Ofcourse we are all interested, but some people might be intimidated by the way we have to report bugs back to you, including me! I am currently in the process of repacking your kernel for ARHD 4.0 but for now, as we speak, I have no idea how to report a last_kmsg log and also do not have the time to google it!
I'm guessing this is holding people back of trying this ROM, together with the people that never heard of repacking a kernel which also might come across as intimidating
So conclusive, I can assure you that ofcourse people are interested in your awesome kernel magic!

i will add information on OP but its to find nearly everwhere on XDA. also this section is still empty. android development is much more used but kernel stuff belongs to android original development so i wont move the thread there. there is much to do. oc the cpu oc the gpu and much more. but without at least a few guys testing it makes no sense to implement.

I have a very strong need for a solid CM/AOSP kernel
And I have some experience what is relevant for this coming
from the One V where I build and maintain CM9 and CM10 together
with a kernel for it.
So I am actually very interessted in doing some cooperation on that
with you if you are interrested on this too
Und dann koennen wir je eigentlich auch Deutsch reden

[OBSOLETE-KERNEL] fully automatic ROOT, CIFS, init.d - my first Galaxy S II kernel

This thread refers now to an obsolete and unmaintained kernel.
---
Hello world
Here is my first (THE first?) Galaxy S II kernel built from sources, to be accurate from Korean SHW-M250S sources which is the reference name of the Galaxy S II device sold here, using XWKDD GT-I9100 initramfs.
Sources are not modified.
Kernel config: /proc/config.gz
1/ First attempt:
SHW-M250S_Kernel_Gingerbread-supercurio.tar
2/ Insecure Kernel, can be used to root your device:
SHW-M250S_Kernel_Gingerbread-supercurio-1.tar
3/ Now built from GT-I9100 sources, still allows easy rooting!
GT-I9100_Kernel_Gingerbread-supercurio.tar
4/ Added CIFS support as module.
GT-I9100_Kernel_Gingerbread-supercurio-1.tar
4/ Automatic rooting! All you need to do is boot, and its magically rooted − su and Superuser.apk installed in /system
GT-I9100_Kernel_Gingerbread-supercurio-2.tar
5/ init.d support! will run anything present in /system/etc/init.d/
GT-I9100_Kernel_Gingerbread-supercurio-3.tar
You'll find Kernel sources on github, explanations in this dedicated thread
Initramfs used is this one: https://github.com/project-voodoo/galaxysii-initramfs-modified
You got me all excited and all you had to say was "Incomming". Dissapointed now
This is the start of something beautiful, nice one SC

Great supercurio, good luck!
So, nobody has the guts to try it ?

WHOhooo I wouldn't had bet on it
Ok so I'll make a "root" kernel from it.
You want to to try and participate? Come on IRC #project-voodoo
Alright!
Just added a new insecure kernel. Adb connection should be run as root by default, starting from that you can install superuser manually.
I also copied the kernel modules in the initramfs, which may solve the previous Wifi non loading problem.
Check the first post.
Please tell me if it worksforyou remember, I don't have the device to test it and it's not the exact source it should be.

I can only dream about a fully working CyanogenMOD on SGS2. MAKE IT HAPPEN!!

[KERNEL][RAY - 4.0.2.A.0-Overclock] [Rel: v0.1][Dt: 26/Oct/2011]

Been playing around with Kernel development and created an overclocked kernel for the 4.0.2.A.0 stock Rom.
There's nothing too speciall in it at the moment, but lets you overclock the Ray to 1.9Ghz using the source released by SE and the modified CPU steps that IF2 posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1165355
There's no custom bootloader/Clockwork mod and no additional governers (at the moment) although I may add these in future as I learn more.
It seems to work well enough, and everything seems to be working as standard. I experience random lock-ups at 1.9 and occasionally 1.8Ghz, especially when it goes into/out of sleep when the screen turns off. Lower frequencies seem stable though.
This is released as-is, I'm using it myself but I can't be held responsible for any instabilities or failures you might experience. Just thought it might be of use to some people.
The new .img file can be downloaded from here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17615284/4.0.2.A.0-Overclock.img
To install just use fastboot in the usual way. To return to stock, extract kernel.sin from the official update image using WinZip/WinRar etc and flash using fastboot again.
Thanks a lot hartej !
Just flashed it, seems to work as described. I OC to 1.4 Ghz
Will report back if there is any issue.
Looking forward for additional CPU governors, insecure kernel, autoroot and clockwork recovery
Thanks again for your hard work

