Example.. Q3: How do I restore my LG G3 back to factory stock condition?
Just think about what you'd type into the Google search bar.
Excellent faq, please don't think I'm trying to be critical.

It's all good. I was the one asking for suggestions, so I don't think that at all.
The way XDA wants these FAQ's is to try and find the most common questions so as to limit the amount of new threads. I tend to take it a little further by providing links and other info that I think is helpful.
To answer your suggestions:
1. So far, I think you're the only one who wanted the QHD vids back. So I'm not being rude, but for now I'll leave it off. You, me and others that actually read these threads know how to fix this. (and this IS on the first page now). If it becomes a common issue, I will gladly add it.
2. I'm not positive about this but I think the tags at the bottom serve that purpose. I added a couple and I think anybody can do the same. I'll edit the OP just to make sure.
Thanks for the suggestions, and please don't think I was being critical. I was just explaining my position.
Added link for question #5 APPS removal list. Thanks to stas333
Q#7 Added EFS Backup info. Very Important that you do this or you could be in for a lot of work and luck.
Q#3 Added info on getting MSL

All the G3s ( except T-Mobile ) just got unlocked like a week ago. Plus we're all waiting for the Devs to release their Bump tool so AOSP Roms and custom Kernels can be flashed.
Just be patient, it's all in the works!

If you're on Sprint, Stump is our root method. And to unlock the boot loader, we all use Bump.
Stump and Bump are the names of the apps/methods.
Almost sounds like a new song, which we're all singing now.

Just wanna say thanks for the one stop shop. Makes it easy to find stuff when I need it.
Well I didn't want to start a new thread so I thought I would ask here. I hope that's ok. Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone uses a cpu governor? I'm on stock and rooted through stump and bumped. If so which is a good one to use and what settings are best? Thanks
Op updated with ZV6 info - There is no Root for it yet.

Downgrade droid dna 605.5 to 605.1

All credit for this exe goes to dottat, weaksauce and firewater to jcase. I'm just a guy who found out this works for downgrading.
Download 605.1 exe from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-dna/general/official-exe-ruus-s-t2935556
Follow instructions from exe, plug in phone etc.
After it finishes you will be in 605.1 ota firmware and ready to s-off using firewater and weaksauce.
, from there, install twrp using fastboot
instructions for firewater/weaksauce :

Are you ready to place nice in the sandbox and show some gratitude towards those who contribute to your fun? The alternative is you work on your exploits and recovery methods?
Two things I don't detect/see in this thread are 1) an original guide and 2) contrite words.

I won't reitorate what has already been said off-site. OP apologized to Jcase. Congrats on finding an alternative method, you did what was suggested when you don't like how something is being done.
This thread however is not a guide and as such, can be treated as a general discussion and for the time being will have the title modified to reflect so.
Further discussion about "sticking it to the man" is over.
Yes this isn't a communist country but XDA is not a country. Your rights here are subject to the rules we outline to you and nothing more so show some respect.
That is all.

Most people here appreciate the work of jcase and beaups, unfortunately there are a few who don't treasure the developer's hard work. $25 is not much compared to the amount of doors they open when their work unlocks our phones. In the Sunshine thread there was someone who claimed they purposefully stopped weaksauce from working so the developers could get their $25 bucks via Sunshine. Despicable.
Anyway, I'm posting this because I just watched a presentation by jcase. In it he describes android vulnerabilities and a few times he mentioned the DNA. Finding exploits may be their hobby but they spend a bunch of time and effort on this and it has made my experience with the DNA awesome.

Yeah. EXE version.

G935A Root

Warning this is engboot, meaning its not made to be used on day to day basis you may run into some issues. Hopefully we can fix them as we go!
Also do not update supersu through playstore untill we are for sure that it wont mess anything up
Notice from @Chainfire:

SuperSU-v2.74-2-S7QC.zip
You will need:
- Engineering boot images
- Patched version of Odin3 (only AT&T models ?)
- Extract files, and run root.bat with adb on the path
This version of SuperSU is not officially supported. I recommend against updating the APK from the Play Store, or otherwise updating the binaries, unless someone knowledgable has tried before you and confirmed it worked.
If it breaks, you get to keep all the pieces.

First of all thanks to @Chainfire for helping achieve su and @princecomsy for giving me the odin file and engboot
I take no responsibility for anything that happens to your device, same goes for everyone that helped.
First file you will need is here http://d-h.st/gsDA
This is special Odin to bypass SHA-256 made by Princecosmy
Second file you will need is
G935A http://d-h.st/lQY8
G930A http://d-h.st/aK2A
This is the engboot. Using @billas since its already uploaded.
Basically once you have these two files open up the odin included and place the .tar in the ap section should only take a few seconds to flash.
After you are back up download SuperSU made for our phone from here https://download.chainfire.eu/968/SuperSU/SuperSU-v2.74-2-S7QC.zip
Extract the files to a folder.
Here it may get a bit tricky for some.
Go to your adb install location. Open a command window where your adb files are located.
Change the directory to your supersu folder location from earlier, and run the root.bat from the cmd.
I am not very good at instructions as this is my first time doing anything like this.
For the bounty id prefer if you just donate to https://secure.savethechildren.org/....C01C/Global_Action_Fund/apps/ka/sd/donor.asp

Again thank you to everyone who helped!

You can use it on a day to day basis. Dont try going back it will remove what you have done. The issues if there are any are minor.
And yes it is for ATT S7 edge.
I have a few questions here.
What exactly is going on with this root process? Is it installing a recovery? Will this trip knox? I assume Samsung Pay won't work anymore? Can we finally used xposed? If so, which version?
How can one revert if we felt the need to?
