There are at least three variants of L9:
P760 (European)
P765 (Asian)
P769 (US, but screen is smaller and the cam location is different)

I got this phone (P679) from Wal-mart with my 2 year upgrade for 97 cents. At the time they were giving a $100 gift card for certain upgrades so I got that too. I am not disappointed with it at all. I have it rooted with Clockwork recovery. I am sure roms will follow soon. It is a powerhouse of a phone.
I have this phone and I love it! Its way better than my old p999 g2x. Long battery life and snappy! Since it has a dual memory channel controller it tromps the G2x's single channel controller. This basicly is an awesome phone. Just need the mods to make a thread for it and get some devs with CM 10 goodness!

the bad news is that its too popular right now, and that Nexus 4 sold out, with no good horizon on plentiful supply!
so for someone like me that forks over cash for devices, and doesn't play the contract game, the L9 is bringing a strong price right now.
I need some alternatives out there in the 300-400 range to bring the price of the "lowly" L9 down into the mid 200's :good:

T-mobile on their web site here in the US has the LG Optimus L9 for $249.99 without a contract and free shipping. Just go to their No Annual Contracts section and you can get it there. Here's the link below directly to their web site. They are also throwing in a free $60 stereo Bluetooth headset.

This Optimus L9 was on sale yesterday on T-Mobile website for $199.99 plus tax with FREE $50 PREPAID REFILL CARD and FREE OVERNIGHT SHIPPING. I ordered one and it should be at my house now. I was going to order Nexus 4 8GB but did not want to wait too long and 8GB size seems very limited.
At this price of around $170 net after selling $50 prepaid card is a great deal! I already have an iPhone 5 on Net10 (AT&T MVNO) but I'm bored so wanted to try something else to play with. Optimus G is still too expensive and Nexus 4 is not available at this point (Optimus L9 is just half the cost of Nexus 4 with the deal I got!).

Hopefully I'll be getting this phone soon, I broke my exhibit 2 and I'm considering, this.
It seems like cyanogen would support this, I'm gonna give some aosp variant a try as soon as I get this.

Target stores around my (Northwest Indiana area) have the LG Optimus L9 for $199, no contract. I just picked up one
On t-mobile's website, on the prepaid section, they are $249 with a 50 dollar prepaid card.

I got mine off fleaBay, but I can't say where the best place to get one is. If you already have service with AT&T, it might be worth it to buy it unsubsidized through them. That way you get both LG's warranty as well as AT&T's. Amazon didn't have any for sale off contract (not sure if they do now yet) but if they did, that's the route I'd have gone. Buying through eBay can be sketchy. I got lucky to get a good unit (knock on wood) from a seller with a super high positive feedback percentage. It's still a risk though. If it goes belly up, I have to try to get LG to honor the warranty, which might be a struggle. Craigslist is strickly "as is" with no hope of any remedy other than buying a new one if anything happens to it, but if you get a good enough of a deal it may be worth the risk.
TL;DR: It all depends on how much you're willing to pay for peace of mind.
picked mine up sunday for 487 including tax at the att store. includes warranty and return period, if I was an idiot it would also include the option to insure the phone. mostly outperforms my tegra3 device with two cores tied behind its back (eco mode)

I got mine off of eBay too. LG requires a proof of purchase for any repairs so I am SOL warranty wise.
I got mine off Ebay for $395- NEW. Look for them you eventually will find a great deal!

Im willing to spend up to 400 max, not to say it isnt worth more cause im pretty sure it is, but with the nexus 4 back in stock on the play store, its either an optimus g at 400 bucks or less ( the optimus is the one i really want) or i just get another nexus 4. I got a good deal on mine off of Craigslist. Traded my skyrocket plus 150$ I bought my skyrocket on Craigslist for 200. So basically add that 200 and 150 so I paid 350 for it. Not to bad really.

I am paying full price, and am opting for the AT&T model over the developer version. Why? One word- SUPPORT. If there is any issue with the phone, I bring it in to AT&T and have them swap it out. Can't do that if I order the dev version from HTC. I had to swap my One X out something like 5 times. The peace of mind is worth dealing with a temporarily locked down phone.
you guys shouldn't complain, the phone costs the equivalent of 840USD here in France, probably many other European countries as well... and that's the 32gb version

Being Canadian, I won't have easy access to the Dev version unless I can find one "reasonably priced" on eBay or CL (that isn't fraudulent!). Conversely, I can drive 90 minutes south to an AT&T store and get the AT&T version.
For the sake of clarity, Canadians do have access to the HTC One from at least 2 local carriers, but it's only the 32GB version at this point.
Price seems a bit high. I'm not eligible for an upgrade, but I could switch carriers to Verizon if they get the phone, pay the ETF fee, and still probably come out cheaper.

