Tab 2 10.1 audio/video/usb(charge) cable - Galaxy Tab 2 Accessories

Hello,
I'll be hooking up my tab in the car and I'm looking for a cable that will charge over USB and provide audio out in one.
I found this guy on Amazon but it only says it works with the original Tab.
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0054MV84Q/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=A36WKB83D3HR47
The video out is mirrored so I would just leave that part unplugged.
Does anyone have experience with this or something similar with the Tab 2?
Thanks!

I just ordered one. I'll give it a whirl and report back!

Be interesting to see how you get on, I'm in the process of mounting my P5110 in the car as well. I don't think the video would work anyway, but the audio should...
What bracket are you planning on using if you don't mind me asking?

I actually ended up making my own, a TV mount coupled with a gel case.
TV mount: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0044YMQIW/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00
Gel case: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009L7OMVG/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00
With a little modification, it worked out quite well.
I like this setup because I can easily reach the tablet to control Pandora, Stitcher, Maps, etc, and still swing it over for a passenger to watch Netflix or browse the web. If I can get this cord to work, I'll be set!

Has anyone had success with this on 10.1?

Got the cable in the mail today. I hooked it up and everything works as expected.
I can't speak for the video plug, but the audio works perfectly and the usb charges as expected. I couldn't be happier!

Very nice setup, and with the minimum of cables hanging out of the Tab.
I must order the same cable now that you confirmed that it works, and post a pic once I have it mounted in my car.
Currently my trusty i9000 handles all my in car android needs with Navigon etc.. time to upgrade.

I still need a way to attach the cable to the mount without it looking like junk, but since it splits close to the usb/av end of the cable, this shouldn't be too hard.
Definitely post some pics once you have yours set up.

Since this is mainly going to stay in the car, I also set up Tasker to perform a few tasks when the device gets power.
On power connect:
- Turn screen on (I believe this happens anyway though)
- Set brightness to auto
- Set screen timeout to 24hrs (There is also a function to keep the screen from turning off, but it still dims the screen close to the devices set timeout, which I find annoying)
- Play audio (if paused)
On power disconnect:
- Pause audio
- Set screen timeout to 2min
- Lock screen
Just some food for thought.

Looks great!

So we can get audio out thru the 30-pin connector? hows the sound quality vs. the headphone jack? i assume since it works for the 10.1 tab 2 it should work on the 7.0, would love for a nice single connection setup like that when I work out a way to do an in-dash setup once i figure out a way to relocate the AC controls.
edit: 500th post :highfive:

has anyone got this working on a galaxy tab 2 7.0 (p3110 pref)
ive bought 2 diffrent cables and neither has routed audio out via dock,
is there something i should be doing within android to enable dock mode or route audio out via the connector or will it do that automatically?
i really need audio to come out via the dock connector so i can charge and play audio out of the one cable.

The audio on the 30 pin is the same audio on the headphone jack....... its audio.
The only difference between the 10 and the 7 is that the 7 has no video on the 30 pin

I bought a similar cable as yours But I cant get it to work the audio wont out through the cable only on the device. Any setting that I should do? Could you please show me your set up? Thanks you.

Do you happen to know someone with the tab 2 7.0 that you can test that cable with? I'm thinking about ordering one but would like confirmation that it works. Not interested in video, just audio and charging.

If it works on the p-51xx it will work the same on the P31xx except no video on 31xx 2.7.0 tabs
the pinouts are exactly the same.

So, will this cable bring video out from p5100?
Did anybody tried it on p5100?
Thanks

CHeck the Samsung accessories page for the adapter, if it says its compatible it is, if its doesn't list your model its not.

Just curious here...I've been long considering taking my Galaxy Tab 2 7 inch apart and somehow fashioning a Double Din head unit out of it. But I'm a little skeptical now because:
If I'm reading this right, you guys are saying that only audio comes out of the USB connector thing? But that doesn't make sense to me because why wouldn't the audio sound, and video sound be handled the same way? It just seems like to me they would be essentially the same thing, but then again I'm not very tech on the software side so idk

From what I gather, your audio in whatever form will be carried through the 30-pin connection on the GTab7.0. The only difference in the pin connector from the GTab10.1 and GTab7.0 is that Samsung, in their infinite wisdom, omitted the video pin on the GTab7.0.

