[UNLOCK][S-OFF][ROOT] HTC Desire V T328w - Let's discover the device we own - HTC Desire V

Objective: To find the answers / resources / guides for the following and bring them under one roof:
1. Unlocking the HBOOT Bootloader
2. S-ON to S-OFF
3. Gaining ROOT access
4. CWM / Custom Bootloader Installation
There is quite a bit of information but it is really scattered and confusing for most users. This is an appeal to everyone with a T328w to help gather all resources under one roof so that we have a better understanding of our device.
This phone is relatively new and the numbers are increasing each day. But information pertaining to this specific model is lacking. There are no tools to S-OFF which is so very required.
We need an alternative to HTCDev. They just unlock the HBOOT but S-ON is very much active. Rendering the whole process half done. There are tool kits (though still under BETA) for other phones to manually S-OFF but not for the Desire V T328w.
I am listing the details of the my handset. Hope this serves as a flag for other users and developers to either start development or finding the right tools to get the above issues addressed.

This means that India and UK (probably Europe too) has got handsets with the same Baseband and Radio. hmm... Good news. Things are different in China though. Which keyboard(s) are default in your system?

1.60.707.7
This is the ROM of the HTC Asian Taiwan Version - I think the UK has no own ROM

I think mine was imported from Asia as they are not available in the UK from high street stores. My default keyboard is Australian.

Okay. So Rew64 from the UK and you from Germany have build number 1.60.707.7 which is infact the Taiwan ROM whereas,
I, from India have build number 1.60.720.6. What about this? I have searched and it only mentions HTC Asia. I do not have a Chinese keyboard by default but a Devanagari and English one. Primary Indian languages are supported on the phone though. Strange!
HTC Taiwan official RUU (ROM) is out. What about my build number. Any leads?

today i get OTA update for my second Desire V, it from China old build number 1.60.707.7, but now 1.73.720.1 and radio 1.10.34D.17_20.26.30.27U

My Phone is from Singapore and was shipped with the Indian ROM.
I have tested some different ROMs (Asia / India / European) to find out the differences
At this time I am testing the 'Custom' ROM from Aka_noodle...
My preffered Keyboard is SwiftKey with german layout

What differences did you find between the ROMs? Can you enlist the info in details like Build number / Baseband, Radio version, etc. Would be great help to the community. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
@all
Today I rooted my device and am working on customizing the stock to get better performance out of it. I will post the details of my experiment soon. Applying a Custom ROM is easy. To Customize your own ROM is exciting. Hold on guys. I will be posting the details soon.

Most differences which I could find out, were the different supported Languages, some entries in the build.prob regarding the local GSM Operator ... Radioversion was always the same, cause im S-ON :crying:
and the pre-installed Bloatware - but these apps were the first which were uninstalled
Performance was always the same (tested with Antutu)
Tested Version
HTC ASIA India 1.60.720.6 / 1.05.34D.29_20.21.30.23U
HTC Europe Russia 1.59.401.1 / 1.05.34D.29_20.21.30.23U
HTC ASIA WWE 1.60.707.7 / 1.05.34D.29_20.21.30.23U

With the New update, I got an increased score in antutu benchmark, the score increased from 3300 in previous build to 3900 in the new one..
Sent from my HTC Desire V using xda app-developers app

this is not the result from the new HTC Update - Antutu has been updated
increase with old ROM from 3400 to 4000

Newbie needs help - Debrand T-Mobile G2 Touch UK

Hey everyone,
I'm new to the site and really like the forums so much information and you all seem to be pretty helpfull. I have a been trying to make sense of it all but getting confused as to what ROM I should use and what version etc. So if I just state what I have and what I want to do below maybe you can help me I have flashed phones before but no HTC's or XDA's lol
Ok so I have a T-Mobile HTC Hero and I want to debrand it and install all the latest generic official software that I can for it, so its effectively fully updated with official software and debranded. I also want to unlock it but I'm aware this cant be done via any flashing methods so I will pay for a service to do that.
I'm going to post some information I got from the phone below and hopefully you guys can give me some links and away I go
Model Number: T-Mobile G2 Touch
Firmware Version: 1.5
Basband Version: 63.18.55.06U_6.35.04.25
Kernel Version: 2.6.27-a5504199
Build Number: 1.76.110.6 146733 CL#47214 release-keys
Software Version: 1.0.0.A6288
I am in the UK too and plan on using an O2 sim later,
Thanks!
You can unlock it, update to the latest 2.1 official firmware then check the sticky with the explenation. Or use goldcard method.
If you're gonna do research atleast do it right.
Moved to Q&A as not development
For future reference, the development section is not the place for Q&As, this post will be moved by one of the mods but please remember for next time.