Finally? Cheeky buggar!
Not really had any time unfortunately due to work, but if you've updated the defconfig for the Ray I might have a bash at your sources in the morning (still don't understand them!)
Thanks again though - if it wasn't for your help and the fact you stopped developing for the Ray I'd never had started playing about with kernels myself!

It could be a good idea to move this thread in the newly created subforum dedicated to the Ray: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1351
Can you also make a kernel for cm7 with some other governors like Doomkernel's one but for fxp043. Thanks in advance
I've created a new thread in the Ray forum as I don't think I can move this one without being a mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18829345

This is all pretty new to me, so don't expect too much too fast!
In future I may look at CM7 images but currently I'm on the stock firmware (at least until the flash in CM7 is fixed) and as I have to use the phone daily I'm not prepared to switch between firmwares to be developing for different sources at this time.
I've been using CM7 on my other devices (HTC Desire and ZTE Blade) so will most likely switch to it when some of the bugs have been worked out. When this happens I'll look at the CM7 Kernel.

[ROM][11-16] FXP046 Port To xRecovery / Free Kernel

Note: For FXP047 onwards, pls follow the guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19493762#post19493762
This is a direct FXP046 port to xRecovery so that people with locked BL can also enjoy this great piece of work from FXP Team.
It is 99.9% FXP. I only add in some files to make it run on Free Kernel (4.05.4 with modified ramdisk) and using xRecovery.
Credits:
1. FXP Team - for this beauty and their dedication in this project
2. Z & J, doomlord, azuzu - for too many things to mention
3. Tkymgr aka Goro - for the kernel
4. All X10 devs - for keeping the phone alive
5. All rom users - for testing and helping each other.
Links (do not mirror):
FXP46 main rom: http://www.multiupload.com/HF3FIBK6X9
FXP45 main rom: http://www.multiupload.com/2YFI036RDR
FXP44 main rom: http://www.multiupload.com/P7T4NJCUZ5
Google Apps: http://www.multiupload.com/TTEW5KSODL
Official FXP Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911364
Instructions (using xRecovery)
1. Boot into xRecovery
2. Do a backup of your current rom
3. Do a factory reset if your current rom is not FXP
4. Flash main rom
5. Flash google apps
6. Reboot
Not working (WIP):
- Video Recording (show white screen)
Notes:
Do it at your own risk. I'll try to update when there's new update from FXP but I'll be too busy to support this.
greatz..thx..for lock BL ?

How is it posible this one hase no data bug and why are you now making this if the FXP is in a little bit of trouble and not stable. And are you going to update every version that FXP brings out?
Maby you should share it with J why this one has no data bug.
Seconde, Lately i see a lot of work of devs changed by other devs on xda.
That is new because this whas never the case i while back.
Good luck.
ps Unlocking bootloader is just 5 minutes of work and this port 5 days.