MHL Cable and WiFi Cut Off

Gents I bought a generic POWERED MHL cable and when I plug it into the S2 WiFi won't connect anymore to my network. What gives? I have googled a bit and seen a few issues regarding it, not sure if more have had the issue. I wonder if this is a software or hardware issue. I have 4 days to return this phone if it is a hardware issue.
Anyone else have the same issue? TV signal shows up fine.
In general section someone has this same problem. I believe they said it was a tethering issue so you might have to root
yup i saw that and posted. i called samsung. according to them when plugging in an MHL adapter it disables wifi (even though you may still see the wifi icon) so that it doesnt cause jerkiness of ur picture
Hmm... I'll need to retry. I know cell data worked fine. Will try wifi-only.
Did you get it figured out? I ordered up one last week and should have it tomorrow. I was looking forward to being able to stream netflix.
What I would like to know before I spend the money on the official Samsung one if it would do the same thing.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
Wifi works fine with my MHL adapter connected. There is a small overscan issue but nothing I can't work with (my screen is 1:1 ratio so it's the adapter or the phone output). Both the laptop and the phone reported the same external ip.
Using this MHL adapter - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA07R0608256
P.S. - I just checked (10/29 - 5pm EST) and it did 1080i output. Not 1080p like some suggest but it may not do that until an actual 1080p video is played. Mine was 1280x960 resolution. There were two other interesting observations made that I thought were good when the MHL adapter was connected.
(Inline edits below)
(Clarification: Below observations are during video playback using the Video app only!)
1) During video playback TV does output 1:1 resolution (no overscan issue)
2) TV doesn't mirror phone display. Just renders playback so you can use the phone like a remote.
3) Screen doesn't turn off automatically during TV out playback.
Now then the above are for the video app and just to put minds at ease here are for everywhere else.
1) Screen may overscan but it may be resolution or screen ration differences between phone and tv. Mine is 1920x1080 native.
2) The TV will mirror the phone display so you can play your games and what not on the TV (like in the youtube videos showing off the adapters)
(End Inline Edits)
Now then samsung's claim about studdering during MHL TV out? That sounds like bs. I checked cpu usage during the mkv decoding work and it was at 25% at the highest point and that was done by the mediaserver process. The tvoutserver used less than 2% cpu time to do it's work. I connected via adb over wireless which would of been only possible if wifi was working.

You can't mirror the phone's display? What if I wanted to play a game on my TV - not possible? Does the hdmi out only display video playback?
I just got mine today. It mirrors the display on the phone. It works really well. Picture is way better than the RCA hookup i had for my cappy. WiFi works too. I am watching breaking bad on netflix. Works awesome.

I was specifically referring to the video app that's included on the phone (the samsung one). It mirrored the display everywhere else including in games so everything that showed on the phone showed on the TV.

I didn't know that. Thats pretty sweet. You can plug the phone in, set it down and control everything with the tv remote? How does that work if you have to touch the screen to select stuff. That would be worth the extra cash for the samsung one over the cheap ones.

You can use navigation keys from the TV remote to navigate through the phone home pages and program list and select apps with the "Select" button on the remote, but it is impossible to select apps from the dock. It's not as fast as the touch screen , but it is manageable. My Sony TV is two years old, but works well with the Samsung MHL adapter. I borrowed one from my coworker to try, now I'm looking for a good online deal.

I'm the poster in the General forum with this issue. I have the monoprice adapter, and it disables my wifi.
That was stock, so I rooted the phone to disable any tethering app, and wifi is still disabled....did you have to do anything to get this to work?
This is really strange....maybe I should return the monoprice one and get the newegg one.

I didn't do anything special. Just plugged it in. They had a couple different ones on monoprice. Did you get the same one I linked? It is the only one that says it will work with the sgs2. Mine works great and the picture quality is pretty good. I would try and just exchange it.

mhl trouble

I got my mhl addapter but it is not working correctly. I hook the addapter to the hdmi cable then hook the power using the cable and power supply that came with the phone and finally connect to the phone. I do hear a beep and see the phone charging so i know the power connection is good. Most of the time i dont get anything at all in the monitor, sometimes all i get is a flashing of the screen as if a signal is coming and going and in a handful of instances it had work but it would play video very chopy at both the hdtv and the phone screen, like a frame every 3 seconds. I try my larger hdtv and exibit the same behavior execpt that i never got it to work. I realize the addapter migth be defective but in the other hand i might be doing something wrong. The videos i tried both works fine in the phone by itself. One is off youtube and one is a movie saved in the sd card.
Thanks!

