com.android.phone is killing my battery - AT&T LG Optimus G

Hi, I have number of (~6000) wakeups due to this rogue process. what to do to stop this insane drop?
Thanks

This is due to fast dormancy on a 3g connection. Call att. Call lg. They need to fix this abomination. Or wait for a custom ROM.

Thanks a lot for your educated reply, so at this point in time our only option is to either wait for LG to take corrective action or to return the phone?

The phone is already unlocked and the first custom rom is already out, Why would you return it or wait for LG to fix it? With that mindset you should just get an iphone.

Not yet. The current rom is mostly stock with a lot of the cruft removed.
With the folks I see on irc working on this, I would imagine that more rom choices are not far away.

Root and use titanium backup to freeze fast dormancy.

If only it were that simple. It's not a separate application that can be frozen that I've found.

There's a process called modem fast dormancy that can be frozen.

Thanks. I was starting to think i was going crazy and missing something terribly obvious.

Sir, I just wanted to see if you have been able to find a solution as yet? I really love the phone but if we can't fix this I will have no choice but to return my phone and I am closing in on that return Window.

What a drag. I am really hoping to see an FXZ soon. Honestly it is the lack of FXZ that has me seriously considering the GN.
Personally I require a back out plan...if none exists honestly I don't want the phone. Mostly because the other thing I require is root. I know I can root the Razr as I already have....but I am seriously timid due to lack of FXZ.
This is why over Christmas I bought a Nexus, pretty much screw it up as bad as you want and theres always a way back. That and its been out for 1/2 the time and has 1000% more development on it already. I gave my wife my RAZR, her first smart phone.

Bro, use the one-click and put Safestrap on. Immediately make a backup. You'll be fine. It's a safety net. Not the desired one of course, but it'll save your tushy.

Can you outline the entire process you went through to flash NRG's rom.
I used the process that had you to unlock your bootloader that was on the front page of android development, by Binary100100 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426179

Under recover you have options to clear system and davlik cache, wipe both. don't however do not wipe data unless you want to "factory" reset your phone.

Have you read through the developers thread regarding the issue, if so and no one else has the issue re flashing might be worth a go. I know there were some issues with tmous based roms on non tmous Amazes where BT and WiFi did not work, never saw mention of issues with the camers.

After searching the devs ROM thread, it seems your not alone. Worth searching the thread using camera.
Also, as with all newbs you will be reminded to use the search button when your looking for issues, and if you have done so, you should always outline what your found in your searches and what you have done to try and resolve the issue. After all this is a developers site which we are lucky enough to participate in.

ATTN DEVS Disable Fast Dormancy bounty for ICS

I am willing to put up a $25 bounty (maybe others will join in) To a dev who can find a way to give us the ability to disable fast dormancy with ICS. The option is available on stock GB roms. Its in the modem so I imagine someone with skills can recode it into the ICS modem.
This is a MAJOR factor in increasing battery life and will do all of us on custom ICS roms good.
Uh, not that I can really understand this still but wasn't it discussed in an earlier thread that users on AT & T should leave FD enabled? Maybe it'll help non AT & T members?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
based on the responses, no it should be disabled. I had it on my int note and it did wonders. Att users on stock GB report the same except for one. ATT does NOT have this option and I have verified it with an tier 2 engineer

Can you not use google and do a little reading? It took me less than 1 minute to find this. Type this code in with the Samsung dialer *#*#9900#*#*. Next time do a google search.
this will NOT work with a ICS custom rom. It is not there in the sysdump

Try this code *#0011# and if RCC State says IDLE then Fast Dormancy is disabled. I read that AT&T firmware has it disabled by default on the Note. Also if the code does not work go to system/build.prop and see if you have this line "ro.ril.fast.dormancy.rule=" if you do and it has a 0 its disabled if it has a 1 its enabled and you can edit any way you choose. If you don't have this line in your build prop add it.
Thanks for that. When I try that code I get a blank screen with no options. Sys build prop has no reference to fast dormancy. I will try to add it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
ok dumb question how do I add it. I dont see an edit option in the build prop
so how do we exactly know it is enabled in ICS if you arent able to see it to disable it?

This is a known build.prop edit you can look it up. I searched google and others are having the same problem and said addin the line fixed it for them on ICS.
so why wont my phone boot... and how the heck do I fix it.....
Maybe it will work once we get the official ics Rom

Use adb to push the original build.prop back to system.app and the bootloop will stop. This is a known problem that happens sometimes when you edit the build.prop. Not a big deal your phone is not bricked.
ok could you be kind and give me some instructions on how to do it. what is adb?

That could take all day if you don't know how to use adb. Not being an asshole its just complicated. I am tryin to help you though. Can you boot into recovery? If so the fastest way would be to just reset from inside CMW.

I'm a relative newbie at this, but after several frustrating days of trying various options, unsuccessfully, I appear to finally have root. I took pieces and parts from various options and it seems to have worked. I have had stable root through complete battery depletion, recharge, and restart. So far so good...

I just got banned from xiaomi.eu! Help!

Hello, I just don't know what happened, but I just got banned from xiaomi.eu. Oh no! What have I done? When I checked, It said this:
Oops! We ran into some problems. You have been banned for the following reason: Spam. Please contact the administrator if this was done in error..
It was because of spam. I didn't do anything bot related. My account is real. No spam there whatsoever.
I didn't do anything bad. How did they tell me that my account is spam? I also contacted them about my ban, and I will wait for response soon. So stay tuned for that.
Okay, what was I thinking? Ok, well, I even tried to sign out, but it didn't do anything. Literally anything. Just that same loop over AND over again.
So, is there a way to sign out of my banned xiaomi.eu account? That is not good for me. I am so tired of this. Please, help me. My banned account name is serbanxk.
Okay?
Thank you!
R.I.P. serbanxk (xiaomi.eu), 2022-2023