It's my phone so the choice to unlock or not is mine not yours.
If J is not happy I can close the thread. No issue for me.
I really wish I can help but I'm not a dev. I just know that when I run it on Goro's kernel there's no data/wifi bug. And the rom is rock solid.
I mentioned in his thread that the problem could be kernel related but people can run fxp44 kernel on fxp30 with no problem so I'm confused.
My intention is to let people with locked BL to enjoy this rom too. Did I claim credit for this or anything? Why are you so upset about it?
robertberma said:
No i am not upset, And offcourse everybody should do with his phone what he likes.
I am also confused, because a few weeks back when this bug came i made a moddification with the fxp30 and took al the lib and app files of the FXP40.
So i had no bug and i had a working camera in my fxp30.
I posted it in a new thread and took no credits for this worked. Thanks every dev for this and also wroth that this thread would be delete if the bug is resolved, but for now people could use a FXP rom with no bug and working camera.
A lot of people where positive but mr Clown shut down my thread. Because also people where angry.
So i am confused this thread still is open and nobody is angry.
More and more roms are for unlocked bl, i bad in the near future there is no way a round it and you realy should unlock it to flash roms. I think you can not keep up to make all the roms for locked bl.
Thanks and no problems friend, its cool.

I guess I have missed all the actions as I was out of the forum for 2 months due to work commitment.
If the mod feel that this thread is not appropriate it's okay with me.
I did this to see the progress of the development but a friend who tested for me suggested that I share it.
I just don't find a compelling reason to unlock the BL yet

@robertberma: Stop spamming this thread with your pointless assumptions & ramblings, This is a great piece of work & is useful for both people on locked BL & Unlocked BL and also may help fixing the bug in FXP's rom
Does anyone have the working zmod camera apk to hand. Save me downloading the whole rom.

But I like its kernel and I like also Gokhanmoral's kernel.
I like also learning and competition.
So, I propose to revive Hacre's kernel with some Siyah enhancements.
This kernel will be compatible to AOSP ROM and with tools like Voltage control.
I added from 2.1.3 Ninphetamine's version (2.6.35.11 based).
I would like to propose few governors (conservative is my favorite) and many frequences (100-200-350-500-648-800-1000-1200-1400-1600) with the possibility to change them through /data/customboot script (or all others into /etc/init.d/).

Many thanks for this support
I added all payload (mainly Superuser.apk, "su" and CWMManager.apk) into the zImage.
It's good to see, that there are (new) developers who want to continue the good work at XDA developers. I'm very pleased with your work!!

By the way, by default, this release is booting in Ondemand (100-1000) and I advise to change to Conservative. I will release a script soon
bgn9000,
Do you think you can follow Gokhanmoral's lead and release an i777 (at&t version) compatible version of this kernel? I like trying different kernels (currently on Siyah 2.6.12), but our i777 model doesn't get much love (we only have Enropy's and Gokhanmoral's). Please consider making an i777 version and good luck with the project!
i just install it very smooth no problem all works fine no just test the battery life i will give my return in a few day
Good job mate!
Hope we will solve the aosp boot soon
Good luck, seems promising. Voodoo Louder support?

Nice to see Indonesian developer on XDA.
Why dont you just post the thread under Development subforum since many would see your work there. There are not many developments going on for Xperia S, it would be really nice to see one more developer as it may encourage other developers to come and show their skills.

Hi, I don't plan to put any development in XDA, I just want to share my current work, especially for local forum.. just posting here, incase someone want to test it..
Hi, does this kernel come with autorooting feature and CWM recovery?
Would be very useful if you could add into next version becos I really like your kernel. But since there's no root, I use advanced ics kernel for the time being.

No the point of putting this in development is that a lot more people could download, test and report feedback on your work this seems like a decent kernel aswell, it'd be worth seeing what other devs have to say about it

i don't know about autorooting, because it should be autoroot.sh(at least i saw it on script, but, because i'm using advanced kernel version before flashing this kernel, so I don't know if autoot.sh execute properly

thanks but i just want to keep it in general section..., because i'm not developing in xda, i think, it is not nice to put something in development section while you can't find something that "developed" in those area. i mean, for me, i just patch, fix some little error, nothing else, i haven't actually "develope" kernel(making new feature), i just backport some high kernel version into this kernel, and i don't think that count as "develope"

The newer kernel version has much better battery life compared to 3.0.8, I can confirm that your kernel's root did not execute properly on ICS, 6.1.A.1.58
Tested out apps that require root like titanium backup and adaway, all returned messages saying no root access.
So, I temporarily use the advanced stock ics kernel.