I have trouble getting mine to connect to my monitor. It takes me many tries but when I finally get it to work I don't have choppy video like you are talking about...everything runs smooth.
You have debugging off, correct? Other than that it may be your adapter as mine has yet to give me a problem on any TV
The debugging set to on was causijg the lag in the video. Thanks. After i got that out of the way i played with it more and realized the reason i dont get video has to do with the usb cable. I can play with it and if i put pressure in an upward direction it works. So i know i do have a defective addapter. I will try other usb cables but this is a good working cable and brand new. Another issue worth to mention is how horrible the video quality is. It looks like real redish, no sharp at all. It reminds me the old time when we only had over the air tv signal and you were getting a signal from a distant station. Is this normal? I wasnt expecting 1080 full hd signal but if this is the way it is supposed to work then maybe i dont need this addapter after all. Anyone care to coment on their video quality?
I tried at work on my pc monitor with a hdmi to dvi adapter. I had no problem getting the adapter to work continuously but video got choppy again even without debuging on... I will do some more testing later...
hate to bump this but if anyone using mhl can chime in and let me know how good/bad is their video quality on a 32 inch (or higher) hd tv I will appreciate it much. If what I saw in mine is the way it is supposed to look then I might as well save my money and watch whatever I am watching in the phone itself....
Thanks!

I hook mine up to my 55in LCD every once in a while and the videos play at almost the exact quality as what's on the note's screen. The only difference I've noticed is the picture on my TV isn't as bright as on the note when playing videos.
Mine is good from time to time on a 42" screen, but the sound cuts out sometimes, and occasionally static goes across the screen.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
So I should see good quality... Tonight I tried my work monitor. I hooked a hdmi to dvi adapter to the monitor, hook the hdmi cable to it, then hook the cable to the mhl adapter, hook the power, then hook to the phone... It worked great, the audio was coming out of the phone which I was expecting to have to bluetooth to my pc to use it for audio as you loose your audio feed when going hdmi to dvi. Videos were looking great, no lag in audio, no skipping or anything. I played youtube videos off dolphin, stock browser and the youtube application with no problem. Played different videos just to make sure it was not the content. Then played some of the movies on my sd card. All great. The only issues I would have is at times I lost all video for several seconds (total back screen) and sometimes when I loose video I would get snow. I rearranged my monitor set up since I use dual monitors at work and wanted to have use the dvi connection on the secondary monitor instead of the first. Then I tried one more time to make sure it was all the same before heading and trying at home... It started failing the same way as at my home. Video will play a frame every 2 or 3 seconds, no audio and sometimes not video at all...
I am going to change this adapter, any of you that is having success care to share who did you bought yours from?
Thanks!
OK, no vodeo for me, checking why not.

Got video and good sound, works with AnyNET+
Im happy for you. Where did you got yours from? I am expecting anoter adapter tomorrow from a different company and it is also supposed to work with anynet+. The seller that sold me this one just returned my money and told me I did not have to return it so I still have it. Pending if the other adapter does the same or not...
Got the new one today, it does work on both of the hdtvs at home with no problems. Anynet does not seems to work on the 20 some inches tv but It does work for my camcorder. At work it didnt work right until I turn off/on the phone, then it stopped working when I tried again after the phone went idle and I switched the monitor to the pc while I was working a trouble. Now it wont work at work even after a reboot. I get that one frame per every2 seconds problem. I am going from a hdmi cable to a dvi connector but it did worked fine before..