That's what I'm doing too, I'm going to unlock mine and sell it with a White/Green Otterbox Defender for $550+ I just got it this week so I could sell it for the One, and the $100 from the HTC Trade-In would still give me a few dollars profit, and if I can score a HD Media Link then I can eBay that junk for $70 and buy a box of Magic The Gathering Cards 8)
How are you guys disappointed by the price? Considering that I paid $850 for my piece of junk 64gb iPhone 5, I think $650 for a BADASS 64gb HTC phone is quite the steal. I was expecting it to be $100 more and was quite surprised when I saw it was only $650. Happy day for me!

well i already traded in a phone directly through HTC for $100 and its gonna be for a visa prepaid card. plus you have to do this in store and they dont have the 64GB version available at stores. i guess its a good deal for those that missed the cutoff for the HTC deal though.

I had the One..exchanged it for the S4 and came back to the One. Anyone that that has the S4, should definitely get the One if you can, while the bootloader is still unlockable
I'd rather go on swappa or any number of other sites and sell my old kit for a lot more than $100 unless it's an old phone. Just about any decent, present day smartphone is worth more than $100. They're just catering to those who either don't know there options or don't want to deal with trying to sell on their own.

You could go pick up a cheap android phone from virgin mobile for $30-50. This would get you $50 off. I'm trying to find out what phones are eligible. I sell my stuff on ebay too, but a free $50 is nice to stick it to at&t

I checked. They showed a $0 payment for an 8525. For a galaxy sII, they offer less than AT&T. But, Swappa is a better deal than AT&T.

Just wanted to say, bought my One two weeks today and went back to the AT&T store to see if I could get in on this promo. Not a problem at all, traded in an old HTC Inspire 4G and they gave me the $100 credit, which by request, they applied to my bill. What's great is, average selling price on eBay for the Inspire is around $80.

i just told them that i see that you guys have the trade in promotion going that you get 100 dollars for trading in your used phone. i actually read this thread wrong which is why i called inthe first place lol. because i thought they give you 100 dollars on top of what they already give you. the wife traded her iphone 5 and i traded a nexus 4. the rep gave me a 200 dollar credit no questions asked. probably because she can't see on her system exactly what phones we traded in.

I did read that until 11 Nov you can get the G2 free by ordering it online and using VZWDEAL code. I used that code last month when it was $200 and got 30% off. I have the Motorola Bionic and didn't plan to change, but the unlimited data glitch and 30% off code got me. Now when I use my Bionic it seems so small, so slow, and I'm really glad I jumped. If you are eligible for an upgrade you are losing about $22 a month by not taking a new phone. Verizon gives no discount for being paid off, so it's cheaper to jump.

I also have a GNex and unfortunately mine was really starting to show its age.
I had been eyeing the G2 but finally made the jump with the recent price drop combined with the promo code to make the phone free.
I don't regret it at all. There's a significant speed/battery life difference. And surprisingly, not much of a size difference.
I second this. I came from a genx with unlimited data to 6g now. I don't regret it. I have been using for a week now and my battery has gotten better.
Off charge this morning with light use throughout the day, few pics at my daughters soccer game, light browsing through out the day and I am around 50% as I type this message.
I also no nothing of lte advanced. I am in a smaller town so unless it is wide spread deployment, I don't have it here.

How is it hard to go from the AWFUL galaxy Nexus to an AMAZING G2?
I wrny from gnex to G2 just last wednesday. I must say that with all due respect to the Galaxy Nexus the lg g2 makes the gnex feel like a flip phone.
Battery life, screen brightness, screen resolution, camera, processor speed, overall feel of software speed through stock rom is nothing short of spectacular. I have rooted my g2 but i have yet to put a custom rom causr i wanna give stock a shot. However, either custom or stock rom this cell phone is leaps and bounds ahead the Galaxy Nexus.
As far as LTE-A i have no idea.

Can anyone tell me if they have experienced LTE-Advanced yet, and what it feels like in the real world? (I think its live in NY)

LTE Advanced is not live, nor is it in testing. Tech blogs/news sites lied, it is the AWS spectrum being tested. Currently it is only to be available in certain east coast areas. LTE Advanced is supposed to be nearly double to triple what AWS accomplishes, and at a better frequency.

Lol I know. Just went to Verizon's site and it says that G2 is sold out. Oh well. I'm afraid of purchasing it through Amazon because of my unlimited data.

Verizon is currently having a promo where you can get 6GB of data for $30/mo. You may want to consider taking this deal as the manager of my local Verizon stated that unlimited data plans will soon be bumped down to tiered data plans, regardless if you upgrade or not. Much like what AT&T is doing soon..
I called tech support yesterday to report a Web site issue. Tech who helped me went way out of his way to help me upgrade two unlimited lines to the g2. I managed to upgrade one using another line's upgrade (which extended that line's contract only four months), upgrade the second using promotions/employee discount, and keep unlimited on both lines. I didn't get the $50 sale, but it was a lot less than full retail ($450). I got two g2's for about 300. I'd highly recommend going to the Verizon store and or calling sales/support first. They have some employees that care more about the customer than Verizon's bottom line. Of course they have some that tell you to go to shared contract or buy full retail so they don't have to go through the trouble too.

i believe LTE-A is only available in internationala areas, like in Korea. not sure if its here in US though. AWS is available in some areas, specifically NYC. my friend has an S4 and after upgrading his radios, he is able to get AWS speeds. not sure if G2 will get new radios for AWS anytime soon though.
as for jumping from GNEX to G2, you will notice the huge difference. better in every way. i was waiting for the N5 but after reading the early specs that it was going to have 2300mah battery compared to G2's 3000mah, i jumped on the G2. even after N5 release, i would still stick with the G2. battery and screen (thin bezels) are the winners for me. i also kept my unlimited data while paying the subsidized price so i'm definitely happy.