How do I unlock it? How do update to the latest 2.1 official firmware? Which sticky is that I should check?
Thanks
Ok, yep for the unlock you will need to buy an unlock code.
As for the debrand, I recommend BTDAGs guide linked in my signature.

Ok I installed "VillainROM12.0.0-Full-signed.zip" should I upgrade the radio?
Also I still have the "G2 Touch" and "T-Mobile" splash screens when I switch on the phone as well as the "VillainRom" one too.
Can I replace these with the stock HTC Hero ones?
Is there a zipped official HTC Hero rom I can install instead of the Villain one?
Thanks

[Q] Advice on installing ARHD.

So basically I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to Android rooting and flashing etc. I've managed to successfully root my One X+ using Hasoon2000's awesome toolkit and I used the CWM International, I have SuperSU running fine. Now I've done that I would like to install the Android Revolution HD ROM.
Carrier: O2
CID: 02___001 (That is with 3 underscores)
Software Version: 1.17.206.1
HTC Sense: 4+, Android 4.1.1
HBOOT: 1.35
Kernel: 3.1.10
Baseband: 3.1204.168.32
No idea if all this is relevant but I thought I'd better give it.
Is my phone compatible first of all, and also any advice or links to guides on how to do it or what to do to prepare. I was particularly curious about my CID having 3 underscores when almost all other CID's I could find reference to only has 2 underscores?
Finally I'd quite like to know about anything cool or interesting I can do at this point or while installing the ROM, I'd heard about custom boot-up animations or something like that?
Boot animations are just .zips stored in system/media or system/customize/resource. Make sure the resolution and screen size is the same as the phone. All boot animations in One X and X+ section will work for a fact.
I have no idea about the underscore thing. But if your phone works then I guess all is good. Post in the rom's thread if you are worried.

I've got some good news and some bad news. The good news are; though you say you're a noob, atleast you paid attention to the CID-number
The bad news are; since we're not S-OFF yet, you can't change the CID-number, hence you can't flash the ARHD rom untill O2 comes out with an updated firmware package.

At the moment the CID is irrelevant because it's only needed to flash the firmware package which isn't needed to flash the ROM. So you can flash ARHD just not the firmware package.

Actually i think the point he is making is, 02 are yet to release an official rom containing the latest hboot version. People with lower hboot versions are having issues with custom roms based on the latest software update. So alot of devs have advised that people with the lower hboot versions to update hboot before flashing.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2
He has 1.17 firmware and 1.35 hboot, is it there any newer? I was running bindroid beta prior release on 1.14, 1.16, 1.17 without any glitch or problem, so I dont see any problem to flash arhd or any custom rom

Update Android version

hello to all,
I have a big question that I would ask, I currently have a Desire X with version 4.0.4 ROM Shadow.
I would like to try the ROM version 4.1. How do I upgrade the version? with the ROM or is a separate process?
Thanks to everyone for their helpfulness and patience.

You forgot OP

Would someone plz answer this?

Hi everybody. I have an S-OFF EVITARE_UL Telus handset with CID 11111111. HBOOT is 1.40. It is an LTE handset. I am still on 4.1.1 JB with Sense 4+.
From what I understand, I can't flash a ROM that's made for an International HOX+.
AT&T rolled out 4.2.2 with Sense 5. Telus did not. My question is can I flash a ROM that's made for AT&T? If so, what is the procedure? Thanks.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You understand wrong then. Your device uses diffrent radio hardware to the international version and requires a diffrent kernel. There is nothing you can do to make any international rom compatible with your device. Sorry!
Although AFAIK you will have no issues flashing an AT&T rom...

yeah! you can flash At&t htc one x plus roms on telus.

Hi, you can flash sense 5 and android 4.2.2 based At&t roms to Telus device. in fact I use one, presently we have three roms. Elegancia 6.2 .. Blackout extreme ..and magiorom. These roms were based on system dump provided by lloir, the hboot is not updated and its safe to try these sense 5 roms.
make a backup of your present rom and try these...
don't even try to flash roms made for international version.
Will it require s-off and root ????