Samsung HS3000 Bluetooth Review (HTC Stereo Clip alternative)

In short, at half the price of the HTC Stereo Clip, I don't see why you would buy anything else. (A simple male to male adapter and it'll plug into your head unit just the same.)
Audio Quality: It's great! The new APT-X codec(?) is awesome. It would take a double blind hearing test for me to tell the difference between the Samsung and a wire. Can you tell? Maybe, but requiring a double blind test is good enough for me in my car.
Note: I have the bluetooth feeding directly into an amplifier that feeds my speakers. I no longer have a headunit.
For me, there are so many benefits of this unit vs the Stereo Clip.
Less than half the cost ! ($30 vs $70 for HTC Clip)
I can plug ANY set of headphones into the bluetooth and have "wireless" headphones
Has a built in mic, so I can answer calls with it in the car or out
Great battery life
Comes with a nice pair of short corded ear buds that have decent sound isolation as well
A minor gripe: If you look at the photos, the buttons are really small with no tactile differentiation. I always have to look at it to figure out what side I'm going push. It would have been so easy to make one side have some tactile difference.
Nice review!!! I just received mine yesterday and I love it as well. Definitely worth 30 bucks. Agree with everything you posted!

can you pair two devices to this thing (i.e. ELTE for me and 4S for my wife)?
I'm looking for an a2dp adapter to do a fixed install inside my car. Can I leave this hooked up to a usb power source constantly and hide the reciever in my armrest? Also is there any problem using these for a2dp only and using my car's built in hands free?

I would be interested to know if it would automatically power on or stay on for a fix car install. If you just want a2dp fixed install, check out the isimple isfm21. It does hard wired fm modulation or rca line out and has an Android app to change fm frequency.

I don't see why not. In fact, it supports two simultaneous connections as well (if the devices support it).

I have mine hooked up in a sort of fixed install. I have a USB and 3.5 mm cord running through my dash up to my sun visor where the Adapter sits, I was also going to do a totally fixed hidden install, but that would have hidden the built-in mic negating the hands free calling functionality. As long as your armrest isn't surrounded in metal (blocking the bluetooth signal), you should be fine. I briefly had it in my center console to test and it worked fine, then I realized, hey I won't be able to use the mic if I do that.
My USB is hooked up to a secondary cigarette socket I installed that is only live when the ignition is on. You definitely could leave it hooked up to a constant power source, but I don't know what that would do to the battery over time (the bluetooth battery and your car battery). I've decided to play it safe and not kill the battery. Having said that, if it's permanent, it shouldn't be an issue even if the bluetooth battery stops taking a charge. I've seen laptops that have dead batteries, but ppl are able to still use them plugged in.
It doesn't turn on and off automatically, so here it may be different from the StereoClip (I don't have a StereoClip so I don't know). It does work while hooked up to power so you could leave it on all the time as mentioned above. I turn mine off although I did forget one time and left it on, no biggie since it's connected to power. I'm going to set up a tasker profile to remind me to turn it off.
Also is there any problem using these for a2dp only and using my car's built in hands free?

I don't know. I do know that it supports a2dp, and it supports two simultaneous bluetooth connections if the devices support it to play music, but I'm not sure how that works with calls and whether or not it would try to play the music through your car's hands free system and whatever you have plugged.
I've never had a car built in hands free system so I don't know how that works. There's a small section in the manual about simultaneous bluetooth connections if you want to try and find the manual online.

Sweet man.. I just bought one based on your review. Do you think you can take a picture of your setup?
I purchased one too, along with a whole host of cables to do a permanent hidden installation.
My only fear is leaving it on all of the time, only charging when I am in the vehicle. Hopefully it has a "standby" mode to conserve power when the power switch is on but nothing is connected.
OP, I won't get mine until Tuesday, is there anyway you can test a permanent always-on installation like I'm talking about by seeing how yours does leaving the power switch on for a day or so?
The tech specs list a 130hour standby battery life. Should be more then enough when the car is not moving. my delema is that I cant find any decent Y adapters to split my one usb socket in my car into 2, But that is another story.

Not really, I use it all the time in and out of the car everyday so I'm always charging it to make sure it's topped off. Sorry man.
I did leave it on overnight once and it was fine.

Right, but does standby mean power switch is off, or power switch is on but nothing connected?
I just bought this little guy to do the splitting and will install it behind my dash where I already have the wires to my dock run.

I couldn't find a simple y splitter either, that wasn't 32 feet long....

My concern with that is it'll only charge your phone in USB mode which isn't enough when using navigation with the screen on.
I ended up getting a dual USB adapter that charged in AC mode and running two usb cords.

If you have the car dock, it forces AC mode, as long as your charger has enough current (at least 1A).
My charger is 2.1A, the bluetooth will probably pull 500mA and the phone will pull 1A, so in my case (with the dock) the hub should work fine, and will look a lot cleaner with only one cord running from my cigarette lighter to behind my dash.
But to each their own. I'll take pics of my setup on Tuesday.