During the first "unlimited" glitch late September I got my G2, but how did you get Verizon to let you keep unlimited data? I actually have major problems activating my G2 and had to use 2 other Verizon 4G phones to activate the micro SIM card to get the G2 on Verizon network. I actually don't know if I swap SIM cards if I'll have a working phone or not, but after 3 phone swaps I quit swapping.
If your on vzw this is the phone to get. Its this or wait 6 months lol. The HTC one is great but the battery life is just ok and the capacitive buttons are plane stupied. The s4 and note 3.. I'll always pass on tw. Its just a really bad Rom. Moto x. That would have been my next phone but they just can't get a decent camera! Leaving the g2. Is Is imo the best of the bunch. I've had it for 2 months? Give or take, and freaking love it. I think knock on is the most innovative feature of any 2013 phone. Active display is pretty ingenious too lol.

The extremely helpful guy from verizon tech support is going to activate both phones once they arrive...I have five lines with verizon; two with unlimited, one is house, and last two are basic feature phone lines. From what I understand from him is that we are going to activate the two G2's on the basic lines, then switch them over to the unlimited lines. He managed to get me the sale prices as well! Two G2's with unlimited for about $160 after rebates and account credits. Hopefully it all pans out. I'll know for sure Friday, but he sounded confident and indicated he has done this a few times before. He had me talk to his supervisor as well and he sounded like he was cool with the whole process.
Saw this in Best Buy ad this a.m. Sale starts tomorrow. Vzw, att & Sprint. Darn - I paid $50 for mine.

Yeah, it's a black Friday sale, national pricing. Since I paid $100 in August my only consolation is the free charger and battery promotion they honored me :good: $1 is an awesome deal for this phone. There will be a lot more people joining the party here on XDA pretty soon.

Yeah got mine for 50 buck through verizon last night.

Just picked one up for my brother friday for $1.00. Very nice device all around!!
I got mine today at the Verizon store only to come home and see the ad. However I also got the LG 8.3 tablet for free through the promotion. So Im not too upset by it
I picked mine up last week on the Edge program and with my Corp discounts plus Verizon giving me $15.00 a month towards it I only pay $4.79 a month. Not bad and to still be off contract, plus being able to also upgrade in a year.
Picked up my three G3's last week from amazon wireless for only a penny each with a two year contract.
So how does this compare to the Galaxy S5 in terms of development? Thinking of making the switch while it's cheap, due for an upgrade in two weeks and I don't think that Verizon is going to include the Nexus 6 in upgrades... hope so but if not thinking about the LG G3. Appears this phone has working AOSP, something the S5 will never have..
I got the "new" Blaze Red edition for free thanks to the Cyber Monday sale yesterday!! It showed up at the house today so I can't wait to go home and root, TWRP it and enjoy all of it's awesomeness tonight!

The only reason you won't be able to get the N6 in a couple weeks is because it won't be out for VZ until early 2015.
Personally I got the G3 when it came out by preorder. Loved it a ton. Then I started eyeballing the Note 4 and made the switch.
Just returned my Note 4 because of TouchWiz and now I'm back on the G3
I was able to get the phone for $30 yesterday and received it today in the mail. Got the blaze red model and it's pretty sweet
I went online and got the red G3's for 3 lines free with $150 credit for each line, thats $450 credit with 25% discount on moto 360 and cases. win! win! Also ordered iflash 3 pack tempered glass screens for $9.99. not bad.

do you have any idea when the nexus 6 is supposed to be out for verizon? i can't find any info but i think that's most suited to my needs. i've heard lg is like google in terms of allowing rooting and such though so i dunno

The Moto rep at work told us early 2015 so that's all that I know. VZ didn't want it competing with the Droid Turbo's launch.
anybody bought one recently for $30 with the offer of the free LG Gpad tablet? I can't really find good information on it? Does anyone know if you have to activate the tablet or not?
nevermind: i went through checkout have to activate a new line on tablet which is $10 a month access fee plus another $30 activation fee. deciding whether I want it or not.
I picked up a G3 for my daughter last Friday for FREE from Radio Shack. All I had to pay was taxes. She is LOVING the G3 (coming from an HTC EVO on Sprint) all her friends at school (8th grader) love using her phone to take pics.. I have the G3 on Verizon. I also got the LG G Pad 8.3 for free when I got my G3. Having a tablet with a Sim card is actually pretty nice. I take it with me on many occasions and it comes in handy.
Gotta love best buy's price match guarantee
