Hi, I've just picked up my red Lumia 920 today. One quick question for anyone who's come from a Nokia N8, is there anyway to copy the txt messages over? I have something 3000 txts and don't really wanna lose them all.
I've done quick google and xda searches and came up with nothing Thanks in advance.
Edit: Oh and is there app to transfer stuff through wi-fi? Mainly music and videos

I've upgraded from a Nokia 6310i and iPaq 3870 connected by Bluetooth to an unlocked XDA using my orange SIM. With help from this site, particularly Dave4391, I've got GPRS working, but the next problem is that I've got Line 2 on my SIM for friends and family, but I can't find anyway of switching to it on the XDA. On my 6310i it is a long (about 5-7 seconds) press on the # key, which toggles between Line 1 and 2. Using SIM manager I can see both my numbers but I can't find a way of changing lines. Can anyone help? Thanks.

You need a phone that has the orange logo "stamped" on it - they preload their software on to the phone... Theres going to be no way to do it, unless one of the lovely XDA developers can program their own software :?:

Glad to hear those settings work for you I was just looking through the forum. I have upgraded my xda1 to a xda2 and had line 2 activated recently and I am having the same problems as you, if I discover anything I will drop you a line, lets hope one of the developers from this great forum will help us out and maybe write some software to solve this, I have quite a few beers to give away I don't know whether you know or not but orange are bringing out their own version of the xda,

Just had an idea today that we should pledge donations to Heathcliff74 if he could get us an interop unlock for the Lumia 800. I think he was very close to getting it before the Network Setup software got updated. I personally would throw in $30 for it, anyone else willing to do the same?
Also, if anyone could explain to me how to dump apps off of a phone, I could provide a copy of Network Setup 1.13.0 for the tinkering types to have a go at.
He got given a free Nokia Lumia 800 a couple of weeks ago as did four other top xda developers/hackers so I'm pretty sure it and other projects are being worked on as we speak.
On my Lumia 800 I have these two issues and not on my HTC Titan. Hence I am presuming it is device specific bug and not OS related or services related.
1) I can't get my twitter to link on Lumia. Every time I add it, it does 'connecting to twitter' for a few minutes and then takes me back to emails+accounts. Nothing is added there, in people hub or under me tile!
2) I can't open any links - in emails, facebook, news articles, blog posts or IE! I tap on the hyperlinks and it does nothing!
Anyone else heard/know of these issues? Any solution suggestions?
I've done a hard reset and this is my 2nd handset. First one had exactly the same issues. Plus battery only lasts about 4-5 hours on this as well as the last one.
Got it on contract with o2.
Have you got the latest firmware? 1600.2487.8107.12070, That was meant to enhance the battery issue, Links working from emails etc on mine ok, gave up using Twitter so can't really comment, Hope ya sort it.

Did you give up twitter because you don't tweet any longer or you gave up because you can't sync it as well?
Know anyone else who had something similar?
I've talked to Nokia support, Nokia care, Zune support and Windows Phone UK - none of them have a clue!
I've been to O2 store twice now, they keep hard reseting my phone ffs and still doesn't fix anything!
Now they want me to send in my phone for repairs. Only had it for like 5 days and already had 2 replacements both with same issues - am sure it isn't a repair issue here :s
No gave up Twitter because it was ****e! and mainly on PC, but I did use it on my titan briefly with no problems, Don't know of anyone with similar issues sorry, Is it a branded O2 handset? I have an unlocked lumia but not sure where it originated/carrier wise as was from ebay, I would ***** slap the counter staff and get either a working one there and then or tell them to replace it with a 900, Really cannot think of why you cannot open links?
Read a few reviews of the twitter app and peeps complaining about not being able to log in etc, Maybe it's a lumia thing?
Or even a Giff gaff problem that is assuming ur still using your sim?
Try a different sim or even wi fi alone to narrow down your options.

It's a branded O2 handset. Giffgaff lives in my Titan. O2 micro-SIM in O2. I have a feeling it's got something to do with O2 branding. The unbranded one I tried before buying this was awesome in every way. I would love to get it swapped for 900 though Sadly we don't even have one yet
No way you can cut your giff gaff sim down to try it? Shame as I just sold a black lumia on ebay unlocked etc, can you cancel the contract? If all else fails pre order a 900 from phones 4u, I did and its £36 pm available from the 27th.

Twitter is apparently currently having an app linking bug "new features" or something.
If you're a new user you're out of luck for the time being. But if you had a signin earlier you're fine.
At least remember there being a report about it or something.
[Q] Lumia 900 owner looking for help:Nokia & Orange apps disappeared in Marketplace
I have had my Lumia 900 UK model for 2 days now (this is my 2nd handset) and have had the same problem appear on this one as I had on the 1st. I returned the first for a different problem though.
This issue is that the Nokia Collection and Orange Selection menus which were there initially have disappeared from my Marketplace and I cannot install any of the Nokia Apps (ie CNN or EPSN) or Orange Apps which I could install when those options were there.
This started yesterday when I put a T-Mobile pre-pay/PAYG sim in the handset in an attempt to activate a 1-year free internet offer (different story altogether). When I put my permanent Orange sim back, the marketplace no longer had the 'Orange Selection' available. The Nokia collection was still there.
So, last night I though I'd try a phone reset and see if that fixed it. It was a 1 day old phone so I was only really wiping 5 text messages. However, after the reset I lost the Nokia apps from the marketplace too. I reset again and still no change. I've used the ReInstaller app to get everything back on my phone, BUT any of the Nokia or Orange apps refuse to install, with the 'this app is not for your handset' message displayed on the marketplace page for the app.
So, I'm hoping this has been a regular problem for which the XDA collective have a solution for. Please help. What do I need to do to remind my phone that it's a Nokia and is on Orange??

Sync your phone with zune and they will appear. Sometimes you have to sync a couple of times and wait a day for Zune to update. But thats how they appear. And like you said a sim change or a hard reset (!) will clear your marketplace until you sync with zune again.

Thanks, I'll try that now. The first handset went back for a hardware problem as the sleep and camera buttons were loose. I knew that this marketplace problem would be fixable and common, so don't worry I wasn't thinking that my phone was broken, just a bit confused at how it forgot who & what it is

Yes. I was going to wait for the blue one to come out, but I saw that gelaskins have a template for the 900, so I can get any colour made up if I want.
I actually quite like the white now, didn't think I would. It looks like it would be the standard issue phone for a Stormtrooper

You'll probably be better of getting a new phone at this point. I am fairly sure the PCB as spare part would be more expensive. Lumia 800 sells in the UK for around 140 sterling right now..