I haven't made it pretty yet. I usually run my stuff for several weeks before I shore up all the wires and hide everything behind the dash properly and make a custom plate to cover up the head unit opening and paint the L Bracket I used black.

You know what, at first I was like NUH UH! And then I remembered, the first dock I got didn't do that AND it eventually stopped working (charging) and I had to exchange it for another one. So it was probably faulty. Good to know. Thanks for the heads up.
What's the range on this device? Sometimes I don't have good signal in the office so I have to leave it by a window. Usually no more than 20-30 feet away. Wanted to know cause I like to stream Pandora usually all day while I walk around the office.

I've found that the Bluetooth signal is very dependant on a variety of factors. You'll likely be on the edge of its range though.
For example, in my house I've been 20ish feet away and it works fine, but if go in a certain corner with a bunch of appliances it gets crackly.
I've also parked directly in front of a strip mall store and gone inside easily 30 feet with no issues.

I'm glad to have found this seeing as how the HTC stereoclip does NOT route your phone calls, when a phone call comes in it mites the music and it will use the speaker on the phone nut your car speakers. It only routs music. Which seems incredibly dumb to me. But I suppose HTC has to sell you another blue tooth device to take phone calls.

Probably because they couldn't be bothered to also lower the phone stream's volume and if they had a mic on the device it would just pick up the other person's voice from the car speakers and it would be a whole bucket of echoes without active noise cancellation.
I got mine, and I have to say it sounds fantastic. I have it in my "fixed" install. basically I have it plugged into a cigarette lighter that turns off with the car, and the audio is running under my console to the backside of my radio.
With the HTC car dock, my phone connects to my factory bluetooth handsfree for phone calls, and the Samsung for music, and standard audio, such as nav.
Only problem I have is it stays on when the power is off which means my phone stays connected when I go into my house.
I am considering cutting the battery wire on the inside to solve that issue.

USB DAC

Any idea if this would work?
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Hifimediy-Sa...n_0&hash=item20cb2a3799&_uhb=1#ht_1314wt_1271
if combined with this:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Usb-type-A-f...s=63&clkid=4859388797714287148#ht_1424wt_1037
And this:

I'm trying to make a one-connection, more or less universal, high quality audio and charger set up for my truck. Since the DAC is USB powered i'm not sure where the power would come from in this case. The phone or that adapter. I just like the simplicity of this unit for what i am doing (it's all going in my dash).
EDIT: I took the plunge and ordered a bunch of bits that SHOULD work (a UCA202 was cheaper, so ordered it). I'll take pics and document the setup and installation, post it all when its ready. It'll take a few weeks for the stuff to get here.
What are you trying to do? Give yourself an entertainment centre in your truck?
What I have done in my truck is use a Bluetooth stereo for streaming all audio from my HTC. If I were to install one HDMI screen I could have HD TV.
For charging, I just use a USB adapter in the cigarette lighter. Make sure you get one capable of outputting 1A or more, and also fools the phone into thinking it's connected to the mains.
When at a festival the other year, I used the tailgate as a makeshift bar, and the phone was streaming music over Bluetooth. I also had the stereo remote to control the volume, and used the air conditioning to chill some drinks. Although, will use a mini fridge next time as I used a shed loads of Diesel
I have a pioneer head ( http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/CD-Receivers/FH-P8000BT ) and an iBolt cradle. What I was hoping for was to use USB to provide power and use a DAC to get better sound quality from the tunes that I get over bluetooth. This deck also has an auxiliary in on the back, but trying to avoid using the amped headphone out. I went with this deck because of the connection options and didn't care about touch screens. That's what my HOX+ or Nexus 7 are for. So having a single USB connection for everything would be great. Pretty much the only thing that iFail devices have on us.

Here is my start. I didn't get the DAC yet, and I need to wait for USB OTG with Charging before I can, but the set up is ready for it!
Sure looks good, but I'm unsure how the sound quality will be, I'm not sure how the DAC works by accessing the USB.. Does it just see it as a USB storage device? If you're playing MP3's anyway, why not just stream over Bluetooth. Once the track is digital, Idon't think that you would want to convert to analogue unless it's playing it directly.
Are your MP3's a decent bit-rate? I have never had an issue with MP3's over Bluetooth. I normally download weekly music podcasts and stream those.
I'm gonna chime in hear and say just bought the pioneer Afh x5500, and although my EVO LTE streams spotify and stock music player over Bluetooth, it does not send track info whatsoever. My note 2 did but, I prefer the EVO. So, I'm waiting for the 8500 to come in now because it has hdmi input onboard so it should be able to take hdmi to mhl and then perform correctly. As well as apradio functions. Anyone have any experience with this? Or, does anyone know how to get Bluetooth to stream song/album info to the head unit?

One of the #1 reasons I got the HOX+ was the 64GB storage for my FLAC collection. Originally this concept I started while I had the Galaxy S3, which with a kernel and CM 10 can enable the DAC output while allowing the device to still recieve the charge.
That said, the deck you mentioned with HDMI might just do the trick too. And it really would be universal. Hmm.... I like this deck (It was old when I got it) because I don't really care for touch/dvd in my dash. This has a big rotary control knob, and I even have the lights turn off at night so I just control everything from the phone (except Volume). But i'll look into the one you suggest.
Anyway. This set up will do the trick for now. I hard wired the charger and AUX into the stereo harness so it looks clean and stock. I doubt I'll really tell much of difference anyway without the DAC at this point. I'm not getting any line noise like I thought I might.
Well, ill write back after I get the new deck. I'm really hoping for all functions or ill have to figure something else out...

OP, any update on whether the DAC and cable worked with the HOX+?
I'm interested in getting a DAC to work with my high impedance in ear monitors. The driver in the phone doesn't have enough output power to adequately drive them.

Samsung smart dock audio via hdmi

Hi,
I got my note 3 the other week and just got the samsung smart dock today.
The note 3 is brilliant so far and as far Im aware it is MHL 2.0 compliant.
I plugged in the smart dock last night into my reciever and I got the screen mirrored onto my tv however I am getting no sound at all
However If I plug the hdmi cable into my TVs hdmi input I get both video and sound (the problem being that my tv has an issue with DT, DTS HD etc. All I can do is pass a dolby digital signal to my reciever via optical cable.
The reciever works perfectly fine for HDMI out from my htpc at the mometn (and to confirm it wasnt the settings on the reciever I ever plugged the dock into the same input as the HTPC (replaced it temporarily) Still no sound.
Does anyone have any idea why the audio works through my tv and not the reciever? (my reciever is a denon 1910, my tv is a Samsung B650) As far Im aware audio over hdmi is a standard and if anything the recoever should be able to work better as it can decode more formats.
The other thing I noticed was that I am getting 1080p at 30hz, does this make the smart dock only MHL1.0 compliant?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
go to settings / accessory and then either click or unclick the audio out mode. then try.

Thanks for the fast responce. This does tie into what I have read elsewhere unfortunately it didnt seem to have an impact for me I have tried both ticked and unticked. my reciever still gets no audio.
(My TV only recieves audio if it is unticked)
In the same place there is an option for HDMI surround or stereo, have you tried changing that around?

Unfortunately yes. Maybe I havent tried all combinations of the 2 options though.
I think I tried unticked stereo, surround unticked and surround ticked. I can try messing with these again tonight to see if it has any affect.
Is there any reason these settings would need changing for plugging into a reciever vs plugging into my tv directly? I would have thought if it works for one it should work for the other.
Thanks again for the help
no luck, tried all combinations of both of those settings. no sound at all coming out of my reciever

Sorry, thought I had already replied to this. Yes, this is just the note 2 dock. as I assumed it is just using th MHL standard I believe the note 3 should be just as compatable as the Note 2
Note 3 smart dock
The note 2 smart dock worked with my note 3 with sound? See here:
youtube.com/watch?v=lWN43pnkg0s
This is a long shot but on your note 3, go to settings>general>accessory>check off "Audio output mode" (Use external speakers when device is docked).
See if that works?
---------- Post added at 04:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:23 PM ----------
Also, I know this is silly but try unlpugging the smart dock power source and then replugging it in the back of the dock. Someone had issues where reconnecting the power source on back of the dock helped resolve some recognition issue with the usb. Long shot but worth a try.
